In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Ok, don't hate me. But I don't get it about GS cookies. I mean, I was a GS for years, sold them, love the fund raiser and all of that. But the cookies are just not that good. And this is not me being Health Food Queen. I love a good cookie. Or sweets of any kind. But GS cookies are so, well, NOT what Nancy would make! Thankfully, they are not a temptation for me.

Not a fan of GS cookies either. Thin mints once in a while - but either they've changed, or I have. Just not the same as I remembered...

Ugh... Jesse worked me hard tonight. As if the shoulder presses weren't bad enough, I had to do them while balancing on the bosu ball.

:yay: I love that Bosu Ball!

Frankly, I don't see what the big deal is.

Honestly. I don't see the big deal either. It's life. Deal with it.;)

I agree Paula! Why settle for Hershey's when you can have Godiva? I sold my fair share of gs cookies in the past, but they just don't cut it for me anymore. Didn't they taste amazingly good back in the day?

mmmm. Godiva :lovestruc

But, sweets aren't my trigger food. I can actually eat half of a wee chocolate and leave the rest until the next day, and not even be tempted by it on my desk.

A bag of chips, however... :scared1:

Sweets, chips, it makes no difference. I'm an equal opportunity eater

Nancy...you were nursing your sore foot. And posting a lot about wine. So somethings don't change. :lmao:

You're right. But now it's a hip flexor, and my LACK of wine :sad1:

Word? What, are we all rap stars now? Fo Shizzle, Lizzle :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I tracked all my food, just like I was supposed to. Then I ate some chocolates. Not 1/2 of a wee chocolate like Kat, but more like 1/2 of a handful of wee chocolate wafers - the kind for making candy. :headache: I'm going to blame it on the stress of costumes. Or lack of wine. Or lack of SLEEP because Paula and Kat kept me up half the night.

I'm headed to bed - I'll check in tomorrow with my weekly challenge totals!

Godiva is a killer for me. I have a box in my computer bag. It was on clearance at Barnes & Noble simply because it was dropped. Platinum line too! Heaven! But I'm going to eat all 4 of them in one sitting sometime.

Wow, you've reached a milestone. A post and no ":confused3 " :thumbsup2

No, it was LIZ. She locked them in Nick's car. Ah, the good ol' days!

Do you know that one year ago today, Lyz still called me 3DK? And everyone called her DWD? We were just learning each other's names, so sometimes she would call me Erica. Spelled wrong. Which is why she has (for a YEAR) been capitalizing the K. EriKa. And we called Liz NJLiz. Eventually I re-instated Lyz's high school spelling of her name to differentiate the two.

And Paula! You are in SUCH a different place than a year ago today! WOW.

Nancy...you were nursing your sore foot. And posting a lot about wine. So somethings don't change. :lmao:

Kat was posting her food, same as now, but she hadn't really come out of her shell that much yet.

Ahhh, good times. So freaking funny. And you forevermore will be EriKa. Deal.

Hey, guess what??? Nick and his 37 points just walked out the door until Sunday night! Emily is picked up at 2pm tomorrow! Footloose and fancy free!!!

OMG! How exciting! I'm so jelous!

So I guess I shouldn't chime in with being footloose and fancy-free just about every weekend.... ;)

Yeah, you really should shut it! Course now that you are freelancing barbed wire, your time is not your own.

Girl Scout Cookies. Samoas and Thin Mints. SO worth it. Here's the thing. They are only available once a year. Thus the big deal. People want what they can't have.

I celebrated my birthday tonight at the Olive Garden. Mmmm.

Had something else to say...yes, EriKa your suit. It was freaking expensive. Hope it works.

LisaV, your heart. Is. So. Big. :lovestruc

Oh and Roddy - "no big deal" - geezealou - you're gonna be a great husband.

Actually, I didn't pay that much. I think I paid $55 for it. Not too bad. But still, money is money. I have finally tried it on. It fits fine, I think. Though I am wondering about when it gets wet. It might sag. And it is NOT flattering. Not that any bathing suit is flattering on me, mind you. But I was hoping.

Tomorrow I will just do a little half mile run with it on to see how supportive it is for the girls.

Depending on how awful the pics from the tri turn out, I will post some. If there are any that are less-than-hideous, you will get to see them.

