In and Out in a Day

In quickly and then out….(tons of stuff to do today):crazy2:

Nan – I enjoyed everything you posted on the Pan-Mass challenge. It must have been truly inspiring!

Ellen – August is a fun month for dining here in NOLA. It’s called a “Coolinary” event. Typically it’s such a slow time due to the heat and lack of conventions that they offer super deals during the entire month. Three course pre-fix menus under $35 per person at some of the best restaurants in town. We usually try and go to places we’ve never been so stay tuned!!!!

Bethany – This thread was started after many of us left the original thread for various reasons. It’s just a way for us to keep in touch in addition to facebook.

My a/c is finally fixed! Kyle is doing good, working as many hours as he can before classes start and still fitting in baseball workouts.

I’m hoping Glynis is having a wonderful time!!!!

" IN "

. They are new to the thread over the past year or so....is that the difference?

::yes::.....and they talk about....COOKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *shiver*

Nan - You have every right to be proud of your lass, Im proud of her and we have never met !!!

Kat - I love Kyle's FB profile pic of him in full " pitch "...thats right eh !?

Our football season started this weekend thank goodness, its been a strange close season.
Rangers ( our big rivals ) went into liquidation so effectively died.
The club were renamed and relegated 3 divisions.....its been SOOOOOOO FUNNY !!!!
Celtic won their first game on Sunday :cheer2: but any one who saw the pic on FB will know the highlight of my day was the hot dude sitting behind me !!
:lovestruc
Fingers crossed he has a season book...

We have a wee worry on here, my cousins wee one has come down with measles.
He was at my mums the other day while my wee nephew was there so we are anxiously waiting to see if he has passed them on.
After the shingles , measles is the last thing C would need.

Its the boys birthday at the end of the month and Im workin on a big surprise for him....exciting !!

Have a good night lassies....and " OUT "

I saw something on the news about the restaurant deals.

As long as we keep our group of friends. :grouphug: Seems like we are missing many people though.

Yay on the a/c and Kyle doing good.

:scared: Cooking?! :faint:

I am so bored of our menu. I am at a loss of ideas at this point. The doctor told me to eat gluten-free since I'm having reactions to it. Rules out a LOT of things to eat. And I don't know why it's a fad diet. I'm not losing any weight. :confused3

We've had a strange (errr, awful) off-season over here. But we won last night! Who dat! :rotfl: at your hope he has season tickets.

That's not good on the measles. Hopefully C doesn't get them, and hopefully the wee one gets well soon. :sad2:

I can't wait to hear what surprise you have up your sleeve!

Vick – “Full pitch” is right but I call him blowfish, lol! Yes ma’am I saw the hottie sitting behind you. How on earth could you focus on the game????? I’ll be praying that C doesn’t get the measles, poor kid. I can’t wait to hear what you have planned for Matty!

Hi all!!

Bethany ~ The book "Wheat Belly" was very interesting. We are not gluten intolerant so for us it has been hard. Do you know HOW much stuff has wheat in it. ALOT - almost everything. It is a great read though and it does make you really stop and think.

Kat ~ Wow!! I would give anything to have access to the wonderful meals you can have. Enjoy them!!
How is Kyle doing? My mind sure has been thinking of him. I so know what he and YOU are going through. Please know I am here for you.

Vic ~ OH NO!! :scared1: I so hope C doesn't get the measles. That is something he does not need.
Enjoy your "Football". It is almost time here - got our season tickets on Saturday. I can't wait.

Friday night, Doug and I and Lilly (Marty and Stephanie had a wedding this weekend, so we got her for the whole time) and Elizabeth and the boys went to the Fair. We ate dinner in the 4H Cafe - they have the best homemade pie. Then we walked around and looked at all of the exhibts. We had so much fun.

Saturday, Doug golfed and I played with Lilly all day.

Sunday we had Church then went out for breakfast. Marty and Stephanie showed up around 4 and stayed for supper. Oh man when they left I truly felt like they took a part of me with them. Doug and I had a great time with her this weekend. She is such a good and happy baby - and she sleeps through the night. We really missed her when she left.

And I am back to work today. But I have the weekend to look forward to. We are headed to Lincoln at noon on Friday. Matthew has only been home once this summer (when Lilly was baptized) and school starts on Monday. We are really looking forward to it. I really miss him.

Make it a great day!!

Morning girls,

Where is everyone??!!

2 more days till we head for Lincoln. Can ya tell I am excited? I have taken the afternoon off, as has Doug so we are meeting Matthew for Dinner. He and Liz have a mud run in the morning/early afternoon on Saturday, so Doug and I are going to a local winery that we have wanted to try. They are taking us out for our Birthdays that night to a new place - Cheddars. Sunday we are shopping for a new bed for him. I am sure the weekend will just fly (they always do) but we are really looking forward to being with him.

