OMG. Flannel undies? WTH?

Thank you, Kat. Flannel undies. Dress fleece. I am spinning in my fashion grave over here

Thanks for the congrats.

I love the no-nonsense approach. LOVE it.

Maybe I am weird, but I wear pants, jeans, tops, sweaters? And undies that are microfiber? No fleece, no flannel.

Oh, and I have known you longer than 6 mos, and have NO desire to buy a VB.

I am so tired tonight, may just veg on the couch with a book. Long week.

Yes, I will take Edward any way. Clean shaven beautiful skin vampy edward or alternate universe human edward with scruff. Yummy either way.

Sarah--I started running about a year ago (well walking more than running at that point), with the couch to 5K program.

http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

I totally recommend it. I am actually doing it for the 3rd time through right now, in attempt to improve my 5K time. I literally have gone from pretty much zero activity to 2 half marathons and a handful of other races in a year. and I will run my 3rd 1/2 on march 1st! I am totally addicted to the races now, and it keeps me on track exercise wise.

Thats great... I really would like to get into running... I am going to go to the running store tomorrow and get shoes... I am excited!

I'm here, sort of. Popping in to say hi, then dashing to the grocery 'cus momma needs some pesto, lol. Will be back soon to catch up!

My new running shoes came today! Is it weird that I am so excited for them? OMG, I love my Sauconys.

I am going to head out tomorrow for my long run. In new shoes. I am not too worried, as these are the same make/model as my current ones. But boy did I need a new pair! It is always so deceiving. My old ones LOOK fine and they even FEEL fine. That is until I put on one old shoe and one new. And the difference! Then again, I have put like 500+ miles on the old ones.

My tri stuff came in the mail today and J was like, "You're doing a tri?!?! Don't you think you should have told me?" Listen much? Sheesh.

Oh! Big news on that! My MOM is going to do the tri with me! Isn't that awesome? She will have to walk the 5k, but her pace is very good. Easily a 14 mpm walking pace. Maybe even better. (She walks at like 4.3-ish.) And here is the scary part...she is going to kick my a$$ on the swim! She swam half a mile today in 23 minutes. She is 69 and made of awesome. (Liz, I love that phrase and use it all the time. And don't give you credit. ;) )

I am totally going to get one of those shirts:

Race Registration - $65.00
Gym Membership - $400.00
New running shoes - $120.00
Doing a triathlon with my mom - PRICELESS

Ok, to set the record straight...I have never Bedazzled anything in my life. Ever. I am not crafty. I don't scrapbook either. Or bake (aside from the ocassional birthday cake for my kids, which really Karen does and I stand there and watch so that I can say I did it...my friend Karen is a professional baker). I used to quilt, but then had kids, etc. Now I am hard-pressed to sew a button on.

Ok, off to see if I can find a link to my dress fleece!

I did! I am 5 for 5 this week!!!! I may even work out tomorrow!!!! Tomorrow is diet cheat day with my dh so he picked st**ks (again bleeped for E). I am going to make asparagus and baked potatoes... I will try to track everything... I think I may get up tomorrow morning and do 30 Day Shred...

Anyone getting on AIM tonight?

I got mine the other day. I ended up ordering 2 pairs. One New Balance (which I always, always wear. always) and a pair of Asics, just for ha ha's. Well guess what. The NB had some wonky thing goin' on in the toe, which is unacceptable - and the Asics? perfect. :upsidedow

Awesome on the workouts! :thumbsup2

We had asparagus tonight. YUM. Roasted it with garlic and a touch of cayenne. :lovestruc

No AIM for me. :sad2: I'm actually headed to bed soon. I know. Friday night and I'm O.U.T. I really pushed myself very hard this week physically, and didn't get enough sleep. As soon as my angel food cake comes out of the oven, it's off to night night land for me. :upsidedow

I want to lose 6 lbs...

Sarah - these are all great suggestions. If I am going somewhere where I don't know what the food options will be I always come prepared. The was especially true when I was just starting and didn't have the ability to stop at a taste of something. I usually bring some baby carrots with me or even a full on lunch if I know I need to cover a meal. Another somewhat better snack option is Pirates Booty. A one oz. serving is about 120 calories with minimal fat grams. In JC land, this equates to one starch and one fat serving so it is an ideal afternoon snack for me. Add in a piece of fruit or some carrot sticks and some water and I am good to go for another 2 - 3 hours. I should note that I am a big fan of buying single serve bags instead of the big bags. They may cost a little more, but the portion control that they offer is a huge help. Also, instead of running through the drive through, most major grocery stores have salad bars so you can buy your meal there and load up on veggies and some lean protein (chicken, etc). I have been known to stop in to the store to buy an apple for a snack rather than hitting Starbucks. This will even save you money since the grocery store is way cheaper than fast food.

Oh gosh yes, pre-packed stuff is a saviour! I am constantly throwing in carrot/celery packs in my bag.

I can just see you folding your arms and refusing. So funny.

I love the way you call them sproglets.
I can tell you one thing, if you did get a chest, the first time you went for a run you would HATE it!! I have a chest (C/D) but it is just the extra weight I am carrying. Once I get down to my goal weight, I will go back to barely filling a B again most likely.
But seriously, I totally agree with you on the if I can't do it on my own and earn it, I don't want it.

I am on day 5 now of trying this low carb/low cal thing in the effort to help Mr Kat. So far I am not really hating it too badly. It is making me change my habits some, but that is probably a good thing. I think that once the month is up, I will add in some high fiber whole grains as well. I am doing some of that now but trying to keep carbs around 20. Sparkpeople actually has a carb count for low carb diets column, which is a bonus.

One nice thing about trying a new approach is that it feels fresh. Like, there are different combinations of things I can eat, and honestly, it actually gets me really excited at the possiblities of trying them all. Like, the spaghetti squash of last night or the tofu noodles... what other yummy things can I make?

Oh, and FWIW... sweet = carb. Just sayin'. :)

The noodles have been a joy. I am making up for 6 months of good carb eating this week, lol. I only did the super low carb diet for 2 weeks, then progressed to whole grains. It was tough at first, but became a piece of cake.

Regularly. I don't use lifts because I repel all things electrical. Its not worth the hassle getting stuck in a lift! I use escalators because if they stop you can just walk up them like a stair case!

I should really tell you about the time I electrocuted myself with the lawn mower :upsidedow :rotfl:

Oh Kelly, you can't be doing that!

Ok, another confession. I couldnt' stay away from the scale this week. I weighed Sunday, and then again today... and was down 4.6 lbs!

I think I am going to weigh weekly again, on Fridays. I need the progress indicator after all.

Fantastic job!

OK, Core is done. so 2/2 this week.

Also, I signed up for a 10K next weekend!! I need to do a long run anyhow, and this run benefits the ronald mcdonald house at the childrens hospital here.

Delena and I are off to get some valentines!

And here is vintage delena from last year...

How adorable!

It's ok. Really it is. We both mock me. It's all in jest. :goodvibes

I need to ask permission to drink. Really. I think I may need a glass of wine tonight. PLEASE? :confused3 Just one.

Report card issue. I am over-the-edge angry with one certain 10th grader in my home. :furious:

OMG! I think you need a hall pass! Flannel thongs??? Wow.

Well I have lost quite a few quotes again. :(

Hi Everybody ~ especially the ones I didn't quote! Not ignoring, promise! I need a blackberry so I can sneak on once in a while during the day.

I love the picture! I might stick my face over Bellas :rotfl2:

Me too. I don't understand! :rotfl:

36A checking in for duty. Im sure it would be easier to go bra-less than find an A cup nowadays! :lmao:

Electrocution by Lawn Mower:

Picture the scene - boiling hot day (I remember it well, it was one of 4 hot days we had last year :rotfl2: ) I decide in all my wisdom to cut the grass. My garden is only small, there is the lawn which is surrounded by plant beds - in one of the beds I have got stick lights, so I was being really careful not to cut through the wire of the lights - instead I cut straight through the mower wire :crazy2:
It blasted the lawn mower out of my hands, and left me with a lovely red mark up my arm and a little scorch mark on my hand. Worst part, when the wire cut it whipped up and hit me on the bummocks and left a mark :lmao:

DH rang NHS direct to see if there was a particular cream they recommended to put on electrical burns - they sent an ambulance! :upsidedow I had to be hooked up to the heart monitor to make sure everything was working properly.

Now, I don't mow the lawn anymore :lmao:

Sounds like you had an alterior motive???

Hey everyone!
I got Five Minutes to get on the computer!
Between Work and Kids! AHHHGGGG!
So Zac was better after a few days and was back to himself. Then This week Tyler was complaining about a sore throat! So I played a wait and see game! No fever No thing so I didn't do anything . Well Yesterday he spike a fever and was sent home. I called to see if they would just write a script for him without seeing him but NO such luck. His fever spike to 104.5 and Stephen called me at work in hysterics. I called and said OK I will bring him so you can run a rapid strep. Well good thing that we did bring him in because he didn't have strep he has pneumonia. They put him on heavy duty antibiotics and his fever has yet to reappear.

THis week has been so busy dr. appointments for all of us. I got to go to the Girlie/ Lady dr. Sam check up on her knee and then Ty. Plus my boss thought it would be great to work me 5 days a week and working only 5 hour shifts. This is great I am at home at night but I am falling asleep as soon as everyone is in bed and on the nights I am working till 11 it is killing me!
So sorry I haven't been around but been really busy. I am trying to catch up with all those pages I have missed!
Amy little D looks so cute in that bag!
Kat how was your trip?
Paula Date? When?
Nancy sorry about the report card! Sam actually is excelling this year! The teachers are all impressed and SO am I! I think she finally learned to balance her social life and her academic life!
Aimee That for asking how Zac was doing ... oh sooooo long ago!
Dawn what page is the pictures of the puppy on??

Any advice too would be great on this subject. I was letting the puppy chase me this morning around the house and I heard a POP in my calf and now I have a charlie horse beyond belief and can't flex my foot! I have iced and taken tylenol but still am having a hard time putting any of pressure on it! If not better by tomorrow I think I will be going to the DR.
Ok off to do my hair and get ready for a party! That I will be sitting for! It is my friend from works last night in the area so we are having a dinner for her!

So glad Zac is back to normal! Tyler - pneumonia! Scary! Glad he has some great meds.

Your leg doesn't sound good ~ could be minor, could be major. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Courgette is zucchini, right?

Dressy fleece - don't be confused. There's no such thing. Tooth Fairy = Dressy Fleece.

Love it!

OMG. You're Bella's mom. You repel all things electronic! :rotfl2:

I am stunned you are okay after that incident. Lucky? Or not?

Kat, that is just fabulous!!! Way to go!!!

I'm glad you celebrated. You deserve to.

I could freak out over the scale. But I can't. Because I am NOT a number. Would I love to lose? Yes. But I have to do something for that, and I"m not doing enough, so I'm not going to judge myself but be gentle. I do what I can, and I move on.

I'm sorry you're so upset about the measurement. It's just another measure, it's not you. You will get where you want to be. Journey, not destination. Right? Hugs.

Ok, see? You acknowledge they are "dressy WORKOUT clothes". This I can buy. Fleece-lined bra? For running?

And what is this Athleta? I love the concept of workout clothes. New ones. Whee!

Kat, there is no such thing as dressy fleece. Tooth Fairy! Sasquatch! :rotfl2:

WORD, sister-girl.

Oh, thank God for you, Lisa Z. Seriously, I was in dire need of a corned beef, Katz loving friend on this thread! :thumbsup2

Your grandpa works at a bookstore? Runs one? Tell me more.

Sigh. Best job EVER.

OMG that would be my dream job!

Yes, you get a drink. Go for it.

You do sound like me. Except for the fleece stuff. :rotfl2:

Um, YES. YES. YES. Me, too.

Um, a lot here. Just acknowledging that I am reading this, Nancy. And Erika already bought a VB. It only takes about six months of knowing me to start craving them.

Sarah, you have a cool degree, don't you? Isn't it interesting? Asian Studies? Why is is useless?

Lyz, thank you for today. SOOOO much.

Thanks for the congrats.

Pesto

Sarah - how was your workout? Did you manage to get it in? :confused3

Pesto rocks, but the store didn't have any tonight! I was 'stuck' with Newman's.

I so wish I would have found them sooner.

Ok, the great elevator incident. Our building is no more than 15 years old, but our vaters break down all the blasted time. So my lunch hour rolls around and for once this week, I decide to take the full hour and not eat at my desk. I had a new demon book to read afterall. So I come back in from my car (I park in the basement garage, so it isn't frigid) into the lower level of our building and wait for the vater. It took me up to the 9th floor (I'm on 3) and then back to between 1 and 3. Of course the phone doesn't work, but I did have my cell phone. I couldn't hear any of my peeps on the phone very well, but did get a text off to them. A few mins later, I am able to talk with my boss and am told the vater people are on the way. I missed a meeting with a co-worker and part of a pow wow session. What made it worse was the lights were dim and all I could think about was Steven Tyler singing while Joe Perry and his wife made out in their video. I did get through a very good section in my book though. It sucked.
