Oh I so agree...........:lmao: I am so in!!

I'm in!

Ellen- I cannot believe the weather that you are experiencing. Holy Heatwave!!!!!!!!!! I remember when Marisa went back to work. She was leaving Kady with Jeff and she only worked two miles from home but it was hard. I can imagine how hard your DD is having it, leaving your precious baby is never easy. :sad1: Thank goodness you and Doug are close-by and that her daycare lady is wonderful. Welby told me that leaving Nola was horrible but she knew that I would care for her like she was my own so that made a difference. I bet Stephanie will have some comfort knowing her caregiver will do the same.

Glynis- Dinner is rough when it is hot!

KAt- keep that boy away from the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marisa and i ran all day and started wine tonight. We started one batch and I got all the equipment cleaned and ready to sanitize so I will make some more tomorrow.

I did want to tell you all that we had a great time on Saturday. The guy we were with was not that guy inspecting my vents :confused3. Maybe his wife has a really good influence on him!

I am so glad that he wasn't "that guy". I would really like to try your wine. Darn I wish we were closer. Doug and Bud would be great friends I think and I already you and I would be.

Kat ~ You keep Kyle corraled and away from throwing. I know just how you feel.....no patience at all.

Glynis ~ I agree with dinner and the heat. It has been so hot here that when Doug gets home and chores finished he really doesn't want to eat. There have been a LOT of salads here.

As soon as I get off of work I am headed to Kearney. We are spending the night tonight as their big fireworks are tonight at the park and then I am watching Lilly on Thursday. So you all have a great 4th of July. I will see you all on Friday.

Make it a great day everyone.

Need your prayers big time! There is a large fire raging about a mile and a half from our house. So far, we are not evacuating, but the kids and I have packed up and are ready to leave at a moments notice. Please send us your prayers and good thoughts that as the sun goes down the winds don't shift and send the fire right into us. I'll try to update on FB as I can.

Here's the latest update!

Our plans have been severely changed. Those of you on FB have seen what's going on. Yesterday, around 2:00, a private construction company started a fire on the mountain behind our house (a backhoe struck a spark). That fire raced (and I mean FAST) up the mountain. It's been scary to watch. At 11:00 last night, the winds shifted, and it started to slowly move towards us. It didn't get very far, but it's still burning strong. It's 0% contained, and the tanker planes and ground fire crews are back at it this morning. We weren't evacuated, but told to be ready to leave at a moment's notice, so we all packed some clothes, comfort items, medications, and important papers. We're keeping an eye on things today. We were supposed to go to my MIL's house for a bbq this evening, but we are just going to wait and see what happens today. I really don't want to leave not knowing what's happening, you know?

So, dinner is up in the air! If we are safe and go to MIL's house, we'll have typical burgers and dogs. If we stay here, I have some oven "fried" chicken to make along with a 4th of July cake, and other treats.

Suffice it to say, we will not be participating with any fireworks tonight! We'll just watch them on tv!

Glynis, I am praying for y'all. It's so scary, I can't imagine how you must feel. Sending major prayers and love your way. Say safe, my friend.

Thanks, Kathy! Yesterday was really bizarre! I think I was in a state of shock at how close it was to us. Once I was able to think clearly, I organized us, and got us ready to evacuate. It was so hard to go through the house and think, "we need this, but this we can leave behind." Once I got all the important papers, I filled boxes with pictures, things of my moms, etc.

Today, I'm a little more relaxed. We are ready to leave, if we have to. That took a whole lot of stress off me.

The fire is still raging. It's in a terrain that's difficult for foot crews to get into, and so we are really dependent on tanker planes and choppers to drop retardant. Last night, about 11:00, we sat outside and just watched the flames. You could tell when they hit into the pine trees, as the flare just glowed brightly. Today, we can't really see our mountain because of the smoke, but I'm dreading seeing what is left behind.

Glynis, I know that feeling. When we have to evacuate it's heart wrenching deciding what to take and what to leave behind.

I will continue to pray my friend. I am going to text you to make sure I have the right number so you can keep in touch.

Kathy - I knew that my NOLA friends would understand! I have so much more empathy for what y'all went through. Although I think I have much more warning that y'all did.

Thanks for thinking of me. We are going to a local park in a couple of hours to let the kids play in the splash pad while we watch the fire. Alan will have his iPhone so hopefully we'll get some good pictures and he can post them directly to facebook. I'll keep my phone with me.

Love you so much!!!

I texted you but didn't hear back. I hope the kids enjoy their playtime. Thinking of y'all and praying. Love you!!!!!

I never got a text from you. I wonder if you've got my current cell phone number. I'll PM it to you. We're home now, and actually had a really good afternoon/evening. If it hadn't been for the fire, we would really have enjoyed ourselves. We had a ton of food, and the kids played and played.

We're settling in for the night, again, and we'll just keep an eye on things throughout the night. The fire is about 5% contained, and we're hoping things get better tomorrow!

Glynis- I am just getting online and never expected to see this. I am praying that your family does not need to evacuate and that there is not the devastation that wildfires can bring! :grouphug:

Thanks, Nancy! Things are looking up. The temperatures are much cooler today, and we have some rain! As long as the lightning doesn't spark any new fires, the crews are optimistic that they can get the fire under control.

