I'm watching "Kate Plus Eight"....

I can also see Kate doing the talk show circuit, since they will now know it will bring out the viewers, even those who intensely dislike her. She can then rehash the show over and over, and the kids can re-live it once again.

Who thinks the next show we'll see Kate on is "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew"? I'd be willing to lay money on it. She has to do *something* to stay in front of the camera. At this point her only claim to fame is being the witchy single mother to 8 kids. I say Jon got the better end of the deal--he's not bothered with child care AND he doesn't have to get in bed with HER every day.

Here's my problem with Kate: There are plenty of other women who are raising a lot of kids with and without partners. She acts like she's the Blessed Madonna--just look what a martyr she has become. She has to do EVERYTHING and nobody else does ANYTHING. My goodness! Somebody deify this woman, quick! I have yet to witness her express any amount of pride, love, or enjoyment of ANY of her children. She just comes across as a hard (butt) and not a woman of good character. Saying the blessing before dinner does not a Christian make.

My mom raised 5 kids almost single handed and my BBF in HS was one of 14 kids of a single mom. Neither of our moms acted like Kate. We didn't have much in the way of material things and we never took a real vacation during my childhood. My BFF lived in a 2 bedroom house with the 7 sibs that were still living at home, for heaven's sake! But for all the difficulties we faced, neither of us ever doubted that our mothers loved us.

Okay, countdown to Celebrity Rehab :cool2:

I think he crossed the line and got emotionally involved with the kids and maybe with Kate. He is more of a personal assistant than security. He was on the raft with Kate and the kids and encouraged them to swim. He gives Kate advice. I think Kate replaced -divorced Jon and wanted Steve as a father figure. Jon said, he felt their was something going on between those two and Kate made it all his fault, when she was the one that called it done.
I agree that Kate has used her bodyguard as a proxy "husband" and "father-figure" for her kids to a certain degree, and I have no doubt that someone in that position for so long would naturally develop a certain attachment (particularly to the kids). But until photos exist of the two of them hanging on each other in a bar, a la Jon, (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) surfaces, I can be as critical of Kate as the next person but I don't think it's fair to start leveling accusations of an affair.

I just had an epiphany... I just realized who Kate reminds me of: Carolyn Burnham All I can think of is Annette Bening saying "I'm so proud of you... You didn't screw up once!"

I don't think so. They had that initial jump in ratings right when the divorce was announced, but then ratings quickly fell lower than ever. I don't think a 1-2 week ratings jump would be worth the amount of $$ they pay her.

Yeah, I'm sure her agent is working the phones trying to get her on any talk show possible. This is her last hurrah - her last chance to make some more $. Pretty soon, people will no longer care about her and she will become even more irrelevant than she already is.

Yes to the bolded. The rumor that she was going to be on "the Talk" ws probably planted by her agent. She *may* guest host, but she is not going to be a permanent host. They announced the new hosts today.

She so wants to continue her TV career! I've always said that I see nothing wrong with Kate on TV, so long as she stops filming and exploiting the children. I stand by that, although I can't imagine where on TV she would be successful.

I do not think that "Twist of Kate" (the spin-off show reputedly in production in 2009) will ever see the light of day. That one is dead and buried.

A cynic's view. I think that there is a strong possibility that TLC will run a couple of new specials with Kate (hopefully minus or with minimal involvement of the 8) because this last couple of episodes have been very unsubtly chucking her under the bus (or RV, if you will). The ratings are probably creeping up a tiny bit with these last shows. I'm only watching reruns, but more people are tuning back in to the first run shows.

TLC is definitely poking fun at her now after years of trying to prop up her image as Super-Mom. They have now given up that concept as impossible to maintain, are showing her unpleasantness in all its glory, and have discovered that she sells much better as "Krazy Kate." TLC may want to get their money's worth while she is still under contract, rumoured to be through February 1212. Then they will dump her. Conclusively.

Okay, countdown to Celebrity Rehab :cool2:

I agreed with everything you said, but snipped for brevity. Celebrity Rehab is a definite possibility, but she'll be trying for guest spots everywhere. Watch for her on Real Housewife shows!

Probably not on Millionaire Matchmaker -- she is always crying poor and complaining that she is broke so she wouldn't be eligible for that. If she were on that show, I'd probably tune in though! I dislike Patti Stanger almost as much as I do Kate, but that would be an awesome episode. Patti trying to coach Kate on how to catch a man. Rule #1: do not demean or try to order around a potential spouse.:happytv:

OK, I'm not a betting person, but if I were I'd put money on this one speculation. I bet that the show starring Kate that she and her agent/manager are trying to sell these days has a tentative title: "Kate's Dates." She has been throwing hints like confetti.

:rotfl::rotfl:

After the Mt. Rushmore clip, I thought that it's too bad that Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? isn't in production anymore! :lmao:

I agree with most of the other posters. Kate may pop up on a talk show over the next 6 months. Without the kids and her "friends", there is nothing interesting about her. People enjoy seeing the kids and her "dramatics". Scripted Kate would be a big snooze.

In a year or two, Kate will no longer have to worry about "reporters" following her and taking her picture. No one will care. There will be a new group of "cute kids" who are in the limelight.

Guess who's on the cover of People this week? :rolleyes1

I have been a Kate supporter this entire time but I have to tell you, this People story really turned me off. You can't expect any gravy train to last forever and a normal person must be prepared for the worst. You cant' prepare when the train has been cut off. Normal people have to deal with this everyday esp. in this economy. I wish her and the kids well, I really do. I do not want to see them suffer in any way. But reality is reality.

I was a Kate supported in the very beginning, and then to a much lesser degree after. AFter this last episode, I have no words for her. She has some real issues and I am not saying that to be mean. She needs some help. I am torn, because I would love nothing more than to see her fall on her overly made up and tanned face, but I don't want the kids to suffer too much, although at this point, I believe a little dose of reality won't hurt them either. They are turning out to be just like her, well I think Maddie may actually turn out ok. Lots of kids are learning to do without to a much greater degree. I think it may actually do the some good, and reverse all the bad that she has instilled in these kids.

Actually the ratings were way down before the divorce. Many people here thought the divorce, Jon cheating etc, may have been a ploy between them to get the ratings up. I was surprised it wasn't canceled way back then. Most cable shows don't last anywhere near as long as this one. Ratings went back up when they were going through the separation, because so many people love a trainwreck. TLC did everything they could to keep it (the divorce, the paps, etc) going, and ratings went up. Once the hoopla was over, ratings went down, but they are still considered decent for a cable show..one that is very cheap to produce.
I think it was canceled because it's done. I don't think it's how she acts, how Jon acts, or anything other than, it's time has come.

All that said, what on earth were they thinking putting those 3 woman together in such a small space with all those kids and production people? Add to that all the breakdowns and malfunctions (did they invent some of those for the reactions?) and no air at one point and I think TLC got just what they wanted.

I'm glad the show is over..if I never see Jamie or Ashley again, it will be too soon for me and I wish Kate success in whatever venture she is out for on her own.

PS for the person who said their RV toilet stunk, do you use the blue stuff and you might have to have it checked, because you should not smell it at all :) It should be well sealed.

Just curious - do you think it's Jamie and Ashley's fault that Kate acted like a shrew? Do you think it's their fault that she went white water rafting and flipped out about not wanting to get wet? Was it there fault she flipped out over the pizza? Was it there fault that she was mad that she had to get in the boat with the "pre-schoolers"? Oh wait, aren't the so called pre-schoolers her own kids????

I hope this whole fiasco knocks Kate down a peg and she stops being so self absorbed. I have a feeling she'll be wishing the "p" people were following her again.

God forbid she has to go back to being a nurse and actually do real work again like the rest of us commoners.

And you got all this from what I wrote LOL? Where did I say any of that? Did I say any of it was J and A fault? I put in a simple sentence saying I'll be happy to not see them anymore. And I will be. Their gravy train is also over.

Yeah, she'll be around for a little while longer, but she doesn't have the talent or personality to stick around long term as a host or entertainer.

I definitely see a dating show in her future. And if that doesn't work, maybe a Dr. Phil special where she says she realizes she has issues and seeks advice on how she treats people and her kids. Of course, I don't think that her intentions will be genuine. She just knows what people think about her and it would be a last-ditch effort to restart her "career" and get her back in the spotlight branded as the "new and improved" Kate that has seen the error of her ways.

If you really want to be sick, look up her twitter account. She tweeted during the last show and of course she was just edited to look like a witch.

Kate can do a reality show like The Real World or Big Brother where they put 8 in a house. It would be Kate, Gordon Ramsay, Tabitha from the Salon, Abby Miller from Lifetime's Dance Moms, Piers Morgan....all the meanest reality TV people in the world. Let them duke it out. I would watch that!!!
