In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Wake up everyone! I am supposed to be doing a 5K, but it is POURING Rain.:scared1: And cold, for this FL girl.:scared1: :scared1: I'll head out anyhow, and see what's going on.

Ugh. The most memorable race I've ever run is the annual Thanksgiving Day road race that we run every year. It's a 4.7 mile run...of which approx 1.25 -1.5 miles is this nasty, brutal hill. :headache: Approx 10,000 runners. Chaos. Too crowded to really get a good stride/pace going....Some people dress in costume (I followed an Indian up the hill one year...nothin' but a loin cloth! Can you say TMI??:scared1: )...many spectators drinking many beers at 9:00 in the morning...:rolleyes1 ....

Anyway...2 years ago, when the starting gun fired, it was like a shot literally burst the clouds. It rained. No, it POURED. There were rivers of water running down the hill as we were running up it...and rivers of water threatening to wash us back DOWN the hill as we went down the other side. I have never, in my life, run in such weather. DH, DS and I were completely soaked within the first 3 minutes of this 4.7 mile torture. And the temp??? 42 degrees Yep. That's right. We were numb for HOURS. We looked like a homeless family....all changing in the parking lot - DS couldn't even get his clothes off when we got to the car. DH had to physically strip DS who has no body fat! It was crazy....I'll never forget that race...

So, i'm considering wrapping myself in bubblewrap, i'm such a dork.

Honey, I feel your pain!

Time to tackle the mountain of laundry... :tiptoe: :laundy:

I will never, ever complain about my laundry again. Ya know that woman that we hired at work? Yeah. She has 7 kids. SEVEN. Just IMAGINE the laundry that lady must do! :scared:

Oh - and me....yeah, I can never resist the chance for a snarky remark. So here we are doin' that whole "gettin' to know you" while working together the other day. Ask her about family (I knew her youngest just started kindergarten this year...was curious about others...)...she says "well, I have 7 kids".....So, I ask her if she knows the Duggars. She gives me that confused look "the WHO?" :confused3 ummm....never mind....;)

So we leave this morning. *sigh* Hard to believe that the Disney part of this vacation is over already.

Enjoy part 2 of the vaca, Erika!!!

Lisa - have fun with your visitor!

Dawn - thinkin' about you and Baylor....

ME - I'm in mourning....:sad2: ...with this time change, the sun is going to set here at 4:43pm. BAH.

DD is watching "Mean Girls"..... I love that movie :thumbsup2 totally cracks me up! I think I'm going to go to Target. I'm in need of a bit of "me" time today, ya know? This may come as a surprise, but I currently have too much on my plate. I know, me...trying to do too many things... shocker, isn't it? :rolleyes1

So we leave this morning. *sigh* Hard to believe that the Disney part of this vacation is over already. Lots of overall thoughts about it, but I will post those later when I have a bit more time.

Ya know, I think a vacation after Disney is such a good idea. You guys know how to travel.

So, i'm considering wrapping myself in bubblewrap, i'm such a dork. On top of wrenching (or SOMETHING) my back (which still hurts like a b1tch, but mildly better than yesterday) I was walking through my kitchen last night and caught my toe (the one next to the pinky toe?) on Bruce's foot and yanked it sideways. Yes, thats right, i managed to crank my toe on my husbands foot, wth!!!! Now it's swollen up to twice its normal size, black and blue, and i'm limping b/c of it.

 I found this funny. I know it smarts. I have broken many a toe for stupid reasons just like that. It's horrible.

I did the race! It was a bit drizzly at the start, but it stopped. It was cool though and I was glad I had my running pant. it was also nice to not feel totally overheated and gross while running. No PR this time, but I did finish in 33:45 (garmin time), the same exact time as 2 weeks ago. I did better with pacing myself though. Other than 2 water stops and a bit of time to get rid of a side stitch, I didn't walk at all. The race was a bit disorganized (started a half hour late, start line was not clearly marked, there was also a half going on and it was unclear where the routes split). But I am really glad I did it. A good way to start my day. :yay: :yay:

Amy, glad you did it! Did you buy a new garmin?

A given. Last time they were giving out peanut butter ones. Yummy.

I've not had these yet. I love the Ghiradelli caramels, so I know I'd love the peanut butter!!!!

I'm off the airport soon. His grandaughter is coming in from Taiwan. And she has hours before off to Montreal. And she smokes. So she's had so many hours and hours without one. So maybe we'll go off property.

Again, NO SMOKING!!!

Was he a cute Indian?

:rotfl: Yeah, Nancy, I don't even think you were on AIM the night we had a Dugger stake burning.

I'm in need of a bit of "me" time today, ya know? This may come as a surprise, but I currently have too much on my plate. I know, me...trying to do too many things... shocker, isn't it? :rolleyes1

Wow Nancy, Really? ;)

We are taking it slow. Watching Swiss Family Robinson and napping.

For the record, I find it cruel and unusual punishment to even consider summit plummit. I will NEVER do it. That, to me, is as bad as riding to Florida in a car!!!

Wow Nancy, Really? ;)

Lyz, you will be very proud of me. I made a decision, and I'm sticking to it :scared: I hope....No...I AM.

As you well know, I am a habitual "over scheduler". I volunteer for too many things, have too many "balls in the air" and my juggling skills are, well, not refined enough to handle my balls! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The weekend of Nov. 21 & 22 is the drama club play, for which I am working on costumes (NOT giving that up.) Thurs Nov 20th (which is dress rehersal night) is also a craft/vendor/shopping night sponsored by a local preschool. I was WILDLY successful there last year selling my soaps, so, yes, I am going to participate again - dress rehersal will have to go on with out me. ;)

Nov. 22nd (Saturday) is also a concert at our church. I had been asked a while ago if I would coordinate a dinner to feed the 50 member choir for this concert. I said "yes", of course! But that was ages ago, before I knew when drama, etc was. SO. I am working on COORDINATING. As in DELEGATING. As in, "this is what needs to be done and YOU need to do it". I am NOT making myself available to assist at the event, or in the 2 days prior....I will help plan menu details, give advice on prep, serving, etc....I am NOT shopping, cooking, setting up, serving, or cleaning up. I am handing out assignments and lettin' it go! :thumbsup2

see...I told you you'd be proud :goodvibes

BTW....didn't make it to Target today. I'll go Tuesday...AFTER I vote, of course! But I did get some of my gardens cleaned out...and sadly, it's getting dark now...:sad2:

Nancy!!! I AM very proud of you. I know it wasn't easy to come to this decision, to actually let others do something, but in the long run, it's so beneficial to YOU!!!    That deserves 4 bananas.

I have made some beneficial decisions for me too. I am taking a page out of Liz and Erika's book.

1. I will have Christmas shopping done, DONE, by Thanksgiving. (I have always hated to spend the money, but it doesn't matter if I spend it in Nov or Dec, it is still getting spent and in Dec it's much more frantic.)

2. I am cutting WAAAAAY back. It's ridiculous what my children already have, and money is tighter too. And for the adults too. Just buying to buy is not necessary.

I feel really good since I have come to terms with it all.

DD is watching "Mean Girls"..... I love that movie :thumbsup2 totally cracks me up!

As for the Duggars - never even watched them but your comment.....:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Mean Girls, Lohan's house - party central, was filmed in my uncle's house here in Toronto. They actually painted the rooms and emptied the garage. My uncle is a pack rat so they must have thought what the hell did we get our selves into!!!! He's since sold. Beautiful house - sat right on the bluffs over the lake. It was like you were in the country or on an island but he was minutes to downtown.

And I so love Rachel McAdams.

Again, NO SMOKING!!!

OMG. There is nothing I love more than a road trip. Nothing. And I love to fly too so that's saying a lot. Road trips - top fives fav in all of life. Probably top two ---- hmmm maybe three if I ever get a date. :rotfl: :lmao: ;)

As for the smokes. She just knows death and her around me = a cigarette so she says to me I'll sneak you one after I didn't smoke one with her on the way to the car. I said no and I thought of you Lyz. Thank goodness we went. Her flight via Hong Kong was an hour late and her Montreal flight was in a different terminal. And she's been through Toronto so many times but I guess she didn't realize at Pearson (our airport) a terminal can be in a flippin' different time zone. So we were like on our own amazing race - driving her over - punching the kiosk - running to security. An attendant told her about a secret slow security line. He said go there now cause you ain't getting through here. Oh airports - I really love them. No sarcasm. They make me feel so free and full of hope. I so love planes.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Dawn

And she's been through Toronto so many times but I guess she didn't realize at Pearson (our airport) a terminal can be in a flippin' different time zone.

HUH? The terminals to the same airport are in different TIME ZONES? How totally and completely confusing! :confused3

So cool about Uncles house in the movie! DH has an aunt who is in Pasadena, CA...her house has been in movies - mostly in "background" shots though. They have a neighbor who actively seeks to "rent" their home for movies, commercials, etc. Guess they make pretty good money at it too!

WOW, you guys and your rich relatives!

I talked with Dawn. Baylor is pretty miserable. He's home and the most they can give him for pain is Tylenol 3 and Ocycodone (?). It's not really helping.

He goes back to the burn center on Tuesday where they will reevaluate the situation. Right now he has super 2nd degree burns, which is right under 3rd degree (I'm not sure if I'm saying the correct terms or procedures). 3rd degree is when they have to do skin grafting. His skin is burnt off but does have an opportunity to regenerate. The touchy area is his ankle. The skin is burnt completely around in a circle. So the skin on his foot and leg don't touch.

Dawn and Carsyn are changing the dressing.

I told her you all send your love, and prayers.

Hi all--just a quick post tonight. No time for a trip report from today. We don't have internet access in the room!!! WTH?!?!? Crazy. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel without internet. So I am in the lobby checking e-mail and checking in here. This is going to be a major pain in the a$$ since I have lots of work to do.

I will write my TR offline and then post it next time I haul my laptop over here.

Other than that, things are fine. It was a ROUGH start here, but I will explain later and all is good now. Suffice to say...we are not in Disney anymore...and it so totally shows.

Miss you all.

Oh Nancy. I can't read you. I was being facetious about the time zones for the terminals. :rotfl: :lmao: ;) Very - very - very far apart.

Hope things get a lot better. Free drinks will help for sure, eh?

Have fun Erika.

Lyz - don't feel bad about laughing about the toe. I find this whole series of events quite amusing, a comedy of errors if you will. And to add to the amusement, my puppy ate my cell phone last night, and when i ran to grab it from her (as not to let her eat the battery) i smashed my other foot on the coffee table.... yes thats right, the same exact toe, just opposite foot :rotfl:

I will be wearing a seatbelt while at my desk at work, and perhap a helmet. I'll be a vision.

SO, i hate that it's monday, busy busy busy busy busy..... it's open enrollment, and i hate it. And everyone in the office is grumpy!

Did decent with the food yesterday, i am hoping to be able to walk (carefully, surrounded by pillows, and with that little emergency cord strapped to my waist) on the treadmill tonight, and loosen my back up a little. I'm such a loser, i think i need one of those senior citizen life alert bracelets lol

Other exciting news, Bruce and I are going to plan a long weekend (quick getaway) vacation for January or February, as we never get to see each other. Any ideas where to go? Not sure that i'd want to do disney, three days is not enough, i like to give my self enough time to get immersed while i'm down there.

Ok, done rambling, off to shower and go to work :headache: EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT (accident free!) Day!

Good Morning Ladies. It ought to be a good thread day. I am expecting lots of reports. We have Liz Kat Paula and Munky who halloweened the weekend away. Erika who is apparently stuck in a different century. And Steph - who was also alittle elusize, for no reason that I can figure.

I am in a chipper mood thus far. I got my house in tip top shape last night, made some lists (mmmm, love me some lists) and it's Monday. Full of hope and opportunity. I'll tell you where my head is at noon, mmkay.

Oh and since eating my way into a post halloween coma, today I will start posting all food and exercise again. (Yes Dan, I was like a kid at fat camp. The good chocolate is all gone.)

Oh and we get to vote tomorrow. I can't tell you how excited I am.

I love to vote. I'm very sentemental that way. It's my right. My civic duty. I am a woman.

And I can't wait for this freaking election to be O.V.E.R.

Caio for now. Off to the dreadmill. My nemisis. Wait, maybe that's my fat.

Good morning everyone...

Well, I managed to eat my way through another weekend... I am totally expecting a gain when I head to JC tonight.... :confused3 I really need to work on a plan for getting through the weekends. I am so good during the week and then totally lose it on the weekend....

The weekend itself was good. I kidnapped my mom and took her shopping for the day on Saturday. Nothing major, just discount stores, craft stores and the local wharehouse club, but it was a fun day with her so it was worth it. I did finally order a new coat. I ordered a Field Coat from LL Bean (no, I am not turning into a member of Erika's walking LL Bean catalog family... yikes - she would make me run somewhere if I did that.... love you Erika....) It comes in in two weeks so I should be set. It is in a nice girly dark plum color... Of course - pictures to follow...

Dawn - I am thinking and praying for you and your family.... Sorry I missed your call yesterday. I was actually taking an afternoon off from my cell phone (ok - I forgot to turn it back on after church.... and didn't realize it until I went to bed... oops...)

OK - I'll post my food later... right now, I am trying to stretch my side out since I did something to it while sleeping last night. Moving is a difficult experience right now... (you should have seen me trying to get dressed this morning... that was an adventure in pain). Hopefully, I can work this out in time to go to the pool tonight...

