In room phone question

Is there a cost per minute to make a local call or are local calls free?

I am not sure, but I am assuming you will get charged. I was surprised to find out that I had been charged $2.25 for making two phone calls using my phone card!!! I had never had that happen before.

There is a charge for local calls. The only free calls are calls with in the resorts. I never use the room phones. I bring my cell phone and use it.

I'll have my cell too but was looking at dial up internet options.

When you check in, they hand you a card to sign. On the right hand side, near the top, it says that local calls an 1-800 calls are now $3.95/minute and long distance is $7.95minute.

Local calls are 75 cents per call. No per minute charges if you are using it for dial up.

I too was shocked when I received my print out of room charges even though I used my calling card I was charged $.75 per call. I was shocked we called 3-4 people everyday for our entire 16 day trip not that $12 is a whole lot of money but I keep track of everything we charge to the room and we usually come "REAL" close to the limit I would have felt real silly if I tried to use the card and I was at my limit!!!

If you are attempting to call within WDW, the best way around that, is to dial operator from your room and ask to be connected to that specific area, resort, etc.
