You can fry cheese? Really?

Hi Gang!
Just popping in to say hi. I'm on the go today with my daughter, who has decided I am Alicia, Diego's big sister...Diego is Dora's cousin, from the TV show...oh, why try to explain? It's just one of those days.
The Girl Scout cookies arrived. I ate my portion of Thin Mints (not as good as I remember, but only 150 calories for 4) and Samoas (better than I remember, but 150 calories for only 2!) and they are going in the trunk of my husband's car, because I am far too lazy to walk outside for cookies. Bye, bye, evil minions of Satan!
Lucky for you Body Boarders, I weighed in yesterday so no cookie gains for me!!! We will soon be showered with magnets!!!
Don't worry, ladies...the 40lbs I just hit, that was my baby weight. She's 3 and half. For three years now I've been saying "By her birthday, I will have lost it" and now this year it's true! NOW I can say, "By her birthday I will be at or close to goal!"
What's that saying? Nothing tastes as good as thin feels? Whoo-hoo!
Thank you, Dan!![]()
You all are the best. You really are. As you know, not everyone in my life is doing cartwheels for me, or celebrating my success...but you are. I hope you know I am proud of all of you, too. It's so great that we can cheer each other on and commiserate when need be.![]()
Oh-oh.....where is DWD? Hmmmm? has anyone seen her today? We are supposed to keep her accountable, right? Let's see...today is her "B" day. She better not be Binging! It will only serve to make her Butt Bulge!![]()
Let's be supportive and come up with some great B words for Liz today!
She can look in the mirror and tell herself that she is Beautiful (cause she is!)
Today she can be Bound and determined to work out!
She can rejoice in the knowledge that she is a Body Board Babe!
She can work out and make herself Buff!
Ok...your turn...
And LIZ...show thyself!
I can think of a B word.
Only kidding. You are a true friend.
I'll have to Be Accountable later. AFTER I've walked on the TM. But I have to watch Project Runway first. It's a finale and Vicki B will be on.
Hi Everyone....
I am feeling a bit better this afternoon than I did this morning... On the plus side, I managed to stay on my eating plan for the day with no extras so that is a plus.... I have roughly a three pound weight gain to make up for this week thanks to my stress eating weekend debacle....Oh well, the only thing I can do is keep moving forward (right Sarah) and try harder this week...
I am nearer to the end of my quandry. Right now, I am leaning towards not moving away, but want to be sure I think through what the long term effects are before I finalize things. You know, that whole don't shoot yourself in the foot thing... There are a few people I need to talk to about firming things up and I should be on the path back towards happiness.
Thanks to all for your kind words and thoughts... What would I do without you all....
Goof
That rain is headed our way. We have just come off the wettest February on record, had 1+" of rain on Wednesday and are forecast to have another 1-3" tomorrow (isolated areas are looking at 4"!!!!) Our yard is flooded, the barn now has a river running right past the door, my animals need life jacketsand the mud is literally knee deep here.
This is one time that I would, without doubt, prefer snow.
Anyway - Kat, when I find the big sneaker smiley, I'll use it to officially kick your a@@!!
Not that I'm trying to be an enabler here - but sometimes a day of rest truly does the body good....and a bottle of wine to top it off...(DH just went on a packie run!!) Enjoy your evening off- you work hard and really do deserve a break now and then!

Totally!!!
Band - I'd say, but I don't want to make anyone feel bad if they love this band. They are very, very popular. Both of them. I'd be happy to debate music with anyone, any time, but I don't want to be mean, you know? I'll talk about it off the thread if anyone wants to.
OOOOHHHH. Bra report!
So last week I took myself to the outlets and spent some time in the Champion store. They rate all their bras, so I went with the highest ones. I bought one that was high and one that was maximum. I wore the high one today - it was on sale - with a wicking tshirt I got, too. It was awesome! no movement of the girls at all!
So I highly recommend going to a Champion outlet, if you have one, and looking at what they have. The Target ones are just not enough for me - again, they might be stretched out, but for now they are only for yoga or weights.
And now, a question. Does anyone have a water bottle they adore? I am in the market for a new one. And I want to LOVE it.

Lyz - you little social butterfly... thanks to you I am getting a FB account...![]()

EriKa - love the old posts. (well most of them, some of them are horribly embarrassing) I TOTALLY forgot about my letter a day deal. I ought to do that again. (Funny using DWD.)
Definately.
Paula - yaaay! I think you're a perfect candidate for fb anyway. Your important and smart and connected.
OMG! EriKa!
I'd rather squat then use a porta potty. Well, depends. Am I drunk?
But I tailgate, so I can pee anywhere. Oh, the life skills you get from living in NJ and going to a lot of concerts.
I'm actually going to a concert tonight. But my least favorite band on the planet. Well, top two. I actually hate two currently popular bands, like think they have a maybe one good song but are otherwise useless and overrated. Thankfully, all my music friends agree with me.
Long post Alert...
So Kat wanted my reasons for why I am anti-low carb dieting.
First, some background. 2004 comes and we are planning our first Disney trip as a family. Kids had never been at that point (or had only been as infants and had no memory, etc.). And I decided that there was NO WAY I was going to be huge in all of my pictures and thus hate them. However, I only had about 4 weeks to prepare (didn't have much advance notice of the trip).
So what takes weight off fast? No carbs. So I did some basic research and knew that Atkins was completely unhealthy, but that South Beach was a much better way to go. Bought the book and I was on my way.
I did the "induction" phase for about 3 weeks. Which is no carbs at all. Less than 20g per day. Around days 3-4 most people feel kinda sick. I did, too. But I pushed through it. And then I was feeling fine. It was hard avoiding everything, but I was motivated, so I did it.
And I lost a lot. Quite quickly. By the time the trip came, I wasn't where I wanted to be, but I was feeling really good about myself and knew that I could look forward to the trip.
So since I had success on it, I stayed on it during and after the trip. Slowly started adding back in the healthy carbs, which is what SBD is all about.
And it continued to work. I got to about the size I am now, I think. Maybe a bit bigger. And this was with zero exercise. And I bragged about this program to everyone. I was like, "I am NEVER hungry." And it was true, I never was.
But when you are cutting out carbs and sugar and all the goes with that, you can't help but increase your fat. So I was consuming way more fat grams than usual.
And what happened was that I started to get fat deposits in parts of my body that had NEVER before been fatty. Prior to low carb, my weight issues were fairly evenly distributed, and I definitely had a belly, what is known as a carb belly. If you have belly fat, go no carb for a couple of weeks and it will be gone. But the fat has to end up somewhere, especially if you are not working out.
Anyway, to this day, I blame low carb for RUINING my shape. Really. Yes, ultimately it was ME and what I CHOSE to eat, but I thought I was doing the right thing. And I ended up with that dreaded SBF! (For those not on volume one, SBF is that awful side-back-fat.) And I still have it TODAY. Because those fat grams had to go somewhere. And that is where they went and there is NO F'ING WAY to work out that particular part of my body. It will only come off with overall weight loss and overall toning.
The other thing, and this is what you hear much more about, is that it is close to impossible to stay on that type of diet. And those who love and live by SBD say the same things as WW folks, "It isn't a diet it is a lifestyle." And eventually you get to the point where you can eat a whole wheat bagel or whole wheat pasta, etc. But it is next to impossible to live like that. Forget going out to most restaurants. (And remember that as a vegetarian, it was even harder for me.)
So what would happen? I would allow myself a break every once in a while. Not often. But the occasional meal out, holiday, whatever, right? But doing the higher fat SBD 90% of the time and eating regular carbs even only 10% of the time...and HOLY SH*T! I blew up like a balloon. And not only did I gain, but I gained in very weird places, places that are so hard to get rid of. Then it became the worst of both worlds. And that is where I was at when I posted my before pics just over a year ago here.
I should find a pic of me when I was heavy, but what I call "regular" heavy. 20-ish pounds overweight but normally proportioned overweight. Then look at 20 pounds overweight after low carb/higher fat. Even though the scale may have said I weighed the same, I looked much thinner the first way.
I should also mention that I always ate pretty healthy. I have never done a lot of junk. So I would just eat too much of healthier, higher fat things. Like nuts and cheese, etc. And I am telling you, it ruined my figure. It is what I am trying so hard to get back to now.
So, that's the story on low carb.
and having any kind of splurge day while in the midst of it can erase as much as a week of being "good".
I have a friend who wants to go back to low carb. But I question the rational thought process. She always says, "I lost tons of weight on it". And I think, "but you gained lots of weight when you came off". She would probably say "well this time I'll stay on". To which I would question why she came off - as in LIFE. Life naturally brought her off. Why wouldn't it again?
I can understand the reasons. In fact, the inability to stick to it (plus the inflexibility which only adds to that), is one of the main reasons I am dropping it. The bounce-back effect is also a pretty well-known thing, and having any kind of splurge day while in the midst of it can erase as much as a week of being "good".
However, the back fat thing... I hate to tell you this, but that is hitting the 35+ mark. Some quick searching turned up that it is a rather well-known fact that back fat is something that happens as you age, esp if you have gained then lost more than 10-20 lbs.
One last question... how much did you exercise during?
That is it exactly, Lisa. Like, it was just regular LIFE stuff that got me off of it before, so why wouldn't that happen again? It took me a long time to realize that. I kept thinking that I should go back to it since I had such initial success with it.
Right, one "regular" day can undo so much work. And that just isn't right because real days are going to happen. Maybe it can truly be a lifestyle for some, but not for me.
I didn't work out at all in terms of going to the gym or running or anything like that. But I am naturally active. We take family walks every night (other than in the dead of winter), I run around and play soccer with the kids, I coached a Little League team, etc. Active, but not fit and working out.
And maybe the back fat thing has to do with age. But in this case, I watched it happen. Saw it. Knew what I was eating, etc. Plus genetically, I am identical to my mom in terms of body type, and she has never had it. So in this case I really attribute it to that eating plan.
... Since insulin is the hormone that causes our bodies to make and store fat, then by keeping our insulin levels low we are no longer fat-storing animals, we've changed ourselves into fat-burning animals. Our metabolism actually transforms, so that we primarily use our fat stores for fuel instead of ingested glucose...
