I'm so very very done with Toys R Us.

The lego prices at TRU are crazy. Here is an example for you. The Star Wars advent calendar lego set was 39.99 at the lego store and at Target. TRU had it for 49.99. We were at the lego store the day after Christmas and they had it marked 50% off, so 19.99. About 2 weeks ago I was at TRU, looking for something I couldn't find elsewhere. And they had the advent set on sale, for get this 39.99, the original cost.

We are getting a lego store in our town in March, I can't wait.

Also our problem with Santa was that the lego set my son wanted ended up with the wrong number one bag in it. We couldn't believe. I returned it to TRU where I bought it, and of course they didn't have one. Fortunately we were on an hour from a lego store, since we were at my Mom's and they had one, so I bought it and just returned the one to TRU. But get this, since my receipt was over 90 days old, they could only give me store credit and then I didn't even get the full price for the set. I got like 20 bucks less, because there had been a sale recently, probably a buy one get one 50% off. Made me so upset.

With all that though, we do still go there. But I know my prices and will only buy things on sale or clearance from now on. And we don't go nearly as much as we use to.

Well, clearly not in Ginny's experience or mine either. shopped almost exclusively online this year and everything came in brown boxes. My MIL ordered a Keurig off of Amazon and it came with the original box inside a box that was practially the exact same size. The one thing from Amazon that was obvious were the Kindles. While the box is brown it says right there in big bold print what's inside. My SIL ordered a bike online from Target and had it shipped to MIL's house because she was afraid the box would be exposed and it to came in a brown outer carton.

I find that Amazon ships a lot of "larger" items in their original boxes. I order nearly everything from Amazon (my DH works for them so we get a small discount) and I frequently receive large items in their original boxes. This includes cases of non-perishable food or home items (like cereal, diapers, etc.), large baby items (strollers, car seats, high chairs, etc.), and I even got a sewing machine in its original box a few weeks ago, and it wasn't even that big.

I like that it creates less waste, but it is annoying to come home to find a $400 stroller in its original box left on the front porch in plain view....
