In and Out in a Day

Nancy good for Kady! That's great that she is such a good helper.

It is pouring here too. I can tell I am getting older because when it rains my joints all ache :crazy2: Today it's my knees that are bothering me.

Janice, good luck with the college move in process!

WFD: Laura and Caili are coming over for dinner. Liam's at a pizza party. I am making ribeye steak, corn on the cob, caprese salad, and Laura is making onion rings.

TGIF~~~~~ This has been the longest week.

PIO ~ Sounds like you have been busy, but a good kind of busy. I bet you had a great time with your visitor.
I hear you on the needing to lose a few pounds.

Nan ~ You brag all you want lady. That is great that Kady is doing her part. I remember when Elizabeth was her age, she roughed the beans. She would work circles around the high school boys. And she was just a little scoot (still is at 5'). A good work ethic is worth its weight in gold.
I don't like that you are so sore - please take care.

Robin ~ I have to agree - my jaw is probably the most used body part. :rotfl2: Thank goodness you can still enjoy fresh corn though. Thank for the measurements.

Janice ~ We will all be thinking of you for the next few days. Take care and know we are here for you.

Becky ~ Can I come for dinner also?? Man, oh man that sounds good. Enjoy

Doug has slept on the couch for that last 2 nights. Last night he lasted in bed till 2am. I don't know if he is getting a cold or what, but the minute he lays down he starts coughing. Poor guy.

Eugene (FIL) is taking Doug and I out to dinner tonight for our Birthdays. YEA!!! I don't have to cook. Doug is in a golf tournament all weekend and tomorrow night they are having prime rib - so again I don't have to cook. WooHoo!!!

Elizabeth is starting a new job - 2 days a month at a new salon that just opened here in town (every other Saturday). So I get to watch the boys - I can't wait!! She is so excited to be doing hair again. Even if it is for a few days. Stephanie and I talked her into keeping her license up so this will prove good for her.

WFDT ~ Eating out!!

Make it a great weekend all!

Good morning Monday!!

Hope today is a great one for all of you!!

Guess What?...............the sun is shining. Actually it was a beautiful weekend. Mild temps, low humidity and blue skies. Jay and Marty ended up golfing with Doug on Saturday so Stephanie came up and I got to play with all 3 babies. We went to the park and sat on the patio. After Elizabeth got home we grilled dinner. The boys got home around 7 and we ate on the patio. Beautiful night!!

Yesterday was Doug's Birthday so the kids took us out for lunch after Church. We watched a bit of the PGA golf game then headed to Kearney. Doug had some gift cards and cash that was burning a hole in his pocket so he wanted to shop. We went for a nice dinner at Applebees. Home by 8 and snuggled in for the night. A great weekend for sure!!

WFDT ~ French bread pizza, green salad and cantaloupe.

Make it a great day all!

Tuesday night check in.

My low-grade virus that's been sitting there all season? Full blown effect late last week and this week!
If I didn't know better, I would think it was the flu'. :sad2:

I took Friday off and knew that there would be a stack of work waiting for me today. Yup. Back to back meetings. But at least I had great pleasure in putting in my leave request for Sep/Oct. Decided on taking 5.5 weeks off in the end. Work owes me 2.5 weeks in lieu of all the extra time I've been putting in; so it really is only 3 weeks. It was a very satisfying email and the approval response was even more satisfying. I sure felt a lot better after that!

My darling DH cooked a lentil and vegie soup as well as the baked potato for dinner tonight. I thumbed my nose at the spud and had the soup instead. He sure knew what I was craving today at work!!!

PIO- 5 1/2 weeks sounds wonderful! Get better soon so you don't spend your vacation sick!

Ellen- sounds like another perfect weekend.

Today is my day "off." I have so much to do I think I'll be ready to go back to work on Thursday. Only a couple more weeks of summer vacation so we will try to squeeze in some summer fun. This is really bad, but we haven't been to the beach once this summer. I have no idea what we are doing for dinner, I'm sure it will involve chicken.

You definitely need to go to the beach!!!!!

Ellen- I am so glad that you had a lovely weekend! I have been weather watching and hope the storms will pass you by, it has not been a dry one!

So six of one and half dozen of the other! Glad you are going to get a well deserved break! Make sure that you rest before that time off, you are not over this thing you have been walking around with.

Get thee to the beach!

Well, I am still tired! We are done one field with one more to go. But......Marisa and I are going to the Apple store! :drive::drive: We went to the bookstore yesterday and $650 later, I had my books for this semester. Marisa went shopping after that, priced e-textbooks and guess what???? Most of my books are going back, and I am getting an IPAD. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She found books much cheaper so I will be saving money, and after a very fast talking chat with Bud last night, we agreed that it makes good financial sense to buy that IPAD so I can continue to save money :cheer2::cheer2: (ANd Hayday will look awesome on that screen, but I swear that had no place in my decision!)

BBL to tell you how I make out. She found a refurbished 32 gig 4th generation ???????????????? have no clue??????????????????? with a warranty for a reasonable price. I think I should convince Buddy I need more storage for another $80, but Marisa thinks I will be fine.

Morning everyone!

Pio ~ I KNEW IT!! I was so worried that you were working too hard. I am so sorry you are now sick. But 5 1/2 weeks off sounds amazing. You really deserve it. Please take care of you.

Robin ~ You need to make some time to get to the beach. I know you are busy but you need to make time for some fun also. Life is just to short. Get to the beach!!!

Nan ~ I am over the moon for you getting an IPAD. We got one for Matthew when he graduated College, and now I want one so bad. But wow are they expensive, but where you can get ebooks you can totally justify it. Good for you.
I loved the tobacco field and drying pictures on FB. Doug was totally amazed.

I just looked out my window and it looks like it is 9pm. Almost pitch black out, even the street lights are on. It is only 8:25 am and it was beautiful when I got here a bit ago. I think it's going to rain. Which is great as we mowed last night and I got my flower beds all pretty. They could use a good drink.

Dinner last night was good, fast and oh so easy. I took a loaf of French bread and cut it in half. Slathered on pizza sauce then added toppings and ended with fresh mozzarella cheese. Placed it in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes. Thought I would share as it was really good.

WFDT ~ Swiss steak, roasted potatoes and cucumber salad.

Make it a great day

Marilyn- I love fried oreos. I can only eat one, but it is so good! Fair Food! YUM!!!!!!!
Now hear this Missy! You can only do so much and that is it. You are going to wear yourself out!

I'm good, it's the eye of the storm right now, nice and quiet, and today I have my office door closed so I can work uninterrupted. About to try and upload something to our mass email system for the first time, lets see if I can do it without breaking something. :rolleyes1

Had my second set of shots yesterday and they seem to be helping, especially my left knee. For a while there I couldn't bend it when I walked because it felt like something was catching, almost like my knee cap was pinching inside my knee. That has pretty much stopped.

Hi, ladies. Remember me??? I know I dropped off the radar this summer. I wasn't planning on it, but things have been moving very quickly around here.

We had our Disneyland trip in June, and when I came home, my friend (the one who asked me to work for her part time) had stuff she needed me to help her with. I joined her expecting to write a few articles a month, but ended up basically building the web site, and I'm now working as an administrator. Right now, it's unpaid, but she's working on getting a corporate sponsor at Ancestry.com and other places. If you want to check out what I've been doing, you can go to www.familystorytelling.com and let me know what you think. I'm writing for the Table Talk section, and administrating the entire site.

I hope you'll all let me jump back in here. Not a lot of gourmet cooking has been going on, but I love reading about everything going on.

Oh, by the way, PIO - my friend's son will be coming to Melbourne in December on a mission for our church. Any advice on what a small town boy from Utah should pack?

Nancy - I've been looking at your FB and the crop. How quickly it seems to have grown!

Ellen - Thanks. I'm really stuffed up and drippy today. Should be at the tail end of it soon.

Glynis - How exciting for your friend's son. December can be hot. "Slip, slop, slap......slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat!" It's summer and the days are long. So, pack light. Is he coming with others? Feel free to give him my contact details if he wants to meet up with a local. Also maybe something smart to wear should he want a night out on the town; but he should stay clear of the 'clubs' on King Street.

Is he staying in town or in the 'burbs somewhere? There are lots of nice restaurants and plenty of great activity in town around Christmas. It'll be different for him to see how Christmas is celebrated in summer.

I'm hoping to pop in later today or tomorrow and resume posting with my favorite group of ladies.:goodvibes

Thanks for all the good wishes...I booked the Cali Grill sig dinner for F&W. Super excited!! Disney IT really screwed up the booking process this year it was a nightmare!:sad2:

Pio and Ellen- I am glad you enjoyed the pics on FB. This little tiny plant grows very fast. A few years ago I attended meetings that would exempt out type of tobacco from some of the restrictions that the cigarette and chew tobacco growers now must adhere to. Our fields are very small and scattered all around due to weather patterns here in CT. These plants are also labor intensive, hands on every step of the way, not mowed down and chopped up like burley and flue tobacco. I learned a lot about a crop that has been part of CT River valley heritage, and that my husband had been growing for years. Anyway, after we finish chopping, it will hang and cure for about 8 weeks. Buddy (and I) will be back and forth checking vents and opening and closing them to control how damp they get. No fires in the shed for Bud. Later in the season I will try to get pics of some sheds wrapped in plastic, that is crazy to see! They wrap sheds in plastic, run a steamer to dampen the leaves so that the lath can be taken down. We do not do this, but the larger farms cannot wait for a good damp if they want to get it all taken down.

Marilyn- The shots are helping? I am continuing to pray you get relief!

Glynis- Welcome home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you had to be very busy because you dropped back from FB too. I hope this project rakes off and both you and your friend see teh financial rewards as well as the professional ones! You certainly deserve it!

Kat- I have been following the booking nightmares and felt so badly for everyone trying to make their ADR's. I am so glad you and Johnny are going this year, both of you need a good get-a-way!

Elen- I have wanted an Ipad, but honestly could not justify the purchase. Marisa did figuring (Jeff calls it her voodoo math :lmao:) and the difference between the books in the bookstore and the ebooks over the next year make it worthwhile. My books this semester cost $650, so while I will not recoup all of it, I will save a great deal. I went to see what they look like on the Ipad, and I can read it comfortable. Jeff has a bluetooth keyboard/cover I can try but I think I will also buy Kady's Otterbox when she decides to get rid of it. She has been negotiating with Marisa to buy a "nicer" one, but so far, Mom says NO!!!!!!!!!!! SHe takes it to school every day, and Risa says it is to chancy to put one on that is not beefy.

Today I am suppose to run errands and clean. I may do some, but I was sick last night so I may just relax for teh better part of the day.

Nancy - Hope you feel better. And I would bank on voodoo maths anyday....especially when it justifies an iPad. Yes.....e-books will be much better than hard copies....less weight. :thumbsup2

PIO- I am not at all sure what happened. I had a wicked headache all day and then ended up dizzy. Weird!

Good morning ladies!

PIO and Nancy sorry you are not feeling great. I hope you feel better soon.

Nancy you will love your ipad. I read on mine all of the time, and love it! In addition to your coursebooks, if you have time for free reading, you can link it to your local library too, and take out ebooks on loan rather than buying them.

Welcome back Glynis!

Robin, you HAVE to go to the beach! It's right there for you! We come to Wellfleet a week from tomorrow. I am really looking forward to it (though I am not looking forward to the on-season traffic).

Kathy congrats on the California Grill reservation. I am looking forward to hearing about it.

WFD: something fast. John and I are in the middle of house hunting and have two showings scheduled for after we get off work. Maybe burgers.

Happy Hump day,

Marilyn ~ enjoy your "eye" for now, because you will be so busy soon.

Glynis ~ Welcome back my friend. I missed you.

PIO ~ I so hope you start feeling better real soon.

Kat ~ I am over the moon for you. You and Johnny really deserve this vacation. You have had quite the year!

Nan ~ I am just enthralled with the tobacco process. I never knew how the crop was harvested. Very interesting.
I am so excited for you and you IPAD. Good for you.
Feel better and please take care.

Becky ~ Your moving? New house or new town? How exciting.

We got almost 1 1/2" of rain yesterday. Complete difference from last year when we were burning up. The drought monitor will be updated tomorrow. I am anxious to see how we are doing. It has been wonderful. But I feel so sorry for the people in Colorado. How sad.

I don't know if I told you all or not but I have signed up to do my first Half Marathon. I am excited and a bit nervous. The training has been a bit slow, but where I am only 6 weeks out I have to step it up. Matthew and Stephanie are running it also - I am going to walk/run it. It should be fun and it is something I have wanted to do for awhile. So last night I went for my long walk (6 miles) and it was a perfect night. It felt so good.

WFDT ~ tacos, Spanish rice and mango salsa

Make it a great day.

Going to just jump back in! Haven't read back but did see that PIO and Nan aren't feeling well. I hope you both feel better soon!

Nan - I just got an iPad a few days ago and still trying to get used to it. I can't print from it so my IT friend is going to come figure out what is wrong.

Becky - Are y'all looking for a larger home? Good luck on the house hunting!

WFD - Whiskey BBQ glazed country ribs, scalloped potatoes and collard greens.

Hopefully I didn't miss anything major with anyone. If I did I apologize. I will try and keep up better.

Kathy- cant wait to here about food and wine!

Ellen- I know rain is good but I hope you are getting some sunshine to hold you over the winter.

Becky- the traffic shouldn't be terrible, this week should be the end of the really bad traffic- not saying it will be good though. That's one of the reasons I haven't been to the beach, it's so much more peaceful at my house. I also avoid the Orleans stop and shop at all costs, shaws is much quieter.

Nancy- my husband and I have otter boxes on our iPods and the kiddo has a griffin survivor case on her iPad. Her cover is a little heavy but other than that we are happy with both.

PIO- hope you are doing well.

Need to get going, have a great day all.
