In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

I adore piss off. Adore it.

Me too, it sounds very British to me :lmao:

Ronda - I do love the word Crumpet!

Challenge results:

Exercise - not good, only 1 day out of 7 :sad2:
Tracking - Every day :thumbsup2
In-Laws killed - 0. Although there is time for that to change

Better week next week for me I think :cool1:

Good Morning Everybody!

As usual, I am running late today. Rough week. Story of my life, lol.

Anywho, I will be back after work. Hope everybody has a good day.

Sunny - that's an awesome loss! Congrats!!! :cool1: You are on a GREAT track!

Lisa PR - that sounds lovely, the skiing. Not that I ski. But I love the idea of the option instead of running, and the happy happy outdoors.

The Magic Bullet is awesome! Love that thing! Have you made the broccoli soup? OMG, sooo good!

The book sounds interesting. I might have to get it!

And major congrats on being 3lbs away from goal! WOW! That is HUGE! :cool1:

Nancy - hi! Forgot what I was going to say. Hmm. Sorry! xoxo!

Lisa V - I think your passion for your job is inspiring. That's all. :goodvibes

Erika, I would have NO qualms about returning the suit, scooching over to Freeport and buying a sturdy bra top and a swim bottom. You HAVE to be able to pee. It's so very necessary!

:yay: I love that Bosu Ball!

I'm headed to bed - I'll check in tomorrow with my weekly challenge totals!

I figured you would like the fact that I am using the Bosu Ball. I remembered how excited you were the first time I mentioned it. Hope Kat and I didn't keep you up again last night. I actually slept pretty well (for a change).

Paula, the Bosu add on is for your core. Anytime you can make yourself off balance while lifting weights, you have to engage your core. Just a little tip for everyone!! You are going to be buff before you know it.

Have a great day everyone and thanks again for being there for me!! :flower3:

Lisa - I know I have said this before, but the support you can get from this board is just awesome. Erika was right in that I am in such a different place than I was a year ago, so anything is possible.

Jesse was telling me pretty much the same thing as you. Something along the lines of using the ball to burn more calories and train the core muscles to respond quickly when triggered. Either way, if it makes my abdomen get smaller I am happy. I am looking a little disproportioned at the moment. My upper body is shrinking at a slightly smaller rate than my lower body. Since I am not normally pear shaped, everyone tells me that the lower body will eventually catch up, but man this waiting part is frustrating. Plus - the fashion issues that this is creating are not fun, especially since the girls just aren't big enough compensate for it (nor do I want them to be - still trying to deal with the increased cup size as it is). :confused3 (and yes, that was for you Roddy)

Good morning everyone... TGIF!!!!!

Here are my challenge results for the week:
3 strength training sessions
1 cardio session
.25 pounds lost (whoo hoo!!!)
# of GS cookies eaten - 5 and I am done for the year...

Congrats to all of you losers out there and those who are closing in on their goals... Remember to celebrate your victories no matter how small. They are hard faught and hard earned so celebrate them.

Have a great day everyone and I'll check in a little later.

Paula

Lisa/PR--thanks for the recipe! It sounds super healthy and good, too! But the thing is, I am all about fast and easy prep, especially at breakfast time. Getting on the blender? Just for a breakfast? Not gonna happen. At least not with any type of regularity. Maybe for a special occasion like a race, though. :goodvibes

Sunny
--WOW! GREAT loss! Just great! :cool1:

Nancy--I am sure there will be SOME pics. Ok, the truth? I am *really* excited about getting marked! Like, that is what they do for REAL triathletes. :rotfl2: So I will definitely have lots of pics of me with my numbers written on. Since I am solo (not part of a relay team, etc.), I will get marked on my upper arm and on my thigh/quad.

Good Morning All -

sorry i've been MIA, i'm having a harder time recovering from my wisdom teeth than expected. THe roots of the bottom two were growing almost upward, turning them into little hooks, so it was pretty invasive, still a ton of pain and not really able to eat....