Make it a great day!!

Ellen, I hope y'all have a great time, especially at the winery!!

Looks like this thread is dying, sad to say.:sad1:

Good morning

Kat ~ Hi :wave2: Yea, I think you might be right. I really try to post each day but many times I am the only one who does. I just hate to give it up. I so love all of ya, and will really miss the friendships we have had here. I don't like the WFDT thread. I stay just cuz I hate to let it go. I feel like such a stranger there though.

Have I said it before - I HATE CHANGE!!! :rotfl2:

One more day till we head to Lincoln. I can't wait. It is cloudy and spitting rain this morning and the temp. is only in the 70's. Feels downright cold out.

Make it a great day.

I hate change too!!!

I hope you enjoy your weekend. Temp in the 70's sounds great to me, even with the rain!

You are going to have so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to say I read every day but I have been in a sort of funk lately. Buddy is in a perpetual bad mood over just about everything and I am afraid it is a bit catchy.

I understand, I really do but lately it has gotten a little difficult to distance myself from his funk, he really cannto take it to work so it is at home and I have abotu run out of patience. I don't know what to do about it either. I think a lot of unresolved anger and hurt he has to process .:worried:

I hate change too!!!

I don't like change either! You taking are of yourself?

So I think the girls are going to dinner tonight. WE created a monster with Buddy's cousin. She had never been to Olive Garden and now she cannot get enough. She is waiting to hear from her Dr to see if they can squeeze her in for a quick appt and then we'll know if we are headed out.

Not much new here. I have a messy house, I am never home lately ;) I better get down to brass tacks or this house will walk away but that can wait til tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!! Story of my Summer ;)

Nan - Its a long, bad , mad story but it turns out my cousins wee one never had measles.
He has slapped cheek syndrome.C's bloods came back clear on Monday but today is the last 21st day of exposure so we have to wait and see if he is clear.
The hospital are pretty sure he will be ok though.
Thats the good news...

C had his appointment with the psychologist on Monday and it was horrific.
He cried for 45 mins and was beside himself.
My sister was shocked at his anger but more so at his despair.
He put his happiness , on a scale of 1 to 10 , at a 2 everyday.
He hates his condition, and he hates his life.
He is 12 and he thinks his life is over, he sees no future....he is just a wee boy and he has these feelins.
Bairns should not feel like this.
It's just wrong and it breaks my heart.

The boys has had his surprise and I will share but not in a post about my wee nephews pain.

I hope youse are all well and please dont let this thread die, I need youse all.

Oh Vickie! My heart breaks for your nephew, his mother and you too. :sad1: Thank God there is therapy available to help him to process this disease he must live with. I think it would be overwhelming for an adult so I have no idea how a child can comprehend it.

When Donny was 12 he was bullied. Badly. It was so hard to separate my feelings about that from how I should be feeling about helping him. I know that I am not even on the same plane as your family in this but I can remember like it was yesterday how it was for Donny once he knew we knew what was happening.

Your sister must have been suckerpunched by the pain your C has kept to himself. Believe me that may not have been as bad as it could get but it really was the start of a healing process for your nephew. It took a lot of courage for your nephew to share those feelings he had buried. He had to have a deep level of trust in order to do that. Now that they are out in the open his therapist can channel that pain into something positive.

Donny was afraid that I would be ashamed of him and nothing was farther from the truth. The road was a bit rocky but the therapy made all of the difference in the world for him and for us. C may have thought he needed to hide his fears and hurt so he could protect his family. He is not alone in this anymore, and he had to know that in order to share his feelings.

What your family is still reeling from I see as a beginning for C. You will always feel sad about what he kept hidden, I do and the trauma my son lived with was way different than that of your C. Bullying is horrible, it is still not what C lives with daily. He trusts all of you enough so now he can go from 2 to 3 to 5 to 9. Give him some time and be there for your sister. Please let me know if I can help. I may not know about this disease and how it affects people but I do understand going through therapy with a 12 YO boy. :grouphug::grouphug:

Morning girls,

Vickie ~ Oh my goodness. What a sad situation, but one that is not hopeless. Prayers (you know me) and good thoughts are on the way. I am so glad, even though it is hard, that C is going to therapy. Hopefully through it he will eventually come to understand what is happening. Please know we are holding you all very very very close.

Nan ~ There is NOTHING worse than a grumpy DH. You know that saying "If Momma aint happy, nobody is happy" ??? Well we have always said in our house it is, "If Daddy isn't happy, nobody is"!!! Doug really does set the mood for us. Sometimes it's like the old saying - "You really do hurt the ones you love". I so understand!! But on the other hand, there comes a time when enough is enough and you have to set him straight. I let him complain and be grumpy, but when it starts to affect the rest of us, it's time to buck it up buttercup. :lmao: KWIM???

