Important Chicken Wing question. . .

In western NY, spicy deep fried chicken wings are simply called wings. In most of the rest of the US, they're called buffalo wings. The buffalo refers to the hot sauce based sauce. I do believe teriyaki and other types of sauces are near blasphemous, though garlic Parmesan is not bad.

Wings are simply called wings here. They're only Buffalo wings if they have some variant of the correct sauce. Teriyaki and other sauces aren't blasphemous. They simply are not Buffalo wings.

We have a Wingstop a few blocks away, but the mediocre reviews & limited menu have kept us from trying it. You've convinced me to give it a try this weekend to see what we think.
I like them a lot. They're not huge, but they're always crispy and never fatty(at least the ones I have been to). I get a mix of the hot and the lemon pepper.

Now I want some and there are none here :(

So what would you recommend? I guess Anchor Bar and Duff's gets the publicity.

Strangely enough, Wing Stop isn't bad for a chain.

I like either, but need them extra crispy, can't stand a soggy wing! I do like my wings either hot or BBQ.

We were surprised to find that the best wings come from the Chinese take out place a block away. 10 for $5.55. And they deliver.

I'm sorry that BWW is the best in your area! If you are ever in Orono, Maine on a Wednesday evening, stop in at the Bear Brew Pub. It's 50 cent chicken wing night. Big, juicy chicken wings, fried naked or breaded, with a choice of 8 sauces, celery and blue cheese or ranch. You can order them by 'fives' so you can mix and match. They are totally freaking amazing... as are the 32 beers on tap. You know where I am on most Wednesday evenings!

Same here. We also have an Indian place that does wings so well they will make you want to go to Buffalo Wild Wings and slap the entire staff. We also have a barbeque place that slow smokes them with a rub. No sauce needed. MMMMMMM

Yeah, I ate there back in the early 80's. I think at the time they had like 5 places in Florida all together.

There's one in Tulsa- the 'scenery' is nice, but their wings are just no where as good as they were at the original.

We do have "Wing Stops" around here and I like them better than BWW. . . but it would have meant a further drive and no Guinness on tap, soooo. . .

:drinking1

;)

"...loke a meal in a glass" ??? How many did you have?

:scared1:

Naw, just a typo.

I only had one regular sized draw while I waited for my food.

That's my limit if I'm driving- learned that lesson the hard way a long time ago. :)

Ok forgive me but I am British..I get chicken wings but Buffalo wings? Last time I checked cattle didn't have wings lol... What on Earth.

So keen on a glass of the Irish black stuff Willy? Isn't it just pure velvet. My parents came over from Ireland so we were bottle fed it... Gorgeous. but nothing compares to the glass you get in Ireland. Tastes completely different. Worth the plane ticket to Dublin alone. From Mars.

Aye!

And having a Guinness in Dublin is definitely on my 'bucket' list. :)

We plan to stop by & pick some up tomorrow night or Sunday. I'd let you know how they were, but I'd hate to add insult to injury, if you don't have a WS nearby. :p

I think their blue cheese is the best. . . no idea how they make it, but it's sharp, creamy, and garlicky goodness.

:)

Some wings, good blue cheese, rum and cokes, an encore showing of "Sharknado 2", and you'll have a wonderful evening!!

;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
You had me until you brought Sharknado into the mix. :crazy2:

Speaking of Sharknado, aren't you supposed to be on your way down here to watch with DH, so I don't have to? For a little more enticement, I'll add wings to the rum & Coke that's been waiting for you since last weekend. It may be a little watered down from the melted ice by now, but a bigger glass & more rum will fix that. :teeth:

I'll have to hitch-hike so it might take awhile, but I'm trying!!

;)

:D

The original BWW opened just off the OSU campus and was called Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck. We used to go there all the time. I moved to FL and my house was 10 mins from the original Hooters. Had many a beer there!

Ya, this is 100% useless information! :)

To get back onto topic, I'd rather try and lick the bottom of my foot than eat LC wings!

Hooter's is where we go when we want wings. We order a platter of 50 and the 4 boys go to town. They are REALLY good. We have a place here called The D-Spot that is where people go. Yum. I don't eat meat off the bone, typically, but when the mood and the beer right just right, I can throw down on some wings!!
