In and Out in a Day

Ellen- your day sounds lovely! We went to the Easter Vigil, which was very very long but beautiful. There is an Interfaith Sunrise service at 6am and Buddy wants us to go next year. I really hate getting out that early:faint:, and becasue it does not replace our Mass it is going to be a long day. But he's right, we really would enjoy it.

I am sorry I have not posted much, I am trying to stay afloat and not managing well. I do think of all of you though!

Then they wanted us to stay for their special breakfast. It was a soup, similiar to pasole, but with tripe. I tried a couple of bites but couldn't do it. It had a real funny smell and texture that I just couldn't get around. Doug didn't like it either.

Was it menudo?

That's supposed to be the best hangover cure ever. I couldn't eat tripe though, even if I ate red meat in the first place. Just the way it looks is  Good for you for trying it. You are more adventurous than me!

Sorry I have been very bad about keeping up here. I keep saying I am going to do better, so I am jumping back in again. I hope you all are well.

WFD: risotto with peas, scallions, and shiitake mushrooms topped with a poached egg.

Afternoon, all! With Spring Break upon us, we don't get up and moving too early!!! It's been nice.

We are having a kind of lazy week around here. Nothing much happening, and it feels so good not to have to be anywhere for anything!

I made Chicken Cordon Bleu last night in the crock pot to use up leftover ham, and it was really good, but very salty. Not so much that we can't eat it, but you can really taste the salt! We have quite a bit of it left over, so we'll probably have that for dinner tonight, or egg salad and avocado wraps. Depends on whether or not we decide to have a picnic at the park. It's a gorgeous day and I think the kids would love that! I know Alan wants to take them fishing, too.

Had a busy weekend here. Friday afternoon my sis and the girls came up and we had lunch and went shopping. Saturday we went to a Spring Fling event at my BFF's church, I got to do my most favorite thing in the world, putting on glitter tattoos. I absolutely hate glitter! After that we all went out to dinner together. Sunday was nice and quiet and then Monday my SIL was in town with my nephews so we met up with them at a local amusement place.

It's Thursday morning and I am ignoring the call of work today. I'm going to spend this morning with DH and DS; and then take DS shopping for clothes at some stage today. YAY for a 3 day working week.

Good Morning all! It is COLD here! But I hear we are going to get some Springtime weather soon, I sure do hope so!
Marilyn- your weekends make me need a nap! LOL

Ellen- How is Addie? i am a jumble lately but I did not see an update. I hope all is okay

PIO- good for you! No work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glynis- I always am lazy when there is a school break. even when my kids were out of school, it seemed like that slow down was catchy!

Becky- I agree, menudo :scared1: not for me!

I wanted to tell you all I made a delicious pineapple sour cream pie for Easter. It was simply 1.5 pack vanilla instant pudding, 1 cup sour cream,1 large can undrained crushed pineapple and about 2/3 container cool whip, all in a graham cracker crust. I did not follow recipe exactly, but this is about right. The original recipe had reviews that said teh filling was runny so I increased the pudding by 1/2 package. I decreased the cool whip by 1/3. No milk, the pineapple is enough liquid.

Hey y'all. Just wanted to check-in and thank everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. No change in my situation here but I keep praying. I think of each of you every day, love y'all.:grouphug:

Kathy- sorry things at work are not the best. Hope things work out. My work is going through a lot of changes too and I have a feeling this is just the beginning. My 6 month job is now 3, and I'm grateful for at least the three.

Nancy- I am so sick of the cold! This weekend looks like it might be in the fifties and I can't wait!

Pio- enjoy the long weekend

Glynis- I think you have all earned a lazy week! How's the pup?

Becky- I haven't been to good about checking in either. I love risotto, it's one of my favorites. I like it with grilled chicken sausage and carmalized onions. I don't make it to often because I eat too much of it.

Ellen- that wouldn't be my first meal choice either!

Thinking of you Kathy

It's still pretty cold here too Nancy. Supposedly next week will be in the 70s. I am hoping to be able to dust off the grill!

