In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

I love the idea of tag teaming on this one!!!!! My birthday is on the 12th, but we can use the 19th as our target date for our goal. So... my question is who else is in???? I smell a mini challenge here....

Paula

Ok We are talking OCTOBER right? if that is the month than I am in!! I think I can do it~ the little train that could~~:lmao:

LIZ!!! You are under 170. That is SO AWESOME.

Erika, a little boxing class on your day off. You are a machine.

On the job front, I have had two more nibbles this week. One would be pharma, the other is gov't (office of the court).... the more I stew, the more done I am here...

Kat - congrats on the nibbles... I'm sure that one of them will come through and be a perfect fit for you. If it helps, I know that once I get discouraged with my employer to the point where I am actively looking for another job, I know I am done. I never entertain counter offers to stay. (of course I say this as the somewhat frustrated employee right now so as I said, take it for what its worth...)

Keep us posted...

Okay, you weigh in on Monday? I weigh in on Wed...let's say by sept 15th/17th. Does that work for you? It gives us 11 weeks. 15 is ambitious in 11 weeks, but we can work on it!

Thanks Paula!! Okay warning, rant ahead...

Yeah, once I am frustrated I am likely done too. If they promoted me the way they should have, though, I might consider it, I guess However, the trust and like I had for them has started to ebb, and the conditions outside my team continue to remain awful (and always have, really). It was only thinking that they liked me and felt I was a contributer that kept me here. Not that I didn't get that "said" on my review, but the 3 out of 5 and the lack of communication of the issues that dragged it down BEFORE the review are really what are getting to me.

Also, I talked to someone else here on another team that knows me fairly well, and he was appalled that I got a 3. He thought my boss liked me too, and he has never gotten less than a 4 even though he and I have a lot the same style (the tell it like it is, upfront thing) and has been docked on a few of the same issues that I was.

I think of of the problems is that my boss works 7:30AM-7:30PM+ every day, plus the night and weekend stuff that we all deal with. That makes his baseline performance probably a bit skewed. Put in 10 hours a day + the night/weekend stuff, and you aren't a 4 compared to him I guess. But that is an unrealistic expectation.

I also think that he feels that 100% of your workday should be 110% focused on work and nothing else. I am a "burst" worker... get a TON of stuff done in a short amount of time, and then screw around for a while, wander, etc. I am also very responsible and will stay and get things done, and answer the phone at 3AM, and follow up almost all of the time (everyone makes mistake and forgets things, of course, but I am probably a 98% hit rate).

I have four requirements for something new... 1) pays more, 2) more responsibility or at least the possibility of that happening in the next 2 years, and 3) closer to home, and 4) Flexibility on telecommute, hours, etc. Any one of of the first two being really high (like, lead position, 20K more) would make me jump for sure, of course!!

Sounds like Steph is in as well.... yeah!!!!

Kat -

These all sound like legitimate and more importantly, realistic expectations for an employee to have of their employee. It is not too much to expect to have an action plan for your future growth and it is not too much to expect to have someone recognize the work that you do on a realistic scale. Hang tough... As I have been told many times in the past, the only one responsible for your future is you. From the sounds of things, it sounds like your future is in great hands...

Paula

okay 0 so I am in on the challenge as well for Sept..what exactly do we need to lose by then? My B-day is August 23 so that is great idea to get me motivated...Liz - when did you start again with ww? My question is how long has it taken you to drop the 66 fabulous freakin pounds!:worship:

#2 who is on board for the Lyz train? - I need you all to pm me your addresses and e-mails so I can send out a mass info sheet and packets right away.

Liz and I are focusing on 15 pounds by mid September, but you can set your own goal... Welcome aboard...

Paula

1. Count me in for the challenge. 15 lbs by Sept 19.

2. Don't pull the Lyz train out. I'm just not too confident about that tactic. (I'll pm you Dawn.)

Paula, thanks for the encouragement. It really means a lot.

One of my nibbles has turned into a bite. Keep your fingers crossed for me Friday from 12:30-1:30. :)

My Labor Day challenge is 5 lbs, but I am hoping to get to goal by then... not expecting, but hoping!

We are all there for each other. As Erika put it earlier today, that is why this board is so great...

KAT, that is great!!! I will.

Ok, question about exercise. I have read over and over that if you weight train, you should only do so every other day. To give you muscles a day to rebound.

I am not really lifting weights, more like resistance exercising. Using resistance bands and such. Which I really enjoy. But not sure if I need a day in between or not. I'd like to everyday, I am targeting my thighs and arms. But if I'm harming the progress by doing so everyday, I can go every other.

Hey all - without retyping to everyone - what we spoke about - if Lyz is not in need of it still - how bout the proceeds going to Liz's cancer fundraiser? It still is a great tol to help...and we can just switch recipients??? I am already starting so let me know... :thumbsup2

Liz - what is your fundraising goal? :confused3

Paula - I will call you tonight regarding it... :3dglasses

Oh, I would LOVE that. My goal is $1,000. Thanks for thinking of it!

Kat - yeah for nibbles!!!! And BITES!

Lyz - I think you need a day off in between, from what I have read. But ask Erika or Nancy, they are the pros.

Lyz, I think you need a day off in between too. Another thought is to work different muscle groups each day... like today do legs, tomorrow do biceps/back, the next day do triceps/chest/shoulders, etc.

I was looking into the Fri thing some more... could save me up to 200 miles a week in commute time (~$2K in gas a year, not to mention the time it would save), and could be up to a 5-10K hike (we talked $$ already). Plus, pharma is nice and stable. I am trying not to get too excited...

It is settled - anyone wanting to help Liz raise funds...pm me their address...$1000 in a blink of an eye baby!;)

I will mail out stuff tomm..

Quick post now...longer one later this evening. (Lyz...coming up with a training plan for you...no, don't worry! It will be fair and fun and doable! :goodvibes )

YES, I am in for the Sept. challenge. Since I don't lose actual pounds...:rotfl2: ...my goals are to (1) be able to run 10 miles; and (2) be a solid size 4.

Not ignoring anyone or any posts...just have to get dinner going, etc.

Kat, you're brilliant. I didn't think of that option.

Who is pharma? Sounds like a good deal.

 and a nail biting smiley too!!!

That's a good goal.

Bye the way, I was wondering, how long does it take to run 8 miles? And do you just start running, like say from your house and once you reach 4 miles, turn around and run back? Or do you go around and around a subdivision? And how do you know that you hit 4 miles?

Lyz, you forgot the most important question: Why would you want to run for 8 miles? :lmao:

Me, I'm off to my own learn-to-run tonight. Nick is coming with me. I am going to try the C25K run for a minute walk for 90 secs...I'll let you know how it goes. If I can run for five minutes, that would be an improvement.
