In and Out in a Day

PIO- I am so glad that the cough is not serious, just pesky. Have a nice dinner at Mums. I love that you have a weekly meal with her. My Mom had stopped cooking in her later years, but once Donny moved in with her, the pots came back out, and she made her old standby one pot or one pan meals that we grew up on. We all used to drop by just to rummage around in her fridge :goodvibesI miss her. :sad1:

Good morning, everyone! First day of school went well for everyone! Katie is thrilled with her schedule, and even though she will have more homework than ever before (thank you, AP classes!), she has worked out a schedule to get it all accomplished. Cross your fingers that she keeps it up.

Jacob was thrilled with 8th grade, as well. They are on an A/B schedule, and he found that all his "hard" classes are on A days, and his electives are on B days. He's so excited for today, as it's band day! He gets to pick up his French horn, and start work on the Symphonic band. Jazz band will start up before school next week, so he's enjoying one last week of sleeping in until 6:30.

The twins like their 6th grade class, so that is a plus! Their teacher is the same one that both Katie and Jacob had, so they feel right at home with him. They have friends in their class, but not so many that they get chatty, which is alright with me!

Timmy loved preschool! He is so proud that he can now write a Capital A. It was red day, so he wore a red shirt, and they looked for red things on a walk. He was excited.

Dinner ended up being tacos. Fast, easy, they all like them, so it was a no brainer for me. Tonight will be breakfast for dinner. Pancakes, eggs and sausage. Fresh tomatoes from the garden!!! Yummy!

Happy Hump Day - I keep picturing that camel commercial - "What day is it?"

Kat ~ Thanks so much. I am going to make them and get them in the freezer.

Janice ~ I am glad you fixed dinner. We are all here for you. I agree - Thanksgiving is way too long. I bet he will think so to. ;)

Robin ~ Thanks but I really don't feel like I accomplish that much. I do know I feel better though.

Nan ~ Quit worrying about the floors and the housework. You are working your fanny off right now. This isn't the way you live and you know it, but for right now it is alright if the floor is a mess. No one is going to care. ;)
And Lady you are anything but a slug!! You are my hero going back to school. :thumbsup2 I could NEVER do that.

Bethany ~ When is your first day of School? Bless your heart, you truly do make a difference in those kids.

PIO ~ So glad you feel you have a handle on things leading up to vacation. I hate leaving with the feeling like I should have done more. This way you can go and enjoy yourself.
Glad the cough is just being pesky and not worse. Take care.

Glynis ~ I loved the first day of school pictures. I agree with everyone else. I can't believe your kiddos are this old. I remember when the twins were born. And how did Timmy get so big?
What did you do with your quiet time yesterday? I bet it felt really weird. You will come to enjoy it. ;)

Marty and Stephanie are on their way to Branson for a much needed vacation. They are leaving Lilly at home. So as soon as I get off of work tonight I am headed to Kearney and will pick her up at Daycare. Then I will spend the night there, take her to Daycare in the morning and head for work. They will be home on Saturday late. I am so excited. One on one time with no one but me. Doug has to stay home as he is on call, so I have her all to myself. We will have so much fun!!!

I went to another new class last night and oh my did it work my fanny, legs and arms. 0 It was called Sentao. It is Zumba with a chair. You are up, down, squatting, pushups and it goes on and on. I really liked it so I hope to go back. I really felt like I got a great work out. So I will walk on Monday, Wednesday Friday (short walk 1-2 miles) and Saturday (long walk) and do Sentao on Tuesday and Zumba Toning on Thursday. Sunday will be a rest day. Sounds like a plan to me.

WFDT ~ Spaghetti and meatballs (Lilly's favorite meal) green salad and bread sticks.

Make it a great day!

Janice - I have been thinking of and praying for you, my friend. Please call if you want to chat. Do you have a visit to see him planned yet? Start planning it now and we will help you plan and count down the days!!

PIO - Glad to hear the cough isn't too serious and that your workload is manageable....looks like things are on the upswing!!

Robyn & Ellen - I think the meatballs will knock your socks off, they are THAT good!!!

Nan - Kyle is doing good! He still has two college classes to take to get his degree. That was the only downside of playing college baseball. There's always one or two professors who are not willing to be lenient with their travel schedule. He is working 50 hours a week now and is still on a probationary period. Hopefully he'll get picked up permanently because the company will pay for him to finish college.

Glynis - Glad to hear all of the kids enjoyed their first day. Good luck to all of them!

WFD - Breaded & baked pork chop casserole, smothered potatoes and corn.

Becky - Hope you enjoyed your dinner with John. Where did you go?

We went to a local seafood place and got some appetizers: tuna tataki and calamari. We were not super hungry.

Becky- Donny and Anna are still looking for a house in town. Donny needed to do a short sale on his condo, so he cannot get another mortgage for a year or so, but Anna is going to try to qualify on her own. They make me smile, he likes an open floor plan, but does not want big bedrooms. he told her that the did not wait all his life for a family to watch them all disappear into bedrooms. She wants 4 BR, and 4 baths. All I said was that I would not want to clean it! In the end, they will find one that works for both, but in the meantime :faint:!

Haha yes house hunting is quite the process. I told John that I don't want to move again for 20 years!

72 hours! That's amazing! I've been watching House Hunters lately; I've seen a few episodes in Boston. The housing market looks pretty intense. Good luck!

Thanks! It is true that inventory is low right now and houses in the sweet spot price bracket fly off the market.

Becky ~ How is the house hunting going? Found anything you like yet?

It's going! We have a couple of properties that are under serious consideration. We bid on one but I don't think the seller is going to come down to a price that we are willing to pay. John and I decided before we started looking the upper limit on how much we would be willing to pay and we are not going to budge on that number. We are finding that many homes in the category we are searching in have been on the market for quite some time and are overpriced, but also the sellers are not really motivated--they can afford to keep holding out for the price they want. C'est la vie! They won't get it from us! :thumbsup2 We are working with an agent who represents buyers exclusively so I feel comfortable that we are interpreting the home values and bidding correctly.

We'll find something eventually. If we don't find something we like for the price we want to pay before we have to be out of the current house, we are going to rent for a while and keep looking.

WFD: it's clean out the fridge night. We are heading to the Cape tomorrow evening.

Good morning. Just wanted to let you all know that everything is as ok as it can be for the moment. I know some of you expressed concern regarding my fb status yesterday. Katie is having a hard time with a teacher this year. She has him for 2 classes, and both days she has come home in tears. It's nothing major in the long run, but right now she's feeling hurt and a little mentally bruised. I'm hoping that things will get better when she's not so hormonal and PMS filled. Please send pixie dust her way!!!

Other than that, things are good!

Glynis- I was so worried! I hope that this resolves itself quickly and if not, please consider another teacher. She is a good student, and it is not always possible for a student and teacher to develop the chemistry necessary to get through the year. Marisa had one that was terrible and I regret not getting her out of that class.

Kat- I hope that Kyle gets hired!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good for him for finding a company that encourages higher education!

Ellen- all I can say is YOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on your classes! I am so glad you have your Lilybug! And that your kids are getting a well deserved vacation! Thanks for the house talk, I am not used to having a floor that gets your feet dirty and mine were that bad! :faint:

Becky- I hear you on the moving. When we decided to renovate the house, it was becasue it was either renovate or move. Buddy was onboard to move, but there was no way I was packing up again. As we progressed in the house improvements, he kept saying "Selling point" and I finally told him that the best sales incentive he was going to have if he insisted on selling was a live in cook and bottle washer for the buyer. :rotfl2: No more sales talk from him, at least in my hearing! Stay firm on your price, the house is out there.

Anna really wants to move. They saw a house yesterday that they both liked if they did not consider the upstairs. I told Donny to take time and not buy the first house that comes close but needs expensive conversions down the line. He is a little frustrated because in their home he is the one who does the vast majority of the cleaning. She wanted a house with 4 bathrooms! I cannot even pretend that I on't share my opinions, but I was "Are you kidding me?????????????? Who is going to clean them"? He said that he put his foot down and told her that his limit was two. Period......I don't envy them.

Today we go pick up my IPAD. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to get the e textbooks also they are cheaper and lighter!

Have a great day!

Hi girlies,

Kat ~ You make that Boy get those last 2 classes!! Jay was deployed with just 4 hours left and has never gotten his degree finished. He does have a good job (Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad) but I still think he needs to get his College degree. Keep on him!

Becky ~ I so agree! Stay firm on the house. Renting and stepping back for a bit might just be a good thing. Where your house sold so fast you don't need to buy that fast. Hold out for the "perfect forever" house. It is out there.

Glynis ~ I am so glad that it is somewhat better. I totally agree with Nan though. Elizabeth's 6th grade teacher was a horrible person that freely admitted that she didn't like my daughter. We got her in another class and she flourished. Not every teacher and student are expected to like each other but there better be an alternative. Go for it!

Nan ~ I am over the moon for you getting your new IPad today. It is going to be so nice with your books and schoolwork.
I totally agree with you - I have friends that once their kids leave home they build this huge home. I keep thinking - who is going to clean that thing. I am to the age that I want to downsize so I can play more and not be strapped to house cleaning. I hope Donny holds firm.

I couldn't wait to get to Kearney last night and pick that baby up. She was so glad to see me. We went home and had dinner and then went on a nice long walk stopping to smell every flower and pick up every rock. We went 2 blocks and it took us 45 minutes. :rotfl2: Bath time and bed by 8:30. Got her up and to Daycare by 7:15, so I could get to work. She didn't want to go to Diane (provider), she didn't cry, but she sure clung. Darn near said ok and brought her to work with me. :sad2: But breakfast was ready and she was hungry so food won out. I don't know how Mothers do it. I guess that is why I stayed home with mine. Man that was tough!! 4:00 p.m. can't come soon enough.

WFDT ~ Jimmy John's - I am going to stop and get them before I pick Lilly up. I am headed back to Lex. tonight as Doug took tomorrow off to watch her.

Make it a great day!!

Ellen Those darn kids really know how to pull those heart strings.:guilty:
Mr A used to cling to my leg in the morning and in the afternoon tell me to go away for a while so he can play more.

Becky Your prefect house will come along a just the right time. Hang in there.

Kat I agree encourage him to finish his degree. He doesn't want the coulda woulds shoulda's to hit him later. Later never seems to happen when you get older.

Glynis Mr A had some real awful teachers in elementary school. Luckily once he hit middle school the good teachers happened and the rest is history. I don't envy these times for you. It is so hard not to march in there and knock some heads:hug:

Well I'm starting week 2 and it getting a little better. Still miss the brat like crazy but I am getting use to the quiet. Hershey however is not having a good time. First he lost Minnie now the boy he is feeling a little off.

We are having summer heat late this year. I wish for Mr A's sake it breaks soon really soon. His Hall is not air conditioned. He said they have 4 fans going:eek:

Glynis - I hope things work out at school. Otherwise, it's going to be a long year.

Nancy - Hope the iPAD is great! And two bathrooms (per person) is plenty!! :lmao:

Ellen - I am ignoring small children, baby animals and all things furry at the moment. Hope it's going well for you.

Janice - Hope the rest of the year gets better on the Mr A front.

I'm down to 17 sleeps and 7 working days. I'm so looking forward to the holiday.
And I did go get some Ventolin at the weekend. Should have done this a lot sooner....the cough is so much better. Still there; but much better.

Good morning!

Glynis - I am so sorry I missed your post about Katie. I hope things are better, I will pray it all works out soon.

Janice - I am glad you are doing a bit better, my friend. I sure hope it cools off for Mr. A's sake. I can't imagine, being from the south, life without a/c!!!!!

PIO - Glad to hear you are doing better as well and your holiday is getting close!:cool1:

I couldn't agree more with everyone who is saying that Kyle needs to finish up those last few classes! Unfortunately I'm losing the argument with him right now. Three of his friends who did not finish college are making so much more $$ than the ones who did and many of his friends with degrees are working for minimum wage. I will keep on him anyway because he's way too close to let it go now. Hopefully once he's hired permanently they will be encouraging it as well.

WFD - Chicken pasta parmesan, corn and a salad.

Kat - I must have missed the posts.

It really depends on the degree and the individual. FWIW - I ended up finishing a second degree. I was studying part time and it was tough to keep it going as well as working a full time job. But I kept at it. When I was ready to leave the current job, the extra qualification allowed me to walk into another role for significantly more money. I know some of my other colleagues were not so lucky in finding work and they had the same piece of paper I did.
Would I have gotten the other job without the qualification? Probably; but I wouldn't have gotten that much more money! And I certainly wouldn't be where I am right now without that piece of paper.

You never know what the future holds and what qualifications will be worth in the future.

Hi all, just a quick check in to let you know I haven't forgotten about you! I've taken on a part time job to keep me busy during the winter months, but for now it is overlapping with my full time seasonal job. I'm swamped. I'm enjoying it but am very busy. Hope you are all well.

Hi everyone,

Sorry I dropped off the boards for awhile. I have just been swamped. I have read back and will try to catch up.

Janice ~ I have so been thinking of you lately. I am glad that slowly, ever so slowly you are getting along. It takes time, but I can honestly now say - I love having Matthew come home, but I am glad when he goes back home. You get used to things your way, the quiet and a clean house/bathroom.
:rotfl2:

PIO ~ Glad you are feeling better. Vacation is so close - stay healthy!!

Kat ~ You stay on him. That piece of paper could mean the difference between "just a job" and a "career". I also understand where he is coming from.
I fixed the meatball last weekend and you are right - They DID knock our socks off. Thanks!!

Robin ~ Hey sweetie. Good to see you. Your new job sounds like it will be a good fit. It might be busy now but in the winter it will be better.

 to everyone else!!

We are burning up here in Nebraska. We have been over 100 for the last 10 days. So much for us getting out of our drought. We were doing so good there for the first part of the summer. But wow, not now!!

We had a ball with Lilly over the weekend. Actually on Saturday I had her and Liam. It was Elizabeth's Saturday to work. Man oh man, 2 -1 year olds are busy. By the time Sunday night came and Lilly went home I was pooped. I now understand why we have our kids when we are young. They sure wear you out. But oh the fun we had. We really missed her when she was gone.

Doug and I went to the Nebraska State Fair on Wednesday. We had a ball. I had decided I would not worry about what I ate that day and just enjoy it all. We shared a giant hand dipped corn dog (heaven) and a bag of cotton candy. We ate at the Beef Pit, yummy prime rib sandwiches. We saw Mel Tellis. It was free concert - we had seen him 35 years ago on our honeymoon in Las Vegas. So it was fun seeing him again. His show was 2 hours long. In the birthing pavilion we saw some baby pigs be born. And we watched a baby heifer be born. So neat!! We ended the night in the beer garden. It was hot but we really had a nice day.

We are headed to Lincoln tonight as soon as we get off work. Tomorrow we start College Football. My favorite season ever!!! We play Wyoming.
"GO BIG RED"!!!!! It is a night game so hopefully it won't be too hot. It is suppose to be 102-106, so I am glad it isn't a 1:00 game.

WFDT ~ at Matthew's - he cooking!!

Make it a great day!!

Robin - I hope you're getting some down time in among that very busy work schedule of yours!

Ellen - The Nebraska State Fair sounds like something I would enjoy. Hope that it cools down for you soon!

Hey y'all!

It's been a super busy week down here! Kyle has decided he will take his last two classes next semester. He's hoping they will be offered at night so he can continue working. Thanks to all for the words of encouragement!

Robyn - I don't know how you manage two jobs! Hope you have your weekends off to rest.

Ellen - Yes, our favorite time of year is here!!!:cheer2: Who Dat! ;)

WFD - Shrimp Monica and a Caesar salad

Good morning girlies,

PIO ~ How are you feeling? Not long before vacation!

Kat ~ I am so glad that Kyle is going to take those classes. I am very proud of him. And more important will be how proud he will be of himself when he has that degree in his hand. Good job Momma!!

I hope the rest of you all had a nice weekend.

We had a great weekend. This was the first time we were all together at Matthew's new apartment. The extra bathroom and balcony were wonderful. And the pool was a lifesaver. It was HOT Hot hot!! Really not fit for man nor beast outside on Saturday. Thank goodness it was an evening game. We were in our seats by 6:15 and it was so oppressive. The temp. was 97 with a heat index of 110 with a dew point in the 80's. You could cut the humidity with a knife. We won (just barely) but it wasn't pretty. It might be a long year for us Huskers.

I fixed a Peanut butter pie that I thought you all might like. It was delicious and really easy to make.

Peanut Butter pie

1 Oreo cookie crust - or you can make your own - I was lazy

1 8oz pkg. cream cheese

1 cup peanut butter

1 8 oz. container of cool whip

Cream the cream cheese and peanut butter together till smooth. Mix in the cool whip - I did use the mixer, but on real low. You don't want to mix all the air out of the cool whip. When mixed good, put in pie crust and chill for at least one hour.

I saw this on the Pioneer Woman last weekend. My family loves peanut butter so this was a no brainer. We all loved it. But it is VERY rich. Enjoy!!

WFDT ~ Chicken salad stuffed tomatoes with a baggette.

Make it a great day.

Hi Ladies! I am getting back on track here too! It was a quiet weekend, but a weekend spent living in a swamp! Holy Humidity, rain and thunderstorms! Terrible!

We had kady Saturday and Sunday, and that was a treat! Honestly, she is hysterical, and reminds us of Marisa at that age.

I did see the wicked weather throughout the country, and it is not good. I have my girls right now, but will be back on tomorrow morning. After i brng them home I am off to class.

Nancy- I hope your classes are off to a good start. I can't believe it's that time of year already. You are so right about the humidity, it was terrible this weekend. It wasn't even terribly hot here but we were dripping trying to work in the yard.

Kathy- my second job is very part time and I can do most of it at home. Right now it's a little time consuming because its new to me. I also took the job before finding out my other job was extended until the end of October. It's busy now but I will be very happy in the winter with something to do. I hope Kyle is able to get night classes, it will feel so good to have that behind him.

Ellen- glad you had another great weekend.

PIO- I get plenty of down time, we enjoy relaxing at home so our free time isn't spent rushing around, just hanging out around home.

Hi all. Seems like we're all leading normal, busy lives. I sure hope it's filled with joy and happiness that the daily routine can bring. :goodvibes

Ellen - nice looking recipe. I'm feeling nearly normal and the cough is still lingering but much better.

Nancy - I hope it's cooling down where you are.

Robin - How long are you going to be doing the second job for? It's hard juggling jobs.

8 days to go!
