In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

Nancy. I've gone :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: crazy. Never used the man before. But he (:rotfl2: ) makes me think of you. Now he's in full rotation and I can't make him stop. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hey EriKa... It's Amiee!!

Glad I asked, and sorry I messed it up. There were just too many pages to go back and look it up! :rotfl:

I have my signatures and icons turned off so if there is something in there that gives clues, I don't see it.

And Lisa, I will. Sometimes life just gets overwhelming. Or I get stuck in a reading phase, or a catching up on CSI phase. If I am going to make it through a clean living working out dry Feb, though, I will be here a LOT. :upsidedow

Kat! Stop that! You know I don't mean when you're busy. Reading. CSIing.
I mean when you decide to go it alone. :flower3:

Dawn - if you're reading I've just noticed you haven't been back on. I do want to know if I misunderstood the situation. I do. I wasn't being sarcastic. I was giving the other side for sure. Hand's down. But trying to figure it out as well.

I've been holding off on commenting about this (since you and Liz already have), but naturally I see the educator's side as well as the parental side. Seriously, you all remember what a BASKET case I was at the end of the academic year, right? Down right awful, that stress. Well, a HUGE chunk of that is due to make-up final exams. I can't tell you what that does to screw up the timeline of everything. it is next to impossible to get my grades in on time when the exam isn't taken on time. And if my grades are late...it is a sh*t storm of trouble for me.

On the other hand, I would never put off my kid's vital surgery based on an exam schedule.

I guess my issue is how it is presented to me. When a student (since I never have to deal with parents) comes to me BEFOREHAND (as in WELL in advance. The exam has been on the schedule for 4 months so there is no excuse for not letting me know of a conflict well beforehand) and is reasonable, then I am the most flexible person on the planet. But when there is an ounce of negativity or hostility or coarse words....not a chance. And any type of threat? (Like, "I am going to the Dean!")...then it is GAME ON. I won't stand for that at all.

One of the things I tell my students is that one of the most important things they can learn in their college careers is time and project management. If they are able to look ahead and see, "Gosh, I have 3 exams and 2 papers due that week...plus baseball championships and my girlfriend's parents are coming into town...I can't handle all of that." Then ABSOLUTELY I will give an extension. That is a GREAT skill to work on and master. Learn how to schedule and plan. Learn how to prioritize. I love seeing students do that.

#1 Name/Family
Heather (25) I am married to my wonderful husband Dan (27) we live in Orange Park FL with our cute little siamese cat Angelina

#2 What you are the Most Proud of for the Year 2008 in terms of weight loss/excersize/healthy choices I am actually not proud of myself at all. My husband and i married in Sept. 07 and we just started packing on the pounds together. I have gained 20 lbs in the span f a year and half and that is why I am now on the wish boards to get some support and courage that I haven't been able to get

#3 What your goals are for 2009 in terms of healthy living

I want to lose the 20lbs i gained and be able to eat helthy. I would also like to run the half-marathon next year:scared:

#4 What is needed from us to help you achieve those goals
Support and encouragement as well as advice. I just need outside inflence to help me focus

#5 A famous person you would love to have the body of...because each of us has a different body style and the realities that go along with it...

Britney Spears( circa 2002 ). I am a die hard fan and when i work out that is what I think about to keep me going

#6 A good food choice that you turn to to help ward off the munchies...

Not so good with that:rolleyes1

#7 Why are you here/joining us...what do you hope to gain...or what have you gained....(not weight if that's the case! )
I am really hoping to join a community where I can receive encouragement as well as meet other people who share my same goals

Heather--we have several distance runners here (Half Marathon and up)! 4 of us right now and others who are starting.

Do you have a training plan yet?

Have you heard of Couch to 5 k?

Come run with us! (Virtually that is! We post our minutes and miles and pace and race reports....all of it!)

And 20 pounds?!?! Easy-peasy. Stick with us.