And here's another thing. That I will only post here. This suit is kinda hard to get into. The zipper is in the back and you have to be somewhat of a contortionist to get it zipped. So I will put it on at home, and then drive to the event. And I will be hydrating of course. There is no way I am going to be able to get it off to go to the bathroom. And since the swim event is first, um yeah, I may just pee in the pool! :scared1: :lmao: I likely won't be able to make myself do it, though! So I will just have to fight myself in the bathroom stall to get the damn thing unzipped and then rezipped.

Thanks for alll the thoughts guys. Erika, I knew you would understand. I know fail is a strong word but ESL is like that - either it clicks or doesn't. And they are so pumped to learn. And it's disappointing to not get something done. I was in a high school for many years. I gave everything there too, and learning is just as important, but it's not the same. With ESL you have adults being so incredibly vunerable ready to take in anything that they can. Some days when it doesn't flow it is draining. It's been many years and when suddenly something tanks it's something. Quite the feeling.

But I really was using my job as the example of something bigger. . It's really perfectionism - no ability to take in good with the bad that is totally draining me.

Liz- word on men not wanting to hear anything. I loved your post. Thanks Roddy. I have my thoughts on that. Strong ones. I think we hold ourselves back and I won't do it. I won't make it okay. One thing I adore about my father is that he's not like that. I'd call him more of a feminist than my mom.

Amiee - pics?

On my facebook. Are you on fb yet??

I'm heading to bed. Good night gang!

On my facebook. Are you on fb yet??

:lmao: :rotfl: Piss off Amiee. :rotfl: :lmao:

I was just cursing you going if I hear one more time "the pics are on my facebook" from one more flippin' person I'm going to lose it. My Lord.

Pictures please sleepyhead. I'll give you 24 hours. :surfweb: That's it.

How's that for a big heart cutie? :rotfl:

I adore piss off. Adore it.

Good morning everyone! First I would like to thank you all for your input. I do have coping strategies and I have determined that the less I react, the better off I am. I just needed to blow some steam and thanks for listening!

Erika, Super :cheer2: :cheer2: for your Tri!!! You will do well. And you will be fine with your suit. I have an Ironman on my "team" and he has a string on his zipper. I guess my other suggestion would be to ask the person nearby to unzip and or zip you. I have learned that races are not about modesty...otherwise I would not haul off on the side of the road somewhere. :rolleyes1 Just a FYI, I was at the bike shop at LL Bean last fall and they had tri shorts and wicking bra tops that may have been a better option for you.

So, if you did not get the Eat-Clean Diet book that I talked about yesterday, here is your pre-tri breakfast suggestion:
1/2 cup of rolled oats (not instant)
1 scoop protein powder (it says 2 but that is too much for my taste)
1 Tbsp wheat germ
1 Tbsp milled flax seed
2 Tbsp dried berries (blue, cran, raisins, etcetera)

Put this in a disposible cup and mix in some hot water. Let it sit while you get dressed and it will be ready to eat in the car on the way.

I always have a hard time before races as I like to eat about a half hour 45 minutes before but you have to be there so early. This works for me. I was doing something similar with instant oats and some berries with protein powder but this sticks with you better and does not upset my stomach. Peanut butter makes me not welly in the belly before a race so the bagel and PB thing does not work for me.

Anyway, super best of luck. I wish I could be there to cheer you on but somehow I have to get David to hockey from 9-10:30 and Shelby to field hockey from 9-11 a.m. in 2 different places about 30 minutes apart. :scared:

Paula, the Bosu add on is for your core. Anytime you can make yourself off balance while lifting weights, you have to engage your core. Just a little tip for everyone!! You are going to be buff before you know it.

Nancy, I had a similar occurrence with corral placement. I bootleg ran the WDW half in 2008 (shh don't tell) and started in the last corral because the person had no proof of time. I finished in 2:33:44 (not overly speedy as I said before) and this year, he moved up to corral C. Just goes to show how their placement goes. I think it is kind of like Erika said, just because you finish a full/half, you get moved up and then it is according to times.

Dawn, nice to see you back from your trip!!!

Everyone else,

CHALLENGE UPDATE: Miles for this week are 25.89. I weighed myself only once (I know shocking) this morning and I am officially 3 pounds from my goal weight!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: This new way of eating coupled with my dedication to get my miles in is definitely working for me.

