I'm watching "Kate Plus Eight"....

I agree to a certain extent, but I also can see where having a large arc of people surrounding you while wielding cell phone cameras pointed at you doesn't make for good scenery for a TV program.

I get your point, but I don't think that she was all too concerned about getting good shots.

I don't know if you saw them, but in interviews she gave after the cancellation announcement, Kate stated that she more or less has been the one responsible for the episode ideas featured on the show for a while now. She said this experience should prepare her to become a TV producer herself in the future.

No, I didn't see those interviews. But I don't believe anything that comes out of her mouth. Though, I'm sure it was her idea to take yet another vacation.

Also, I noticed in the beginning of the episode when she was still at home packing that the black & white pictures of her, Jon, & the kids from years ago are still hanging on the walls....this surprised me, I would not have thought she would have wanted anything like that still displayed in her home.
I noticed the picture and it surprised me also.

I was surprised by the mud fight in the beginning, though. Shocked that she let that happen!
I thought she was going to flip out on the first one who hit her with mud. I was amazed she allowed it to touch her.

I did feel sorry for Mady and Cara when they were helping Kate pack and dragging things outside. I would of stopped and gave them a hug for helping, but she just screamed at the for not "running" while they helped her.
Another thought I agree with.

Personally, I think Maddy has matured a lot in the last few years (she used to be quite the whiny drama queen.) I think Cara has had a lot more issues from the divorce, possibly the most negatively effected.
You all are taking the words right out of my mouth.

I just couldn't get what her problem was with people taking picutres. I get celebs not wanting to be bothered when they are out with their families. But it by no means was a private family moment - she was being followed by at least 2 cameras filming them for a nationally televised show! Plus she shrieks and talks so loudly when out, that you know she wants the attention.
That's what I thought. The way she shrieks and "woo hoo's" and then doesn't want people to notice them. Really??

Let's go back to the episode the week before in Annapolis. She was getting onto a sailboat in 4 inch spike heels. I have sailed before and cannot imagine any boat owner letting those shoes on their decks.

It's hard to read without snorting out loud, but here's the interview.
I read the article. Here is a quote......

“I’m really good at producing our show because I know our lives. I know how to convey us for real,” Gosselin tells me. “I know when things translate into TV and what’s not quite as accurate as you want it to be. I’m good at it 'cause I live this life.”

She is happy that she is portraying the family accurately? I would be so embarrassed.

Let's see, the rating have been dropping since she "took over"..... hummm, will look very good on a resume!! :rotfl:

I have a challenge for everyone,

Name a body guard for any other celebrity.
I only remember seeing Brittany Spears a few times, but I don't know his name?

Before I start on the negatives of what I thought of this episode and Kate, I figured I should begin with a compliment, (sort of.) Kate is very creative, she was especially creative with how she put together the clues for the kids to figure out the destinations where they were going, the yellow banana and rock for Yellowstone Park. The picture of herself and then one of Jon with a red line through his face for Old Faithful, I couldn't resist ;) It really was just a shame that she didn't spend a few minutes actually preparing factual information about the national treasures they went to see.

I believe this trip is what finally did her in with the network and why the show was canceled. Oh well... she brought it on herself and herself alone. I feel so bad for her "best friend" and the nanny who she clearly just abused the whole time. She has ruined the kids and unfortunately in the voiceover for next week's episode Steve can be heard and it seems like he has drank the Kool Aid and agrees with the Kate perspective on things.

yeah i don't like mud or anything thrown @ me either. kate needs 2 chillax

That will be made clear next week. One of her many melt downs we have yet to get the thrill of seeing.

Thanks! It seems like that commercial is on every time I turn on the tv, and the kids and I laugh about the chair being a chair. It just might be working, though, because I may try to watch the show. We did a great trip to Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, etc. a couple of years ago, so I'm interested from that angle, too.

We stopped watching J&K+8 a couple of years ago - before the break. My oldest daughter asked me one evening, "Do you think Maddy and Cara's friends and the kids at their school watch this show?" I told her I was pretty sure some did. My girl was horrified to think of her friends and classmates seeing her eating her dinner, getting in trouble, fighting with her sister, in her pajamas. She thinks the poor kids need some privacy. Ha! Too bad Jon or Kate weren't as perceptive as a (then) 6 year old!

What? I will admit I haven't watched the episode but did she really do that? I'm sorry but she is even more of a lowlife than I thought. NEVER talk bad about the child's other parent. What a loser!!!!

Actually, the show was cancelled 2-3 weeks ago. Well before this show aired.

:):)

I'm so enjoying this thread! Thanks to all who think that Reality TV is not ever a good thing for minors.

Thanks to all who realise that legislation is needed to protect minors from exploitation from the "Kates" and TLCs out there.

The Gosselin threads have always been interesting. I tried to hang in there on posting the "this is not a good thing" perspective for a very long while.

There were some quite rabid "Kate Gosselin Fans" who bullied many sensible thinkers away from those threads.

Thanks to all of you who agree with me that Kate is (somewhat, sometimes, quite regularly, and quite dreadfully) very mentally unhealthy.

And I can say that without viewing the latest trainwreck. Apparently it was really bad.

I'm so glad to see many of you sensible thinkers back here now.
This type of TV exposure is NOT good for children. It is exploitation.

I hope that the cancellation of the show helps these children to regain their childhoods out of the public eye.

I hope that Kate can find her own career independent of the children.

On the downside, I also think that there will be "specials" and "updates" on the Gosselin Eight. I don't think Kate will ever be able to sell herself on TV without the kids.

I wish the Gosselin 8 the best. They have worked very hard to support Kate's dream lifestyle. I hope their college funds are well supported.

They have worked very hard to support Kate's dream lifestyle.

Maybe she can support herself for a while. I read this afternoon that Kate is being considered (or has already been added?) as a temporary host on the CBS version of The View, whatever it's called.

Oh gross, GAWD!

You know, that woman horrifies me. Just HORRIFIES me! I can't even ...UGH! Just awful, awful!!!

Anyone remember her lil' meltdown on that Sarah Palin's Alaska? The Palin's were being so cordial and kind to her and her family, and she was just pitching a big freaking hot-shot fit. It was digusting.

I wish she'd fall off the face of the earth. And the kids. I, as some PP's mentioned, can not WAIT for the tell-all books. :sad2:
