In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

I had an awesome 4-mile run today in 40 minutes, so I'm good, right? :goodvibes

And LYZ...you totally got me through my run today! Thanks!

EriKa - yaay on the size 4's!!!! I'm so green!!!! "I" got you thru your run? I was just sitting at my dest enjoying a butterfinger? And thinking 48 more days! How the heck am I gonna lose any weight?;)

Amy - I'm sorry about your job. I don't work in an female rich office environment anymore. Thank heavans. I don't know if I could. Well I could, but I'd want to kill someone.

Ok sitting here at work... Now I want Jack in the Box curly fries... LOL... not gonna happen... Gonna go home, work out, sleep, and then eat smart pasta and maybe treat myself to some Breyers Samoa Girl Scout Cookie Ice Cream... Only 120 calories for a 1/2 cup... Oh well... LOL...

Great news about the jeans, Erika!! :cool1: :cool1:

I've been reading and keeping up just not posting. I'm in a bit of a funk, as of tomorrow I could be laid off at anytime and definitely before the end of the year. We do have a plan so I am not too worried about the financial impact, but it still stinks to get laid off. And the coirker drama has gotten so high school. I am so over it. Everyone is in their 30's. Grow up. for example, the other 3 members of our group went to a local job fair a couple weeks ago, and failed to mention it to me and another coworker. I could see maybe not discussing like really specific jobs you might be applying for, but a job fair where it is kinda open to everyone. And one coworker even went so far as to tell me she was at home from work because her DS was super sick. Whatever.

In the long run, being at a new job, maybe only working part time will be a very good thing for me as an individual and for our family. It just sucks right now.

Hey Amy. Hopefully, something really wonderful will come out of this. But I hear ya how crappy it is.

Lisa

Yes YOU. I was just thinking how impressed I am with you. How proud I am of the progress you have made...The strength you have shown in the last couple of weeks (ie: discussing the trip, etc.). And mostly how I can't wait to hang out with you. Like, I just KNOW it is going to be so much fun and we are going to have riot and just totally click, you know? It just made me happy thinking about it and my run was over before I knew it! :goodvibes Love you!

Funny thing about my job is that while it is female majority (at least in my department) it is a guy who causes most of the problems. I swear he is totally premenstrual 24/7. Thanks for all the good job thoughts, everyone!. :goodvibes :grouphug:

Erika, Awesome run!:worship: I had a craptastic 3.5 mile adventure, but at least I did it. How long did it take you to get to 10 minute miles? that sounds super fast coming from a mostly 12 minute miler. Have you always been a runner? Considering when I started in february from ground zero it was torture for me to do ONE 20 minute mile, I shouldn't complain, but I just want to keep going faster!

I don't think I've ever had an apple martini. I must put that on my list of drinks to make!

OMG, Amy, I am not a natural runner by any stretch of the imagination! Like you, I am brand new to it, having just started in February doing C25K. And yes, I am S _ L _ O _W for the most part. I am typically a solid 11-minute mile girl whenever I do any type of distance.

My history--no, I have never run. Ever. And even though I was athletic through HS and college, I never ran. In fact, I went out of my way to avoid running. Like, I played goalie because there was less running (truly, that is why I went for that position). And I was competitive swimmer. Why? Didn't have to run. I faked knee injuries to get out of gym class when we were doing the track & field unit. I sh*t you not.

Anyway, during the first round of this thread (now in section three), I said one day, "I think I am going to start running...." My thought process at the time was that I have three kids and a FT job and at least running is something that can be done any time, anywhere as long as you have sneakers. So, I thought I would be able to fit it in whenever possible. That was why I started.

Since I have a *wee* bit of OCD myself, I got compulsive about it. I completed C25k in like 3-4 weeks. And then I didn't know what to do next. Should I try to run farther distance? Or should I try to go this distance but faster? (I was at about 12:10 minute miles at that point, I think.) Not knowing what the heck to do next, I got a running coach.

We have a FAB running store about half an hour from me, so I went on their website and saw that they offered personal training/running coaching for a very reasonable fee. I called and made an appointment. I talked with the Coach and then signed up on the spot. Come to find out he is a PREMIER coach. Like, he currently has 6 athletes that he is working privately with. 5 women who are working for the olympic trials and me. :rotfl: I know, right? In fact, he was featured in a summer issue of Runner's World.

So anyway, I started working with Coach Michael and told him what my goals were (to finish a half marathon was first, and now to finish regular 5ks and 10ks and not be embarrassed by my times) and so he got me on a program to do that. My ultimate goal is to do a 5k with 9-minute miles. I know, most runners would laugh at the fact that I have set a 9-minute mile as a goal, but I have come to terms with that.

I can do 10-minute miles like today's run, but really it is not that often. That is why I mentioned it here and thanked Lyz. It was only because I was thinking of her and how much fun we will have in Dec. that I ran so well. Like I said, left to my own devices, I am a solid 10:45 - 11:00 minute miler.

If you want help with tempo runs for improving speed, just let me know! :)

ACK! I go away for a few days and there are 7 pages of posts to catch up on...:faint:

I'm going to try and watch Biggest Loser and read at the same time....

Erika Thanks so much for sharing your how I got to running story.:goodvibes I was not athletic AT ALL during any part of my life. i was strictly a band dork. I chose it in part like you , since you can do it at any time. Easy to work around DD's naps, whatever. I also decided I needed a definite fitness goal to keep me on track and a race seemed like a good idea. I think your 9 minute miles, 5K goal is great! I hope to go sub 30 by the spring. C25K definitely helped me pretty much run without stopping(except for a couple water stops) my 5K PR (36:50) last weekend. I am hoping to knock another minute off in this weekends oktoberfest 5K. I will actually be running WITH coirker, so I am hoping to use that as motivation.

And when you get a minute, any info on tempo runs would be great! I never thought that when I started this running thing that I would ever become obsessed over my pace. But I am and I want to go faster!

Thought I would share a preview of DD's halloween costume..We'll be trying to get her picture with the real snow white next weekend.

And Nancy, I must say, I am not ignoring you. I don't quote you as much as the others, simply due to the fact, most of your responses are "in" someone else's quote. And it's too much work to go grab what clever ditty you put in there. I'm missing alot of good stuff here. Stop it.

Sheesh! She YELLED at me! :confused3

Just kidding ;) ...yeah...I get it. Never thought of it that way actually...

TOO CUTE!!!!

Good News!!! DH is going to days permanently starting next Monday!!!! :dance3: No more cruddy sleep schedule!! Hello cable tv! Anywho must go torture myself with 30 minute Shred... adios!

Forgot to mention thank-you for all the 30 day shred discussion. I need to add another DVD to my workout collection and it seems like this one is a winner.

Also forgot to mention some exciting vacation planning news. I booked our room for marathon weekend at POR. I am running for the Children's Tumor Foundation and they had a pretty good rate on a block of rooms there. I may change if they ever release a resident code for that time, but at least I have something.

Also booked a room at Port Canaveral for thanksgiving weekend when I will be running my very first 1/2 marathon!!

(and made the necessary kennel ressies at the pet resort for my furbaby)

GREAT news, Sarah! I know that you were hating that schedule, so I am sure this is happy news for you!

Hi Gang,

Reading here, just too busy to stop and write. It's crazy, crazy, crazy. The next few days will be socialite. Friends in town, Rob and Richelle - who took my before pics -and Nick has a work function every night.

So, Erika...very awesome. Great victory for you.

Amy, i feel you. The economy has hit me, too, I am sad to say. The weeks before the end of the year will be hustle, hustle, hustle for work. I hate hustle. I have my fingers crossed for you.

I'll post tomorrow after WW, or at least call one of you and let you know how I did. Miss you.

xoxo

I have news. The new jeans arrived today. I went upstairs immediately to try them on. I knew that they would be too tight, but I wanted to see how tight they would be.

Um, they fit. Size 4. They like really FIT. I would be more excited, but I am still stunned. I am wearing them now...circulation is not cut off. Pretty comfortable. Just....stunned.

Wowza. :woohoo: I wanna get me some of those teensy weensy jeans!

And NANCY--waiting for the week-end report!

Yes. I promise. It was SO MUCH FUN. I think you would love it. :goodvibes

I was just sitting at my dest enjoying a butterfinger? And thinking 48 more days! How the heck am I gonna lose any weight?;)

 STEP AWAY FROM THE BUTTERFINGER! :rolleyes1

K - think I caught up on the reading....

Amy - sorry to hear about the job stress... keep us posted and I am sending good thoughts your way...

Nancy - welcome home...

Sarah - just say no to the fries. I ate enough nachos tonight for both of us.... time for me to exercise now..

Quick drive by tonight... off to exercise and then bed..

Wow. And I know what you mean. Getting caught up in the excitement. It IS going to be fun.

And you know, I have come far. While I'm not "losing" weight. I am now of the mindset that I have to workout. Kwim?

Do you realize the irony. Now your runs are long and involved, more work than at the start.

Since I have a *wee* bit of OCD myself, I got compulsive about it.

Sarah, that is great news!

Nancy, bout time you checked in. I want to hear about your adults only swingers camping weekend.

Tonight we got material for the girls costumes. Molli wants a masquerade ball dress and Maddi wants to be a cat with a red cape? Supercat anyone? Boy oh boy, did I push hard for a princess, but, not gonna happen.

My MIL will make their costumes. She is the seamstress and loves to sew for my girls. She literally would be upset not too.:yay: I know you've seen this before, but here are the costumes from 2 years ago. My favorite.
