HELP!! Hilton Head vs. Vero Beach in July. Which one??? Have never been to either.

There are many prior threads about pros/cons. We prefer HHI for the great biking with shaded live oaks over many trails. HHI is VERY tough to book in summer at 7 months. Lobby/main building at Vero is larger and more impressive. Beach is wider and more child friendly at HHI.

Hilton Head for the beach. Also for the variety of restaurants in the area. Over 200 within a short drive.

Vero has an onsite restaurant but the area does not compare to the offerings available on Hilton Head Island as far as dining, simple or expensive.

If you have people that like to sail, fish, kayak or go for a sunset/sunrise cruise to see dolphin, it's just across the bridge, walking distance from the resort. Plus loads of golf. Bike riding all over the island. Smaller kids, there is a little playground. Bigger kids and smaller kids, Shelter Cove Community park has an awesome new playground.

Fireworks at least during normal times with best view from the resort put on by community once a week (in summer). Music in Shelter Cove. Beautiful to walk through and shaded with live oaks and hanging moss all through the interior of the resort.

I own at both resorts and Vero is 2-3 days while HH could be 1-2 weeks.

Definitely HHI.
HHI: Better beach, way more to do within a short walk, bike, or drive, numerous restaurants also within easy walking, biking, driving distance.
VB: Beach is steps away vs. it being over a mile away at HHI. On-site restaurant (though it's just average).

If you want to simply get away and sit on the beach all day, then VB has an edge. If you want more at your finger tips--dining, activities, tours, biking--then HHI is far and away the better choice.

We love them both!!! The turtles were the best part of VB (well, that and the wonderful staff), but pp are correct and there is really nothing else out there to do around the resort. Beach is narrower with rougher sand (and rougher surf).

Did HHI in November, and heading back this Feb. I would LOVE to do a summer trip but not an owner there, so have not been able to yet :) Love the lowcountry vibe and all of the bicycle paths.

Surf was calm yesterday at Vero. The ability to see the ocean from the resort is a plus for me. When I could manage walking on sand, I loved the ocean at Vero!

I love the HHI resort as well.

Both resorts have wonderful CM who love the resort and do their best for the guests!

They are both wonderful but very different. Good luck on booking either!

Vero Beach is our favorite. I like my beach resorts to be actually on the beach so I can walk out of my room and be on the beach and see the beach from my room. You can’t do either at HH. I also didn’t like dodging the bicyclists on the beach at HH or driving/riding a shuttle to the beach. I have to drive to the beach at home, I don’t want to on vacation.

We did not like the beach at Vero. It's very narrow and steep, making it hard to walk on. The surf was not calm when we were there. Thank goodness we just stayed two nights before going to WDW or else we would have been bored out of our gourds. There is nothing there to do.

On the other hand, DHHIR is our favorite resort. We love the low-country vibe of the island--the old oak trees, the Spanish moss, the relaxed atmosphere. The beach is awesome--very wide and easy to walk on, calm surf, small tidal pools for little kids to play in. There are amazing restaurants all over the island. We love bike-riding on all the bike trails. There are lots of activities like kayaking, fishing excursions, and paddle-boarding. The best thing is the CMs at DHHIR are AMAZING!!!
