In and Out in a Day

Marilyn - That sounds like a great weekend.....super busy and a lot of work.....but great.

I agree with PIO, Marilyn, have a great weekend!

Looks like this thead may not survive. Hopefully everyone is just busy with the holidays.

My thoughts and prayers are with those families in Connecticut.:sad1:

WFD - The old-timers may remember this.....Velvet Shrimp & pasta with a spinach salad.

Just busy here Kat.

Didn't go to my sister yesterday, too much to do. And I didn't even get all done that I needed to. I did get one batch of cookies made but ran out of vanilla so I will finish them tonight. I did put together all of the dry ingredients so all I have to do it mix and bake.

I got a lot cut out on the Cri-Cut. I am making decorations for my department at work. I have a meeting tomorrow night and am coming back to the office to put everything up, it will be a surprise.

I didn't get the quilts done but decided not to stress. They are additional gifts for my nephews so I am just going to send their other stuff and will just mail the quilts as soon as possible.

I got most of the yard done, my DM decided to "borrow" the neighbors yard :lmao: so I have a few more things to do. I told her to get together what she wants to put out there and I will finish it tonight or Wednesday. Which means she will put it out there and I have to figured out the electrical part. :thumbsup2

Went Saturday to the photo shoot. Come to find out the photographer is a 15 year old girl who wants to be a pro when she grows up. She did most of the pics and I just took some additional ones. He decided he had to do "costumes". :sad2: On top of that he was running around with no shoes on.

I'm around.....this thread isn't popping up on my subscription list so I don't drive by. But I can....

Good morning! Just popping in to say hi, and to thank everyone for the wonderful cards that I'm receiving! It's so fun to open each one, and think about the friendships that I've made here!

Things are going as well as can be expected here. Katie is thick into rehearsals for the school's next play "Heaven Can Wait", so we don't see much of her. The other kids are looking forward to tomorrow, as that is the last day of school until Jan. 3rd. I'm hoping we don't all drive each other crazy!

Good morning Ladies,

Kat ~ I so wish I was closer to you. I feel so bad that you are in a funk. Please know I am here if you need a shoulder.

Nan ~ I sure hope your presentation went good. Are you counting the days to school vacation?

Robin ~ your cinnamon rolls sound amazing. YUM!!

Merle ~ Enjoy your massage. I want one so bad, just can't find the time to schedule one.

Glynis ~ Good for you and Alan. The light is right there -oh so close. I am so proud of you for all you do for your family. And believe me it shows in what great kids you have. You are doing a great thing Lady!!

PIO ~ love your musical tree. I always had one for Stephanie, now she has it. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Becky ~ I would love to try a rack of Lamb. I love lamb but have no idea how to prepare one. Sounds amazaing!!

Life lately has had a way of getting in my way of my fun time. Sorry!! I really have missed you all.

Doug had his surgery (knee) a week ago today. He is doing ok but bored out of his mind. I was home with him all last week as he wasn't suppose to use it at all except to use the bathroom. I came back to work yesterday and good grief what a mess. He has to go back tomorrow for his post op appointment. Elizabeth is having surgery on Thursday (ruptured navel - from the pregnancies) so I am taking her and bringing her back home and then on Friday Doug is having a colonoscopy (fun fun) so I am off for that. But they both should be back to normal, and hopefully feeling much better for Christmas.

I am as ready as I will ever be for Christmas. I can't wait!! With being home last week I got alot finished. Did my last 2 batches of cookies last night.

Ethan has his school Christmas Program tonight so that should be fun. He told me on Sunday that he has a major part. He is so precious.

WFDT ~ Chicken casserole in the crockpot, glazed carrots with crusty baggete.

Make it a great day all.

Glynis - Sounds like you're busy, busy, busy. Is the play Katie is in....like the movie that Warren Beatty was in? My DS is on holiday until the end of Jan (summer break). I hope we don't kill each other either! :rotfl:

Ellen - Hope Doug's knee has a quick recovery and that his mind has something to keep it occupied. Good luck to Elizabeth and I hope her surgery goes well.

Christmas comes but once a year. I have to admit that I'm trying hard to feel really charitable towards some members of my family, and to forgive and forget; but there are some days where it really is hard. Nothing major...just that they know how to get under my skin. Sometimes, I think I need to get some sort of therapy so that I can rise above it all and not revert to the feelings of a 5 year old. Oh well.....I can keep breathing and laugh about it.

Wednesday night....dinner at mum's.

Kathy- it is getting quite around here, I hope it doesn't end. I'm always getting bumped when I try to respond and it's frustrating.

