I'm starting to get why people are saying they don't want to come back.

So if she ordered the 42.59 plus a specialty drink that went let's say 10.00 that's 52.59! Less say 3.42 uax totaling 56.00,with 20% tip of 11.20 should come to 67.20' now she may have had two drinks which may account for the total of 75.00' ...still a lot of money for one meal!!!!

Youre good at math. That was correct & I tipped 20% because the server was nice, but I won't go again. I'm not a cheapskate, but I do understand value. I think ppl underestimate prices at Disney because prices do not include things like tips & tax, which over a whole trip can add up.

And that's why I use a dining plan - Usually 1 QS/1 TS. (I don't drink, so alcohol doesn't figure in) On a dining plan, you've already paid for everything and you can order the most expensive foods and not have to worry about price or going hungry.

I also agree with the poster on the hotels.. I've stayed at Concierge GF & AKL, Preferred POR, and ASMu. This year, I am going to ASMo. GF and AKL were beautiful, but totally not worth the price and I couldn't stand POR. Not that they ruined my vacation, just not worth it. I might do POFQ next because it's more compact.

I've realized that when I go to Disney, I just want a room - and maybe a hot tub.. but I can do with out that. I am only in the room to sleep, so why spend the extra money. I can switch from a mod/deluxe to a value and gain 1 or 2 extra vacation days easily.

Doesn't a preferred room just denote a location? The room isn't any different than a standard room is it?

Maybe yes, but there was wallpaper glue dripping on the side of the walls & as far as location, I still had a long walk. Coronado is huge, so I don't think there's much of a difference. I'm still paying for a moderate preferred & I still think POR was much nicer overall. And I had a preferred there & the walk was much better. & i liked the dining better at POR more too. Most of what I'm saying is personal taste.

You wanna talk inflated prices? I went to a concert the other night and a bottle of water cost SIX DOLLARS. I know it's only water, but when Disney charges less than the BB&T Center, I think they're doing alright.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion of the food and accommodations at WDW and the value, or not, with each. And everyone is well entitled to those opinions. For the OP, you're clearly at the point of it no longer being worthwhile for you and that's fine. Maybe a break and you'll come back and love it again, or maybe not.

For me, I think my expectations may be lower (that can be either good or bad, I guess), but I don't go to Disney expecting a world class meal or 5 star accommodations and that's fine for me. I still enjoy the restaurants, for what they are and I enjoy the resorts. I stayed at POP last year and have come to love the theming of the value resorts and really excited to try AoA this year. I don't need a fancy room, but I love the theming of the grounds. Ultimately though, it's about the parks for me and I still feel the Disney magic there and as long as that is still there, I'll continue to go back.

I did take a long break between the trips I took with my husband and the trips after our son came along. I do remember that last kid free trip with him not being very enjoyable and overly commercialized. But, when I went back with my DS, it was all good again and I hope it stays like that for he and I for the next while to come.

Tax is already included in Boma's buffet price , but tip is not.
I think all resort theme park restaurant prices are overpriced.
That being said my family loves Boma. :)

Haha I think it's funny people think Disney = 5 star dining. I know that. I live pcola and have come here more times than I can count. I moved to FL when I was 5 & have come once to twice a year ever since. I'm almost 27. I think if you haven't been ever or in a very long time, you will probably enjoy your stay.

I had appropriate expectations. I will always love Disney, but I didn't pay to stay at the ritz or motel 6. I've had cleaner rooms at All-star music.

I don't pay thousands of dollars to have low expectations. I'm more aware than most what I'm buying - I go every year & I listen to the podcasts every week.

I just spent the last moments of my trip explaining to some new ppl that the Epcot bus won't take them to MK - they assumed each bus goes to every park. I also spent 5 minutes telling them what hidden treasures to look out for at MK. They will probably have a great time.

I just think I'm done for a decade or so. Let it become fresh again. I don't know how the DIS podcast crew can stand it. I'll enjoy watching from home. Ps. Craig is hilarious.

Ya'll stop getting so feisty. I was just saying I understand where some posters are coming from. I still enjoyed some wonderful moments, but there is a LOT of overrated experiences here.

Also tons of foreigners. Glad to see them, great for us, but to me that's what flooded attendance rates.

You know I just realized I have been many times & tried a lot of new things I haven't done before - it just ended up not feeling like home because of that.

I'll take a long break & go back to my routine after this trip.

I will always love wdw world, but the crowds are crazy - & FP+ is somewhat annoying, although I don't think it's as bad as others do. Also, I felt I got a lot less for my money this time - & I got Florida discounts. I think I won't be returning for a while.

Ive been at Epcot for two hours & have ridden 1 ride - in line for Maelstrom. Then I'm eating & driving home.

I ate at Boma yesterday & although delicious, I do not think it's worth the price tag - for just me 75 which included tip. Never again. Flame tree at AK was good & in a good price range.

& i did not like Coronado Springs. The resort was pretty, but the rooms were overpriced for what you get. I liked Port Orleans more.

I've decided to wait at least a decade before returning.

I am not understanding this at all.....first the big glaring "Huh?" ....Boma....it's a buffet.....dinner is $40 for everything.....how did you tack on another $35 to make it $75 for "just me"?

I'm looking at ride apps and Malestrom is listed at being 10 minutes wait time. (This is 54 minutes after your post). The longest wait is, not surprising, Soarin at 62 minutes and Test track at 52. The rest are all well under 30 minutes....Mission Space Orange is only 20 minutes.

Hotel...I agree with others...it's all a matter of opinion.

That still doesn't mean that Disney is not seeing a lot of college students this week.

"A lot"? Really? I just don't think Disney World is a major resort destination for kids who just finished a year of college. Certainly not enough to make any impact on overall crowd levels.

Buffet, a couple of chocolate martinis, tip - I've easily been over $75 several times.

Correct if your worried about price stay off-site and bring food with you. I feel the people who enjoy TS such as myself realize there is a premium. Same can be said if you go to a local sporting event where normally $1 beer is sold for $8 or a hot dog is $4.

Yes, WDW may be expensive but they usually give you a huge portion. And I have eaten at some very good TS places.

Sure it is. Most families wait until their child(ren) are done for the year or semester before going on vacation. That's why you see a major uptick in crowds starting mid-June. If a family has children only in college and those colleges let out this early, you're going to see an uptick in people now though not as severely as summer/peak season.

I agree that Boma is overpriced. My family enjoys the food, but $35 or $40 pp for a non-character meal is too much for what is served and the amount we eat. When we were there in September I felt a bit sick paying the bill: $140 or so with tip for two adults and a just-turned-11 year-old. I'd only go back if we stayed onsite and got "free" dining. Too many WDW buffets leave me feeling like this now.

We find that if we want to do a buffet, a character breakfast like 1900 Park Fare is perfect. The food may not be quite as interesting but it's still good, the price is lower, and we get to meet some characters as well.

Taking a break is probably a good idea. We aren't going at all this year so I understand the feeling.