We were looking through some pictures online, and there is one that just got to me. There is a house, untouched by the fire, that is surrounded by a ring of charred and burned earth. The ironic thing about that photo is that the house belongs to the man whose construction crew started this whole thing! Interesting, huh?

Glynis ~ How scarey!! My thought and prayers were with you and the family. It would be so hard to pick what goes and what stays. You were so lucky my friend. Now go visit Dad and have a good time.

Kat ~ How is Kyle doing?

Did you all have a good 4th of July? We did - quiet but very nice. And then I spent yesterday loving my little princess. princess: She is such a good baby. I hated leaving her last night.

We are in our 12th day of temps. over 100. But there is a cold front that is headed our way. It is only to be in the 80's tomorrow. Man it will feel good. Maybe my AC and pump can take a break. You know it is hot when you get up at 6am and the AC is running.

You all have a great weekend. I have NOTHING going on this weekend - we are throughly looking forward to it. I hope to get to the Farmer's Market after Zumba tomorrow morning.

Make it a great day!!

Ellen - Kyle is doing good! He is not throwing at all, he has another MRI or MRA next week so we'll see a little better how much damage is done. He's loving his job at the country club, it seems to be the perfect job for him! He's still seeing Sarah and talks about her all the time. I have to admit it's killing me that I haven't met her yet but I'm not going to push or rush him in any way. Glad to hear y'all are going to get some relief from the heat, enjoy it!!

Glynis - Hoping all is well on your end. No news is good news, I hope. Prayers continue!

Kyle & Johnny surprised me!!! My birthday is Monday and they reserved the hottest seats in town for dinner tomorrow night...Emeril's food bar!!! I've always wanted to do this and I'm so excited. Even though Emeril is very seldom there, sitting so close to the chefs is just going to be a dream come true for me!

Nope, I'm in! We are going to a hearing today to probate Buddy's Mom's estate. We do have an attorney to represent us. When I say "us" I mean Buddy, his brother and his sister. They all agree that they will honor his Mom's wishes without a scene........we cannot control Charlene so Lord give me strength............but they want to make sure the sister does her job. I'll be back in later to update you all but let's just say I fell off my diet wagon and broke open wine last night :faint:

I'm in

Kat ~ I am so glad that Kyle is feeling good. I think I have told you this before but he has Matthew's dream job at the Country Club. And as far as the girlfriend. Matthew dated Liz for 3 months before we met her. Hang in there your time will come and I bet you will just love her.
How was your birthday? I want you to know I was so jealous of your dinner at Emeril's. Those are some very special Boys you have.

Nan ~ I thought you were going yesterday to the Lawyer's. Oh well prayers are never to early. I so hope everything goes good. Stay strong my friend!!

I am going to copy this from another thread - because I am to lazy to retype it - sorry.

Well this is one very thankful Momma this morning. At 10:30 last night we got "the phone call NO parent ever wants". Matthew & Liz rolled her pickup. They were on a unfamiliar gravel road and missed a curve. They both had their seatbelts on - THANK GOD!!! They took Matthew by ambulance to the hospital. He hurt his head pretty bad. They did a CT scan and no fractures, or bleeders so gave him some pain medication and at 2:30 am sent him home. We were in constant contact with Liz and her Mom, the hospital and Dr. We debated on going but being 3 hrs away we stayed put. By the time we would have gotten there he was home in bed. Needless to say, this morning could have been very different. So very Blessed!! They are sore but alive.

I so hope this thread doesn't die. I have missed you all so very much and was so glad when we all got back together. I will do my very best to be here every day. Please let's keep it going.

I have checks and bills to write so for now I am out.............

I miss everyone, I guess this thread is dying.:sad2:

Naw it's naw.

I have no excuse but life.
Work is busy, the boy is busy so I am busy.
I will try to get in more....

Ellen - wow, I can't imagine how you felt gettin that call .
My heart stopped just reading your post !!
I am so so glad your boy is ok, wise boy wearing his belt.

Everything is same old same old here.
We have had rain for almost 30 days, it is killing the boy because he is on school holidays but can't get out.
Colin and I are off work next weeks but the forecast isn't great.

I'm still really struggling with the boy and high school,it makes me cry thinking about it....and I don't cry.

Hope to get back "in" later.

Things here are good! The fire is almost completely out. Just some hot spots left to deal with. The rain on the 5th did great things!!!

We are getting ready for Katie's birthday party, now. On Saturday night, she is having 15 friends over for a Beatle's inspired party. They are going to dance to Beatle's music, watch "Help" and "Yellow Submarine" and eat Sgt. Pepper-oni Pizza, Here Comes the Sun chips, Let It B L T bites, and Yellow Submarines made out of Twinkies. Drinks will be John Lemon-ade, and For the Benefit of Mr. Sprite. Can you tell she's a little Beatle's obsessed??? Alan and I bought her an acoustic guitar for her birthday, and she's over the moon with it! Funny kid!

Dinner tonight will be Bubble Up Enchiladas. We are hitting 102 today, so I may scrap the enchiladas. We'll see!