Kat! Stop that! You know I don't mean when you're busy. Reading. CSIing.
I mean when you decide to go it alone. :flower3:

I know. But I do reach out, it just isn't always here. It really depends on what is going on. I do trust everyone active here, and if it is just me and my own issues and struggles, then I don't have much of a problem in airing them. But if it involves other peoples' negative actions or behavior and the effect that has on me, I feel like it isn't my right to just put it all out there. Does that make sense? :confused3

Hey EriKa... It's Amiee!!

OMG, I am so sorry! I am wicked dyslexic and so I expect to see it spelled the other way and thus my eyes see what is expected.

But "double e" -- cute! We could just start calling Liz and Lyz..."I" and "Y" :rotfl2: .

It does make sense Kat. But here's the thing. I've noticed a pattern with you. Maybe I'm wrong - really. But here's the thing. I've noticed that you've said yourself that you've gone off/been off here because you're not on track or feeling low. (And that I understand because I've done it too). And I guess my thought is I wonder if there would less of the "off" if you stayed right here during it. Nothing to do with busy and such.

I feel the same as you. I have other places I reach out too. And sometimes I'm just busy. But this week really taught me a lesson. To not wait through a low/off track - for me to get through - instead I tried something new.

That's it! I guess I think you should try something new. Whatever is bothering you is secondary (very important hand's down but secondary to what I'm trying to say) Stay here when you're off track. I've noticed that you don't often. I hear off track and then you're not here. I'm rambling. Kat. I hope you can get some point of it.

On the other hand, I would never put off my kid's vital surgery based on an exam schedule.

Okay. Wait. My sincere apologies Dawn. I must not have read it properly. I would never put off vital surgery based on an exam schedule. I thought this was an appointment to get ready for surgery. And that you guys made the decision to have the surgery and that this pre-appointment so to speak could have been worked out around a set exam schedule.

If I got that wrong - then I was wrong. My apologies.

Good morning everyone. Checking in as promised. Thanks for all your kind words of support. I do count on you all for that. And Erika, thanks for the Goddess Crown although it will probably fall off in transition between here and there. I cherish that I earned it though.

So here is my confessional:
1. I was going to blow off today's workout entirely and go snowmobiling with my FIL this afternoon.
2. I ate a slice of pizza and a half bag of salt and vinegar chips yesterday.

There I feel better. Now the good news that goes along with the confessional:
1. My SIL cannot pick up David so I cannot go snowmobiling, hence forcing me to take Shelby and her friend to the gym today. :cheer2:
2. I still managed to lose 2 pounds this week bringing my grand total to -5.5!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :teeth: party: :jumping1: My miles, in case you missed it were 25.13.

Nancy and Paula (I think I got it right) your trainers sound brutal but awesome. I love, love, love your routines mixing in the cardio with the lifting just for the extra calorie burn. ::yes:: And my girls think that I am horrible for making them keep perfect form. Shelby is loving that I nag her constantly...:duck:

Alcohol in moderation, I am either all or nothing so I guess I am not much help here. I guess in my favor is that when I decide to really drink, I drink beer, which fills me up so I don't eat much. Sad but true.....

Dawn, sending pixiedust: in case I miss something in my absence.

Newbies, :wave2: That's me waving from the far northeastern corner of the US, even farther north than Erika!!

Erika, one of my disneyrunning friends and I are planning the LL Bean 10K on 7/4 and Beach to Beacon too. We are easy to spot in neon orange. Also, on the disneyrunning site there is a VA Beach mondo party planned with FE and boardwalk tour. We would love if you come with...:goodvibes

Everyone else, :wave2: :grouphug: Miss you much...:sad1:

Today I am taking Shelby and her friend to the gym as stated. I have 5 miles according to my plan so that will be a go today. I also need to finish my workout that I did not get in on Wednesday due to still helping the girls along or planting a boot or something like that. Teenage girls...:crazy2: Shelby does pullups which are not an easy thing to do at any age and there were 2 older girls who she plays softball with working out at the same time. They were talking about pullups and how they could not do them and guess what....Shelby refused to go do her pullups. Flat out refused. How do you get a 14 year old to be proud of being strong????? :scratchin

Morning all! You sure were busy last night! :goodvibes

I rocked this week's challenge! It is about freaking time, no?

Feels good to rock. I'm lovin' it! :woohoo:

I found out Jesse's last name tonight and it is Stamos...

:rotfl2:

Paula! Your workout sounds awesome! :cool1: Love to hear about the push-up bar. :yay:

Okay, so we know I'm overly sensitive. You know, right. :lmao: :rotfl: ;)

you ARE? :confused3

:rotfl: you know we love you for that, right? :flower3:

Brownies. I loved Brownies.

oh wait. I thought we were talking about brownies. Not "Brownies" :rolleyes1

Nope, its Amiee. But I answer to anything. My friends & bosses (clients too) call me Double E.

Double E :rotfl:

Nancy. I've gone :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: crazy. Never used the man before. But he (:rotfl2: ) makes me think of you. Now he's in full rotation and I can't make him stop. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

isn't he FUN? :rotfl2:

Headed to the gym.....have a great Friday everyone.

LISA! WOO HOO on being a LOSER yet again!! :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2:

You have already reached your January goal and we still have a week to go! Here's another goddess crown (in case you lose yesterday's! :rotfl2: )

Ok, I am in pain today. Crap! The hip thing that I mentioned yesterday has blossomed since doing my long run. Not really sure what to do about it. It is not truly painful in that I don't need ibuprofen or anything like that. It's just that every time I take a step, I get this little stab. Sometimes localized just deep, deep in the hip/glute and sometimes it radiates down my leg more.

So, what to do for a work-out? Planned for the day was non-impact cardio (either bike or elliptical) and strength, both upper body and legs (and core, of course). But...should I just rest? Should I only do upper body strength and core?

Nancy/Lisa/Lisa/Others....HELP!

CHALLENGE RESULTS TIME!

Let's have it...the good, the bad, the :scared:

Me: I am not weighing in till next week, but I know that I lost this week, so that is great. Exercise = I am at 1220/1500, core got done 5/5, tracked 7/7, so I had a great challenge week!

Lisa/PR rocked her challenge week as well and met all of her goals (and then some! :cool1: )

Nancy is on track across the board!

Everyone else...SPILL IT! :rotfl2:

Have a great day!

Erika, I don't want to clog the thread with your hip/glute issue so PM me, exactly where the pain is, what the pain is, what makes it worse/better and I will try and help you out with what to do for your workout today. It sounds like a piriformis strain but I want to be sure before I give you any advice.

Kelly, YES! I have to lose a stone!!!! I LOVE IT! I used to say that all the time. A stone! (Happy dance of joy.)

Please remind me. Please.

So glad it amused you. I am on all these Twilight communities, I subscribe in Google reader, and they post some pretty funny stuff.

One little stone sounds so much better than 14lbs. I'll remind you everytime you say pounds I'll say stones - 'Pound, stones, pound, stones' :rotfl:

Kelly - go tell your husband as well because the two of you give me such a jolt of happy times. You are so funny.

:rotfl: I did it. I went up to him and said 'You're lucky to have me, im awesome' then walked off again. I could hear him laughing in the other room :sad2:

I was going to tell you twinkies are like half moons. But unlike Rountree/Nestle or whatever Smarties/Coffee Crisp/Kit Kat - are those the ones we share together? You know what I loved as a child Wig Wag. You still have them but they're called something else? What is it called in the UK? It's like a intertwined caramel rope covered with chocolate. And those Cabury tiny logs what are they? Anyway UK/Canada doesn't share half moons cause that's a purely Canadian/Quebec invention. Vachons are Joe Louis, Mae West, Half Moons, Caramel and Rosettes. Oh Vachon. :rotfl2:

Chocolate. Chocolate. Chocolate.

Wig Wag?!
The caramel rope covered with chocolate sounds like a Curly Wurly. Im not sure what the logs are - unless you mean Dairy Milk?

OMG, Kelly! You just CHANGED the way I look at this whole weight thing!

YES! I only have ONE STONE to lose! I mean, how great is that?!?!? That sounds so much better than 15 pounds (and yes, I know that 1 stone actually = 1 stone, but I am willing to "round down" :rotfl2: ) See? LIZ--we each only have to lose ONE stone. A single one. That just sounds SO much better!

I am giddy with this. I am punchy like Nancy today. (Not that I want to punch Nancy, mind you, cause again...I wouldn't want to throw down with her!)
:

Always round down :lmao:
Yep - one stone much better than pounds!

EDIT! EDIT! EDIT!:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I meant you two as in Nancy and you. Your hubby isn't giving me a jolt of happy times. That I know of anyway. :lmao: :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Oh my, I about passed out with laughing when I read this! :rotfl:

:lmao: Just wanted to point out - we have never, ever had an eclair get moldy at our house. Nope. Never. :confused3 Perhaps it's because they are inhaled too quickly

And oh yes. Eclairs? Get moldy? What is wrong with you people??? Eclairs get eaten!!!

I have never actually seen a mouldy eclair. Ive never seen an eclair more than 5 minutes old :rotfl2: The mouldy part was a rumour I heard from a skinny friend who can keep eclairs in her fridge for days on end!

OMG - I love The Family Guy!!! I went to college in RI so I get the RI humor that show has. Plus, baby Stewie totally rocks. Victory is mine...

Family Guy is hilarious! Stewie is my favourite.

Kelly - losing a stone... like that. Need to figure out how many stones I need to lose.

One stone = 14lbs :thumbsup2

This week I am -1.5lbs :cool1: This brings my total to 5.5lbs so far in January

Heather--we have several distance runners here (Half Marathon and up)! 4 of us right now and others who are starting.

Do you have a training plan yet?

Have you heard of Couch to 5 k?

Come run with us! (Virtually that is! We post our minutes and miles and pace and race reports....all of it!)

No i don't have a training plan yet any thoughts or advice? I have also never heard of couch to 5k :scratchin but I would love to hear more::yes::

Thanks for all the welcoming! I really appreciate the warm reception:grouphug:

OMG, Lisa and Aimee...post much? :rotfl2:

Who?? Us?? Never!!:lmao:

:rotfl: When people are having dates, masked as cars a fixin, that's big, important news. Dates. Right Paula? Any news for us?

I'm still thinking it's just car fixin's, but I will go with the flow. Gotta trust.

:upsidedow

OMG, I am so sorry! I am wicked dyslexic and so I expect to see it spelled the other way and thus my eyes see what is expected.

But "double e" -- cute! We could just start calling Liz and Lyz..."I" and "Y" :rotfl2: .

It's ok! Doesn't bother me a bit! If having a bra size for a nickname doesn't bother me, then a missplaced 'I' won't either. There is a story behind that ~ when the other supervisor heard my nickname, she loving joked about it being a bra size (we have worked together for 9 years, so we are one big family).:rotfl:

Believe me, it has saved so much grief over the years! Heck, I even have my lunch bag marked with it. :rotfl2:

Good morning everyone. Checking in as promised. Thanks for all your kind words of support. I do count on you all for that. And Erika, thanks for the Goddess Crown although it will probably fall off in transition between here and there. I cherish that I earned it though.

You have much more restraint than I ~ it would have been the entire bag!

Well, I gotta run. I spent to much time catching up. I have other stuff to say, but will say it later.

I couldn't weigh in this morning. Looks like my scale is broke. Even I can't gain 20 lbs in one week and then be back to normal in about 30 seconds.:confused3

Umm, what happened here last night?? I was on until almost 11 last night??

Heather-- I am about ready to start C25K for the 3rd time (not because it didn't work the first 2 times, I just like the structure of the programs!), so feel free to ask any questions.

Amiee--So sorry that I have misspelled your name 5 million times. :flower3:
