Here I am, not even forty yet and I'm not going to make it through Ashli's dating years. I'm so close to the end of my job here as the 'curfew gardian' but I'm just too tired to keep it up, lol. Do any of you other parents have this problem? I have such a hard time staying awake to make sure dd comes home on time for her curfew or making sure her bf leaves at her curfew if they spent the evening here. Thankfully Ashli is a senior this year and so I figure my job will be ending pretty soon. But in the mean time she's killing me. I wanted to go to bed at 9:00 pm tonight, I've been so tired....and I thought the lack of sleep problem would go away when she learned to sleep through the night 17 years ago...

I'm sure you're doing a great job being the guardian curfew keeper.:) Is she home yet? If she's 20 minutes late, tell her I'm gonna ground her.;)

{{hugs}}

My kids are too young to even think about their dating years.:) I feel sorry for them for having a night owl for a mom.:teeth:

I don't know that it ever ends.

My DS is home from college this weekend, and I'm waiting up for him right now. I never even think about what time he comes in when he's at school, but when he's home, I can't really fall asleep until I hear him come in.

Keli,

If I told you some of the stories I have you wouldn't sleep so easily! But when you finally did you'd wake up from nightmares all night! Rather than stress you out let me give you some advise: set the alarm! LOL! (It's tough being mom and dad at the same time!)

Well, I am 41 and I like the setting of the alarm idea! I get up so early for work that by 9-10 pm, I'm ready for lights out myself! Thank goodness this is years away! However, another 10 years and I'll probably be ready to go to bed at 7:00! Lol:D

Did she make it home on time and were you awake?;)

You look really good for almost 40!
I thought the pictures were of you this whole time!
OK duh on my part...

BTW nope not looking forward to this and I guess I am in trouble because dd is 11 now and I am 37 so 6yrs from now she will be 17 and I will be 43... younger dd is 6 and so add 11yrs...good grief 48!!! close to 50!!! I am dead meat...

...note to self, install alarm so I can go to bed when she is a teen....:p

My father used to be the one who waited up, so I really didn't miss curfew much as a kid. If I was going to miss it though, I made sure I called so they wouldn't worry. This was in the days before cell phones, but of course, there were a lot more pay phones around then too.

A lot of my friends parents' used the setting the alarm thing. They'd go to bed at their regular time and set the alarm for the curfew time. That way they'd get woken up when their kid was supposed to be home. At least you'd get a start on a good night's sleep that way!

My mother used to say "Little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems" Your fun is just beginning!!!!!!!

I know how you feel, but I just force myself to stay awake, I trust them, but I'm always afraid they are going to have a wreck or something and if they couldn't get ahold of me I'd just die!!!!

The mom of one of my good friend growing up may have the solution for you all...

When she got tired while waiting up for him to come home she would just go to sleep in his bed. Then he had to wake her up when he got home. Needless to say he was never late getting home for fear of having to wake her up after cerfew so that he could go to bed.

Experiment,

Excellent idea. I think I'll use that one. I'm 42 and DD is 16 so I think my fun is just beginning.

Thankfully Miss Ashli did make it in time for her curfew so Aunt Shannon won't have to ground her this time, lol.

I gotta say I really love the idea of going to sleep in Ashli's bed though, I can just imagine her surprise the first time she found me there!

I never thought about someone thinking the pictures in my signature would be of me, lol. I forget sometimes that you folks don't know me IRL. :D

Hmmmmmmm.......all great ideas. I'll have to file these for when my dd's are ready for curfews.

Glad dd made it home on time. She is beautiful!

I have nothing more to say than to "hang in there." This, too, shall pass one day! :D

We parents have to be survivors of the teenage years -- what other choice do we have?:) :) :)

You'll make it; we did!!!

Marie

I would set the alarm, but I am usually the one that does the transporting.
