You people really p*** me off. Complain complain complain. You dont know everything going on and the guys probably doing the best he can. Hes not sitting there twiddling his thumbs saying yup people are thirtsy, but I have a golf game now so we'll get them water later.

And stop with the bull**** of how tough the job is. A real president (Truman) once said: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

As far as the terrible tragedies, FDR not only took over the reins at the WH during the worst crises in American history, he also presided over a world war. And did I mention, FDR had polio.

Remember what Harry Truman said "The Buck Stops Here"--he couldn't wait to be president and he has the intelligence of a flea....Yale graduate? I would be embarrased if I was Yale to say that he graduated from there....his public speaking is non existent...he hesitates...for what...the effect?

Bottom line....he is president....he has the power to make decisions...and all we hear is that he cut short his vacation...I could puke when I hear this...give me a break...there are people dying and he cut short his vacation...I guess we should call him a hero?? Only thing scarier than Bush is Cheney...if anyone even knows where he is??

Right now, my dog could run the federal government doing a better job than these clowns. I am not just blaming Bush...the LA governor and other local elected officials are not blameless....and the FEMA director said "they didn't know there was a crisis at the Convention Center...give me a break...doesn't he watch the news...all he had to do was watch MSNBC to see their heartbreaking report from there to see that there is a crisis.

The sad part is that we invaded a country that we have no business being in, our troops are being killed yet we can drop food and water to the Iraqi people so they don't go hungry but we can't feed our poor people....my dog is treated 500 times better than these people...she has food, water, a king sized bed to sleep in, toys to play with....just because people are poor, doesn't give anyone the right to treat them with anything less than dignity.

I do agree that the looters should be shot on sight and ask questions later...but a few bad apples shouldn't spoil the whole bunch...these people need help and they need it now.

Contact your senators and congressmen and governors and blitz them with emails and faxes...we cannot be silent.

I am sorry but I have to say that when Florida was hit last year by Hurricane after Hurricane after Hurricane. Jeb Bush kept his head on straight and kept this State in order. He had control of the situation and got relief as quickly as possible to the area that needed it.

Can the same be said for NO's goverment?

Apples and oranges and I know because I was ground zero for Hurricane Charley. We did not have a wall of water come through the area. Our roads were no impassable. Our area is made up primarily of private homes, not apartments.

And, btw, lest there be any misunderstanding, we're still trying to figure out where the FEMA money went to and things are not hunky-dory.

I know how you feel ...watching innocent Americans die in the streets like animals for want of water or bread (or a bus to get them out of there or a soldier to protect and defend them) is p*****me off. too!

Seriously, when things calm down a bit, get your hands on any US HISTORY textbook and read about what other American presidents have done and how they reacted to NATIONAL EMERGENCIES. Then, maybe, with more information and a better frame of reference, you can better understand why so many Americans are disappointed in THIS President's lack of leadership. IT IS NOT BECAUSE he is a 'Compassionate Conservative' (or even Neo-Con) REPUBLICAN. It is because the BUCK STOPS WITH THE PRESIDENT! EVERY PRESIDENT! And this was has FAILED in his responsibilities!

Seriously though, I'm not happy with the federal response either. My choice would have been for the President to say two days ago that the local officials were obviously clueless about what to do, flood the place with federal troops, declare martial law, and do whatever was necessary to restore order and get relief to the people that need it.

Of course then you would have accused him of overstepping his bounds and called for his impeachment. Face it, the guy can't win with you, no matter what he does.

FYI, this was in response to the ones who seem to think every other president before Bush didn't have crises. The presidents before Bush had national emergencies. They just knew how to handle them.

Let him sit there in those deplorable conditions with no food and no water - no a/c - and no communication with the outside world for 5 days.. Let him have a family member or two dying at his feet..
