I got some great gifts today, including a BibFOLIO and another headband/visor from Gone for a Run, and a Pandora bracelet for the Princess Weekend charms I preordered.

After presents and brunch, my grandpa decided to go for a walk, and I went with him. I swear, he picks the coldest days possible to actually follow his doctor’s orders to go out walking! We went almost 2 miles, and it took me almost 2 hours to completely thaw out 🥶😆

Princess Half Training: Day 106

In amongst prep for yet another family Christmas event, I managed to find time to finish another episode of The Mandalorian while I did 9.65 miles in 37 minutes on the stationary bike. And later, I got to go out shoveling 🥶🥶

I think I might switch my runs from Tuesday and Thursday to Monday and Friday this week. I have to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; and with my mom in town, it would be nice to not have to use so much of my evenings on running (and Wednesday I have to go to the dentist). I’m definitely going to be on the treadmill for all my runs this week because it’s going to be single digit highs and I just don’t need to freeze.

Princess Half Training: Day 107

It was so freaking hot in the back bedroom/workout room tonight! My mom gets chilled more than me, and since the guest rooms are in the basement, I boosted the thermostat a couple degrees. But the back bedroom is small, and the door is kept shut, so the temp went up at least 5 degrees. I guess it’s good practice for unpredictable Disney weather, but I could’ve lived without it tonight. It’s also a heck of a lot better than the -3°F feels-like temp and icy roads outside.

I got through two more episodes of The Mandalorian, just one left and I’ll be ready for Book of Boba Fett!

Princess Half Training: Day 108

Back to work today, at least for a couple days. I got to go out and shovel twice today, and did a bit of stretching to fill up my rings. I don’t like our freezing weather, it makes me feel even more stuck in the house than usual.

I just found out that the family member that missed on of our earlier Christmases will be coming next Friday, right in the middle of my virtual race weekend 😡🤬

Princess Half Training: Day 109

Yet another boring day of work, followed by a visit to the dentist. I did 2 rounds of yoga to fill my rings. I feel so lazy this week with 3 days between runs in the middle of the week—I don’t like it!

We had a pheasant and a small herd of deer come to visit out bird feeders today.

Princess Half Training: Day 110

When I moved my run from today to tomorrow, I forgot that I get off 2 hours early before holidays. So I got to run today after all, but I didn’t have enough time before my mother and I went to a movie to do a full hour, so I’ll still run tomorrow.

I finished the last episode of The Mandalorian during today’s run, so I get to start The Book of Boba Fett during my run tomorrow.

I’m getting better at running on the treadmill.

Princess Half Training: Day 111

Well, today’s plans went out the window fast. I got up and helped my mother get packed, and then I planned to do my run after lunch. But I got distracted and delayed by random things and I didn’t think I’d have enough time before we had to leave for the airport, so I decided to run after I got home. But then her flight got delayed 2 hours, so we went out and grabbed some McDs, and sat around for awhile longer. Finally got her to the airport and got home and started my run a little after 9.

It was still hot in the workout room, and the food was not sitting well in my stomach. And I kept losing track of how long I’d been walking or running, so my pace was all over the place. I finished the full hour, but it was a bit of a slog.

Princess Half Training: Day 112

Well, I wanted to do an 8 mile run on the treadmill this afternoon, but my left knee decided that 2 miles was enough. I took a hot bath and some ibuprofen, ate dinner, and relaxed on the couch with an ice pack for a while.

Then I got back on the treadmill to finish as much of my run as I could. I got a bit further than I did earlier, and my knee didn’t hurt the way it did before, but once I started feeling it again, I decided to stop. Another hot bath, and a little more time with the ice pack.

Princess Half Training: Day 113

We spent half of today taking down the Christmas decorations upstairs, so I didn’t have a chance to get on the bike until after dinner. I decided to try going a bit longer on the bike to make up for my missed running miles from yesterday. It was difficult, but I made it 52 minutes, for a total of 13.46 miles.

I’m getting excited for my Princess Weekend dress rehearsal this week. I’ll be doing the virtual Marathon Weekend 5K and 10K, and a virtual half out of Rochester, NY called Winter Warrior, and I’m going to take this opportunity to test out my outfits. I’m glad I didn’t pick anything outrageous, since I’ll be doing the 10K and half up at the local school 😆😆

Princess Half Training: Day 114

3 rounds of yoga after work today. Now I’m off to run some errands and see Nightmare Alley.

