In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Hey Everybody! Just popping by to say Hi! first. Just got home from work a few minutes ago.

Be back after I catch up!

But you know what's even funnier? :confused3 :confused3 The thought of Roddy squirming because he thinks he might have offended me

Seriously though Roddy -it's ok. Really it is.:thumbsup2

 He hasn't been around long enough to know your like a hyper active 12 year old. With the humor to match.

Roddy, we won't let Nancy have a whistle. Just sayin'.

This is probably a bad time to mention this but I've eaten goat before. :rotfl2:

And no Lyz, it wasn't at a ritualistic gathering. :rotfl:

Goat tacos. Absolutely delicious.

Hi all.

Weigh in day today, i was down 1 lb, which i feel isn't too bad, b/c i figured i was going to gain back all 4.5 lbs i lost last week once i was able to eat solid food again!

The ten day mark from my surgery was today, so i'm able to go back to the gym tomorrow. I'm pretty excited, i've actually missed it.

OH, and sorry i've been MIA this week. I was busy.......... buying a house!

Yep, we found one, bought it, inspection is this weekend, so assuming nothing is drastically wrong, that baby is mine! :yay:

Have to catch up on posts!

Very funny. :lmao: mostly 'cause it's true :rolleyes1

A whistle? Why no whistle :confused3

not a bad time at all. We have 2 different kinds of goats. The dairy goats we have for milk, and the kids 4H projects. The meat goats are for, well, things like tacos.

(Sorry Erika :flower3: )

Wow! Exciting! Yay on the loss. You really could have put back on those sick pounds, but you still lost. That's a big thing!

A whistle? Why no whistle :confused3 [/B][/COLOR]

:sad2: I could imagine. With your patrol authority!

I didn't know it was goat in the tacos until I had already eaten one of them or I'd probably not have eaten it. A guy and his wife that I worked with brought them to a Christmas party we had at work one year. They're from Mexico and his wife made tacos with goat to bring to the dinner. I saw authentic Mexican tacos and began eating and he asked "did like the tacos." I said "Heck yes I did". Then I asked if it was beef or pork. He said "it's a goat". I was a little shocked at first then quickly complacent with the idea when I went back for another taco. :rotfl2:

I know I am not going to get to everyone, but it's been a crazy day and I have a crazy week-end, so my apologies.

Roddy--we love goat humor around here! It is only surpassed by hog humor! Speaking of...Lyz...when do the hogs arrive this year? And are you going to get 2 again?

Nancy--oh no! I know that it is totally irrational, but I am so sad about that tiny goat. It is all part of the natural order and all of that, but for some reason the little guy got to me. I was just picturing him in his little box with a heat lamp and all. When I read the post, I said a little prayer for his goat soul. Crazy, I know.

And I know you don't really eat the goats. They go off to a lovely and wonderful farm where they romp and play and live to a ripe old age. :lovestruc

Yes, it's making a big difference. I am keeping my speed around 5 mph. I start slower and finish faster. I haven't tried to speed up since I faltered on the first five minute run. It's been smooth sailing since.

I know it's way too soon to worry about speed, but I'm obsessing about whether or not I can maintain a pace that will let me stay on the course for the WDW Half. I have decided to run for so many reasons, but I could run a half anywhere. I want the Disney medal. I read someone's trip report that while her net time was under three and a half hours, it wasn't within three and a half hours of the "start" and she didn't get a medal at first. It didn't record her chip time either.

SO much to say here! First, starting slow and finishing faster is what you SHOULD do! :rotfl2: It is what seasoned runners strive for. It is called running negative splits. So how far ahead of the game you already are and you didn't even know!

You will NOT get swept at the Half. Seriously, many people walk the whole thing. And for those who are worried about getting swept, the sure-fire way to stay ahead of the sweepers is every time you get to a mile marker, you run for like the first 2 minutes and then resume your walking pace for the rest of the mile. If you do that the whole way, you won't get swept. And you can already do that, right? Right. So you will be great.

Kelly--love the dress. I could never pull something like that off as it is a tall, lanky dress. I am the queen of short and stocky!

Challenge info. coming. Does anyone want to be the new Challenge Czar? Or should I keep doing it? I certainly don't mind, but if anyone is dying for a try, be my guest. I don't want to monopolize the challenges.

Thanks, everyone, for the well wishes for Riley. He came through it like a champ. He is now resting peacefully in the play room so that he doesn't have to deal with stairs while on crutches. Plus, I have to wake him up ever 2-3 hours all night so that he can take his meds.

I got an awesome compliment from the nursing staff at the hospital. They didn't even know I heard. They were just talking to each other, so that makes it even better, you know? I was joking around with him before going into the OR and while in the OR--just busting on him good-naturedly (they let parents go in to the OR and stay with the child until he/she is out. Have to wear surgical gowns and everything). Making sure he was relaxed and in a good space, etc. And then when he came out of it, I was talking with him again. Anyway, the nurses were on the other side of the curtain chatting to each other and one said, "Wow, she is such a good mom for a boy!" And went on and on about how a lot of moms don't relate as well to their sons, etc. It just made my day.

Now, however, it is after 10pm and I am just sitting down to get my actual JOB stuff done for the day. Ugh. This is one of the drawbacks of my work, for sure.

E - Happy Anniversary! I'm so glad to hear that Riley came through so well!!!

Nancy - i think you are honestly the first person i've ever known to be sad when your iron died ;) ..... Baby Goat?!?!

Paula - a loss again. You are just rocking it lately, very inspirational. Great job girl!

LisaV - Honey  i'm sorry

LisaPR - I love reading your advice, i feel that it is always well rounded and balanced. I think you really bring alot to the discussion.... i can understand and appreciate your need to back away, i just hope that you don't stay away too long.....

How long will the next challenge be? I have our vacay to the poly (first time!!) it is a trip for our 1st anniversary (going a month early so we miss kids being out of school and the scorching June sun!). We leave May 6 and my goal for this trip had been to lose 25 lbs (goal made Jan 1) Only 8 lbs to go!!!

Still reading..... sorry to anyone i may have missed.

Oh and Stacey! Congrats on the loss, but more importantly the HOUSE! LINK! We want to see! SO exciting!

Oh yeah, EriKa - forgot. Happy Anniversary.

The hogs - should arrive in April. I'm tired already thinking about it. Mol is excited. We'll get two. But someone else will take the extra, it will not be in my freezer.

Funny, your goat heaven.

Those are nice comments from the nurses. I bet you were riding him.

Roddy - much pepperoni is goat meat. Or I was told that. That's FAUX goat meat for you EriKa. It's not real.

And for Roddy and Kat...here is my Vegetarian Chili Recipe. As you can see, it is SUPER easy and takes like 15 minutes to throw together. It is basically fat free, all protein, and only healthy carbs. Seriously, it is like the most nutritionally perfect meal!

1 (19 ounce) can black bean soup (I usually use the dried "Fantastic" brand of Black Bean soup)
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained (NOTE: I am not a fan, so I omit these completely. Sometimes I substitute with black or red kidney beans, sometimes extra baked beans)
1 large can vegetarian baked beans
1 (14.5 ounce) can chili tomatoes
1or 2 cups frozen whole kernel corn
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon chili powder, or to taste
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried basil

Note: play with seasoning as you see fit. I often add 1/2 cup sugar (yes! sweet and hot chili! Makes for a great combo. I also add some hot sauce...again, just throw stuff in to taste.)

DIRECTIONS
In a slow cooker, combine black bean soup, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, baked beans, tomatoes, corn, onion, bell pepper and celery. Season with garlic, chili powder, parsley, oregano and basil. Cook for at least two hours on High.

Stacey - ohh the house looks awesome. And I love the painted walls. Did you like that or are you going to change it? Well, except for the hot pink daughters room. Man that was bright. Maybe you'll have a girl first, lol.

So exciting. And a fenced in back yard for your dog!

Sounds yummy!

Yeah, still haven't caught up. Haven't even read much either yet!

That is such a cool compliment. Every now and then it's nice to get a, "yeah, I'm doing this right" feeling.

I am the queen of short and stocky!
I am genetically cursed on this count. The Grandma O gene slipped through and stopped me at 5'4". My mother is at least 5'8" - and it's her mother that got me! Dad, brother - all tall. I can't see over the cubes at work. I want a tiny step stool in my kitchen for the top shelf.

STACEY! What an awesome house! Wow, I was totally expecting a typical "starter house" since it is your first and you are young, etc. But this is so not a starter! LOVE it!