Talk to you all later,
Paula

Hey everyone!
I'm back! We had a great trip!! We got dreamed again! It was soooo great... I can't type long cuz big boss from Israel is here this week... I'll post when I get home or when I have lunch...

Hey Ladies..

Stacey Hope your toe is feeling better. I do stuff like that all the time. At least once a week.

Dawn Continued good thoughts, prayers coming your way.

Lyz Luckily all I lost was the charger for the garmin. it had enough juice left in it to get me through the race. I found a charger on ebay from someone who left the watch in a hotel room, so they were selling the charger.

Sarah Can't wait to hear more about your trip.:surfweb:

Erika No internet access in your room?? What decade are they living in? Be sure to partake in at least 3 drinks for me.

Nancy I loved your race story!

Liz, Paula, Lisa and anyone else I am forgetting:hug: :grouphug:

DD is so screwed up by the time change. She went down for a nap before lunch.

The scale has NOT been kind to me this past week. about a week before disney, I was 191. Then TOM and Disney came, and I was 196 when we got back. I was 194 on friday, and 196.5 today!:scared1:

So I am going to enforce my once a week weigh in policy. The fluctuations are too much for me to deal with. I also need to stay better hydrated. I've been drinking too much coffee and diet soda and booze. And I will be posting my food daily on here to make myself more accountable.

I hope everyone is having a good monday.

Amy

Omg... catching up...

Dawn- I'm so sorry about Baylor. You and your family are definitely in my thoughts...

Everyone who posted pics- they are sooo great! I love Halloween pics!

Anywho still kinda busy at work... More later :)

Sarah

33 minutes / 2 miles, treadmill. Weights for arms.

YEAH FOR LYZ! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Same here. :headache: It's so frustrating. I do much, much better when my day is "scheduled". It's like taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back every week....Give me an ounce of freedom, and I tell ya I just can't control myself!

Glad you had fun shopping! And :yay: for the new coat!

Hey everyone!
I'm back! We had a great trip!! We got dreamed again! It was soooo great... ...

Welcome back! Reality bites, doesn't it?

So I am going to enforce my once a week weigh in policy. The fluctuations are too much for me to deal with. I also need to stay better hydrated. I've been drinking too much coffee and diet soda and booze. And I will be posting my food daily on here to make myself more accountable.

Ummm...'scuse me? :confused3 But were you just inside my head reading my thoughts? I am SO in that same place. Too much wine, not enough water. So I've made a pact with myself. No wine until Friday night this week. I soooo love a nice big glass of wine while I'm making dinner  You know...empty stomach, glass of wine...maximum impact :rolleyes1 But the alcohol is a major sabatoge factor for me. I learned that l-o-n-g ago, but still......knowing and doing are different things. And one is MUCH easier than the other! :scared:

Today I'm really trying to focus on eliminating the mindless eating. This morning, as I was making a PB & J sandwich for DS, I swiped my finger along the knife and had a nice blob of PB....I popped it into my mouth... , realized what I had done and ran to spit it into the garbage can. :thumbsup2 Kinda gross, but it was a victory for me. :goodvibes

And as I type, I'm eating popcorn popcorn:: ...just realized I was SHOVING it in my mouth like I hadn't eaten in weeks. :confused3 What's up with that? <sigh>

So...drama club for me tonight - (didn't get my *homework* done :sad2: ) so I have to figure out dinner now....I'll post my food and exercise later tonight.

I am with you on the mindless eating thing... I did a little baking this weekend and completely lost track of how much dough and how many samples I tried.... Why does this whole eating just what you need thing have to be so dang hard????
I am proud of the whole spitting the PB out of your mouth thing.... I say godess crown for you for realizing you were eating mindlessly.... mental accomplishments are just as important as the physical ones....

Goof

Got a call from Dawn....

The docs at Baylor's follow up appointment found some third degree burns, mostly around his ankle I think. They are going to start doing some skin grafts in about two weeks.

Baylor is in a lot of pain and is pretty miserable right now since he can't do much.

Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers...

Paula

Oh and we get to vote tomorrow.

Hey! Hey! Hey! Watch it with the we. :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I'm not Ms. Pamela Anderson with her dual citzenship you know....I know we so look alike. I can see the confusion.

OK - I'll post my food later... right now, I am trying to stretch my side out since I did something to it while sleeping last night. Moving is a difficult experience right now... Yikes Paula. Hope that improves.

That must have been quite the dream. ;)

Hang in there Amy. Booze - I so love that word.

You know...empty stomach, glass of wine...maximum impact :rolleyes1

Thanks Paula for letting us all know.
