In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

Hehe Jodi. I am boring, just use plain black.

Okay, I went to the gym and did 40 min on the arc trainer and 100 crunches, and they were closing and I felt like maybe I could do more. So I had the bright idea to do Jillian Michael's Shred, level 2 this time. Okay, that woman is a freakin sadist!! I made it about 10 min through level 2, stopped it, and then did level 1 again.

Oh, and Liz IMed me while I went through my "thin" drawer and tried on clothes... there were many 10s in there that buttoned and zipped!! Not really wearable yet, but close. Most of the 12s were wearable, and I "found" a few pairs of shorts for WDW and a skirt or two for work.

Erika, I *know* that you will make it up that hill. We will all be pushing you up it, just remember that.

UGH...here is the forecast for tomorrow:

A steady rain in the morning with temps right around 40. Showers continuing in the afternoon. High 48F. Winds E at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a half an inch.

Uphill in the rain...why did I do this again?

Erika -

I don't care what anyone else does in this race tomorrow, but I know you will take on the hill and conquer it. You have such inner strength that you are not going to let a thing like a hill break you. I mean you have been a diet and exercize freak with unwavering committment despite not always getting the results you have wanted.

All I can tell you is that when you get to the hill, I want you to think of us because we will all be there lining that part of the route cheering you on in spirit.

You can do this!!!! You ARE a runner!!!!
and yes, I did borrow the purple for a moment because you need to see this in your signature color...

Good luck tomorrow - I know I will be cheering you on...

Goof

Girl give me some of your strenght :worship: you just keep doing more and more. What is your ideal pant size?

I just signed up on AIM but not sure what to do now, I tried putting in your names thought I added you to my friends. What is wrong?

Erika - you had better be asleep by now...but

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!

Remember- the first mile is the hardest! And by that, I mean...the hardest to run at your own pace. It's going to be soooo tempting to run too fast. Between the adreneline (sp) and the feeling that you are the Clydsdale amongst the Thoroughbreds...if you are not really, really overly careful, you may end up running your first mile in like 8 minutes (trust me. done that. burn out fast when that happens!) Tune everyone out, get into your groove and HAVE FUN!

I'll try to catch up with everyone tomorrow...

oh - and news flash for Erika....(you'd better sit down for this one)....for the way that you exercise, 1400 calories is NOT enough for you. trust me on this one...been there, done that...I'll explain more tomorrow..

My ideal would be an 8. I would have to get to about 145 or so to be there, I think. 150 is my current goal (and about 16 lbs away), but I want to get there and see how I feel, and I may want to go lower. I am 5'8" so anything under 140 is probably not a good idea.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree here. I am averaging an hour a day lately of cardio and/or weights, including 2 days of 2 hours of ice hockey, and I eat between 1100 and 1200 a day. I do eat nutrition-rich, calorie-sparse, fiber-rich foods and drink tons of water, and have a cheat night about once every 2 weeks. And I have dropped 26 lbs in 3 months.

I have read a lot about starvation mode and such lately, enough to come to the conclusion that you would have to go lower than 800 even w/ a very active lifestyle, before it would really be an issue, and that is more from a malnutrition standpoint than anything else. You may slow your metabolism down some, but it is still creating such a calorie deficit that you will continue to lose weight. And yes, you may burn through a bit of muscle tissue, but I know for me personally I would rather be on the thin side than on the muscular sidel, plus weight training can help offset that.

Just my $.02. We are all, of course, welcome to our own opinion. :goodvibes

And finally... GOOD LUCK ERIKA!!!

You are right. This is your first race. You are not expected to win. Your goal should be not to trip when all the racers take off!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I am only laughing because this would be me! I can fall by just standing still I am the worlds biggest cluts!!

Good luck tomorrow oops today!

Thank you all so so so much for your support! I can't tell you how helpful it has been!

Ok, so I AM BACK! And I finished! AND I WAS NOT LAST!!!

It was raining and cold...and what a trip! Having never done a race before, I wasn't completely sure what to expect, but I thought I had read enough and asked enough questions from my WISH teammates that I knew what to expect.

WRONG!

I specifically chose this race because it was just a little local 5k/5 miler. I figured it would just be area locals who run for fitness, etc. OMG there were like REAL REAL REAL runners there. I mean like semi-pro people. And they were all greased up and stuff and wearing running tights (which look like granny panties, I swear, just skin tight and made of spandex), and they were doing that high-step jogging thing before the race to get all warmed up. They were SERIOUS as SH*T, I tell ya.

It was at this point that even Jeff began to freak out. He was all calm before...just another run to him (though it was his first race, too...but he has been running for years and years). And then he saw the running freaks and he turned to me and said, "I am so not happy with you right now...and I have 5 miles to think about what you can do to make this up to me...":lmao:

There were LOTS of people there that I knew. I literally bumped into my SIL (she was doing the 5, of course, cause she is a skinny mom). I thought that the rain might keep the prima donas away, but nope...they just had their color-coordinated running hats and tights on.

Scoping out the crowd, I looked for some people that were more normal sized...not just the twigs that could run. I figured I would keep near them. I was somewhat confident when I saw a group of 60-something women all wearing matching t's that said they were some sort of walking group. Phew. Walkers are good. Even a slow runner will come in ahead of walkers.

So, the national anthem is sung, the horn goes off, and the race has started. The first half mile or so is just everybody weaving in and out of the crowd and trying to get their own pace and space. Once I was in a bit of a groove, I turned my iPod on and try to just have "my run."

Well, they had a clock at the one-mile mark. And man, Nancy, I wish I had read your post BEFORE the race. Yup, my first miles was 9:25! Now, for anyone who considers him/herself a runner, this is NOT fast. But this was a full minute faster than my FASTEST mile on record. CRAP! If I didn't slow down, I wasn't going to finish.

Ok, at this point, I am running out by the ocean and just trying to feel good. I was thinking of all of you guys and a couple of the volunteers who were helping the runners commented that I was the only person they saw smiling! That made me laugh!

So I am feeling pretty good about myself because I know that there are lots of people behind me...and then I got to the HILL! I did really well up the hill! Yup, body boarders pushed me all the up it! :grouphug: But then there was about half a mile left of the race...straight and flat to the finish line. And I had very little left.

I knew I would finish, but there would be no "extra boost" and kicking it in to get to the finish line. It would just be a slow jog. And at that exact moment, Jeff came running up from the other direction. He had finished his race and then doubled back to come and escort me to the finish. I fell in love with him all over again at that moment.

He really tried to push me to turn up the fire to get to the finish, but let me go at my pace.

The end result: I finished in 31:15. That means that I ran 10:05 minute miles. I am OVER-THE-TOP excited with that number! That is MUCH fast than I have ever run!

My mom and kids were there at the finish...soaking wet. They got photos which I will post soon.

Ok, time for brunch...Jeff is making a victory brunch for us all.

LOVE YOU GUYS and thanks for everything!

Well, if you remember my nutrition consultation fiasco...he said that I should be at about 1400-1500, so that is what I have been aiming for. But no results there in the 2-3 weeks I have been doing it (granted, I went on that mini-vacation in there), but still...I am going to drop it to 1200 like you and see how that goes for a while.
Let me know....
Erika, Promise! Positive thoughts heading your way!

Liz, you look amazing. You've inpired me to stick with WW again.

I've joined a gym, just last week, I can hardly lift my arms!

Kat, I love your dining report

Dawn, I've never laughed as much as I did reading your pre trip report. Can't wait to read more.
Aww shucks..did you have a depends moment?
I'm still not caught up here. Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration. Everyone posting weight loses and maintaining, is very motivational! I'm off to the gym-

Vicki

I miss like half a day and I feel like I have been away for weeks!!!
I sooo agree...hate missing you guys...
Can I just say, again, how much I adore all of you? Your support and friendship mean the world to me. You are all, without question, the most supportive people in my life on this quest for a body and weight I am satisfied with. It is truly amazing to come here are read everything you write. :grouphug:
Liz - Thanks for speaking the truth to the man...you are so right in the jorney to weight loss and better lives is a proccess and we are all at different stages...but no matter what...I feel closer to you all than many I have known for years...
Erika - you are a warrior! You are doing sooo well! I have never seen a woman handle her life with such aplomb. Those other women may run faster, but you run the better race, my friend. I agree with Kat and Lyz - I could not do what you do, all of it together. Talk about someone to look up to.

So there's your race pep talk! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Kat, I am so proud of you and the work you have done for yourself. You are totally the reason I even attempt the scary machines at the gym! And you are my benchmark for weight loss, too - always there, so I can see where I will be one day!

Vicki, thank you. I love WW. I needed the accountability and support and I needed things to be easy. It has been great for me. I started Oct 24th and am down 54lbs.

Jodi, I am so with you, sister. You said it. We have to learn that making ourselves a priority only helps our families because we are healthy and happy.

Stephanie, I am glad you are here! We can talk WW if you want. ;)

Lyz, glad Maddie is feeling better! :goodvibes

Okay, friends, I will be on IM tonight. My house might actually be back in one piece by the end of the weekend! We might not have to eat in the living room anymore. I can't wait! Talk later?
I need help...signed onto aim...but like Jodi...no clue how to find the IM area...talked w/ Kat and she started it so it popped up and now I have no clue...anyone with AIM...please give me explicit instructions...or let me call you tonight...
Thank you all so so so much for your support! I can't tell you how helpful it has been!

EriKa...I was thinking of you last night and this morning at 6 my time...I am sooo proud of you and I cried reading your report...I want thatto be me next year and I felt like I lived through you today just a bit...thank you...

Jeff deserves a hug from all of us cause support is what he gave you today...that is a sign of a good man and a great husband...

I am sooo excited for you...enjoy your victory.. :cool1:

Okay...quick update on me....
Drove 2 hours Friday night to have soccer game canceled due to the rain...like EriKa said about weather yesterday...crappy and cold here as well..3 soccer games 2 hours away..Treyner won his game...Baylor lost 2 games but played well himself...Carsyn had a game w. Sara - Jodi's daughter and like she said...they won. Chad was with Carsyn - I with the boys.

Then the turd came out last night....long story short...Chad is bad about leaving rakes etc. outside...he grew up on a farm..no city ordinances..leave stuff out till project is done..etc...

Well I was leaving last night w/ Treyner...(have a Tupp party today and am riding w/ a friend to it since soccer is in 2 different directions today and we only have 2 cars...had a ladies night last night....anyway..
Chad followed us out to car..I mentioned the rake, 1/2 done lawn bag, metal filing cabinets that were in the garage that I do not want for my business anymore that I had in the garage to donate when the epilpesy drive comes in a week...(he decided he was going to recycle them instead and planned on taking them to center yesterday - did not and now they will sit there for a week at least )that are now on the side of the garage...

I honestly just said..can you get rid of the rake and lawn bag...he said..rest of leaves are wet - will pick up when they dry -

I said I did not want or need a ticket from the city...and he said..fine I'll do it...and slapped the side mirror on the passengers side of the car...it pushed the mirror in and broke the mirror...

Great...now I need a new mirror...he has already ordered it and the point I am making is...a 2 year old tantrum..without intent for damage...still causes damage...

He did not slap it hard...(not that he should have acted that way in the first place) I was surprised it broke actually...but now there is more money gone over him acting like an idiot..

Treyner said..."what do you do with him mom? If you don't point things like that out..he doesn't take care of them...if you do he throws a fit." :sad2:

Well said my 17 year old smart boy.:thumbsup2

Anyway...
pray for money God's to smile today...huge party at 2...need the money and need the recruits and datings to go well...:worship:

EriKa, I just read your post! I am so happy for you. (I literally am laughing and crying at the same time!!) I love love love that you were smiling while running! And you scoped out the crowd, ran faster than ever! YOU SO ROCK!

And Jeff came back to finish with you.:lovestruc

Congratulations!!!

Anyway...

Dawn, hope your party goes well. Sorry about the Giant Turd! Typical. At least the kids see the difference.

I don't know what to do on AIM either. I have my buddies loaded, so when I log on, I can see whos on. If it's more than one, Kat or Liz or EriKa will open a chat room, so more than 2 people can instant message. If only 1 person is on, you just instant message like you were doing with Kat. I think that's how it works.

Thanks! Now I am trying to get some work done and failing miserably.

I am WIPED out! This took a lot out of me...emotionally as well as physically, I think. Jeff said the same thing. He is drained. He sprinted the last half mile of his and it really killed him.

In other topics: Pete's eulogy was amazing, no?

Yes! And did you read what Erin had to say at the memorial? Good stuff.

ERIKA!!! I am soooo freakin proud of you. And so glad J was there to support you.

My day was spent w/ the in-laws. Whee. I am too tired to even recap. However, we did get to drive down there and back in the 'vertible with the top down... was in the 80s today.

Were you having those little conversations with yourself in your head? :confused3 "I don't want to "..."shut up and run"....."But I'm tired"...."I don't care. Shut up and run..."

I'm so proud of you! Beware though - these races get addictive! :cool2:

...Treyner said..."what do you do with him mom? If you don't point things like that out..he doesn't take care of them...if you do he throws a fit." :sad2:

You've got one heck of a kid there Dawn! It's amazing to watch these boys grow into men isn't it? And the best part, is he's going to be a good man. Ya done great! :thumbsup2

Hope your party was all that you hoped for....and then some! :goodvibes

Ok - I have to go wash up the dinner dishes (we eat late around here....) Then I have a few updates of my own ;)

Erika, very very proud of you. I knew you could do it! Your husband sounds like such a sweetheart. I bet he was just as proud of you. So when do you start training for the next race;) .

DD Sara's team won both games today and they took first place. They worked very hard for it, and it was really a fun tournament, I love seeing all the soccer parents again. I took a really good picture of the team to put in the local paper.

I got tons of yard work done today, my raspberrie patch is all cleaned up with new metal stakes and rope. Zac, Sara, and some of his friends help me clean up a huge tree we cut down last week, but with all the rain never got put over in the burn pile. With all our land yard work is like house work, everyday there is something to do, this week I have to pick rocks out of the two arces we just tiled up, I think I might call some of my kids friends to help.

My food choices were pretty good this weekend, not sure if I lost anything, but I did walk before every game this weekend, we had to be there 1/2 to 40 mins early every game, plus I walked when I got home.

Well, off to the showers and then to bed to read. Have a great night.

Haven't read posts since this morning...party went awesome...3 recruits...$1000 party and 4 datings! I frickin rocked...

Here are some pics I took recently of the kids...thought I would share...

april08009-1.jpg

Baylor in his new soccer uniform! 12 years old

april08008.jpg

Carsyn after getting her hair straightened....she has a weird cross rubberband in the front of her top braces...and is mad she picked orange...she says she looks like she has a orange tic tac between her two front teeth! :lmao:

april08007.jpg

Treyner...getting ready for Senior pics....

and I thought you would get a kick out of this one...his non-submersible car...taken with him for nostalgic purposes...before being donated this week! He asked if he should lay on the hood like a pin-up! Notice front left light is missing...it's in the front seat now..he picked it out of the "pond" after it started to float away...:rotfl2: Seriously...whatcha gonna do? He has never come home drunk, does not do drugs and if this is the worst idiotic thing he will do in high school...I am blesed.
