I'm such a nerd

just arranged my first rental through David's. I'm so excited for these people I don't even know. They will love their summer stay at AKL.
That's one of the reasons I rent out my own points instead of using a broker. I get to develop a relationship with my renters.

I just rented a week at Poly for this past Dec and we looked: booking cash would have been exactly twice as expensive.

They were grateful and I got to see some pics from their trip!

This was on my mind today too. No reason we can't do it ourselves. Next time I think. We still have at least 222 to rent out.

It is nice to work with good families. I now have some that "bug me" to free up more points for them. They are lucky that I am in Canada and our dollar is so bad that after March trip, we wont be coming back for a least a year, so more points for them. If you get a good relationship its the easiest transaction around.

As someone who has rented before and plan to rent again, I am very appreciative of people like you renting out their points. I used to look at deluxes and think I would -never- get to stay there, it would always be out of my reach. But you guys make it happen for us and it is the most incredible and magical thing!!! I still have moments of bewilderment that I can decide between Poly and BWV, I mean seriously!!

Those who rent out are truly lovely and wonderful! Thank you!!

This is why we are renting. We go for two weeks beginning Monday but that will be it for a while. I'm hoping the dollar recovers somewhat, but forecasters say we won't see much relief until 2018. Glad we used those points when things were good.

For several years, I have donated points to my Church/school as a fundraiser. They used to use them as an auction item but for the past couple years, they have offered them as a raffle prize. I liked working with the winners to plan their vacation using my points. I ran into a few snags, as people have alluded to above. There were those who wanted the vacation during high point times, like spring break, which I was able to accommodate. In response to that, I changed to a fixed time that the points would be available, either during fall break for the school or before Christmas eve in December. This worked well until this year. The prize was a savannah view studio at AKV Kidani from Dec 19-23, that is, 4 nights. This was the first time that the winner wasn't a Church/school family, but was a friend of one of the teachers. I was willing to purchase the meal plan for her if she would give me the cash in advance. She apparently misunderstood and thought the meal plan had to be ordered exactly 48 hours in advance of arrival. I explained it could be added any time up until 48 hours, but, she actually waited until 8 am on Dec 18 to email me that she wanted the meal plan. I was at work. We had our vacation also Dec 19-24, and I didn't actually read her email until we got to our room late on Dec 19, and had to apologize. She also wanted to add an extra night to her reservation, starting Dec 18 instead of Dec 19. Fortunately, there were no openings at AKV for that night, because I am not sure how she would have reacted to the fact that she would have a choice of either leaving a day early or paying me for the additional night. I think I liked the auction format better because at least the people who bid on the item were at the auction. I never even met this woman.

We rented our points for my family's first trip together. As a kid, we had always stayed monorail/deluxe. We were able to rent VGF 1 bedroom and now my husband thinks there is no other way to vacation at Disney. I loved the space renting points allowed us. The owner we rented from was wonderful. I can't wait to get back.