I suppose the positive, today is my weigh in day, and i'm down 4.5 lbs this week! Not the best way to lose them, but hey, at least SOMETHING good came from it.

I suppose you could say i tracked the pudding and applesauce that are the only things i've eaten since monday.... I think that brings me to 7lbs for the challenge, under my goal, but better than nothing!

K, have to catch up on some posts before my vicodin kicks in again and knocks me over.....

Hope everyone is having a great week

Erika there is no blending necessary for that recipie. I put all the ingredients in a plastic container with a lid and add hot water. Cover it and it "cooks" while you do something else. This is great for travel too (hint, hint) just put a bunch of baggies full of the mixture and 1 bowl or put the mixture in separate serving bowls. In the morning in your room (or at the airport as we fly sooooo early) you just get a cup of hot water (hence the 1 cup coffeemaker which will also heat my water) and mix it together.

I don't like instant oatmeal that much because:
1. It tends to have added sugar in it that I don't want.
2. It is mushier than rolled oats and steel cut oats and I am not a mushy cereal girl.

I am truly so excited about you doing the tri! I cannot wait for the report, good, bad or indifferent. I really believe you are going to like it. I am not brave enough yet but, maybe you will inspire me!!

Good morning, everyone.

LisaV,
I hear you on the perfectionism -- it is frustrating to feel every negative thing while letting the good things slide by unnoticed (maybe not unnoticed, but not as celebrated as they should be?) I think I can remember every negative comment made to me from childhood on.....we all tend to dwell on things sometimes. Hang in there -- bask in the love of your friends and family and enjoy this one life that we get. Take care, hon. :hippie:

Challenge results:
Exercise: 6 days
Snacking: within the window
Weight: samer this week

Tomorrow, my friend and I are taking our daughters out to buy dresses for the 8th grade dance, and then having lunch. It should be a nice day. Sunday it's supposed to be in the 60's here -- fabulous! Have a great day, everbody!

Nancy and LisaPR--for the love of God, women, STOP talking about having to pee outside during a race! Liz and Lyz will NEVER do the Princess Half with us next year if they think they will have to squat! :rotfl2: :lmao:

PAULA--Great week! Woo Hoo! And your other half WILL catch up. I am losing in an odd way this time around as well. I am usually pretty well proportioned in terms of weight distribution. (Well, my upper arms and shoulders are huge and out of proportion with the rest of me, but they are always like that.) But right now, I am losing in my hips FIRST. Which is odd. Like, my hips are something like 35" right now, give or take. But I am not losing ANYTHING in my chest or waist. And I always lose chest first. Odd. But I am not stressed about it. It will all come off.

KELLY
--Great job tracking!

And Stacey! HUGE loss! Ok, so not the most pleasant way to get a loss. But down is down, baby! So congrats!

LisaV, this is for you (for all really, but this is what Lisa is ALWAYS reminding us about. This is from Jillian Michaels)--

Your body is trying to tell you something, but you're just not listening! To win at the weight-loss game, you've got to make some changes. One of the most important ones is to stop listening to anything but your body to establish a realistic weight for your specific build. Forget about what you see and hear from pop-culture sources.

Another thing not to rely on is the body mass index (BMI), which determines the amount of fat you have on your body according to your weight and height. Here's why you're not going to use it: It fails to distinguish between fat and muscle, so the BMI will ultimately give you an incomplete sense of the shape you're in.

Today, the medical industry has set its weight guidelines according to the waist-to-hip-ratio method, which is a much more accurate way of arriving at an ideal goal weight. Follow these steps to find yours:

Get a tape measure and measure your waist right at the belly-button line.
Standing with feet hip-width apart, measure your hips at their widest point.
Now simply divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement. This is your waist-to-hip ratio.

The ideal waist-to-hip ratios are 0.80 for women and 0.95 for men.

Good Morning All -

I suppose you could say i tracked the pudding and applesauce that are the only things i've eaten since monday.... I think that brings me to 7lbs for the challenge, under my goal, but better than nothing!

K, have to catch up on some posts before my vicodin kicks in again and knocks me over.....

Hope everyone is having a great week

Stacey - So sorry that this has been such an ordeal for you. A loss is a loss so take it and run with it for this week. Have you tried yogurt as well as the pudding and the applesauce? I am all about this new Greek yogurt that I found in my grocery store named chobani. It is non fat and has like 12 - 14 grams of protein in one serving. It is much denser than regular yogurts so man is it filling. As a quick breakfast, I'll add some fresh berries and my oatmeal square from JC and it fills me right up. If I have had a particularly hard strength training workout (when Jesse kicks my butt with high weights), I'll come home from the gym and eat one of those. I think it has about 120 - 140 calories for the 6 oz. serving. I even bought some plain yogurt to use in place of traditional sour creams.

Feel better soon...

Paula, I love Greek yogurt. The texture is much better for me that regular yogurt. Plus, there are no extra "fillers" in most Greek yogurts, just the milk and cultures which is soooo much better for you!!

Stacey, Feel better soon.

Erika, I can make it through the entire 13.1 without having to pull off to the side of the road anymore I am proud to say. When the time comes, I would be more than happy to share my secrets! Okay, it is not really a secret it is just to come into the race hydrated so I don't feel like I have to load up on water before the race. Then you have to find the right balance on the course for you as to how much and how many water stops you make. It is totally doable though. Now the marathon....:rolleyes1

CHALLENGE UPDATE: Miles for this week are 25.89. I weighed myself only once (I know shocking) this morning and I am officially 3 pounds from my goal weight!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: This new way of eating coupled with my dedication to get my miles in is definitely working for me.

:

Fantastic Lisa. :thumbsup2 Fantastic. I adore hearing about success. That's wonderful.

Good Morning!

WW weigh in last night was awsome. Down 2.4 pounds. Tracking and water are done for the challenge.

Sunny - great work.

You too Nancy.:thumbsup2

Kelly, so exercise was off. Tracking was bang on. Good for you for not letting it all slip. Balance, Kelly knows balance.

:lmao: I will send them to you when I get home from work tonight.

 Yeah!!!!!!!!! Can't wait.

Me too, it sounds very British to me :lmao:

Ronda - I do love the word Crumpet!

:

My mom loved her crumpets. Loved them. Yeah a piss off lover.

Ah Stacey.

I meant to tell you about my under during WT story. They were talking about weight - probably the doc and nurse, about hers, and I must have woke up for a sec and they said this low weight and I said, "I wish" like they were talking to me. :lmao: I so remember waking up feeling the pressure of the clamp and putting myself under again. :lmao:

Those people who are fully "awake" during surguries. Horror stories to me. Horror. To be awake and not being able to move. Oh boy.

Good morning, everyone.

LisaV,

Enjoy your day Lisa. Thanks for your thoughts. It helps. Your words were so lovely. Thank you. :lovestruc

I'm home today. So I'll try to find a tape measure. Exciting. However no hips here but I do have an a$$ so curious now.

My father phones last night here (downtown) and greets me with "so you're not at your country home, eh" (his). I said that's country estate thank you very much.

I just discovered I've been spelling vulnerable incorrectly most of my life. I'm a pretty good at spelling but it kills me when you find these things out. What's your word?

I did Disney's online checkin today. It froze. :lmao: Got to love their new stuff. :rotfl:

Okay, off to find a tape measure.

Oh me

Exercise - bang on
Eating consciously - much better
Celebrating - bang on

.79!!!!!

Yeah, something that actually works for me. Finally. Since my BMI will always say obese - I'm thinking. I so need to get some pics to show you guys. I'm hovering between 200 and 210 and really don't have much more to do. 15-30. Don't know. I have to get that flippin' expensive camery battery to show pics.

Thanks Erika.

:lmao: :rotfl: Piss off Amiee. :rotfl: :lmao:

I was just cursing you going if I hear one more time "the pics are on my facebook" from one more flippin' person I'm going to lose it. My Lord.

Pictures please sleepyhead. I'll give you 24 hours. :surfweb: That's it.

How's that for a big heart cutie? :rotfl:

I adore piss off. Adore it.

Lisa, those exact words are what finally got me to join FB. Sick of not seeing others' pictures!!

Good Morning!

WW weigh in last night was awsome. Down 2.4 pounds. Tracking and water are done for the challenge.

I only ate one of the GS cookies I bought. They really aren't the same this year. The lady I buy them from said they had a new baker this year for our area, so really not the same. Drew (ds18) didn't notice any difference, the tagalongs were all gone in one night.

Hope everyone has a Happy Friday!

GREAT LOSS!! :yay:

Ugh. I never drink coffee until after I work out. Otherwise I would be in the bathroom the whole time! ;) And yeah. I found a PERFECT place to pee at the WDW 1/2  Thankfully when I ran the 1/2 it was before they changed the course- so there were loads of available bathrooms as we ran thru Epcot and MK, and *lovely* porta-potties on the course. But, when there is an emergency? yep. A girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do. :rolleyes1

Ok. Off to work out. Then to work. Have a great day all!

Mornings without coffee, unthinkable.

Stacey - So sorry that this has been such an ordeal for you. A loss is a loss so take it and run with it for this week. Have you tried yogurt as well as the pudding and the applesauce? Stacey, sorry you are still hurting. Congrats on the loss tho!!

E, good luck on the race!!

Check-in for challenge:
1) Tracked, 6/7 on 1200 cals.
2) Water, 6/7
3) Exercise, 4/5 so far (will be 5/5 today), 1860/1200
4) Alcohol, not a requirement anymore!!

Sunny - great job on the loss!!!

I was just cursing you going if I hear one more time "the pics are on my facebook" from one more flippin' person I'm going to lose it. My Lord.

How's that for a big heart cutie? :rotfl:

I adore piss off. Adore it.

Very colorful!

Lisa - I just got a fb account. I caved. I was missing to much. My social butterfly tendencies got the best of me.

Hideous or not, you must share. I think it's in the manual, right Lyz?

YES! It IS in the manual. Looks like were going to have to involve the mayor (who is really into pictures, so we have no problems).

That's it. I'm never buying one of those suits. ever. If I can't pee, I'm done. :sad2:

Exactly!

made with quinoa and steel cut oats. I like variety in my breakfast but oatmeal is just a must for me. They recommend that you eat 3 egg whites with your oatmeal OR put protein powder in it to get the vital complex carb/protein combination. I have found that the meals they suggest have really stuck with me. I made a beef stew of sorts last night with sweet potato, red potato, tomatoes, celery, edemame, carrots, and our own "organic" stew beef. It was very hearty and 1 cup of it was all I needed. I will eat it for lunch again today. Plus, you get a slice of bread with it!!! How sweet is that???? :cloud9: There is a great bread recipe and a recipe for Ezekial bread in the cookbook that I cannot wait to try too. They have breakfast cookies and muffins that I may attempt this weekend too.

Gracious. You healthy people eat things I've never even heard of. Seriously, I just imagine me sitting in the field eating hay.

Me too, it sounds very British to me :lmao:

:rotfl: Oh the irony!

I suppose the positive, today is my weigh in day, and i'm down 4.5 lbs this week! Not the best way to lose them, but hey, at least SOMETHING good came from it.

Stacey - sorry you are having such issues. BUT you did lose weight. That's awesome.

Tomorrow, my friend and I are taking our daughters out to buy dresses for the 8th grade dance, and then having lunch. It should be a nice day. Sunday it's supposed to be in the 60's here -- fabulous! Have a great day, everbody!

