Impeach Bush

You really should try a new phrase...maybe you should go back to the pre-election :drinking1

I'll take it under advisement.

BuckNaked said:
Seriously though, I'm not happy with the federal response either. My choice would have been for the President to say two days ago that the local officials were obviously clueless about what to do, flood the place with federal troops, declare martial law, and do whatever was necessary to restore order and get relief to the people that need it.

Only the most "imbedded" of Bush supporters could find anything remotely resembling competence in Bush's response.

Nice to see you're not that "imbedded".

BuckNaked said:
Of course then you would have accused him of overstepping his bounds and called for his impeachment. Face it, the guy can't win with you, no matter what he does.

While you've got your crystal ball working, let me know about tomorrow's lottery numbers.

Well you people that get off on seeing dead bodies on the side of the road piss me off too! Open your eyes, man/lady, I'm not making this stuff up!

If I was in the vicinity of you I would slap you in face for that comment. HOW DARE YOU! How dare you assume that I enjoy seeing dead bodies on the side of the road. If you choose to take your sorrows and frustrations out on others that's fine, but it just goes to show how pathetic you truley are. Why not redirect those emotions towards helping the victims.

Why dont all you become president for a day. And we'll see how you handle the people who refused to evacuate and are now looting and causing chaos. You honestly have no idea what the president does or does not know. I am not pro or anti-Bush, which is where I think a lot of you are confused. I'm pro-helping the victims instead of sitting around bashing the people incharge. If you dont like whats going on, organize your own fundraisers and charity events to help the people down there.

What is the criteria for impeachment? :confused3

I bet years from now, Bush will be remembered as the worst Prres. in history! :earseek:

Contrary to popular belief -

you have to actually break the law for impeachment proceedings to begin

it seems that not knowing what impeachment is - would make it difficult for someone to intelligently call for the president's impeachment

Pretty sad when people are wasting energy bashing the President instead of focusing that strength on helping the hurricane victims.

I'm sure people are capable of both.

No, you don't. Go back and read the Federalist Papers. Alexander Hamilton believed you could impeach a president for violation of the public trust. Although, he didn't say anything about, ahem, "flute playing".

What Alexander Hamiliton believed and what the Constitution actually allows are two different things, obviously.

You are correct. Especially about Iran. Good thing Reagan came in so he could throw our support (and biological weapons) to SADDAM in his war with IRAN. That turned out real well. And yes, everything is absolutely perfect now :)

I just felt like saying it, because I'm declaring war on him. I'm writing letters and I don't care if I end up with a big fat FBI file. He is the worst ever and this is discraceful!!!! People dying of thirst in the US. Unforgivable. Oh, we can send troops to freaking Iraq, but we can't get help to fellow Americans.

Have patience, he says, while they are literally dying of thirst.

I just got alot more politically active.

I'm sorry, but this is the dumbest, most uninformed and ignorant post I've ever read on this board. Saying that no one is helping is incorrect, saying there are no troops there is wrong as well.

What is happening in New Orleans is tragic, and the response from local government has been a disgrace. But as usual, the left will spin this to attack Bush. Its just absurd.

Threatening someone on the internet must truly violate the DIS rules. If you are someone who advocates violence I refuse to debate with you. I have been on here for a long time, and I do not believe that it is acceptable to say somehting like that!

Give me a break with your sanctimonious attitude. Stop eating donuts and getting so fat on apathy!

According to the US Constitution:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

The Federal Papers are not what governs our country - the Constitution is

I have never hit anyone in my life, but I have also never been told I enjoy watching bodies rot on the side of the road. And as for eating donuts I have no idea what you mean.

And also you have no idea what I do or do not do in my life so please dont call me sanctimonious of hypocritical. I think I am done on this thread, since all you all want to do is point fingers and blame people. GROW UP!

So go ahead and define Misdemeanors. Take your time and please cite your sources.

If you have never hit anyone, or do not intend to then don't say that you would. It sounds irrational, and I can't imagine anyone advocating violence when someone doesn't share your opinion.

Medication does wonders for that type of syndrome. I have done tons of volunteer work, what have you done? :goodvibes

In all honesty, this is ridiculous. It accomplishes nothing, but if you really want to get into it...look to the local and state goverment.

The local and state government needs to be removed or replaced ....and now. The Governor of LA is positively lost. She is not the person for this job. The mayor, he is just a nightmare.

The local government should have been prepared to respond immediately. And they weren't. The Governor has the ability to call up the National Guard. She could have had thousands of troops in place....she didn't.

You all want to blame the president for everything. The Federal goverment is saving thousands of people. The state of Louisiana and the Mayor of NO are saving....none. The mayor is actually making things worse, much worse. He's making it very clear that he's not in control of anything.

While I understand that some of the footage today is incredibly upsetting, we have to keep this thing in perspective. This is a catastrophe that is unprecedented in our nation. We have two disasters that have happened simultaneously. A horrific blow to the gulf coast, and a city that is literally underwater. This is off the scale....occurring over hundreds of square miles.

On top of all of that you have a small number of thugs who have taken to the streets to loot (not food...serious looting) and have taken to shooting police officers and rescue helicopters. News organizations have hired armed protection for their reporters. That's how scary the situation is. The local government knew the situation was getting out of control and they did *nothing*.

Local authorites told the overflow people to go to that convention center...there wasn't one NO police officer there. Not one. How can that be? The Mayor is sending out SOS distress calls when he should be sending in his resignation. "Dear People of New Orleans, I'm not the guy for this job."

I believe that the Feds didn't even know about the situation over at the convention center until that footage was aired today. And tonight, the situation is already improving. Army helicopters have been in dropping off food and water....probably fearing for their own lives in the process.

I just think that knocking the president and the federal government is being short-sighted and reactionary instead of really and truly looking at the situation with a clear (and bipartisan) head....

excellent post.....

one thing that bothers me is state and local Governments are ALWAYS saying they want less Federal involvement and more local and state control, they want the freedom to do what they want with their individual states...

but then they will turn around and criticize the federal Government for not taking control...

this is a crisis of unforeseen size....people on the outside can sit and criticize all they want, but until you've been in the shoes of the people trying to deal with this it is unfair to do so.

I think people lose site of the size of the area involved, it's not just New Orleans....it is way bigger than 9-11....

Rudy did a phenomenal job of taking control, that was just one city, so it was easier to do this in reality is multiple cities, multiple states...

rather than blasting the people who are trying their best, to deal with an ever changing situation, take a positive approach, give money, go help....

whatever can be done that is positive

Aloha DIS friends! :wave2: :lovestruc

If WE are getting this upset and frustrated, just imagine what those poor people are enduring. Watching people...NEWBORNS! die right in front of them1 (a baby born last night died!)The mayor of NO just reached CNN with ANOTHER SOS...he is in the Convention Center and fearing MANY MORE deaths!

A misdemeanor involves breaking the law. Thus, the President would have to break the law (or be accused of breaking it) for impeachment proceedings to begin.

Yes, apparantly criticizing the Pres. is enough to drive some people to threaten violence. Imagine what it is like for all of those poor, hungry, sick homeless people. :guilty:

It had nothing to do with criticizing the President, it had to do with you saying that people that don't agree with you "get off" on seeing dead people.

You can try to run from that statement all you want, but they are your words and you own them.