WFD: It's Laura's birthday. John and I are taking her and the kids out to dinner.

Yep, that is exactly what it was. I have always said the Good Lord only put one thing on this earth I don't like and that is peas. Well I am adding Tripe to that list. Can't eat it - nope no way. Tried it and won't have to ever again. :lmao:

Prayers are continuing my dear friend. I wish there was more I could do. Just know we are all here for you.

Becky ~ Please tell Laura Happy Birthday for me. Enjoy your dinner together.

Glynis ~ I agree - Spring Break is suppose to be lazy. Enjoy. Has the puppy settle in better?

PIO ~ a day from work shopping with the boy sounds like fun. Good for you, you work to hard.

Robin ~ Sorry your work is being a pain. Just doesn't seem fair.

Nan ~ your pie sounds amazing. Doug's granny made the best pineapple cream pie. I need to go look for that recipe. Addie update to follow!!

Ok I have some news on Addie -

They got the results back yesterday from the biopsy they did last Tuesday. They sent it to Kansas State (they have the BEST Vet college ) and it came back NO CANCER!! But the vet here didn't like that they didn't say what it was for sure, so he is sending the xrays and biopsy somewhere else cause K State really didn't give a solid no. They really didn't know what it was. They think maybe some digenerative disease and should resolve on its own. So they are back to square one. At this point we are cautiously optimistic. She acts like nothing is wrong, which in itself is good. Because the Vet said she should be showing some side effects. The NO CANCER is what we are holding on to right now. So please keep her in your prayers. I will let you know when I know anything else. Thanks so much!!

WFDT ~ Hot beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes with gravy.

Make it a great day!

Ellen- while I agree peas are revolting, I think I'd pick them over tripe. A friends dog had a problem with her paw, after months at the vet it turned out to be a deeply embedded thorn. The good thing about my work is all of the cutbacks came from the higher ups, people I've never met so I don't need to hold a grudge against my supervisors. The sad thing is it will really affect people's summer vacations.

Happy birthday to Laura!

Hi! Trying to stay caught up even though I haven't posted much.

Been busy keeping track of what I eat and going to the gym. Doing well, but seems like I can't keep up with much else around the house...good thing the guys don't care and they actually help some with it.

Been fighting headaches lately. Not sure if it is too much salt, not enough water, or withdraw of sugar and GOOD stuff. :rotfl:

You're all in my thoughts. Sending pixiedust: your way....

WFDT: we had salad and chicken and fish enchiladas...

It's Friday night.

I'm looking forward to my normal nice long weekend and had the pleasure of rejecting a number of meetings with people for Monday. :rotfl:
And all that hard work for the last month is starting to pay off. I've succeeded in setting all the things I wanted to set up and pushed the delivery out to my team members. I'm starting to see all the items being constructed and being delivered now. :thumbsup2

WFDT? Sushi.

Becky - Happy Birthday to Laura.

Ellen - Great news about Adele. So happy for you.

Julie - Hope the headaches are gone. Take care of yourself.

Robin - Glad that you're not affected by cutbacks.

Have a great day all.

Hello all. Finished PT today. :yay: Although I can't do that yet. :rotfl: My therapist gave me a set of exercises to do on my own, now to follow through. :rolleyes1

Kat- Hang in there.

Semi quiet weekend. My godson has a lacrosse game tomorrow and I need to get some stuff done around the house, it's getting hoarderish. :sad2:

.

That's funny.

Had a productive weekend for a change. Got most of my flower beds raked out. A thorn bush cut back until our pruning cutters broke.

Today I made red chicken chili (dinner) and spicy roasted chick peas (snacks), and I also got my iron skillet and Dutch oven re-seasoned.

Yesterday I made steaks by searing them and then popped in the oven. They were good.

Oh, and I figured out some of my headaches last week were due to forgetting meds 2 days. Ugh!

Hope you all have a good week.

Good Monday morning!
Well it was a nice weekend here, and hopefully the warm weather will be on the way this week.

Julie- my DH does not care if the house is spotless either, and lately, that is a good thing. I keep it clean but if you look over your head, I have a lot of rough cut wood and while it is pretty oin my house, it is a dog to keep up!

PIO- I am glad all that hard work is paying off or you!

Becky- please pass my Happy Birthday wishes to Laura.

Kat- You are going to be okay in this! eep your head up!

Ellen- Thank goodness Addie is cancer free! The rest you all can fix!

Marilyn- congrats!

Good morning, everyone! Spring break is finally over!!! It was a really long week! Stuff I wanted to get done, didn't. Isn't that always the way??? Oh well!

We are now into the home stretch for school. Only 38 more days of school. My kids are thrilled! The only reason I'm excited is that that means Disneyland is coming up soon! However, I've got so much to do to get ready!

I hope everyone is doing well. I keep you all in my prayers! I promise.

Dinner tonight will be tuna casserole, squash and ice cream for dessert. We need some comfort food, as the weather people are predicting a large spring blizzard tomorrow. Sigh. I thought we were done with all that!

Glynis- Blizzard?!?!?!?!? Comfort food is a good thing when you need to think about snow. Don't worry about what did not get done. It will at some point.

Hello all.

Saturday ended up being busy. The lacrosse game was a memorial tournament and they played two games, one at 11 and the other at 3, they won both. In between games I went with my BFF to her church so she could sort clothes for a give away. She ended up going home because she didn't feel well and I went back to the tournament. After that I ran around getting food for the younger godson and a drink for her, dropping the drink off for her, picking up the older boy, getting him food, running him home, then running the little one to church. :faint:

Sunday was quiet.

Good morning girlies,

I am almost glad to be at work today. What a whirlwind of a weekend we had.

Thursday was our Anniversary (37 years - Yea us!!). Matthew came home for the weekend so we all met in Kearney for dinner at Applebees. We were going to just spend it at home but the kids took us out.

Friday found Matthew and I taking 7 Middle School Youth on a weekend retreat at a local Camp. There were over 270 kids there all together. What fun, but OH. MY. GOODNESS they are busy.

Saturday was Lilly's 1st birthday. Good grief where has this year gone? Matthew and I had permission to leave our kids (they were on free time from lunch to dinner) and we went to Kearney for the party. What fun we had. The kids had over 30 people there and they fixed a cream can for dinner. It was so good and we had a ball. We left for camp around 5:30. Had a bon fire and smores with wonderful campfire music and great fellowship.

Sunday we had a sunrise morning session at the cross. It was beautiful. This camp is on a hill with beautiful outlooks. Really was a nice way to wind the weekend up. We were on our way back about noon. Jay and Elizabeth and the boys took us out for lunch when we dropped the kids off. Matthew took off for Kearney as him and Marty had tee times at 2. Doug and I followed and played with Lilly all afternoon. We said good bye to Matthew around 9 and we stayed to finish watching the Country Awards.

My own bed felt really good last night. I don't even remember laying my head down. When I got up this morning Doug said, "Well which one are we going to play with today?" Wow, I wish we were going to play with the grandbabies, sounds like a lot more fun, but sadly we got ready and left for work.

We butcherd last month and it was ready over the weekend so Doug, being the helpful husband he is, got it and put it in the feezer. I love the man, but really!!!!! Yes it is in there but with no rhyme or reason what so ever. So tonight it will be organizing the freezer while he is out doing chores so I don't hurt his feelings.

Kat ~ prayers will continue.

Julie ~ It is SO good to see you. Take that medicine - no more headaches for you.

PIO ~ Glad your hard work is paying off.

Nan ~ Hang in there school will be on break real soon. You can do it. :worship:

Glynis ~ Isn't that the way time off always go. I have the best intentions but they never seem to get done. Oh well there is always tomorrow, next week, next month or you know whenenver. ;)

Marilyn ~ Fun weekend. Those that aren't planned are sometimes the best.

WFDT ~ Swiss steak, potatoes and gravy, and green beens.

Make it a great day!
