I'm sorry to ask..but I need your prayers again

Back home. Long day..waiting is awful. Only now...morning will come very quickly. Surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am. Our pastor came to the hospital to see Bob today. While he knew that our church family was praying for him. He was surprised to see the pastor....but pleasantly.
At this point he's nervous, but he's also in enough discomfort to want to just get in there and get the job done. I will keep you posted..as to how he's doing. Again.."thank you" seems so inadequate. I feel as if I've got the entire country covered, by asking you guys to pray for him.

You have a good Pastor! That's what he/she should do. After the surgery's over, call and let your Pastor know the outcome. I'll be saying special prayers at 7:30. Hold on to your sanity, Phyl!!

It's "go time". The surgical waiting room has computer and internet. Thought I'd check in here. I was surprised to see that you guys were up early and posting already...prayer is a powerful thing. I don't imagine we will hear much for at least four hours. Although the surgeon said if there are problems I'll hear that too. These are scary times. Had a good cry last night when I was alone, but I am strong. I know as old as my kids are..they still take their cue from mom. I have people all over this country praying for Bob. Today I will draw strength from that..and turn to God.
I will keep you posted, and thank you for starting your day, with thoughts and prayers for my husband.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.....we are sisters in Christ and we hold eachother up, especially during these times. I am sure that I, along with many people on here, will be checking throughout the day....so post as often as you need to. Peace be with you and your family right now.....

Phyllis, I am keeping you and Bob with me today. I am Praying to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit! I am lifting him up for healing and lifting you up for peace. I pray that you will be warmed by love today and you will rest easy tonight.

Oh, btw.....when this is all done and Bob is home. MAKE him rest this time! No mowing or working on cars or whatever else he feels needs to be done! I'd hate for him to pull something!

You will be in my thoughts today, I know what is like to wait in the Hospital waiting room with my DH in the OR. Try to keep calm it will be over soon and if he is like my DH when they drug him up, he is really funny, I just always feel sorry for the other person in his room, becuase he can get crude on drugs.

I'm praying for Bob and you. And sending you lots of . Gatordad decided it will be fine. I'm with him! :goodvibes

Just checking in for a progress report. Been keeping Bob in my thoughts and prayers all day.:thumbsup2

Same here ~ just checking in to hear that Bob made it through the surgery and everything is and will be fine. (Pete said so).

Thoughts and prayers with you Phyllis, hope to hear good news soon.

Same here. I would have lit a candle today, but they frown on fire at the office. :rolleyes1 I'll light one when I get home. Hopefully by then it will be official that Bob came through surgery with flying colors and is resting comfortably in his room. Then Phyllis can go get a martini and take a deep breath. ;)

First round's on me!

Saw Bob this evening. I have to say..he looks much more comfortable and he also has a pump for pain that he controls. The anesthesiologist that was in on the actual surgery was in the PACU and managing his pain. Came to his bedside told us he knows what the situation is. There was confusion in recovery as to why he had pain on the opposite side of his chest from where they operated. He told Bob nothing is going to take away the pain entirely, but he should be able to make him comfortable enough. That's all we ask. So..it looks as if everyone is on the same page as far as what was done and why the other side of his chest would be in need of pain management as well. A nursing supervisor took me aside and apologized for not getting us in earlier to see him. I don't really care about that as much as his being in discomfort in an area they didn't figure on.. and them not having a handle on why that would be. I know they would have figured it out..they had a call into his surgeon, and were ordering chest x-rays. Only he was in terrible pain, while it got worked out, and it could have been avoided. I'm glad I got in there when I did, and told them what the surgeon had told us..it got the ball rolling. Let's just say, I wasn't a happy camper when the nurse told me to come back at 7:30 tonight..after having waited since 7:00 in the morning! I DON"T THINK SO.
Sorry about freaking a bit earlier today. Poor Debbie..got that phone call.
I was starting to feel that things were falling apart. So..after I called the surgeon. I was hitting the rest of the buttons in my phone calling those who I know pray, and asking them to start sending up extra's. Deb was first on the list. She know's how to get things movin'!
His surgery was as difficult and extensive as they thought it would be. The mesh from the laproscopic procedure that he had last year was everywhere in his chest cavity. They had to clean up all of that in addition to putting his stomach where a stomach is supposed to be. They said his stomach is now smaller. He won't be able to eat as much as he did before. (oh great...I wanted to get him home and fatten him up!:rolleyes1)
He will be in this PACU area for the night..and God willing, he does well and will be moved to a step down type unit...possibly tomorrow. I won't know until after 8 am tomorrow morning after his doctors come in and evaluate the situation.
So..he got through the surgery fine..and his pain is now under control.
I don't have to beat up any doctors..and the nurses think I'm a PITA.
Life is good.

I'm glad he came through the surgery and has his pain under control! Keep us updated as often as you can. I will keep you and Bob in my prayers.