It's beautiful here too. It even smells like spring. Love it.

Nancy and LisaPR--for the love of God, women, STOP talking about having to pee outside during a race! Liz and Lyz will NEVER do the Princess Half with us next year if they think they will have to squat! :rotfl2: :lmao:

EXACTLY what I was thinking.

I'd rather squat then use a porta potty. Well, depends. Am I drunk?

But I tailgate, so I can pee anywhere. Oh, the life skills you get from living in NJ and going to a lot of concerts.

I'm actually going to a concert tonight. But my least favorite band on the planet. Well, top two. I actually hate two currently popular bands, like think they have a maybe one good song but are otherwise useless and overrated. Thankfully, all my music friends agree with me. On the other hand, my BFF is NOT a music person, so of course these two bands are favorites of Jodi's, and one in particular is her very favorite. So I'm going to see them tonight, because I THAT good of a friend. It's like making your ears bleed. There's not enough beer in the world to make them good. But, I have been before and the beer does make them amusing. Slightly amusing. And they always say ridiculous things on stage so I can laugh about that later.

Seriously, the things we do for friends...

Anyhoo. I lost my train of thought. Oh! I went to the gym. And I made a decision. In March I am going to work on my strength and endurance. It's not going to be about running more, per se, but about building back up to where I was in the fall, which was yoga/Pilates twice a week, spin twice a week, and run/walk twice a week. Two months of not doing any of that has put me behind, so I need to build back up. I am going for 5x a week. That's my goal for this new challenge, or for March, whatever.

So, day one. Good start.

Erika - I loved getting marked. It was awesome.

Also, you ARE a real triathlete.

Lyz - I agree. They eat things I never consider eating. But then again, I eat plenty they never consider eating! :rotfl:

Stacey - hang in there. At least you lost weight, right? I will manage to gain when ill.

Hey, Liza Z, my husband is passing through your lovely city today! Right about now, in fact! I'll tell him to wave.

Okay, off to go do laundry!

 So true. Like fried cheese. That's the number one food group right there.

Totally!!!

Band - I'd say, but I don't want to make anyone feel bad if they love this band. They are very, very popular. Both of them. I'd be happy to debate music with anyone, any time, but I don't want to be mean, you know? I'll talk about it off the thread if anyone wants to.

OOOOHHHH. Bra report!

So last week I took myself to the outlets and spent some time in the Champion store. They rate all their bras, so I went with the highest ones. I bought one that was high and one that was maximum. I wore the high one today - it was on sale - with a wicking tshirt I got, too. It was awesome! no movement of the girls at all!

So I highly recommend going to a Champion outlet, if you have one, and looking at what they have. The Target ones are just not enough for me - again, they might be stretched out, but for now they are only for yoga or weights.

And now, a question. Does anyone have a water bottle they adore? I am in the market for a new one. And I want to LOVE it.

Lisa, those exact words are what finally got me to join FB. Sick of not seeing others' pictures!!

and yes, I am going to fall victim to peer pressure and get a FB account. Hopefully, I'll be able to do this on Sunday...

Link??

www.chobani.com

Its good stuff... I love the blueberry and the strawberry. Bought the peach to try, but haven't eaten it yet. Enjoy!!!

Liz - Have fun at the concert tonight. Sometimes, the most coolest things happen at concerts when you aren't expecting much. Awesome about the workout goals. We can do five a week together right?

Erika - I agree with Liz - you ARE a triathelte...

Lyz - you little social butterfly... thanks to you I am getting a FB account... :flower3:

LisaV - awesome on the hip to waist ratio. I don't have any faith in the BMI charts anymore. They are dead to me now... Join me in the mourning of them (or shoule I say celebrating)

Nancy - forgot what I wanted to say to you... darn... it will come to me at some point... :upsidedow

gotta run, the phone is ringing off the hook here. talk to you later