Kat ~ How are you today? We really are long lost sisters. We are so much alike. I so wish we were closer, we could and would be good friends.

Well today is the day. Doug and I are so excited to get the heck out of Dodge today and going to Lincoln to see our boy is just the icing on the cupcake. We hope to be on the road by 12:30. We are all packed and ready to go. We have to stop and wash the car (the gravel roads are hard on my baby) and drop Cooper off in Kearney with Marty, Stephanie and Lilly. We are getting Jimmy John's for the drive. We should be in Lincoln around 3:00 and we are meeting him for drinks when he gets off work and then dinner.

You all have a great weekend and I will check back "in" on Monday.

Make it a GREAT day!!!

Ellen- you sure know how to send a good :grouphug: and I thank you for that! I will put up with the Oscar for a little longer and then the only bucking Buttercup that you will see around here is me :lmao: In the meantime I am channeling all my own grumpiness into cleaning this house! I have done what shows but Holy Cow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am seeing duct bunnies the size of alpacas under and behind things!

You have a wonderful weekend, you and Doug certainly deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out for now.gotta work for a while and hen back "in" before I get back to cleaning!

Ok, everyone! I'm back, and I'm glad to see you kept this thread going! I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS THREAD DIE!!! I count on all of you to keep me going! I promise, here and now, to post every single day! Now that school is starting, I'll have a lot more time to chat and tell you all every single insignificant detail of my little life! I want the same from you!

London was amazing! A real trip of a lifetime! I'm slowly getting the pictures on facebook, and working on the trip report. I've got a lot to tell, and hopefully, it won't bore you all too much!

School starts for Jacob today. It's 7th grade day at the Middle school. They get one day without everyone else there so they can find lockers, classes, etc. He's excited/nervous about it. He's really worried about being bullied. He's awfully short for his age, and is worried about getting picked on. Alan took him out for a while on Saturday and they talked about it, but now I'm worried! I know that's my job, so I'm just trying not to let Jacob know how I'm feeling.

The girls and I with Timmy will spend the day getting everything else ready for the "real" first day of school tomorrow. A bit more shopping to do for clothes and supplies, an evening of "Back to School" nights at the high school and elementary school, and we should be set.

Alan starts school today. No rest for him! Poor guy, he's still so exhausted from the Olympics! He worked such long hours over there. His shortest day was 13 hours, and his longest was 22 hours. I don't know how he survived, but he's a trooper. I'm just hoping he doesn't fall asleep in class today!

Dinner tonight is a corned beef and cabbage noodle casserole that Jacob has been requesting. We'll have tomatoes from the garden to go along with that! yum!!! I'm also making a new dessert that sounds divine. No bake strawberry cake. It's layers of graham crackers, Cool Whip and sliced strawberries that sits in the fridge for 4 hours until the crackers soften and become cake like. I'll let you know how it is. It sounded so perfect for the end of summer!

Well, I've got to get Jacob out the door, so I'll pop back in in a little while!

Good Morning All!

Welcome Home Glynis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I followed your trip with barely concealed jealousy! Not really, I was thrilled that you got to experience this wonderful opportunity. Now back to reality for you :upsidedow I hope that the first day of school is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Busy day for me. I have ground pork coking for French meat pies to give to my friend. SHe lost her brother last week and I wanted to wait until the busy time was over to bring her dinner. I also booked all of the DR appointments I was avoiding, I need to get everything out of the way becasuse I start school the 29th with Marisa!

BBL to chat!

Good morning all,

Glynis ~ Welcome home my friend!! I can't wait to hear all about your trip.
Good luck to Jacob today and the rest tomorrow. Our schools started last week already.

Nan ~ What are you going to be studying in school. You just amaze me - way to go!!

Thanks so much for the Birthday wishes on FB. I had an awesome day/weekend.

We really didn't do anything special, but it was so good to just sit and catch up with Matthew (Liz had a wedding so it was just the 3 of us :) ). We did get a new bed for his second bedroom. Now when we go down for the Husker games we can all stay together at his apartment and not in a hotel room. He took us out for dinner on Saturday and we had a good meal, nice beverages and the conversation never lagged. We sat there for over 2 hours. Just what we all needed.

We stopped in Kearney and saw Lilly Bug before she went to bed. I was able to give her her bottle and then rock her. A perfect ending to a wonderful weekend.

Back to work today. Pastor Tess is on her way (with her DH) to France. So I have the next 2 weeks all to myself. I really don't know how I feel about that. ;)

Make it a great day!!

Vickie – I am sitting here in tears, reading about poor C. I will be praying that the therapy helps. I am also praying for his Mom and you, my friend.:sad1:

Glynis – Welcome back! I can’t wait to hear all about your trip! I followed along with some of your pics on facebook but haven’t been there much in the last few days. Good luck getting everything ready for the start of school. I don’t know how you do it all!!:worship:
