I tried to do a search before starting a new thread but couldn't find my answer. We're staying at VWL and VAKL, do these properties have in-room safes to lock wallets and such in?

Thanks a million in advance and...

Every villa has a safe. However, all safes are not created equal. In the THV, the safe was really large. We were able to fit 3 laptops in it. It is also one of the newer models that doesn't require a key -- you enter a code when you close it, and that same code opens it.

At BCV and BWV, the safes were the opposite end of the scale. They were big enough for wallets and jewelry, but a laptop wouldn't fit. They also used a key, which meant we had to find a place to hide a key.

The in room safes at Villas at Wilderness Lodge are the old style Dave mentioned - they use a key and in my opinion are not "safes" but rather an inconvenience to a thief. If it's closed, they know there's something of value in there and may be worth a little effort to open. Some of the safes don't even close all the way leaving an inch gap when you tug the door. If you have a work laptop or something you cannot afford to loose/replace without a lot of pain - use the safe at the front desk.

The safes at Kidani are very cool & I trust them. They're pedestal style and use a code or better yet - your room key. However, only the key that locks it can open it again. Both a blessing and a pain if sending someone back to the room for, say, medicine and it's locked up while you need your key down at the pool bar :cool1:

Oh, and Jambo's safes are the old style, but larger than VWL.
