In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

I can not even imagine how awesome it would be to do that race with you girls!:goodvibes

Just Imagine: We could stay somewhere in the boardwalk/BC/YC area and walk back through EPCOT after the race (I stayed at BC in may for the 15K and it was so awesome to be able to walk back through and have that nice cool down walk), get showered and then drink around the world.:goodvibes

Um, YES. Seriously. This is ON. Kat? E? Nancy? Paula?

Kat--of course! But we are committing to doing the Princess Half. You get a tiara medal.

Me too? Please? Have AP, will travel...

E, I hear ya on the scale. That ON feeling is such a scary thing.

I thought of your Rock Me, Steven the other day at DHS... also saw Liz hot pink sweatpants. Remember when we took pics of Liz's hot pink a$$?

B$tch.

:rotfl2:

OMG, even better. Remember the ones you were like, UH, NO???

Holy crap! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: . I so loved the, "like I CARE."

Lisa! I am so glad you got that. It's like, please. You are my friend. I do not care what you eat, except as how it affects me. Like, did you get onion rings and can I have one? Or can I taste that? Or, will you share? :rotfl:

There is a 5K too the day before..But I would highly recommend the 1/2 because of the tiara medal. Enough said.

And it would be a great goal to help keep us all on track through this year.

OMG, YES. I am not kidding. What are the dates? I will put them in my calendar. It's a TIARA medal!!!

Ok, so I am definitely doing the April 5k. Who's coming to NJ? Kathryn?

Kat--of course! But we are committing to doing the Princess Half. You get a tiara medal.

Yes, and yes. I can do a half in April 2010. No way I could do it in April 2009 (for both training and financial reasons), but I am about 90% in to come do the Kormen 5K with Liz as long as my job situation holds steady.

Okay, E, Amy, and Nancy (and LisaPR). I need shoes. My cross-trainers will not do for even wogging. What do you recommend, brand-wise? Keep in mind that I cannot make a big purchase right now and would like to find something bargain-basement. I don't care in the slightest about style or color, as they are for gym only. I have flat feet that are on the wide side.

Do you alternate shoes for running vs elliptical/classes/aerobics?

I have one more day, tomorrow, and then Sat I am back on the wagon with a vengeance.

Hi Everybody!

Bad day, my co-worker who closes called in tonight, so I had to cover. I'm just now getting to eat supper. It bites. I haven't read a single post since last night.

Kat--I know you are going to hate to hear this, but given your feet and ankle issues, you cannot skimp on shoes. Can't. None of us can recommend a brand because we all get custom fitted, which is what you need to do.

Go to a real running store. Not the mall. A specialty store. They will examine your feet and watch you walk. Then, they will bring out 3 or 4 pairs that are acceptable for your feet and your gait. Buy one pair.

Then, once you own a pair and like them, you can search for them online and will likely find them a bit cheaper. Also, when at the running store, you can ask to only see last year's models, and that can save you money right there. The cheapest you will likely find, going with last year's models might be in the $60 range. And if you have a factory in the area, you might to bit better. Like Sauconys are made in Maine, and the factory is up by Lisa/PR, so can get good deals there. Barring that, though, you are looking at $60 - $120 for your first pair. I know that sounds like a lot for sneakers. But cheaping out will cost you WAY more in the long run. In pain. In doctor appointments. In physical therapy. You name it.

I wear my running sneakers for both the bike and the elliptical. I wear regular cross-trainers if I am only going to lift/do core, etc.

And no runners get to choose colors or anything like that. Like I said, they will bring you a few pairs to try on. They will watch you walk in all of them, feel for fit, etc. And the best pair wins. No color choice. No style choice. Just the one that is right for your feet.

I'll see what I can do... seems like everywhere I look lately is money to be spent. Sigh. I wish I could look 6 mos into the future, you know?

Oh, and Liz? Remember when those black sweatpants made it look like you were wearing a "matching" sweatsuit? All you needed were a few thick gold chains and some HEAVY perfume. :rotfl2:

Speaking of perfume, I totally forgot to mention the uppity chick who rode single rider next to us on Test Track! She spent the first part of the ride digging through some huge bag, sprayed herself with perfume (*DURING* the ride), then dug through some little bag for a hair tie for the track part, just to take it down when we slowed and brush her hair. Geebus!!

OMG, Kat, too funny.

Okay gang. Leaving tomorrow at 9am. Girls weekend. Drop kids off at school - I take my friend's son now, did I mention that? - then errands then go go go.

So I will try to read and post this weekend. Swear.

But this is my official, approved, going away post!!!

Nice try, Chickie...but SO not approved! :rotfl2:

OMG. Liar! Not only did I clear it last night with Lyz, Kat, Amy, and Paula, but I also spoke to you today! I have approval! Don't make me threaten your manhood, E!

(HOMG. Way to scare the newbies.)

GOOD MORNING!!

One of the girls has just walked into the office with a bacon sandwich. I swear I wanted to rip it out of her hand. But I didn't! :rotfl:

So I got weighed this morning - I am -1lb At my early, sneaky pre-weigh in it was more, but bad choices over the past couple of days sabotaged that. Hey ho, my fault! Im happy with 1lb

Morning everyone. You all get so chatty in the evening. Not a good time for me after getting up at 4 a.m. !!!

Kat, it is NB that is made up here. DO go to a Fleet Feet or somewhere that they will analyze your gait, etcetera but, tell them that you will be buying soon so you don't have to buy that day. If you find that you are fitted to a pair of NB shoes, get in touch with me about the model and size. We have an outlet here and I can SOMETIMES get them super cheap. In August, they will have a humongous tent sale and they have kicks down as low at 9.95. That goes for everyone BTW. If you wear NB sneaks, let me know the model and size and I will check. The outlet is on the way to the gym.

I also DO pick colors and such. I am more along the diva lines than I would like to admit. Even sweating like a pig I like to look pulled together. It nauseates most people so you have to forgive me. My best shoes are Saucony Trigon-6 Rides and Asics Gel-Kinsei right now. The Kinseis are $165 a pop.

Also go to runningwarehouse.com and use the WISHD discount code to check for your shoes. Of course this does not apply to Asics. In a perfect world...:goodvibes

Princess half 2010, put me tentative. Shelby has the FH tourney in February in WDW and it will depend on how stimulated the economy gets...:lmao: It is a wash for me between marathon weekend and the Princess. Decisions. So yeah, put me tentative but I am here for anyone with training questions!! ::yes::

And whoever put me in the elite status??? You silly girls...:rotfl: I appreciate the thought but I have found over the 3 short years of my running career that I HAVE to fuel my body differently or else I will weight 432 pounds!! I chose to eat foods that are high in nutrition so I don't eat so much. Nutrition dense I guess you would call them. My recommendation to anyone who is starting running is (unless you hate it) half a PB sandwich on whole wheat (just the PB please) and the other half when you are done. You can stuff this in your gym bag easily. I make the girls each eat like this before and after their workouts so I don't have to listen to Shelby whine about how starved she is afterward. Just food for thought lol.

As for me, I got my hair done. I am loving this style and color. It is a keeper for a while anyway. I never keep a hairstyle for more than a year. Sad but true. :sad2: Then I took David back to get his done which was unplanned, then to the cousins basketball game and then to the local pizza joint. Again, sad but true. I still met my goal of exactly 5 pounds and I got in 25.64 miles this week. All in all I call it a win for me. I also have to say that I am not afraid to step on the scale because it motivates me usually more than depresses me. I have a new determination now. I bought a new bikini yesterday.....:beach: for the VA Beach half. I wish I had before and after pictures but I never let anyone take pics of me when I was heavy.

So thanks everyone for your love and support during the challenge. This is probably the longest post you will see for awhile. Again, anyone who wears NB shoes, let me know. I would be glad to check for you. I just bought a pair of 858s and will test drive them today. I have tried many in the past and they just don't work for me. I have a pair of Asics Nimbus-10s laying in wait in case these fail on me. I am at the tail end of the Kinseis so I need to find another pair of those. Olympia Sports is having their buy one get one 50% off sale which works out well for me and I may check there this weekend.

Have a super great day everyone and I hope everyone does well on the challenge. :flower3:

MORNING!

Lisa/PR - WOO HOO on the CHALLENGE! You definitely made all of your goals! Excellent! So proud of you! Thanks for the shoe offer. I wear NB for tennis and cross-training, but run in my Sauconys. (And that factory was up in Bangor, not out your way...sorry for the cofusion. :) ) And I continue to be grateful that I can't wear Asics! :rotfl2: The price on the Kinseis is SO high, and like you said, you can't even use the WISH discount on those.

So, I made the decision not to get on the scale. Not yet. Maybe in a week, but by Valentine's Day, for sure. I honestly think that is what is best for me. However, I am happy to report that I blew through my minutes goal for the month, ending at a whopping 1645/1500! :cool1: And I got lots of core in as well. And I have been TRACKING for 14 straight days without missing a single one. So I am calling this a WIN for me! :cheer2:

LIZ--ok, ok...you can go. I won't like it, though. :rotfl2:

As I wait for the rest of the challenge results to come in, let's all start thinking of what we want for our next challenge! Something just for February? Something a bit longer, to like mid-March (6 weeks or so) and call it a Spring Break Challenge? Just a weight challenge? Just an exercise challenge? Let me know!

And LISA....here is the Goddess Crown for your Signature for completing the challenge!

tiara-crown-th.gif

Woo hoo, I got a Goddess Crown!! :cheer2:

Erika, great job on the challenge for you!! Maybe you should consider an inches off challenge for yourself the next time instead of pounds?? Where is the Saucony outlet in Bangor? I love my Rides!!

Yeah, the Kinsei price bites but I have to say for long distance, these shoes are the sweetest! I got them on a close out at Olympia for $65 and they were the second pair so they were 50% off that. Of course that was because the new model was coming out and now they are back to $165 a pair. Hence my trying the NB model. I had a pair of Saucony Guides which have a super rigid arch in them and they were my ultimate faves but they stopped making those too.

FYI for all you new runners, just when you find your "perfect" shoe, they will surely discontinue the model and the replacement is never the samel. Just sayin....:upsidedow

I have been given the day off due to lack of work flow. Yay again for me. I am off to do my domestic goddess work and get a jump on the weekend. Jeez maybe I will find some time for myself if I get everything done....

Kelly - you should get a goddess crown just for resisting the bacon sandwich... I mean who makes those. That is pure evil. Congrats on the loss.

Lisa PR - once again you are a font on great info. I'll keep you in mind if I find NB's that I like.

Liz - Have fun this weekend!!!

I am feeling a little better than I did last night, but still moving a bit on the slow side. For the challenge, here are my results, three training sessions, one cardio session, one snow shoveling session and if all goes well tonight, one more cardio session. Weight lost - .1 pound (hey - its a loss right?), but clothes are feeling loose so that is a good sign. Will measure on Monday and get an update on the total inches lost.

Princess 1/2 - I really want to commit to this, but I'll be honest, it scares the cr@p out of me :scared: . I don't run and am not a fast walker so the idea of getting swept off of the course for not keeping pace would just devastate me. I am all over the 5k thing, but walking at that pace for 13.1 miles. I just don't know. Let me think on this and re-evaluate as I get stronger. When is the registration period.

Spring Break Challenge - I am in. I want to hit my 50 pounds lost in the next two months. Can't convey how badly I want to hit that mark by April. Now for the details???

Have a great day everyone!!! Can't wait to read the challenge results.

:wave2:

Ugh, rough morning. Well, I weighed in and it didn't move. :( I did normal exercising 2 times this week for at least 30 mins. And I shoveled snow for God only knows how long ~ Tuesday morning was at least 45 mins. I'm a little bummed that I didn't make a full 8 lbs lost.

I have to kick my butt in gear and get this done. There is no reason why I can't do it. I cheated a bit this week, but it was a state of emergency and my company bought pizza for us (not including today's Super Bowl festivities). That was the only cheating and it was 2 slices. I'm beggining to think that my doc was right when she said it would be difficult for me to lose alot of weight.

I don't know when I will be home ~ probably will have to close again. Not looking forward to another 12 hour day.

Have a good day everybody!