My project for the week is to get my bibs added to my new BibFOLIO. One of my errands for tonight is picking up my printed virtual runDisney bibs. I sent them to Staples because it’s cheaper than using up all the ink in the home printer, and my grandma needed me to pick something up from a store nearby anyway.

Princess Half Training: Day 115

Just a short run today, since I’ve got a lot of mileage coming up later this week. I’m still stuck in the treadmill because the roads are still too messy. The MW virtual 5K will also be on the treadmill on Thursday, but the 10K and the Winter Warrior virtual half will be up at the school’s indoor running track. I did check, and the track is not cambered; and they also don’t require masking, which would’ve been a deal breaker since my glasses fog up if I breathe hard in a mask.

My run today was so good, even if it was on the stupid treadmill! I could have kept going, but I stuck to the schedule, which was ~30 minutes, or whatever the length of the first episode of The Book of Boba Fett ended up being.

Also, I got my tutu for my Snow White costume! It’s so floofy and I love it! It’s individual vertical strips of tulle, rather than horizontal layers and there’s still some work to do to un-squish it for the packaging. This was the last piece I needed, so Operation PW Dress Rehearsal is a go for this weekend. I do have some forearm sleeves that I can add to the Snow costume if the tulle irritates my arms.

Princess Half Training: Day 116

2 rounds of yoga tonight after a little bit of shoveling.

I switched resorts for Springtime Surprise weekend because I was able to get Coronado for only $55 more for the week than a rack rate room at Pop with the new AP discount. I stayed at CSR in 2017, and I wasn’t very happy with it because of how big it is. BUT…I’m in way better shape now than I was then, and I know how to use Touring Plans to request a specific room so I’m not on the complete opposite side of the resort from the main building (which worked pretty well for my Beach Club trip—I didn’t get the exact room I requested, but I was right around the corner from it, so same difference)

I am hyped up and ready for my Princess Weekend dress rehearsal. Good luck to everyone running MW races!!

One virtual race down, two to go!

My Snow White costume worked great, the tutu was not irritating at all. I watched episode 2 of The Book of Boba Fett, and it was just about the right length for my 5K and a short cooldown walk. I’m really glad this is the only run I have to do on the treadmill this weekend (or, as I saw someone on FB call it—the dreadmill 😆😆)

After the run, I got cleaned up and braved the frigid temps to buy myself a new Loungefly bag from Box Lunch, and I got bonus Lunch Money, giving me $30 off my purchase, instead of the expected $15. 🤑🤑

Also, the weather is looking not terrible for my 5 mile race in Minneapolis next Saturday. I’m hoping the city streets are better maintained than the ones in my rural-ish neighborhood.

Princess Half Training: Day 118

Well, the indoor track at the school is better than the treadmill because I can get a comfortable stride and the speed transitions are easier, but goodness gracious, is it boring!! I finished my 10K tonight and it took 43 (or 44, I wasn’t actually counting) trips around to do it. Tomorrow is going to be even worse. But anything is better than a treadmill, right?

I’ve got to get better about starting off so fast. I think I was just so happy to be actually moving, instead of running in place that I got overeager. Now that I’m home, clean, fed, and relaxed, it’s time to reward myself with a tiny, 3- or 4-bite ice cream sandwich.

Approximately 400 left turns later, and I finished my 3rd and final race of the weekend! I dunno how you Dopey runners can do 4 days in a row, y’all are a special and wonderful kind of crazy 😁😆🤪

OMG, if I ever have to run on that track again, I may go insane! And my luck is lousy, they alternate directions by days, except for (of course) Fridays and Saturdays, so I had to go the same direction today as I did last night, and my left knee was not thrilled with it. I did A LOT of walking in the second half of the run, including walking almost the entire last mile. But, I finished, sore, but uninjured, and I finished fast enough that I wouldn’t have been swept at Disney, and that’s all that matters to me. And Disney will be way more fun than that boring track above a gym. Oh, and my Cinderella outfit worked great, so I’m all set for costumes for Princess Weekend.