Yesterday, I opted for a ski instead of a run. It was really beautiful out and the trails were fresh. I managed 3.89 miles in 50:54 which is not a bad pace for skiing. I met up with my SIL for the last 20 minutes which nearly killed me but on the up side, I finished sooner! I was going to put in the last .11 miles but I remembered that I had a longer run on Sunday and that would give me my total mileage for the week and I let it go. Today is 5 miles and girls to the gym day. Then, a quiet night at home with NOTHING to do and no practices to go to!! I will probably be asleep by 7!! :lmao: Saturday is the aforementioned practice snafu and then I have to take Shelby shopping for a prom dress. Sunday is another messy storm on tap and I have a 12 mile run. We will see how things go. I think this week I am going to have to wing the runs with a lot planned and very little time for me!

Have a great day everyone and thanks again for being there for me!! :flower3:

Good Morning!

WW weigh in last night was awsome. Down 2.4 pounds. Tracking and water are done for the challenge.

I only ate one of the GS cookies I bought. They really aren't the same this year. The lady I buy them from said they had a new baker this year for our area, so really not the same. Drew (ds18) didn't notice any difference, the tagalongs were all gone in one night.

Hope everyone has a Happy Friday!

Where is my *Raspberry* smile. Where is it. :confused3

Yeah, I think you are onto something there.

I celebrated my birthday tonight at the Olive Garden. Mmmm.

Yum. Love me some breadsticks :lovestruc

Depending on how awful the pics from the tri turn out, I will post some. If there are any that are less-than-hideous, you will get to see them.

Hideous or not, you must share. I think it's in the manual, right Lyz?

That's it. I'm never buying one of those suits. ever. If I can't pee, I'm done. :sad2:

1 Tbsp wheat germ

That recipe sounds good. And packed with nutrition. Something definitely worth trying, but not for the first time on race day! Call me superstitious, but I never, ever eat anything different on race day. I consider my food part of my training, and if I haven't eaten & trained on it, I'm not racing on it. :sad2:

Remember - you are talking to the one who packed a blender and protein powder in her suitcase when we ran the WDW full marathon. Yes. I took my blender. :rolleyes1

WW weigh in last night was awsome. Down 2.4 pounds. Tracking and water are done for the challenge.

Awesome, Sunny! :thumbsup2

My weekly challenge results:

tracked 6/7 (goal is 5/6)
water - lots
alcohol - none
exercise - 1735/2100

Nancy, the "porridge" as they call it would not bother me as I was eating something very similar before my races anyway but, you are right (and not superstitious), you should NEVER do anything new before a race. I listened to everyone before my first half and ate my oatmeal in my room and then brought a bagel and PB to the corral with my coffee. First up, the PB gave me such horrific heartburn that I nearly gagged the whole race and the coffee did not help me out any at all. In fact, it hit about the time we got jammed into the WDW corrals in never-never land. :lmao: Hence my learning to pull off the side of the road and use what nature provided...

The Eat-Clean Diet book has a couple versions of their morning meal and I am going to try a new one tomorrow morning made with quinoa and steel cut oats. I like variety in my breakfast but oatmeal is just a must for me. They recommend that you eat 3 egg whites with your oatmeal OR put protein powder in it to get the vital complex carb/protein combination. I have found that the meals they suggest have really stuck with me. I made a beef stew of sorts last night with sweet potato, red potato, tomatoes, celery, edemame, carrots, and our own "organic" stew beef. It was very hearty and 1 cup of it was all I needed. I will eat it for lunch again today. Plus, you get a slice of bread with it!!! How sweet is that???? :cloud9: There is a great bread recipe and a recipe for Ezekial bread in the cookbook that I cannot wait to try too. They have breakfast cookies and muffins that I may attempt this weekend too.

Um and, I have a Magic Bullet blender that goes everywhere with me and my own little 1 cup coffee maker. With the checked bag fees piling up, it is just making me pack more strategically. :sad2:

I listened to everyone before my first half and ate my oatmeal in my room and then brought a bagel and PB to the corral with my coffee.

Ugh. I never drink coffee until after I work out. Otherwise I would be in the bathroom the whole time! ;) And yeah. I found a PERFECT place to pee at the WDW 1/2  Thankfully when I ran the 1/2 it was before they changed the course- so there were loads of available bathrooms as we ran thru Epcot and MK, and *lovely* porta-potties on the course. But, when there is an emergency? yep. A girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do. :rolleyes1

Ok. Off to work out. Then to work. Have a great day all!
