In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Okay, Amiee.

Tell us about the elevator. And tell us the names of the other books you read. If I haven't read them, my friend Jodi surely has. She is strangely not into Twilight, but is into lots of other vampire series!

Jennifer Rardin ~ my first vamp series that I found this summer. I didn't pick up reading for fun <gasp> until this summer. CIA assassin vamp with his assistant. They love each other but just started kissing and it is book 5 already! Some titles from her are "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" and "Another one bites the dust". Lots of action, but not so much romance. Definitely some frustration going on KWIM?

Lynsay Sands - 10 books ~ The Argeneau series ~ FAVORITE!!! What is not to love about a large vamp family that doesn't eat 'off the hoof' any more since they own blood banks??? They are hot hot hot too. Or at least are in my mind! Lots of romance! Lucian is my favorite vamp. Some of her books are A Quick Bite, Love Bites, Bite Me if you Can, and The Rogue Hunter. Not scary at all.

This is interesting about J maybe wanting meat again. Was he a vegetarian when you met? Have you always been a vegetarian? What if your kids want to eat meat (will you still accept them as your own;) )?

And a cleaning lady? Curse you.

Amiee - I can't even believe you dropped that bomb and didn't explain. In my world, being stuck on an elevator is a BIG thing. (I could see this being a regular thing for Kelly/Bella)

Jodi - your BFF - does not like Twilight? And you are still friends? The horror. Seriously. Did she try to read it? She knows your a pusher?

Amiee - I have Linsey Sands noted in my phone. Next time I go to a book store. (I don't want evil demon vampires, I like the nice vampires. I still have to be able to sleep at night, espically when hubs is gone on business.)

She is romance romance. Love her! If you want to read them in order, A Quick Bite is the first one. They are funny too! The later books focus on them hunting rogues ~ but none are scary.

No degree is useless. I have a minor in Ancient Greek. Yes, really. It is a DEAD language. And while I could never get a job using it, it is so far from useless! It is about knowledge, and the breadth of that knowledge. If you just want a job, go to a trade school. But if you want an education, then go to college and get a degree in something you love. (OMG, can you tell I am all about a liberal arts education??? :rotfl2: )

I will send you a fleece lined bra. You will never be the same. Especially you, my temperature-sensitive friend.

I can hear you now. "My b00bs are so happy." They will be.

I am SO all about the liberal arts education. Teaches you to think, to be a citizen of the world. There is no price on that.

I really want one now. 34C/36B. Same cup size, no kidding. You have my address.

My grandpa owns a Civil War and Western Americana bookstore... Has owned it since 1964 and is in the same location. http://www.guidon.com I worked there for 5 years... basically while I was in college and then after... I miss working there... Great job... paid like crap but hey I got to read all day long... literally I read Gone with the Wind like 4 times and Scarlett like 6 or 7... I should probably have just bought the store copies... lol... Plus I was able to do homework, scrapbook, etc...

My degree was fun... I have a BA in History with an emphasis on US/Asian History and a certificate in Southeast Asian Studies... I took Indonesian as a language but slacked off so I don't really know a lot... I don't use my degree at all and don't really know if I'd want to... LOL... but like I said it was fun to get. I love writing history papers... Don't think I have enough of my own ideas though to write a book or anything...

Went to Sprouts on my way home... got all sorts of healthy goodies... dried cantaloupe!!! 140 calories for 3.5 slices and when I eat dried fruit I usually take half a slice to work and make cubes for a mid afternoon snack... or eat one slice as a post workout sweet.... bought more dried mango.... got stuff for dinner and ASPARAGUS!!! Only 97 cents a lb! I love winter!! I hate hate hate canned asparagus... I am gonna bake some tomorrow when we eat our St**ks... (see E... I bleeped it for you :)) the rest I will blanch and mix with my tofu pasta and new singapore noodle sauce which is only 45 calories for 2.5 ounces which is way more than I will use with a serving of noodles... I love Sprouts... got a ton more stuff too and only spent 30 bucks... basically 3 or 4 meals worth of food... Now I am gonna go work out before I lose my motivation to do so... Catch ya when I get back!!

Thanks for the congrats.

I love the no-nonsense approach. LOVE it.

Yay, someone with sense. Bedazzled dress fleece, flannel undies... :confused3

Maybe I am weird, but I wear pants, jeans, tops, sweaters? And undies that are microfiber? No fleece, no flannel.

Oh, and I have known you longer than 6 mos, and have NO desire to buy a VB.

I am so tired tonight, may just veg on the couch with a book. Long week.

I feel like it's you and me in this corner of flannel and fleece "fashion". :rotfl2:

Okay here's why you don't have a VB. Because it wouldn't make you happy. so I have never pushed it with you. If you are going to be the resident fashion adviser, you have to know your friends.

Yes, I will take Edward any way. Clean shaven beautiful skin vampy edward or alternate universe human edward with scruff. Yummy either way.

Sarah--I started running about a year ago (well walking more than running at that point), with the couch to 5K program.

http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

I totally recommend it. I am actually doing it for the 3rd time through right now, in attempt to improve my 5K time. I literally have gone from pretty much zero activity to 2 half marathons and a handful of other races in a year. and I will run my 3rd 1/2 on march 1st! I am totally addicted to the races now, and it keeps me on track exercise wise.

YES to Edward. Any way, any day. Sigh.

My new running shoes came today! Is it weird that I am so excited for them? OMG, I love my Sauconys.

I am going to head out tomorrow for my long run. In new shoes. I am not too worried, as these are the same make/model as my current ones. But boy did I need a new pair! It is always so deceiving. My old ones LOOK fine and they even FEEL fine. That is until I put on one old shoe and one new. And the difference! Then again, I have put like 500+ miles on the old ones.

My tri stuff came in the mail today and J was like, "You're doing a tri?!?! Don't you think you should have told me?" Listen much? Sheesh.

Oh! Big news on that! My MOM is going to do the tri with me! Isn't that awesome? She will have to walk the 5k, but her pace is very good. Easily a 14 mpm walking pace. Maybe even better. (She walks at like 4.3-ish.) And here is the scary part...she is going to kick my a$$ on the swim! She swam half a mile today in 23 minutes. She is 69 and made of awesome. (Liz, I love that phrase and use it all the time. And don't give you credit. ;) )

I am totally going to get one of those shirts:

Race Registration - $65.00
Gym Membership - $400.00
New running shoes - $120.00
Doing a triathlon with my mom - PRICELESS

Ok, to set the record straight...I have never Bedazzled anything in my life. Ever. I am not crafty. I don't scrapbook either. Or bake (aside from the ocassional birthday cake for my kids, which really Karen does and I stand there and watch so that I can say I did it...my friend Karen is a professional baker). I used to quilt, but then had kids, etc. Now I am hard-pressed to sew a button on.

Ok, off to see if I can find a link to my dress fleece!

Yes, I want a link. ASAP.

On the husband front, Nick said to me yesterday "Oh, you have been depressed? I didn't notice."

Need I say more?

Awesome for your mom. Maybe one day my mom and I will be able to do something like that. Right now it's walks and following Bruce. :goodvibes

So, drank some wine. Had Jodi and Greg over for dinner. They leave for week's vacation tomorrow. And after really loving N, I kind of hate him right now. That's my life in a nutshell.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

KELLY! :lmao: :rotfl2: I can only laugh hysterically now since I know it turned out ok and you weren't seriously hurt! BUT OMG! Bella!

:rotfl2: OMG. I'm so glad you didn't get hurt! <sheesh> what some people will do to avoid having to mow the lawn

I think you are not clumsy but very smart. 1 small electrical dance = no more lawn mowing!:rotfl2:

OMG. You're Bella's mom. You repel all things electronic!

I am stunned you are okay after that incident. Lucky? Or not?

Oh Kelly, you can't be doing that!

Sounds like you had an alterior motive???

:rotfl2: I WAS ok after the electrocution incident! I may or may not have had a motive - no more lawn mowing for me! :rotfl2: I wouldn't mind if I had a huge lawn that I hated mowing but its about 2 metres squared - its tiny! Not worth the electrocution!
Liz - I think I am just Lucky - I have regular accidents but Ive never broken a bone, never been hospitalised - just bumps, bruises and burns! :lmao:

Listen up. I take my Edward - scruffy or clean shaven. Whatever he wants.

Oh absolutely. Any Edward is a good Edward.

Morning! Not much to say...going to try and get my long run in today. It is always a challenge when it is the week-end. Kid coverage and all of that.

But first we are off to the photography show. This is the one that Cammie has won the past two years in a row (Children's division). My mom has already seen the show (though they announce the winners today) and said she thinks Cam may not win this year. Lots of really good photos. And the age range is 5-12 and she is 7. (Yes, she won as a 5 year old. :cuite: ) I hope she is ok with that. We'll have to have a little talk before we go.

Ok, off to clean the bathrooms, fun eh? Cleaning lady didn't end up coming yesterday. Argh!

Good Morning! A quick drive by:

It's gymnastics and basketball day ~ when that is finished, I am without kiddos until 5pm on Sunday.

Off to get the kids ready!

Nancy, I like my Asics so far. Except for the pink part.

Mine have pink too. 'Cept I don't mind that.

I did get through a very good section in my book though. It sucked.

What sucked. The book or just the situation? :confused3

Ok, off to clean the bathrooms, fun eh? Cleaning lady didn't end up coming yesterday. Argh!

My cleaning lady did come. My daughter  I made her clean bathrooms before she went to spend the night at her friends house! :thumbsup2

I'm feeling like I'm coming down with something- laying low this morning. I may try to get a run in later. If not, tomorrow.

Good Morning! Sorry I've been MIA. My daughter and her dog have been at my house for the past week and she hogs the computer. They finally have power back, and she stayed a couple of extra days because she was sick and either didn't want to pack up and move or she was waiting for her roommate to clean out the fridge. But she went home last night.

I went to WW on Thursday and am down -3.4. for the challenge, I am following WW, have been tracking and have had most of my water.

Erika - doing a tri with your mom is so cool... Enjoy the experience.

Ok, the great elevator incident. Our building is no more than 15 years old, but our vaters break down all the blasted time. So my lunch hour rolls around and for once this week, I decide to take the full hour and not eat at my desk. I had a new demon book to read afterall. So I come back in from my car (I park in the basement garage, so it isn't frigid) into the lower level of our building and wait for the vater. It took me up to the 9th floor (I'm on 3) and then back to between 1 and 3. Of course the phone doesn't work, but I did have my cell phone. I couldn't hear any of my peeps on the phone very well, but did get a text off to them. A few mins later, I am able to talk with my boss and am told the vater people are on the way. I missed a meeting with a co-worker and part of a pow wow session. What made it worse was the lights were dim and all I could think about was Steven Tyler singing while Joe Perry and his wife made out in their video. I did get through a very good section in my book though. It sucked.

I have been working on an elevator replacement project for a few years now and those things are sensitive buggars. Although, riding on the top of the car is pretty cool... Glad you made it out all right. Hope the emergency phone on the elevator worked. That is what should get you i contact with help if you are stuck.

Kelly - after hearing about your exploits with the lawnmower, please don't stop by my jobsite. I would have to wrap you in bubblewrap in addition to the hard hat before I could let you out of the office. :rotfl2: Glad you haven't done any real damage to yourself. Please try to keep it that way.

I am SO all about the liberal arts education. Teaches you to think, to be a citizen of the world. There is no price on that.

Sorry you are not feeling so great right now. Nick will come around in time I'm sure, but I can come down and show him my angry eyes if you need me to. Hang in there. We have a shopping trip to plan right?

Word. Need report.

Sunny--way to go! Great loss! I will add your results to the chart.

Paula. Need. Report.

OK - here is the long awaited report on my date this morning.

Overall, it went well, but honestly I am not sure if there is anything there. He seems nice and is definitely interested in pursuing things further, but I am not sure if we have enough things in common that we can really do together. I also get the impression that his ex-wife seriously messed this guy's head up and I am not sure if he is entirely over that (especially since he talked about that endlessly) even though they divorced five years ago.

He wanted me to agree to a second date, but I was honest (since he said he appreciated honesty) and told him that I wasn't sure what I wanted to do yet, but would give him a call in the next day or two and let him know. I wasn't lying because I really don't know. I don't want to just dismiss him, but I have this sinking suspicion that there is something missing.

I need to sleep on it and I'll give him a call tomorrow after I figure it out.

So - that was it. No fireworks, but it wasn't horrible either. Hey - at least he showed up. For those that remember from the last time I tried this, you'll remember it was an improvement over the last few guys I was trying to meet.

Paula

Since I am catching up on posts, I wanted to give a few shout outs:

Steph - you have your hands full woman. Take care of that leg and your kiddos. Hope everyone is on the mend soon.

Kat - Whoo hoo on the loss. I love it when you are on your game. Glad to have you back.

Sunny - congrats on the loss. Great job.

Dawn - good luck on snack duty today. Be strong.

Liz - sending you hugs..:grouphug:

Lyz - don't work too hard...

Kelly - stay safe...

Sarah - Have I mentioned how much, I love the fact that you are back. Way to get back on your A game. Have fun running shoe shopping.

Nancy - Proud of you for resisting the wine last night. My offer to come down and show your kids my angry eyes over their report cards is open...

Amy - I hear things are starting to warm up in Florida. Have a great run this weekend and little D is too cute for words in that picture.

Amiee - enjoy your kid free weekend - will there be a certain mechanic spending any time with you?

LisaPR - How are you? Don't let the numbers get the better of you. They are all relative - don't loose sight of that.

LisaV - How are you???

LisaZ - What have you been up to?

Erika - um dress fleece link? Core workout? just sayin....

I hope I caught everyone.... What a crew we have. Love that.

I am off to eat some lunch and then onto my training session.

Talk to you all after my beating / workout.
Paula

Never dismiss this guy... definitely stay friends... my sister met her husband because he was a friend of a guy she dated that didn't really fit but because they stayed good friends he (the guy it didn't work out with) gave my sis and her now hub each others email... they talked over the phone all night one night and ended up meeting at a Dennys... life is mysterious... I am convinced we date everyone or meet everyone with a purpose whether it be to put a smile on your face, help you meet someone else, make you money (Can you tell I telemarket?) or maybe even help you meet a potential spouse! Maybe this guy for you was to show people ARE interested in you and you should NEVER give up!!!

Well DH ended up getting off at 1am!!! Which meant when he got home at 130 I had no interest in cooking... After scouring the fast food website nutrition guides I found I could eat a Chicken Fajita Pita and a medium fries from Jack In the Box... too many onions but to stay within my calories it was worth it... weighed this morning and was down so I made a good choice... Yay! (DH mentioned that since Saturday was my cheat day it technically was part of my cheat day and tried to convince me to go for the sourdough jack... but I didn't!!!) Pad Thai will wait until Sunday because today is real cheat day... I don't think I will track today otherwise I will not enjoy my 1 cheat day... I will second guess myself... Anywho I'll be off and on today... Gotta go shoe shopping, get DH a haircut, and maybe some new workout pants for me....

Steph - so glad you posted. Sorry about all the drama. And Pnemouna (I can't spell it.) That's traumatizing. Remember last year, I went to Disney World with hubs over Valentines day, and Maddi got pnemouna when I was gone. She was sooooo sick. Take care.

Kelly - your lawn mower story, hi lar ious. Well, since I know you are ok. And you got out of moving. Ever again. Smarty pants.

Dressy fleece - don't be confused. There's no such thing. Tooth Fairy = Dressy Fleece.

EXACTLY. EriKa - I don't try to convince you fried cheese is healthy cause it's dairy. Don't be trying to sell me "dressy fleece". (Oh and I LOVE fried cheese.)

Molli has a bedazzler. Just sayin'.

st**ks (again bleeped for E).

:rotfl2:

Paula, your coffee date sounds like it went well. And you are so awesome for your honesty with him. Hang up with the ex is not a good thing, but it might not be a deal breaker.

I am so not working too hard. I'm barely working. I am stuck in limbo. I am so un motivated. I think I might be depressed, but I'm too stagnet to even embrace a proper depression. I am in a funk. I so don't want to do anything. Work. Grocery shopping. Homework. I want to do nothing. I don't even want to shop! :scared: I need a jump start. And my tax situation, just keeps getting bigger as I put it off. OK, enough wining.

Off to take a nap that I don't have time for.

Um, yes to all of this.

Steph, Kelly, Erika, Paula, and the funk. Yes, yes, yes. Remember when I was crying in the parking lot yesterday? Ah, good times.

Needless to say I had to have her pull the car over on the ride home and then spent two hours in the bathroom down last night. Stephen didn't think I got home till 245. I left before midnight! Still feeling yucky today! no headache none of that stuff just the stomach is going WTH did you do to me! I didn't even bring Zac to skating this morning because hmmmm I was still drunk, (Erika I think I need some of your venom)

Sorry that you are depressed, and that Nick is being a b***head. :(

Do you guys think that winter has something to do with the depression? Because winter REALLY takes it out of me. One of the many reasons I moved south.

-I have lost 63 lbs (was more but I gained over the holidays... whatev tho I will get back down there).
-I have dropped my BMI 13.5%
- I have taken 6 inches off my waist
- I have taken 8 inches off my hips
- I have taken 4-5 inches off each thigh
- I have lost a total of 45 inches all over.

...

So maybe it is true that weight is just a number.... 45 inches!! Thats insane! Thats over a yard of fat that I've lost! I am definitely going to strut today! :cheer2:

You look AWESOME!!! So great on the loss.

As to my feelings on fitting fast food into your life, I think that for most of us (Erika and Nancy and LisaPR notwithstanding), this is something that we have to do in order to make this a lifestyle. It isn't something that I personally think should be eaten every meal, or even every day, but making that healthy choice in a pinch is what will keep the weight off in the long run.
