In Search of my Body...Not The One I Ate.. #4 "Inspiring Others... 1 Tiara at a Time"

:lmao: Again. Laughing until I'm crying here. :lmao:

Nancy, again - A cousin of Nick's did ROTC. She loved it. Holy Cross. I think it sounds amazing, and the scholarships are pretty special too. How wonderful to get your kid to that point.

wait. Holy Cross? In Worcester? :confused3 My nephew just graduated from there in May - Navy ROTC. He's in Japan now...

Me. I'm just not that into it. I have decided my final goal, though. And I'm changing my ticker to reflect it. I am not at this point ready to push through and get to 150, wear a size 8. I want to be 157, a low 10. I think an 80lb loss is pretty freaking good. And I'm going to be happy there.

Good goal. 80 lbs...is awesome! :cheer2:

Damn. I might need to give up booze. ARGHHHHHHHH.

Watch out ladies...it's catchy! :scared: And really - it's not that bad. Not at all.

Twinkies are more like lard and sugar whipped up and injected into a 10 day old sponge cake, that is about half preservatives, cut in the shape of a wee log. Nothing fresh about them.

Yummm. Kat. You should write the descriptions for menu's or something :rotfl2:

A friend of mine in high school left one in her locker, unwrapped, for an entire school year and it grew no mold.

:crazy2: TOTALLY disgusting.

My Feb goals are as follows:
1) No alcohol
2) No weigh-ins until Feb 27
3) Eat clean... no junk. Veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean meats. Emphasis on veggie servings, protein, and fiber grams.
4) Exercise like a fiend. At minimum, hockey on Monday, kickboxing on Tues and Thurs, and some kind of cardio twice a week. Weight training will be added in March.

Good goals for you too, Kat. Like 'em. :upsidedow

Eclairs are really nice (and fattening). They do go mouldy though if left unattended for days on end!

Just wanted to point out - we have never, ever had an eclair get moldy at our house. Nope. Never. :confused3 Perhaps it's because they are inhaled too quickly

Nancy - you are so flippin' funny. The "voila" comment made me day. Your husband is so flippin' lucky. And you go and tell him I told him so. :lmao:

I will tell him. ::yes:: I'm so sure he'll agree with you :rolleyes1

You know what I loved as a child Wig Wag.

Wait. What? :rotfl2:

YES! I only have ONE STONE to lose!

Losing a stone? Is that like losing your marbles? :lmao:

I am giddy with this. I am punchy like Nancy today. (Not that I want to punch Nancy, mind you, cause again...I wouldn't want to throw down with her!)

(where's the smack-down smiley?) I am just...delerious. I'm telling you - exhaustion gives me more of a buzz than wine.

Liz--jump on the anti-alcohol bandwagon with us. So far it is me, Nancy, and Kat once she gets back from WDW. We'll have a party on this here wagon! Oh wait...that would sort of defeat the purpose....:lmao:

A prohibition party. We'll dress up in flapper dresses....:hyper:

EDIT! EDIT! EDIT!:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I meant you two as in Nancy and you. Your hubby isn't giving me a jolt of happy times. That I know of anyway. :lmao: :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Wow, everybody was really busy today! Awesome to see!

Just wanted to pop in to say Hi and will be back after a bubble bath and some grub (yeah the kids went to bed a bit early!).

Aimee - I think I have your song! I hope you like it. I need to start running all these by you guys.

Lisa - you have a great point. I need to learn moderation. So, glass of wine at book club on Saturday.

Also, got an email from the hostess - "Here's the menu, so you can plan you day" with all the foods and their points values listed. How nice was that???

Nancy - she went to Holy Cross, but graduated in like 1999? She's no longer in the Army, but did make it to Captain! We had a big party and sang a family-written version of "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Captain and Tenille. Gave her Captain Crunch, etc etc. Her General, who came to the family party, loved us. :goodvibes

Now she's a mom, a nurse, and married to another nurse. They met in the Army, though, and she spent summers jumping out of plans. All in all, pretty cool.

And oh yes. Eclairs? Get moldy? What is wrong with you people??? Eclairs get eaten!!!

Great. Now I have some twisted version of Rick Springfield running thru my head. "I wish that I were Jesse's girl....where can I find a trainer like that?" :lmao:

Love it! Love it!

I hate it when I do that too. BUT. Because you ARE a good mom - you apologize to them, letting them know that it was not *them* that caused your anger...thereby teaching them that a) adults do make mistakes; b) that it is appropriate for everyone to apologize when they do something they shouldn't; c) while it *is* ok to be upset or angry about something, that it's NOT okay to release that anger inappropriately; and d) modelling for them a *better* choice for how to act.

See? you ARE a good mom

That's awesome Nancy!

So. My workout. It was kind of like child birth. Painful as I went thru it, but now I'm struggling to recall the details of what went on! :rotfl2:

First - no, we didn't do body fat. I'm really disappointed. She had made a *bit* of a comment about the fact that Planet Fitness doesn't offer that as a service, so she needs to be really discreet when she does it. Not sure she really wants to - but we (my workout partner & I) are going to keep pushing her on it. And measurements? Didn't do those either -because - she wants us to do those first thing in the a.m....before we shower (yeah - like I shower before I go to the gym? :confused3 )...and definitely before we work out at all. We had gotten there early enough today to have a 10 minute warm up on the elliptical before she arrived...so it was "too late". Has to do with blood flow, etc apparently. SO. Tomorrow morning, hopefully hubby will help me :crazy2:

I have never heard of that. Odd. Your workout sounded killer.

Yes Lyz - you're right. I forgot to add that I'm absolutely consistent with exercise. Fortunately for me - I love it.

But I have watched, I Can Make You Thin, and there are people who focus on eating consciously, don't exercise like me and do get to their goals. So it does happen.

I was already on my eating decision for years when I saw it but it made me think "okay" when I saw it.

The exercise isn't really weight loss for me although I'll take it and it helps for sure. It's all about my mental health. It really makes a difference. And I have to watch it - my mental health. I gave away a lot of years because I had an aversion to meds - never took them - and gave away years. Years. That's sad. But happy to be out. And grateful.

I have a confession! I didn't exercise a lick before December and lost over 30 lbs by watching what I eat. I'm not saying that was a good way, but it worked when I needed it. I do feel a huge difference now that I am exercising even the smallest amount.

Just taking a quick read to catch up and post a few things...

Nancy - I am exhausted just reading about your workout. The fact that you did 30 minutes on the elliptical afterwards is just impossible to me. My sessions are similar in that my heartrate is up the entire time. It is a little less intense as we are at different fitness levels, but it kills me the same as yours does you. I'll see if I can recall tonight's workout when I get home so we can compare notes...

Liz - I'll write more about Girl Scouts later tonight.

BTW - it is the evil cookie selling time of year. Please buy cookies to support your troops and your councils. This is their primary source of income and scouting offers such great programs for our girls. My advice is to promptly donate the cookies to your local food pantry upon receipt so that you don't eat them. A simple act will help two organizations...

Lyz - glad that Allison is doing well today...

OK - gotta run... talk to you all later tonight when I am done being Jesse's Girl.... (that just cracks me up...)

Paula

Awesome Idea about the cookies! I hope you enjoy being Jesse's Girl tonight.

ha ha! Think of me when you are humming that little Rick Springfield tune during your workout! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

Treyer and I are a lot alike so we never went through any bad periods...bad moments yes...both quick to fuse and quick to de-fuse...last day of finals as well and my nerves are at and end...teachers still have not put in missing assignments from when we were gone in Dec. They acknowledge he is current...but until I see those grades and Fort Lewis gives that final okay...nerves are high...:crazy2:

I know I have not posted my calories from yesterday but wil do so later and todays...

Yesterday I picked up Carsyn and she was in tears...she is missing a final today...had to meet with her principal about the situation...and he was an @ss...so we had a mtg today and I explained I would be happy to kick him in his man parts if he ever talked to her the way he acknowledged he did...

Carsyn is having a 3 hour pre-op exam and tests today regarding he bladder defect...she will be having an operation within the next few weeks and it is a 2 part deal...1st to put a temporary connection to a device called an interstem...it will be worn on the outside of her body but connected to her spine via electrodes implanted...

If it works...they will implant it in her buttock area 30 days later...

This is very stressfull for her, embarrassing and she is worried about everything involved let alone everyone knowing...

Her principal...when she explained she was trying to set up a time before or after to make it up...explained she was being irresponsible because finals were important...she said...this is important too...he said...well then you have 2 important things and I think the one that needs to be given priority is your final...(insert punching mother smiley please)

Now I had called and talked to the nurse regarding this, talked with her school counselor who I was told needed to know about the final from me...but the office told her that she needed to talk to her principal...

yes he had no clue the level of importance this has...but regardless...she was being responsible..teacher gone to DC and sub doesn't want to make a decesion...so he then needs to educate himself if he has no clue...

When we talked...he said...well I guess the final could be considered second important...and I said...yeah...a 3 hour appointment scheduled months in advance cannot be moved...he said - well I guess I will allow her to come in Friday morning then...I said good...cause otherwise me and 3 news channels would have been here today...

He was the towns revered football coach and ever since he retired his coaching position after a major screw up 2 years ago...is a principal...retiring next year...and I...will kick my own kids tukkusses if they screw up...but I will kick yours if you are being an insensitive @ss...

Ugh...

Anyway - off to her appointment...then have that free movie screening tonight of New In Town...so be back late...

Lyz - glad you and yours are having a better day!
Liz - I think I may already be over my calories and it is only noon....but I am tracking...writing everything down...
Nancy - glad you liked you body spanking by someone not your spouse! :rotfl2:
E - your a great mom simply because you noticed and appologized...many do not have the power to do that...and your advice the other day regarding a manipulative person...and how to react...was spot on BTW....::yes:: :flower3:Thanks so much as usual....

Kat - enjoy yourself and some down time...:upsidedow

All else...read and caught up...:wave2:

I hope everything works out with school. Bites that they are buttheads.

#6 A good food choice that you turn to to help ward off the munchies...

Not so good with that:rolleyes1

#7 Why are you here/joining us...what do you hope to gain...or what have you gained....(not weight if that's the case! )
I am really hoping to join a community where I can receive encouragement as well as meet other people who share my same goals

Yeah! We have another newbie! Welcome Heather!

Oh I have so much more to say, but I gotta get my bubble bath in. Yep, I just had to start reading first.

Also, got an email from the hostess - "Here's the menu, so you can plan you day" with all the foods and their points values listed. How nice was that???

That's a really nice gesture. :goodvibes

Nancy - she went to Holy Cross, but graduated in like 1999?

Ah. well. Just *slightly* before his time...since he just graduated last May.

She's no longer in the Army, but did make it to Captain! We had a big party and sang a family-written version of "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Captain and Tenille. Gave her Captain Crunch, etc etc. Her General, who came to the family party, loved us. :goodvibes

FUN!

Had more babies this evening. So fun. Pictures this weekend....

So - my check-in....

Food - 30 points. Higher than usual...but, taking my daily exercise into account? I so needed those few extra points today.

Wine. Nope. (whine? perhaps just a little :lmao: :lmao: )

Exercise - if you missed it earlier - it was a brutal training session this morning. 60 minutes total body conditioning followed by 30 minutes elliptical (plus 10 minutes for cool down and stretching...)

Counting it as 100 minutes...for a January challenge total of 1150/1500

Since it's Thursday night - I'll also note that I tracked for 5 out of the 7 days this past week - *just* meeting my goal.

Paula - how was your session tonight?

Dawn - food?

Erika - core? did you post that already, because I forget...

who else. There was someone else on my "call out" list. :headache: Wasn't there someone else I *offered* to check in on? :confused3 Bah. Someone's getting lucky tonight.....

Just a quick check-in and then I will comment on all of the posts...

BUT. Back from my long run. 8.6 miles! The first 4 miles--total stonker. I had talked myself into stopping at 5 miles and calling it good. But then mile 4 to 5 was good.

And then, right at mile 5 something happened. Guess what came on my iPod? "Dude Looks Like a Lady." And this was the song that was on RnR when my "friend" came out with "Rock me, Steven." OMG, it brought back such an awesome memory that I kicked it into gear and did the full run that I had planned. And that mile was my best time as well!

Ok, more later.

Erika - great job on the run.... you totally deserve that goddess crown!

Everyone should talk more about their cleaning products. My new duster has a handle that extends. Its fabulous.

What did I find when I googled Twinkie. Well, let me tell you:

Strangely enough, when I went on the actual Twinkie website im still none the wiser about what they actually are.
According to Peter Griffin Family Guy, they would survive a nuclear war. Which is nice.
:rotfl2:

OMG - I love The Family Guy!!! I went to college in RI so I get the RI humor that show has. Plus, baby Stewie totally rocks. Victory is mine...

Paula - Can I just write the GS a check? I don't even want to take delivery of the cookies!

Liz - they would love it if you just wrote them a check. More money for them in that bargain. We did a brochure a few years back called "How the cookie crumbles" that explained where all the money went. I used to be on the board of directors for the local GS council. We recently merged with three other councils so now I just sit on their properties committee. We just hired a design firm to do a study of all 12 properties to determine what to do with each of them. All told, we own about 7000 acres over 12 properties ranging from up near Canada to parts south of me. I am helping them with some of the architectural questions that come up.

If anyone has questions about scouting, just ask. I'll do what I can to help.

Paula

OKay, I am sort of caught up.

Nancy- I am late on this but that scholarship is awesome! And Norwich is a great school. I thought I was doing good when I got 3500/semester from UNH! and your workout. OMG. :faint: Can't wait to see pics of the goat kidlets!

Lyz-So glad that your sister's surgery went well. Continued good thoughts and prayers. :goodvibes

Liz-So cool about your book club menu and posting the points ahead of time!

Paula- I am just waiting for BFF's daughter to hit me up for a cookie order. Must have thin mints. Even better when I keep them in the freezer. yum.

Erika-WTG on the LR!! I am looking forward to getting back to a happy place with my running. Love all the goddess crowns.

Kat- Hope you have a safe trip to the world. Gorgeous weather and beer at EPCOT awaits. :goodvibes I do love the atmosphere at Mexico. We recently re-tried it and were much happier with the food.

Kelly-Loved all the twinkie talk! Totally LMAO.

Aimee-I hope your bubble bath was nice and relaxing.

LisaV-Loved your post about the alcohol. :goodvibes

Heather- :welcome:

Daily round-up:

Food = 1260 calories, all tracked thank you very much.
Water = working on the last 12 ounces now
Alcohol = zero
Exercise = 8.6 mile run + core (which makes 5 for the week...goal)

I rocked this week's challenge! It is about freaking time, no?

Erika - great job on the run.... you totally deserve that goddess crown!

Thanks, Paula!

Are you covering Camp Wendy (south of you)? Hudson Valley Council, I am pretty sure. I went and worked there for years and years! Some of my best friends and best memories are from there. I was going to be the troop leader for Cammie's Brownie troop, but the council up here is just AWFUL so I bagged it. Scouting has always been such a huge part of my family's life. All of the boys are Eagles, etc.

