I'm torn (vacation planning).

That sounds so bad that I'd be leaving him behind but he has no desire to go to WDW... Heck, he'd enjoy hanging out and fishing more than a cruise so it's not as selfish as it sounds.

I get it. I've done some solo trips and met with friends while there because she had her fill of Disney for a while. :)

You probably know this, but if you do stay onsite, the best time to go would be late August when rates are cheaper than earlier in the summer. Less crowded too, and you can end summer on a high note before the kids head back to school.

That's what I'm aiming for.

It depends on DH's vacation bid. We know he can take time in the summer, it just depends on if the higher-ups take those last few weeks of summer or not :)

Go to Disney. Stay off site. You can go on a cruise any time. But your kids will only be 9 once and it's magical & heart warming to see the look on a kid's face when he/she goes to a Disney park for the very first time.

Go to WDW! Just stay in a budget resort and save up for a few splurges such as a character meal. I took our son a few times during lean years and I found it easier to pay for portions of the trip over time.

I understand the worry about buying a house and all of that expense but you can't get these years back.

Disney, value hotel. To Pop - make sure you have James as your bartender. Give your kids $20 in Arcade cards and go get a drink at the bar and talk to James. He is awesome, the vibe is awesome, your kids will be happy, and you get some adult time, too ;)

Yes, definitely consider Pop. The hotel is rather plain but it's clean and fun and the transportation is amazing. We intensely disliked the Allstars but Pop is great.

Took my boys when they were 9 and 11 for the first time......best trip ever; well except for the next 10 years of trips to WDW!! ;)

I was thinking Pop... The other values dont really appeal to me and I think MIL would get a kick out of it.
We stayed there just this past December and I was pretty pleased. Count on small rooms and hard beds - those were really the only negatives and those were easy to deal with. There's a good Pop thread on the Resorts forum that helped me a lot.

I think you should take the kids to WDW, stay on property, and not feel any guilt at all. You will be making memories with your kids, and that is priceless.

We took our boys several times to Disney over the years, and looking back I don't regret any of those trips. If we had waited for the "perfect" time or waited for when our finances were "perfect" we probably never would have gone, and we would have missed out on some great times.

Life is short. Live it without regrets or guilt.

True. That's what's taken so long now. I've probably priced and planned a million trips. It just never seemed right with moves/deployments/money etc.

I just need to do it. They'll love it, I know I love it.

I'm gonna be that one that says no to the Disney idea. If you're supposed to be saving for a house do that! Even doing Disney 'cheap' isn't cheap and I get the whole 'but they're young and I want them to experience it' thing, but you can make just as many memories elsewhere that are much cheaper and will put you closer to owning a home.

We own a home now lol... We just want to move.
But I certainly appreciate your input :)
