Ok, so I AM BACK! And I finished! AND I WAS NOT LAST!!!

The end result: I finished in 31:15. That means that I ran 10:05 minute miles. I am OVER-THE-TOP excited with that number! That is MUCH fast than I have ever run!
:yay: :cheer2: Good for you:yay: :cheer2:

hey guys...on my screen the pic of Baylor looks smaller but the other 3 still look huge...is that the way you see it as well?:confused3

I've been out of town all weekend working on wedding stuff (making 250 custom waterbottles by myself was quite possibly one of the STUPIDEST decisions to date! 12 hours of my life i will never get back...) but i wanted to catch up a bit before going off to work.

Erika- WOW congrats on the race, you did GREAT, i knew you could do it!!!! :woohoo:

Dawn - bah, once a turd, always a turd, and they get turdier with age.... sorry he's being stupid! You have such good looking kids though!! They must have gotten that trait from you! ;)

Well, i'm pretty much at the month mark for the wedding, and i'm starting to slowly loooooooose my mind  My grampa goes in for his biopsy today, i'm hoping and praying it goes well, they are supposed to get the results right away today, so i feel it will be a long day until i hear.... On top of his pain from the masses and inflammation on his liver and pancreas, he has diverticulitis as well, and he is scared, it's so hard to see him like that :guilty:

Well, don't want to be a downer! I hope everyone had a great weekend, and i'll be around to catch up on more later

Sorry but I need to see if this one sizes different...on my screen the other 3 still look

Good morning everyone!

It has been too quiet here! It is a gorgeous spring day in Maine so I ran my beach run from Kel's school again this morning. Today was my long run day (6 miles) and after yesterday's race, I was not up for it.

So yes, Nancy, today I had the fights going in my head the whole time.."But I just ran a race yesterday and I went really fast..." "Shut up...it was only 3 miles and you were scheduled for 3.8 so you actually have make-up work to do.." And on and on. But I finsihed. Only because it was so beautiful at the beach today. I didn't have the mental battle during the race though. I knew that once I started I had to finish. No options there.

About calories...I gotta tell you all, I am baffled. As you all know (and everyone in my freaking life knows! :lmao: ) I haven't had measureable loss in ages and ages.

Ok, so I started WW figuring that it is a program that it known to work and I needed guidance, etc. I was ultra perfect on that program for 4 weeks (maybe 5?) and zip...nothing...nada.

One thing everyone was telling me was that I was not eating enough calories for my level of activity. So I figured, what the hell, I'll eat more for two weeks and see what happens. I was careful. I didn't go wile and I only healthy things...just more of them. And I gained weight. Gee, that was fun. :sad2:

Then my nutritionist said that I should be around 1400 - 1500 cals. per day (and he did a resting BMR and all that stuff). Great. Tried that. 3 weeks and no change.

So my only remaining option is to go with LESS calories. If this doesn't work, then I just don't know what I will do. I would not be opposed to a Jenny Craig type of program, but I can't do that considering I cook for a family all day. Plus, I don't want to just keep doing different things every few weeks. But one thing I know about JC (and Nutrisystem and other programs like that) is that they would have me on a 1200 cal/day program. So, that is why I am thinking along those line.

It is going to be incredibly hard. When I come in from a long run, like today, I am so weak and shaky...I just need FUEL. I eat about 400 calories post-run...so that does not leave very much to get through the rest of the day with.

Oh, and DAWN---

In one of your posts last week you said that you and Dan were starting a new program today. Yes, I caught that! You didn't think I was going to let that slide, did ya? :lmao:

So, it is accountability time. What are you doing? What is your plan? Have you had any water today?????

And LIZ--you have been far too quiet for days (with like one measly post a day...)! What gives? Everything ok?

Erica I see that you are doing the WW have you tried switching back and forth from the core and Flex plan I hear that works some time. I also noticed that the week that I walked daily I gained because muscle weighs more than fat! I didn't walk this week it is to cold for me, I will be going today because it is above 55. Yes I am a wus! I spent on weekend in Maine in January and I stayed inside all weekend while my dad walked around in shorts (outside).
My thought with the jenny craig and nutria system is that once you stop buying the food you go back to your old ways, thus eating poorly again.
just some of my thoughts

I actually stopped counting points a while ago in favor og going strictly with calories. And yeah, I know about the muscle vs. fat thing as well. For a while that was fine because I was losing inches but not pounds. And at the end of the day, I am more concerned with that as opposed to what the numbers on the scale say. But now even that has stopped.

I really have no plans to do JC...my only point in bringing that up was to say that they would also have me eating 1200 calories.

I only have 12-13 pounds left to lose, so I am sure that is part of the problem as well.

But thanks so much for your input...I am listening to as many opinions as I can...eventually something will work.

Yes...we are doing all protein today..no carbs if I can help it...

Had an omlet for B-fast w/ cheese, eggs, 2 pieces of sausage, lil onion, sour cream and a tablespoon of salsa...NO BREAD...and a huge glass of water..32 oz or so...

I need to go to the grocery store to get supplies to start the official "plan" it was developed for those with bipass surgery to maintain a smaller stomach...I will try and let you know...the party ran so late yesterday..need to go to bank and get checks in to get money out to go get the supplies...but I have them ready to go and will start and post tomm...but I will not do carbs today just as a way of not sliding too far...

Dan weighed at 341 today..his original starting with us was 352...and
I weighed in at 250.6 yesterday...highes with us was 256.6...so here we go...

Have a party tonight as well...will go for a long walk today before...

Yeah...where are ya Lizzard??

=About calories...I gotta tell you all, I am baffled. As you all know (and everyone in my freaking life knows! :lmao: ) I haven't had measureable loss in ages and ages.

I can fully understand - because I've been there! I will relate my personal experiences and my reasoning behind why I think you should consider trying eating more later this afternoon (I PROMISE!) :goodvibes

This is just a quicky "catch up" for me here....

Have 3 kinda exciting things to share (yes, my family is doing it's part to spur on the economy...:scared: )

First - we found an absolutely perfect used car for our 3rd vehicle. Having 3 drivers with 2 cars has been managable to this point (we have a unique situation where DH works from home, and I work PT 1.5 miles away..almost always a car in the garage...)...but one of those "cars" is actually an extended cab pick up truck that gets 13-14 miles per gallon - the other is my minivan at 19 mpg....SO...we're getting a 2001 Honda Accord...5 speed...82,000 miles, impecible maintenance records....and great price (we know the previous owner). So exciting!

Second (and MORE exciting to me...) I BOUGHT A NEW BIKE! :yay: :yay: :yay: And in case you were wondering, NO, not a motorcycle...a bicycle! :woohoo: :woohoo: I've been riding a mountain bike, which is great and all...but I just bought a road bike and now I'll be cruisin' like Lance! My very good friend & workout partner just bought one as well...and now we are going to start looking for an event to ride..

And third (quite exciting, but oddly not as exciting as the bike is to me...:rolleyes1 ) DH just booked us a trip to Cancun for the 1st week of December to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. (ummm..no kids...grandma already put that week on her calendar :yay: )

DAWN - AWESOME JOB YESTERDAY! You ARE the Tupperware Queen (you need the sash and tiera now!)

Hope everyone is having a good day! :sunny:

Ok, Nancy, I will wait (impatiently, though...:lmao: ) for your words of wisdom!

As for the bike--WOO HOO! I totally understand your excitement! I have my eye on a Giant OCR3 right now so that I can do a mini-tri at the end of the summer. I haven't bought it yet b/c I am holding out for Mother's Day...:rolleyes1

And DAWN--totally forgot to congratulate you on your awesomeness! You are the Tupperware Goddess of all time!

Erika, I still think 1200 is a good plan, at least for a week or two to see what happens. I work out like a *fiend* (Liz can attest, I gave her the run-down of my workout plan last night), and I am losing plenty.

Do you eat before your run? I usually have a high-fiber high-carb 100 calorie snack about 45-1.5 hours before, as well as my cup of coffee. And I always eat lunch right after, a HUGE salad w/ light dressing, some protein (turkey), carbs (wrap), dairy (light cheese and/or a fatfree yogurt or lowfat cottage cheese), and fruit. Usually comes to 300 cals or so and is TONS of food. Sometimes I throw in 5 or 6 almonds for more protein and a bit of fat.

Oh, and quiet here because work is killing me again.

And, D's company filed for bankruptcy today. That was the big announcement.

Sorry about work--again!

Yes, I eat a 100-calorie serving of Fiber One cereal with some skim milk (included in the 100 cals.). Then post-run it is all about protein (as it should be after every work-out. You always want to have a ton of protein as soon as you can after a workout...this is what will build your muscles back up after you break them down in your workout). Post run I usually have a 3 egg white only omelet and a slice of double protein toast, 5 almonds, and then usually something else...like a 100-calorie bar of some sort. This is what I need to cut out, as it has more sugar than I need, etc.

I have that late in the morning, so I don't need a snack before lunch. Lunch is different every day...often a ff yogurt, an apple, some whole grain crackers with lf cheese. Stuff like that. Today I had a serving of left-over rice and bean casserole (note to vegetarians: long grain brown rice and beans combine is a complete protein and WAY better than animal protein in terms of weight loss and muscle building. It is one of the only ff COMPLETE proteins available).

Late afternoons can kill me...I am famished at about 4pm and if I am not careful, I can just blow through some calories without even thinking about it.

Dinner is usally a huge salad...lots of leafy greens, toms, broc, cauliflower, sunflower seeds, a small amount of cheese, and 1/2 can of tuna.

I work till late at night, as you know, so I have to save some calories for that. I can't make it from 6pm to midnight (or later!) without anything.

OMG! I am in SHOCK!

They just posted the race results for my race yesterday....I PLACED!!!

I didn't place overall, of course. But for my age group (30 - 39), they post the TOP 10...and I came in 8th! Overall, I came in 44 out of 94...that is the TOP HALF of the pack, baby!

YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!:cool1: :thumbsup2 :worship:

Erika, you KICK BUTT. I knew you could do it.

I am back to the too stressed and irritated to eat diet. I have had two people today (who were out most of last week) pretty much go OMG you have dropped weight in the last week. I guess that is what day after day of this crap can do to you. You know when you START your day at 7AM with a problem call, that things are not going to be good for you. The bottom fell out again around 2PM, and then D called during with his news, and bleah. I need a drink.

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled program. Erika, this is my general food day:
B: fiber one + milk + large travel mug of coffee w/ sweetnlow, equivalent to about 80 cals

Lunchtime workout is either 45 min of arc trainer on interval level 4, usually averaging 450-500 cals burned, or 45 min of weight training and 30 min of elliptical on random level 7. This is done on Tues (weights/cardio), Wed (cardio), and Saturday (weights/cardio).

L: Either a south beach wrap kit, or a flaxseed pita (60 cals, 4g fiber) w/ lean lunchmeat and a laughing cow cheese and a big salad consisting of romaine, cucumber, red onion, reduced fat bacon (sometimes), w/ lite three cheese ranch (~100).

S (or part of L, depending): Fruit (apple or strawberries) and a lowfat cottage cheese or ff yogurt

D: On hockey days, usually a ~400 calorie frozen meal high in protein and fat, about an hour before hockey. On non-hockey days, all depends... some sort of lean meat, LOTS of veggies (usually broccoli or an artichoke).

Hockey: Mondays 1.25 hours, Thursdays is 2 hours.

S: 1 bag orville 94% ff popcorn is the most common... sometimes veggies and ff spinach dip w/ 1 serving ff pringles

I almost always wind up somewhere between 1000 and 1200 calories, maybe 1 or 2 days a week under 1000. I do not go over 1200 except about every other week on a weekend. I drink at least 64 oz of plain water, as well as my morning coffee and one caffeinated soda at lunch. I also drink decaf sodas and flavored waters at night.

See you really do rock!!!!:thumbsup2 Very nice Ericka very nice.

I just had to come on a tell you what my Dd Sara just said, it is nothing like placing in a race which I may say is so seriouly awsome!! But it made me do a high five with her, I was looking at pictures we took from soccer on the computer and she looked at me and said are you losing weight! Your face looks thin, I think I smiled from ear to ear. I know I have been because my size 22 pants are way to big and my 20's are bagging in the butt and I don't have to suck in to zip them up. So just knowing someone else can tell made my day. Just thought I would share.

We have a soccer game tonight so I need to make supper and then take off, I will check in with you all tonight, maybe I can get the AIM to work.

Hope everyone else is having a good day. Jodi

Jodi--that is SO awesome! There is nothing like it when someone notices your loss! WOO HOO!!!

Kat--thanks for posting your food. It is amazingly similar to what I eat. My exercise looks like this:

--Run 5x/week anywhere from 40 - 70 minutes
--Strength train 3x/week - 1 hour each time (INTENSE now that I am doing it with the trainer and BL-style workouts)
--Tennis 2x/week - 90 minutes each

Tonight's tennis match was HORRIFIC for me. I could not move. I mean, they had to hit the ball right to me b/c after doing my long run this morning and the race yesterday, I could not go after the ball at all. It was awful. I don't know what to do. Tennis is my first passion and I won't stop playing and really don't want to screw up my game. But all of the running has made my quads and hams strong, but my hip flexors are just mush....and my hips were (and still are KILLING me)...I mean, I was truly hobbling on the court. I felt just awful for my opponents (on my own team tonight, we just played each other, thank goodness) b/c I could not give them any kind of game.

On a positive note, I was voted Captain again, so that made me feel better. And that was even after my terrible showing.