PIO- you are a bigger person than me. I'm not willing to forgive or forget, but I can be polite for a couple of hours and not let this person ruin Christmas for me. I love Christmas to much to let anyone put a damper on it.

Ellen- your week sounds a lot like mine. My dad had major surgery last week, he's doing very well and should be feeling okay by Christmas. I also had to squeeze in an unexpected funeral and a billion other random things. Thank goodness I'm done with work for a little while, I don't know how I would have fit in everything. What is a ruptured navel, do I want to know? Hope it's a quick surgery and comfortable recovery.

Glynis- the kiddos get a nice long break! Here they have to finish out the week. Have a great time with them home.

Glynis - Sounds like you're busy, busy, busy. Is the play Katie is in....like the movie that Warren Beatty was in?

Yes. She is one of the maids. She is the one who sees funny stuff going on and no one believes her. She's so excited because she's the only sophomore who made the cast, and she has a name and lines!!! Can you tell she's really excited?

Well, the excitement around here never stops (in case you can't tell, that's sarcasm!). Did I tell you guys about Alan's niece that got married in October? She married a man from Wales who she met in person once at a party. Then, they texted, skyped and facebooked for about 3 months. She was positive that she knew him well enough from that to marry him. Because of "immigration problems" he couldn't come to the US, so her entire family flew to England to have the wedding there. There were many, many problems with getting the marriage to happen (legal problems), but apparently it did... or at least she thought it did!

Long story short, she and her new "hubby" moved to Vancouver to try to work out his immigration problems. After being there for about 2 weeks, she ran to Seattle, and had her mom come "rescue" her. She is about 8 weeks pregnant, and her new husband turned out to be an abuser. The wedding was not legal, not valid, and he was using her to get a green card to get into the U.S.

What a mess! Anyway, she's back home, now, and praying that this baby does not give him a way to get into the country. Yikes!!!

After hearing about her problems, I'll take my own, any day!

Actually Robin....I'm the same. I love Christmas and really just want to enjoy it. But there are times....

Glynis - So sorry to read this and I hope your niece finds her way through it. I suspect that she already is way ahead as she has a loving and supportive family to help her. But what a mess!

Wow, what a mess indeed! I am pretty positive that the baby won't be a factor in his ability to gain entry. US citizenship would apply to people born on US soil only, not the non-US based parent. Even if they were legally married he'd still have to apply for a green card and without the wife's support of his application he won't get one.

Good luck to Katie in her performance!

PIO, don't give your annoying relatives the satisfaction of knowing that they are getting under your skin. I find that wine helps me tolerate annoying people

Ellen, rack of lamb is not hard to make. The trick is to time it very carefully. My recipe calls for an intial pan sear, followed by a roast in the oven, then a rest out of the oven, then one final brief roast in the oven before carving. It comes out perfect every time.

I am getting closer to being ready for Christmas. All of my cards are finally sent. Shopping is done and the house is decorated. I just need to wrap all of the presents now!

Ellen – You are such a good friend, just knowing you are always there for me helps so much. Xoxo Glad to hear Doug is doing ok. Hopefully Elizabeth’s procedure will be a successful one.

PIO – I am in the same boat as far as the family stuff. My stepson who lived with us and stole from us years ago is getting out of jail tomorrow and DH is so excited. I, on the other hand, have forgiven but not forgotten and the thought of having to give this person money for clothes, transportation, etc is killing me. I am having a very hard time, can’t sleep or eat. Enough of that, so sorry I went off on my rant.:sad1:

Robin – I wish I could let this go, Christmas has always been special but since Mom & Dad are gone, I’m afraid I don’t get into the spirit as much as I used to.

Glynis – So sad to hear about Alan’s niece. I will keep her in my prayers that this can all be sorted out with as little pain for her. She does have a great family surrounding her.:grouphug:

Becky – The cookies Laura made looked so pretty! Where will y’all be gathering for Christmas? Can’t wait to see pics of that spread!

I promise not to come back until I can contribute something other than crying and sob stories. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.:grouphug:

It's officially past midnight here. Merry Christmas! Thanks for sharing all the in and outs of your lives here. I've really enjoyed hanging out here.

And to the rest of you, have a wonderful Christmas Eve, and a great day tomorrow!!! I am thankful for another year of friendship with all of you!

Merry Christmas to all my friends.

When I say my blessings you all are included. I am so lucky to have you all in my life. Even though I have not "met" you, I still call you my friends. Thanks so much for your love through the year.

Kat-Feel better my friend!

PIO_ Merry Christmas! I am thrilled that I am not dealing with drama this year. I have had some for over 30 years but have finally had enough! Try to get through it.