Since everyone was asking about my time as Jesse's girl tonight, I'll share some details. First a funny story though...

I found out Jesse's last name tonight and it is Stamos... I almost started laughing given the conversation we had earlier in the week about John Stamos and his Uncle Jesse role. I didn't because I really didn't want to explain that to my trainer.

So here's the workout:

- 5 minute warm up on the bike (level 10 with a min RPM of 85 - 90)
- Dynamic warm up with 3 sets of 15 each squats and lunges - usually with a weighted ball
- with 10 pound dumbells in hand, front lunge followed by a shoulder press. 3 sets of 7 reps per leg
- steps ups with 10 pounds of weight in each hand (more cardio than anything else and my heart was pumping)
- rows while seated on one of the inflated balls (to work the core - um Erika... core workout??? just checking) 3 reps of 15 at 50 pound weight
- pull downs while seated on the ball - 3 reps of 15 at 50 pound weight
- push ups - first set of 15 then we moved the bar down another 4" and did two reps of 8 each. This is a huge accomplishment for me since I could barely eek out one the last time we tried to drop the bar. It is now about 36" off the floor.
- back to the bike where the following was at level 10
* 1 minute at 90 RPM
* 30 seconds at 110RPM
repeat three times
followed by 3 minute cool down
- stretching

Not quite as intense as Nancy's, but I am not in as great of shape as she is, but I will in time...;) Trust me though, this workout kicked my bummocks.

Enjoy!

I am loving the fact that you all have been so chatty today. Gives me something to enjoy while recovering from my workout.

Kat - have fun on your trip!!!!
Lyz - how is Allison doing?
Liz - bring on the songs...
Heather - welcome to this crazy bunch... Erika is going to be all over your wanting to run the 1/2. She is a running machine.
Amy - thanks for posting your goals. It will help us to keep you on track now that we know what they are
Kelly - losing a stone... like that. Need to figure out how many stones I need to lose.
Aimee - how are you???
Nancy - you crack me up tonight. Not sure what the addition of alcohol would be today, but it would likely be funny. Have fun with the baby goats. Oh - tell Seth if he has any questions about his program in Arch / CM to let me know. I'll e happy to help him in any way I can.
Dawn - tell Carsyn I said good luck with the tests and the procedures.
Stacey - is school still going well?
Lisa PR - you continue to amaze me woman with all that you do. How do you do it?
LisaV - Your attitude is truly inspiring. You have found a way to work good habits into your life. That is what I want to do. Thanks for sharing your stories. They do help.
Jena - where are you? How have you been?

I hope I got everyone... Exhaustion is totally setting in at this point.

Have a good night and an even better day tomorrow. Keep working your plans everyone!!!!

Paula

OMG! Paula, that is so funny! Jesse Stamos. It would have been too hard to explain. Your workout really sounds like something I could handle. This is one more reason why I love coming here. I can't help but be motivated by hearing everybody work their plan.

Doing well, hope you are too!

Thanks, Paula!

I haven't heard of Camp Wendy. I'll have to ask some of the folks from Hudson Valley about it. I worked with Mohawk Pathways and we merged with Hudson Valley, Adirondack and the North Country Councils.

That is too bad about your council. Scouting is so awesome and the new programs that are available are awesome. I still remember and apply one of the things I learned in scouts - always try to leave your site in better condition than you found it. I apply that to everything I do. I try to make things better.

Glad you are well. Can't complain here. Life is good at the moment.

I love reading about everyone's workouts too. The hard ones provide me motivation and the not so hard ones give me things to try.

EDIT! EDIT! EDIT!:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I meant you two as in Nancy and you. Your hubby isn't giving me a jolt of happy times. That I know of anyway. :lmao: :rotfl:

Oh my gosh! So funny!!!

I've got a TON to catch up on!!!

I have been contemplating my Feb. Goals:

1. Exercise: I felt like I needed to be more specific this month so: C25K 3 times a week, One LR/week, core/ab/shred 3X week. So pretty much something everyday, unless I double up with C25K and core/ab/shred.

2. Weight goal: Another 5 pounds

3. On the no Alcohol wagon   , EXCEPT (Feb 1 (superbowl), Feb 14th (valentines) and one girls night out (maybe), Feb 28th (after my 1/2 marathon, maybe). And on these days I will have wine.

4. Track calories 3 days a week. Starting small here.

Off to catch up.

Sounds like a great set of challenges!

Aimee - I think I have your song! I hope you like it. I need to start running all these by you guys.

Lisa - you have a great point. I need to learn moderation. So, glass of wine at book club on Saturday.

And oh yes. Eclairs? Get moldy? What is wrong with you people??? Eclairs get eaten!!!

Can't wait to hear about the song!

Erika ~ thanks for the Crown!

I lost alot of the quotes while I was in the tub. I so enjoyed it.

Kelly ~ I was going to comment on the twinkie. They are insanely bad. I live in a town that is know for a street festival similiar to Mardi Gras, but it's all for non-profits. Well, some lunatic decided it was a good idea to deep fry a twinkie. Avoid it like the plague!

Kat ~ enjoy your trip and I can't wait to hear about it when you return.

I can't remember who started the 'eat/drink/enjoy' topic, but I love that philosophy. I enjoy lattes with a passion. I have a friend who owns a coffee shop and her java is not bitter at all. I cannot/will not cut that out of my diet. To make it better for me, I use skim and sugar free syrups. I end up having a 100 calorie drink, but I throughly savor it. It's all about passion!

Okay, so we know I'm overly sensitive. You know, right. :lmao: :rotfl: ;)

I hope to God that my squaking about the alcohol doesn't make you all feel like I'm not behind you all. I hate that some of you explained. I so don't want anyone feel like they have to explain their weight loss choices. Okay, I know I'm emotionally needy right now. Oh well. That's where I'm at this week. Tonight.

I was having a nice day. But long story short my parents are having their house painted while I'm here. And Jess the painter said, "Lisa I won't be here until Friday" and tonight I put a double lock on - which is hysterical since I leave my door open to all all the time at home. All the time. Anyway, he tried to get in tonight. And it was okay. But it felt awful to hear the door being tried to be opened when you aren't expecting anyone. I don't know it felt icky. Okay, I sound crazy.

Liz - I so want to hear your feelings about your new goal weight if you want to share. I mean how you got there. How you feel about it. If you want. I'm asking cause like cutie I'm curious and also selfishly I think will help me too.

Hey cutie - sighing - thinking - hope Alliison is doing as well as expected or better - just hey and thinking about you.

Tonight.

That does not sound crazy at all. Unless I missed a day, today is still Thursday. It would have scared the crud out of me too. Panic!

And there is not one thing bad about being emotionally needy. Everybody has those days.

Amiee - I forgot to tell you. You know that boy, who was trading dnner for work, is interested. You know that, right? ;)

Paula - thanks for Jesse fix. I so need my Jesse fix. You are a star man.

Dawn - if you're reading I've just noticed you haven't been back on. I do want to know if I misunderstood the situation. I do. I wasn't being sarcastic. I was giving the other side for sure. Hand's down. But trying to figure it out as well.

And Nancy is looking for you. :rolleyes1

Nancy - did you tell him? :lmao:

Thanks Amiee.

BUt people have days. Lisa has many. :rotfl: ;)

I just gave you some insight about that dinner swapping guy.

I shouldn't have said crazy. I use crazy when I can't explain. It's just that I'm still sitting with it and it happened hours ago. It's triggering crap. I'm judging myself. I should stop that - now. Now.

You really think so?

I haven't posted this much back to back in so long!

I am not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow. My hands are really swollen, so I think I might have some water issues. Oh, I didn't drink a soda today, so that is 2 days in a row.
