I'm watching "Kate Plus Eight"....

I am sure it was stressful, but her treatment of Clay was horrible. I saw another episode when she was organizing her downstairs, he kids were absolute brats to Clay. I can't figure out why she thinks that her 2 kids can sit at the table and everyone (Clay) has to find somewhere else to go, Oh yeah, her kids deserve it. That attitude is rubbing off on her kids, they are little monsters in the making. I used to think they were cute, now I can see they aren't and no wonder 2 of them got into trouble at school. Rotten attitudes. If my kids acted like hers, there would be hell to pay. My kids wouldn't be sitting at that table Clay would be and they would be outside helping me with the chores.

Also her control of how to cut or tear lettuce. She would be having to get that lettuce surgically removed if she talked to me that way. BTW< if she is such a great cook, how come she doesn't know that you aren't supposed to cut lettuce with a knife, you are supposed to tear it.
I agree, Ashley should of handled the fight in the RV, when Kara was throwing a fit, because Clay was sitting on the table. Throwing the Lego box back on the table gave power back to Kara again, and she continued with her tantrum. I did hear Ashley say to Kara, "if she wanted to go in the RV for a time out like her twin.". So maybe Ashley was having some problems with the twins, and it was getting out of control. When Kara went over to the other RV with Jaimie, Kate did admit she didn't know what the fight was about and Kate only half listened to the story, and Jamie then told her it was Kara having a problem and causing a scene, not Clay.

Jamie is her "best friend", unlike the best friend "Beth" that she wrote the book with years ago. Ashley, is the daughter of one of her former helpers. I dont remember the mom's name. I do remember seeing Ashley years ago when she was still in high school coming to "play" with the babies!

I think that was actually Cara fighting over where Clay had to sit while she played with Legos. The best was when Kate said that Jamie needed to control Clay. Poor kid, he will be traumatized for life after that trip.

Yup, it was Cara, which surprised me because she has always been the easy-going one. The part when they arrived at Mt. Rushmore and Kate was waiting for the party bus kids to hurry up because they were still using the bathroom - she just stoof there and said "somebody go get them". Weren't some of them her kids? She just stood there barking orders. Does she expect her friend to want to still be her friend after all this? Kate treats her like her servant. The nanny ended up running to collect the kids. Ugh. I feel bad for everyone involved. What a miserable time! I was surprised by the mud fight in the beginning, though. Shocked that she let that happen!

I think Kate's main problem for this trip, is #1 she took it, and #2, if she was hell bent on doing this, she should have packed Xanax. :goodvibes

NO way I would ever put myself through that.

Lack of sleep leads to bad behavior for both children and adults. No excuse for berating your children, but I think it was a HUGE factor for everyone there.

No wonder Kate has had so many "best friends".

No one is going to remain your friend when you act like their child isn't even allowed to sit at the table because Cara didn't want him there.

She has gone way above control freak to monster.

She already knew she hated camping (Alaska?) so why do it again.

The kids were so cute and sweet when they were little, but apparently
they are picking up Kate's attitute and now act like brats. Of course, you learn what you live.

I'm an sooooo glad this train wreck is coming to an end.

Can't wait to read the tell all books in about 10 years.

I totally agree. We have a big trailer for moto-cross, our sons races, and the only reason they want me along, is so I do all the cooking and cleaning. I always said, "camping is not a vacation." When we would get home, my dh would unpack the trailer and dump it all on our back deck-dirty laundry, left over food, etc., It would take us 2 days to pack up the trailer too.

I did feel sorry for Mady and Cara when they were helping Kate pack and dragging things outside. I would of stopped and gave them a hug for helping, but she just screamed at the for not "running" while they helped her.

OMG!!!! HORRIFYING BEYOND WORDS!!!

I cannot believe how out of control Kate is. I haven't watched this show in sometime, and well I am flabergasted. She is beyond horrible, and her kids, especially Maddy are showing signs of bad parenting. The whole meltdown over sitting at the table to do lego's with Clay---what did the poor kid do except want t sit at the table, and yet Maddy didn't want him there. And as far as the RV's go, you might think she was living in a shanty. She wants to be waited on, she is a prima donna and so bossy---down to telling them to wash the tomato's and she doesn't want the lettuce ripped, she wants it 'chopped'--***?!?!?!!?

Glad this train wreck is over.

It was Cara that was being a total brat about Clay at the table. Personally, I think Maddy has matured a lot in the last few years (she used to be quite the whiny drama queen.) I think Cara has had a lot more issues from the divorce, possibly the most negatively effected.

When some of the kids fight or demand things you can clearly see the "kate" in them and that is going to be bad for them later in life. I can't imagine having to go to school with these kids. I am very curious at how they will turn out and what we will see of them later in life.

I think it is sad watching the kids experience the wonders of the US without their dad sharing the experience with them.

It may be sad, but in the real world, it happens every day. I'd venture to say more kids than not, experience things like that (vacations ect.) with only 1 parent and not the other. Doesn't make it any less sad, but it's not like it's rare.

I realize that the show was edited down to an hour, but I honestly question how much they got to "experience" on the trip. It was interesting for us to watch because we did a trip West to Yellowstone and the Black Hills/Badlands areas about a month before Kate & Family & Friends (we laughed when we saw them sitting in one of the same spots we observed Old Faithful from!). I know it's a problem when they linger in a public area with TV crew in-tow that they will attract a crowd with their cell phone cameras out, but, I really got the sense that the kids didn't really get to "experience" much. It was hop out, get the shots, and then hop back in the RVs. They had no clue what a geyser was or how it worked (hint, there's a great Visitor's Center at OF that they walked past with tons of educational stuff about the Geothermal feature of the park). And the kids apparently still think it's FDR up on Mt. Rushmore!

The episode this week was a pure train wreck. I kept watching thinking "Who on Earth thought this was a good idea?" Yes, it's edited. Yes, I'm sure it wasn't a trip totally devoid of good memories, but it could have been a whole lot more fun.

When she started kibitzing about getting ready, I turned off the show. Sorry lady, I'm not willing to watch you whine, cry and be nasty to people because you have to pack clothes for your kids to take a PAID vacation. Paid twice, once by TLC to even do it and once to be filmed while doing it.

Suck it up you withered crone.

For years my oldest daughter and I would watch John and Kate...she hasn't watched it the past year or so with me...but I just said to her you would not believe how much of a Witch (ok that isnt quite the word I used) she was...I said it was so bad but like a train wreck you can't look away from...she said "HMMM maybe I will have to watch it."

Now I can't imagine traveling with that many people in that close of quarters and I would probably have been quite that witch too...BUT why did she agree to it? did the friendship survive the trip? It looks like the others may have left early? I feel bad for the kids....

Didn't watch...lost interest.

However, from reading here I have to wonder if she was so impossible before and during this trip that it could be one of the reasons they dropped the show? Maybe TLC was over her and the loss of interest also.

And...Jon can watch the show and see what he *missed*. I don't care for him at all but most dads can't watch the kids experience these trips and adventures they way he can when it airs. Can you imagine...I think someone should have taped him watching them and YouTubed it! He'd be angry and relieved at the same time, I bet.

You'd think she'd be on her best behavior during these trips so Jon would feel like he missed the experience and adventure with his kids. Instead, she makes him know why he is glad he got away and probably worries about the kids still being in it at the same time. Very rough family life all around for those kids.

My guess the reason goes no further than the #1 reason shows are cancelled: Ratings. I recall that viewership had been in a steady fall since "Kate" took the show solo.

And...Jon can watch the show and see what he *missed*
As we watched the show this week, our high-schooler said "I bet Jon is watching this somewhere right now laughing his butt off!!!" That's probably not far from the truth.

I missed the episode. Does anyone know where I can see it? With all this earthquake, hurricane, back-to-school stress, I would like to see something totally off my radar.:happytv:

I am sure they will replay it next week. It is a continuation, the fighting really gets good next Monday. I have never been a real Kate fan, (well in the beginning I was) But this woman is off her rocker. She pitched a fit because her best friend had the nerve to tear the lettuce instead of chopping it, Kate is totally losing control. If she isn't careful, she will lose those kids. Maybe that would be best.

I watched some of the show last night and I just couldn't get what her problem was with people taking picutres. I get celebs not wanting to be bothered when they are out with their families. But it by no means was a private family moment - she was being followed by at least 2 cameras filming them for a nationally televised show! Plus she shrieks and talks so loudly when out, that you know she wants the attention.

I think TLC had an idea that they would not be bringing the show back and wanted some fireworks. There is bound to be tension when any 2 families are on vacation with each other. But when 1 of those families includes Kate and you stick them all in such close quarters it is guaranteed fighting. I'm sure TLC edited it to highlight her nastiness. Since she won't be back, there's no need to show any redeeming qualities in her, so they're just trying to get the best ratings they can for these last few weeks.

I agree to a certain extent, but I also can see where having a large arc of people surrounding you while wielding cell phone cameras pointed at you doesn't make for good scenery for a TV program.

I don't know if you saw them, but in interviews she gave after the cancellation announcement, Kate stated that she more or less has been the one responsible for the episode ideas featured on the show for a while now. She said this experience should prepare her to become a TV producer herself in the future.
