In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

Sorry for my lack of posts today... It has been crazy at work due to some co-worker's unforseen medical emergencies. They are each recovering at home now, but we are down to less than half our normal staff, so I am running in about five directions at any given moment...

On top of all of that, I was at an event with some folks from my regional office and it looks like the job in Saranac Lake is actually going to happen. We have a tentative start date for the second week in June. When I got this news I was thrilled, but over the weekend, the reality of the situation hit and I thought - oh crap, I'm moving in less than a month and I have done nothing to prepare... On top of that, I realized that I haven't moved away from my home town since college (many, many years ago...) and I am beginning to freak out. Hasn't helped my eating habits at all....

I am needing some good vibes this week.... In the meantime, I am off to start packing...

Talk to you later,
Goof

WOW! Well, let us know when the unpacking party is! Exciting and scary, huh? Good vibes coming your way!

Jodi--that is SO awesome! There is nothing like it when someone notices your loss! WOO HOO!!!

Kat--thanks for posting your food. It is amazingly similar to what I eat. My exercise looks like this:

--Run 5x/week anywhere from 40 - 70 minutes
--Strength train 3x/week - 1 hour each time (INTENSE now that I am doing it with the trainer and BL-style workouts)
--Tennis 2x/week - 90 minutes each

Tonight's tennis match was HORRIFIC for me. I could not move. I mean, they had to hit the ball right to me b/c after doing my long run this morning and the race yesterday, I could not go after the ball at all. It was awful. I don't know what to do. Tennis is my first passion and I won't stop playing and really don't want to screw up my game. But all of the running has made my quads and hams strong, but my hip flexors are just mush....and my hips were (and still are KILLING me)...I mean, I was truly hobbling on the court. I felt just awful for my opponents (on my own team tonight, we just played each other, thank goodness) b/c I could not give them any kind of game.

On a positive note, I was voted Captain again, so that made me feel better. And that was even after my terrible showing.

Go team captain!

See you really do rock!!!!:thumbsup2 Very nice Ericka very nice.

I just had to come on a tell you what my Dd Sara just said, it is nothing like placing in a race which I may say is so seriouly awsome!! But it made me do a high five with her, I was looking at pictures we took from soccer on the computer and she looked at me and said are you losing weight! Your face looks thin, I think I smiled from ear to ear. I know I have been because my size 22 pants are way to big and my 20's are bagging in the butt and I don't have to suck in to zip them up. So just knowing someone else can tell made my day. Just thought I would share.

We have a soccer game tonight so I need to make supper and then take off, I will check in with you all tonight, maybe I can get the AIM to work.

Hope everyone else is having a good day. Jodi

That is sooo sweet of your daughter! It gave me the warm-fuzzies. And good for you, Jodi! You are doing great.

Erika, you KICK BUTT. I knew you could do it.

I am back to the too stressed and irritated to eat diet. I have had two people today (who were out most of last week) pretty much go OMG you have dropped weight in the last week. I guess that is what day after day of this crap can do to you. You know when you START your day at 7AM with a problem call, that things are not going to be good for you. The bottom fell out again around 2PM, and then D called during with his news, and bleah. I need a drink.

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled program. Erika, this is my general food day:
B: fiber one + milk + large travel mug of coffee w/ sweetnlow, equivalent to about 80 cals

Lunchtime workout is either 45 min of arc trainer on interval level 4, usually averaging 450-500 cals burned, or 45 min of weight training and 30 min of elliptical on random level 7. This is done on Tues (weights/cardio), Wed (cardio), and Saturday (weights/cardio).

L: Either a south beach wrap kit, or a flaxseed pita (60 cals, 4g fiber) w/ lean lunchmeat and a laughing cow cheese and a big salad consisting of romaine, cucumber, red onion, reduced fat bacon (sometimes), w/ lite three cheese ranch (~100).

S (or part of L, depending): Fruit (apple or strawberries) and a lowfat cottage cheese or ff yogurt

D: On hockey days, usually a ~400 calorie frozen meal high in protein and fat, about an hour before hockey. On non-hockey days, all depends... some sort of lean meat, LOTS of veggies (usually broccoli or an artichoke).

Hockey: Mondays 1.25 hours, Thursdays is 2 hours.

S: 1 bag orville 94% ff popcorn is the most common... sometimes veggies and ff spinach dip w/ 1 serving ff pringles

I almost always wind up somewhere between 1000 and 1200 calories, maybe 1 or 2 days a week under 1000. I do not go over 1200 except about every other week on a weekend. I drink at least 64 oz of plain water, as well as my morning coffee and one caffeinated soda at lunch. I also drink decaf sodas and flavored waters at night.

Kat, I do not like this stress diet of yours! But, man, do you eat well. My food for the day might horrify you!

Oh, and DAWN---

In one of your posts last week you said that you and Dan were starting a new program today. Yes, I caught that! You didn't think I was going to let that slide, did ya? :lmao:

So, it is accountability time. What are you doing? What is your plan? Have you had any water today?????

And LIZ--you have been far too quiet for days (with like one measly post a day...)! What gives? Everything ok?

Me, Liz? Or my quiet friend Lyz?

I can fully understand - because I've been there! I will relate my personal experiences and my reasoning behind why I think you should consider trying eating more later this afternoon (I PROMISE!) :goodvibes

This is just a quicky "catch up" for me here....

Have 3 kinda exciting things to share (yes, my family is doing it's part to spur on the economy...:scared: )

First - we found an absolutely perfect used car for our 3rd vehicle. Having 3 drivers with 2 cars has been managable to this point (we have a unique situation where DH works from home, and I work PT 1.5 miles away..almost always a car in the garage...)...but one of those "cars" is actually an extended cab pick up truck that gets 13-14 miles per gallon - the other is my minivan at 19 mpg....SO...we're getting a 2001 Honda Accord...5 speed...82,000 miles, impecible maintenance records....and great price (we know the previous owner). So exciting!

Second (and MORE exciting to me...) I BOUGHT A NEW BIKE! :yay: :yay: :yay: And in case you were wondering, NO, not a motorcycle...a bicycle! :woohoo: :woohoo: I've been riding a mountain bike, which is great and all...but I just bought a road bike and now I'll be cruisin' like Lance! My very good friend & workout partner just bought one as well...and now we are going to start looking for an event to ride..

And third (quite exciting, but oddly not as exciting as the bike is to me...:rolleyes1 ) DH just booked us a trip to Cancun for the 1st week of December to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. (ummm..no kids...grandma already put that week on her calendar :yay: )

DAWN - AWESOME JOB YESTERDAY! You ARE the Tupperware Queen (you need the sash and tiera now!)

Hope everyone is having a good day! :sunny:

I love the good news, Nancy! What kind of bike are you buying? A super road one with the curved handles? Or a hybrid? Friends of ours are doing the MS 50 mile next weekend - I bet there is one near you, too!

OMG! I am in SHOCK!

They just posted the race results for my race yesterday....I PLACED!!!

I didn't place overall, of course. But for my age group (30 - 39), they post the TOP 10...and I came in 8th! Overall, I came in 44 out of 94...that is the TOP HALF of the pack, baby!

Erika, that is just wonderful. I am so happy for you! You are a real runner!

So - here it is...the long awaited rationalization of why I think Erika should consider trying to eat more to lose more.

First, I am not a nutritionist, or fitness expert….just a person who has worked pretty hard to figure out what it takes for my body to work the most efficiently. So, anything that I post here is not intended to be medical or nutritional advice, just my personal experiences!

A few facts:

1.While we all have the same basic nutrients requirements generally speaking, each one of us is enough different that what works for one will not work for all.

2.Women generally (there are exceptions of course) don’t “bulk up” when gaining muscle. They do become “toned”.

3.Muscle burns more calories at rest than fat.

4.Muscle also “weighs smaller” than fat. I know that may sound odd, but what I mean by that is a pound of lean muscle is more compact than a pound of fat. Therefore, a more muscular body, which burns more calories at rest, will weigh more than a same sized body with a higher body fat percentage.

5.Muscle needs protein to rebuild, restore and even maintain. If your body is not fed the protein (complete protein that is….) it will take it from itself, causing you to lose muscle mass

6.To lose a pound of body weight, you must create a calorie “deficit” of 3500 calories. At a rate of a pound a week loss, that would be a deficit of 500 calories per day, through diet, exercise or a combination thereof.

7.your body requires a certain amount of calories each and every day just to function, even if you never got up out of bed. An easy, accepted rule of thumb is to figure approx. 10 calories per pound of body weight. The problem with that is it does not take into account age, gender or activity level. A more accurate way to determine your basal metabolic rate is to go to: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ From there you can determine (again generally, because we are not all the same….) your daily caloric needs based on your activity level.

8.When you exercise, you burn calories (obviously!) Without going as far as VO2 testing, the most accurate way to determine your calorie burn per session is with a heart rate monitor that takes the following data: your age, gender, height, weight, heart rate measured constantly for the duration of the exercise, and of course, duration of exercise. You cannot “trust” the “calories burned” data on the cardio equipment at the gym, unless they are specifically asking for all that info and constantly monitoring your heart rate (I will say, however, they are a great tool to use as a comparison from day to day as you work out)

OK. So, I’m going to use my stats as an example.

I am 41 years old, 5’7” tall, and 146 pounds (as of last Friday). According to the calculations, my BMR is 1412 calories per day. That’s BEFORE activity. My typical workouts range from 450 calories-700 calories burned depending on whether I am focusing on weight training or cardio, and I work out 5-6 days per week on average (always, I give myself a day off.) That puts me at a minimum in the “moderately active” and more likely into the “very active” range. (the choices are sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, very active, extremely active). But, for the sake of this we’ll go with moderate. Now I multiply my 1412 calories by 1.55 to get my daily calorie burn, and I come up with 2189. To lose a pound a week, I deduct 500 calories per day and I am left with a total of 1689 per day.

Seem like a lot? It is. I used to eat 1200-1400 calories. I would lose weight to a certain point, and then it wouldn’t budge. My trainer (who also has a background in sports nutrition) BEGGED me to eat more. I finally relented, and consented to eat 1600-1700 calories a day for 2 weeks. Within a day, I felt better. In 12 weeks I lost 11.5 pounds, 9 of which were fat (did body fat analysis as well).

I do best when I eat constantly – 6 times a day, 3 meals, 3 snacks! The trick for me is to never get too hungry – that’s when I make bad choices and either eat the wrong foods, or too much of the good ones. AND (this was HUGE for me…) the biggest change I had to make was to make sure I had eaten fully ½ of my daily calorie allotment by the time I had finished lunch. Not eating enough early in the day made me crash hard in the afternoon. Once I balanced my day into thirds (for me it’s snack/meal, meal/snack, meal/snack) and divided my calories by thirds (roughly 550 calories per meal/snack “set”) I noticed a big difference. I build my day around my fat & protein selections (I eat protein at a minimum of 4, and usually 5 of my “feedings”!). Protein helps me maintain the muscle that I work so hard to achieve (thereby burning more calories at rest) and I need the fat to feel more satisfied for a longer period.

Here is a sample day randomly pulled from my journal:

7:00 am. 1 cup Kashi go-lean cereal (10g soy protein), ½ cup 1% milk, 2 TBSP dried blueberries (247 calories)
exercise….like Erika…fiendishly!
10:30 am Smoothie: 1 container fat free, artificially sweetened yogurt, scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1 small banana, 1 TBSP shredded coconut (for the fat) 1 TBSP sugar free Nesquik choc. Milk mix, ice..(305 calories)
1:00 Lunch – 1 cup minestrone soup, 3 oz. chicken breast, salad with 2 tsp reduced fat vinaigrette, 2 light rye bread, toasted, with 1TBSP Brummel & Brown spread (475 calories)
4:00 snack – ½ cup low fat cottage cheese, 17 Multigrain Wheat thins (220 calories)
6:30 dinner – 3 oz. grilled swordfish, 2/3 cup brown rice, carrot sticks, steamed asparagus (315 calories)
9:00 snack – jello parfait – sugar free jello w/ Clementine & 2 TBSP cool whip light, 2 TBSP home-made granola (115 calories)

Total for the day….1677 calories – right on my target. Eliminating alcohol is also a biggie for me....empty calories I just don't need (problem is, I love it so much!)

Like I said before. We are all different. What works for one, will not work for all. And if you’ve found something that works for you, that’s awesome. It can be so difficult, and frustrating. But time and lots of trial and error, (and great advice from a great trainer) helped me a lot.

Just food for thought for anyone who has plateaued and can't seem to break thru! The answer isn't always "eat less". If you don't want to eat MORE, then perhaps you need to consider exercising less. Your body is way smarter than you may want it to be...now it's your job to unravel the puzzle behind it...

Hi guys! Thank heavens you've been busy. I was scared to come and see just a couple posts.:scared1:

I can fully understand - because I've been there! I will relate my personal experiences and my reasoning behind why I think you should consider trying eating more later this afternoon (I PROMISE!) :goodvibes

Very, VERY exciting. That is sweet and definately something to work toward regarding weight and clothing, (or lack there of:rolleyes1 )
DAWN - AWESOME JOB YESTERDAY! You ARE the Tupperware Queen (you need the sash and tiera now!) :

Go DAWN! (Although I'm not surprised. You are such a people person.) And by the way, you have absolutley GAWGOUS children.

And, D's company filed for bankruptcy today. That was the big announcement.

Oh Kat! That's no good. Once you get a chance to breath, tell us how you are D are doing, mentally? Is this a job he LOVES? Does this mean a different job?

OMG! I am in SHOCK!

They just posted the race results for my race yesterday....I PLACED!!!

EriKa - and you were worried! Just think, one of these days, you'll be greased up in granny panties for your run! and scaring the bejesus out of some new, inexperienced running momma who is trying to get hold of her life.

Jodi! Thats great!

On a positive note, I was voted Captain again, so that made me feel better. And that was even after my terrible showing.

Can I call you Cappie?

Talk to you later,
Goof

Goof! Sounds like crunch time. You'll be fine. You have the most level head here. I see good things in the next month, hectic as they may be.

Today I was busy. I hosted my first Junior Achievement "Business Class" for a local 4th grade class. (I have 4 more.) Let me tell you I was NERVOUS! I have never, I mean never done anything like this. And it wasn't really any big deal, and actually very fun. But, I am a control freak and didn't know what to expect. The kids were responsive and other than I probably went a little too fast, (10 minutes left over) I think it went well.

Tomorrow, we talk about acquiring a job and hiring employees. I get to do a interview with the teacher and show the kids, "what NOT to do." I can't wait. You know me. I'm gonna pop some gum into my mouth and offer her some. Throw my wrapper into the trash like I'm shooting a basketball. Take a phone call, "no you pick dinner." "no, you pick dinner." "no, you pick dinner." FUN!

OHHH, but the reason I wasn't on here this morning, was because I had to actually start working before 3:15! I ususally screw around all day. If I'd apply myself, I could probably have a part time job at our office!!!:goodvibes But since I had to be at school, had to work. So, sorry for my lack of presence today.

Disney4xmas - glad you're mixing it up here.

Princess - hope your day went ok. Sounded like it was starting out rough when I read your post this morning.

Ok, talk to you all later.

One more thing, I don't know if it's spring fever, but we have a couple no shows. Bird, Bryan, chbc, .... and more, are you guys still with us?
Lyz

the job in Saranac Lake is actually going to happen. We have a tentative start date for the second week in June.
Talk to you later,
Goof

Goof Where do you live now?? Because you are moving so close to me that we could actually meet and do lunch sometime! What is the job in Saranac lake? I live just north of plattsburgh which is the BIG CITY :lmao: :rotfl2: around here, about 45 minutes north of Saranac lake. you are going to be about an hour from me

Oh went to WW tonight to weigh in. :yay: I have LOST 15.8 pounds!!!!!!! I am down to 241.4 100 pounds to go!!:scared1:
My poor Mom lost only 2 pounds and she felt really upset because now I have passed her in our total weight loss. She feels like she is at a loss and hasn't a clue what to do. She is mad because I cheat all the time (so to speak I always make sure that it is added in to my points) But I told her my job there is so much moving, I do close to 8000 steps in a shift. She make BEN & JERRY'S Ice cream and doesn't move all that much.

--Run 5x/week anywhere from 40 - 70 minutes
--Strength train 3x/week - 1 hour each time (INTENSE now that I am doing it with the trainer and BL-style workouts)

On a positive note, I was voted Captain again, so that made me feel better. And that was even after my terrible showing.

That's either because they think your as awesome as we do, or they are afraid you'll kick their @sses if they didn't!

I love the good news, Nancy! What kind of bike are you buying? A super road one with the curved handles? Or a hybrid? Friends of ours are doing the MS 50 mile next weekend - I bet there is one near you, too!

It's a road bike - yes to the fancy, curved handles. And the skinny tires! :scared1: I'm used to a mountain bike - you really have to work hard to ride the roads around here on a mountain bike... My friend already has her eye on a 50 miler, but I can't do it that day (we are out of town...) I may do a shorter 25 miler on the first of June though. Tomorrow, I expect to get out for a good long ride...I'll let you know how it goes! :goodvibes

Have a great evening everyone...(I should be sewing...but I think I'll get some sleep instead...)

OMG, I have been working on this posts for ages...between chatting with Liz and dealing with students, I don't have time to DIS! :scared1:

This is SO exciting, Paula. And while it is making your nervous as well, it is for the right reasons. You will do GREAT there and flourish. And just think...even though you are moving away from your friends, we are your portable friends! We'll be with you and you won't even have to miss a day of hanging out with us! :goodvibes

Don't eat your way through this! You have come way way way too far! Those pounds are gone FOREVER.

So - here it is...the long awaited rationalization of why I think Erika should consider trying to eat more to lose more.

Thanks so much, Nancy, for taking the time to type all of that out! I knew most of it, but it helps to hear it again...know what I mean? And have it put out there.

I am just so tired of playing with my calories! I will do some quick calculations and let everyone know what I come up with.

EriKa - and you were worried! Just think, one of these days, you'll be greased up in granny panties for your run! and scaring the bejesus out of some new, inexperienced running momma who is trying to get hold of her life.

lol--what a great goal! But I refuse to wear the grannies! :lmao:

Can I call you Cappie?

No. :lmao:

Night! Get rest. And for the record, I do take one day/week off. Usually Sunday, sometimes Saturday. And yeah, the one I want is a road bike, too!

We should definitely get together next time I am in CT. If I get my bike, we can do a ride! :goodvibes

Stephanie -
I actually looked up where Chazy, NY is and it is not that far from where I'll be moving to. I am in the Albany area now. We will definitely need to get together once I get settled up there. I work for a construction management company and the project and we are building a new building up there. I don't know much about the details yet, but I'll PM you when I get settled so we can pick a day to get together. It will be nice to have a familiar 'face' to greet me when I get there...

OK - I am off to keep going through my clothes... Anyone know anyone who needs size 28 pants and size 26/26 tops... I am looking to get rid of a bunch of things since I can't wear them anymore... (which is a very good thing!!!!)

Weird... my hip flexors are pumped! All that hockey will do that to a gal. That is non-coincidentally where I have lost the most inches.

AWESOME!! :woohoo:

Okay, today was almost equally as bad as last Monday. I did make it to hockey, though, but had to basically peel myself away from work to do it, and was literally on the call until 7:30 when I pulled into the rink parking lot (game starts at 7:45). Still had to make a few work-related calls on the way home, too. And, I have to be in Wilson at 8:30AM tomorrow. Whee, that means getting up at 7, my fav.

I did eat today, but mostly shoving stuff in my face from my grazing bucket and wasn't even able to break away long enough to heat up and eat my frozen dinner for dinner. Honestly, I am not even hungry when life gets like this. I think I ended up at 800 cals for the day. Whee.

As to D's announcement, for now life is okay. He still has a job, and is actively looking for someone else in anticipation of the bottom falling out. He doesn't hate his job but he doesn't love it either. Maybe this will mean a better opportunity, okay, well, hopefully anyhow.

Paula, good luck with your move.

And Erika! I got your box of clothes. Thank you SOOO much!!! I *love* the navy shorts and the t-shirts, they fit perfectly. The old navy 12s fit okay but are a bit long (hit me at the knee), but I think that is a style I have to get used to? I tend to wear my shorts on the short side, maybe? The 10s are zippable but not wearable (hee).

Okay, I am off to bed. I will likely not be on much until later tomorrow since my meeting goes from 8:30-4:30 w/ an hour drive on each side.

Jodi
Jodi..I am soo glad that Sara noticed..that you feel at home here now and that you are taking care of yourself...I am proud of you.
Jodi--that is SO awesome! There is nothing like it when someone notices your loss! WOO HOO!!!Agreed...

On a positive note, I was voted Captain again, so that made me feel better. And that was even after my terrible showing.
As in Jack or Kangaroo?:lmao:

Talk to you later,
Goof
Holy cow girl...I am so excited and yet I understand the butterflies..they have faith in you..we have faith in you...now you have to have faith that God took you to this spot and these friends and this job location....maybe Mr. Right has been waiting for you in a different zip code...;)

Go DAWN! (Although I'm not surprised. You are such a people person.) And by the way, you have absolutley GAWGOUS children.

Thank you for the Tupp compliment...I had a huge party tonight as well..close to $1000 in sales...4 datings and 1 maybe 2 recruits...I am on a roll...plus I do not eat at night at the parties...ever...so I should start losing weight..esp. if I get snacks in the car ready for when I am starving..and WATER...

Thanks for the compliment on the kids...I'll pass it on to "EGO...party of three...EGO party of three..."
:rotfl2:

Kat, I do not like this stress diet of yours! But, man, do you eat well. My food for the day might horrify you!

Agreed. But a point is a point (calorie is a calorie) right? I'd rather have the...

Me, Liz? Or my quiet friend Lyz?

:lmao: (pretty sure she meant you. And I agree. Liz-posting, not so much. Little here, little there. I know Nick was working on your house, (or working on making dust) but I don't remember exactly WHAT he was working on?)

Nancy, thanks for this post. As professional dieters, we tend to know the in's and out's. I tear out articles all the time and tuck them safely away. (where they happen to stay.) But this post summmed up alot and I NEEDED to read it. (And that took alot of time!)

Great job on the loss thus far! Too bad your mom is feeling bad. She is older and going to have a harder time anyway, I'd guess. Course that won't make her feel better!

Have a great evening everyone...(I should be sewing...but I think I'll get some sleep instead...)

I need more sleep too. I have got to start making myself go to bed. When I do that, I'm always ready to hop up and onto the treadmill in the morning, but easier said than done.

Stephanie -
I actually looked up where Chazy, NY is and it is not that far from where I'll be moving to.

Goof

Proud of you.

I am proud that you are sticking with it...I have the same amount to lose...then..I will work on the details...I would like to be about 130 or so..that will be re-evaluated at 150#.

This is the time! Dawn.

OK, couple things...
1. I dreamed about losing weight last night. Anyone ever do that? Not that I HAD lost weight, just that it was May and I was starting school in 3 months!:rotfl: I think the pressure is getting to me on every surface.

Anyone read Self Magazine this month. They talked about Disordered Eating. Binging. Emotional Eating. Eating only enough to maintain. 24/7 focus on food/or lack thereof. My goodness. This is SO, SO, SO me.

2. Anyone use Wen shampoo? I "guess" it's not really shampoo, but hair cleaner, that replaces shampoo. I just saw part of the infomercial this morning, and it looked interesting.

3. Molli's hair straightening. Here are my thoughts. Her hair is definatley more managable. When the flat iron tells it to, it listens, instead of fighting back. And I'd say there is less frizz. BUT...it does not lay flat everywhere right out of the shower. And that was my biggest concern. She can't dry her hair at camp this weekend, so I am still a little worried. I guess we'll just pack head bands.

Gotta get busy. Later all.

I just got home from my first outing on my new bike! I LOVE IT!  DH rode with me (he rode the mountain bike...) we went 17 miles, took us just over an hour. :woohoo: (I think my hiney is going to be a bit sore though - not quite used to that seat yet! :headache: )

Nancy, thanks for this post. As professional dieters, we tend to know the in's and out's. I tear out articles all the time and tuck them safely away. (where they happen to stay.) But this post summmed up alot and I NEEDED to read it. (And that took alot of time!)

I think sometimes if what we are doing is not working the way we want it to, we really need to step back and re-evaluate. I know for myself, that at one point in time I had become so "fat-phobic" that everything I ate was fat-free. I was eating less and less and actually GAINED weight :scared1: When I added just a few quality fats (like almonds for example, or a tsp of natural peanut butter) I felt better, and was able to start losing again. My body had just simply revolted and wasn't going to cooperate until I gave it what it needed! :goodvibes

Now...if I could just listen to my own advice a little more often, I could possibly get rid of these final pounds that aren't ready to budge...:rolleyes1

Sorry about the mutliple posts here, but I messed up on my "multi quote" :rolleyes1 (Techno-genius I am not! )

I just had to come on a tell you what my Dd Sara just said, it is nothing like placing in a race which I may say is so seriouly awsome!! But it made me do a high five with her, I was looking at pictures we took from soccer on the computer and she looked at me and said are you losing weight! So just knowing someone else can tell made my day. Just thought I would share.

That's awesome, Jodi! Sure feels good to have someone notice, doesn't it? :woohoo:

As in Jack or Kangaroo?:lmao:

:goodvibes I was thinking Morgan....shows where my mind goes... :rolleyes1

Okay, I am off to bed. I will likely not be on much until later tomorrow since my meeting goes from 8:30-4:30 w/ an hour drive on each side.

Sorry you're having such a stressful work-life. :sad2: I'm sure you need those hockey games - positive stress release time!!

Quick drive by from the conf room...

Nancy, I will definitely agree with you on the fats issue. I have to have some fat in my diet, or I really notice an energy difference.

Is it Friday yet? Or better yet, Friday the 16th?

Quick post for me as well...

Nancy, help! BOTH of my IT bands are killing me! And I mean...pain! Hip all the way down to outer knee, so I know it is IT band. What do I do? Today is a rest day for running, thank goodness. But I am scheduled for a hard core workout session with the trainer. He has us run laps around the parking lot, but that is the only running...lots of weights and other core moves as well. Do I go? Blow it off? I just took 2 ibuprofen so that I can at least walk without hobbling. (Though once I get moving, I am ok. It is just going from a resting/non-moving position to moving...the first few steps are BRUTAL.)

So - here it is...the long awaited rationalization of why I think Erika should consider trying to eat more to lose more.

She is mad because I cheat all the time (so to speak I always make sure that it is added in to my points) But I told her my job there is so much moving, I do close to 8000 steps in a shift. She make BEN & JERRY'S Ice cream and doesn't move all that much.

Her weight loss will come to, sad to say age does have some factor in it.:sad2:

Stephanie -
I actually looked up where Chazy, NY is and it is not that far from where I'll be moving to.

Goof

Awesome, I can't wait for the day I can pitch all my big clothes for good.:woohoo:

Dawn great job on the Tupperware sales! You are the champ!
Anytime you are back in town get ahold of me, I would love to walk with you, it's been so long since I've seen you.

Update, Sara's team lost there game last night big time, the upside is I was able to walk 2 miles before the game and lucky for me they started late because I thought I was going to miss 15 mins of the game, because I kept on walking.

My food choices and journaling are going well. I have been posting on Sparks and I really like it. You all really inspire me to keep going. Reading about all your successes and the hard work you put into losing. You all should be queens for the day.princess:

No soccer tonight, but it looks like it is going to storm, so I am going to have to walk real soon.

Ok, I have to apologize - but I'm laughing right now. WITH you of course, not at you! ;) Argh do I hate it when I "waddle" because I've over-done it in the exercise arena! :goodvibes When the thought of having to go upstairs is enough to bring tears to my eyes? :guilty:

I would, personally, continue with the ibuprofen (3x a day...if needed) and slow, easy movement. If you can go to the class and just work your upper body, I'd probably do it. BUT...please, please make sure you tell the trainer that you are suffering the effects of "over use" and are going to either skip the lower body stuff or modify....I'd walk the warm-up, or really lightly jog. If it's uncomfortable to the point of being painful, don't do it. You are already in a bit of a vulnerable state and don't want to risk injury. :sad2: (hard to be a goddess when you are stuck on the couch! :wizard: )

Oh - and I'd probably choose low/no impact cardio for the next few days until those poor legs can function again! :goodvibes (and a good glass of wine with dinner always helps me :rolleyes1 )

This was very informational for me, I am glad you took the time to write it.
You have been doing your homework.

Like I said - lots of trial and error, and finding what works for you - but if my experiences can be of use to anyone else, I'm happy to share. :thumbsup2 I also personally believe in that cliche of "not a diet, but a lifestyle change". A "diet" to me is something that you do for a little while...but a lifestyle change is (hopefully) forever. If I can't stick to a plan for the long-term, than it's just not the right plan for me!

If the game had started on time, I'm sure Sara would have understood why you were late...she probably would have been proud of you for doing your walking! :cool2:

I've spent WAAAAY too much time on the phone today dealing with health insurance. Honestly. I have nothing nice to say right now about them... :furious:

OMG! That is it exactly. It is this awful waddling/hobbling movement. So attractive! :lmao:

Ok, so not reading your post earlier, I went to the gym and did the workout! :rotfl2: The ibuprofen I took totally did the trick and I had an awesome workout!

This is the same class that I did last Thursday (5 men and me). Well, last week, I was dogging it since I had already run a 5-miler. Today I was rested. And let me tell you, I kicked their butts! I swear! I had such an incredible work out. And when it was time to run laps, the trainer had me lead the group...and he was like "take them the long way...make them hurt!" :rotfl2: I was laughing my a$$ off as they were struggling.

In all seriousness, I did have a great workout and still feel really good right now, so that is good news. By now, the ibuprofen has worn off and I still have no pain. And this workout is so good because it really works so many muscle groups...and ones that I would likely never touch...he has doing the most crazy things. (We play squash outside against the back wall with 20-pound medicine balls!)

After my workout I went and got Kel at school and she and I along with another mom and daughter from school went to the park for like 2 hours! It is so gorgeous! It about killed me to come inside.

Hey...what is everyone doing for Mother's Day? I requested to go out to iHop for chocolate chip pancakes! :rotfl2: I know, I know...iHop...so classy....:rotfl:

KAT
--Glad everything arrived ok. I meant to warn you that those have been sitting in a pile in my closet for a while and my girls played dress up in them...wash them! The navy shorts have been worn only once (they were too big from the get go, but I was desperate. We were heading to Disney and I had to get some shorts, and they didn't have anything in my size, so that is why I grabbed those and the other 12s. But the other ones I wore a lot...you'll see a hole in the waistband where I had pinned them. :rotfl2: ) Yeah, it took a while to get used to the knee-length, but then I really liked them. Yes, it is a style...still in style this year. And now the 10s can be your next goal! :goodvibes

Nancy--you are totally goddess of the week! A 17-mile ride on the new bike and a wealth of information!

Lyz--stop being all responsible-like and come out and play!

Jodi--WOO-HOO for walking during soccer and seemingly ALL THE FREAKING TIME these days! You are going to post big numbers again this week! I can feel it!

Liz--stop lurking!

Dawn--Good to hear from you today and thanks for the props! :goodvibes

Paula
--how is the packing going? While I am so excited for you and this new adventure, I sure don't envy you with the moving!

Kim
--come out, come out, wherever you are! Put the diapers and sippy cups down, honey, you need some big girl time! :rotfl2:
