and leaving in 3 days- the cold started on Saturday so hopefully it'll be all better by the time we leave on Friday morning- any suggestions?

I was very sick a couple of days before my last trip a couple of weeks ago. I went to the dr and found that I had a severe sinus/adenoid infection. After a couple of days on antibiotics, I felt much better and was able to have fun on vacation. You might want to see your dr. now while you're at home instead of having to see someone once you get to WDW. You've already been sick for three days, so you very well may have an infection.

In the meantime, get lots of rest and drink, drink, drink! Sudafed usually will help to an extent. Get well soon!!!!! :wizard:

I always seem to catch a cold a few days before I am scheduled to go away. (But I am always in the best of health for the rest of the year :confused3 ). Anyway... go to the pharamacy and buy Cold-Eeze and Airborne. They work great. Airborne is something fairly new...you drop the tablet in a glass of water and it fizzes like Alkaseltzer. You can get orange flavored. It doesn't taste all that great, but 2 days later I was feeling back to my normal self. Have a great vacation!!! Sending some good vibes your way!!! :goodvibes

I would maybe check it out with the doctor, make sure no infections that require antibiotics....If it is just an ordinary cold, take some meds with me like Dimetapp, cold medicine and maybe some cough medicine........I hope it passes and you are in good health for WDW.

I was so worried that my kids would get sick right before our trip in July that I didn't let them go over their cousin's house to play that weekend before just in case they might catch something. Well, 3 days into our trip, my DD4 came down with a little stomach bug. Thank goodness it only lasted half a day and by next morning (our character breakfast) she was fine. But, on the morning of our departure day, my DD8 and I both felt queasy in the morning and on the 20-hour drive home to NJ, my DD7 ended up with the stomach bug and actually got sick in the car somewhere in South Carolina at 3:00am. Anyway, my point is, that despite being sick, we still had a wonderful time! So, don't worry too much about it - being sick in WDW is still better than not being sick at home!

zicam works really good and it actually shortens your cold.
Plus zinc works good too, I took that (I have a cold) and it really helps you to feel better.

I always seem to get sick just before my trip! If I had a dollar for every time I've told a doctor "But I can't be sick! I leave in 19 days!"

I found some great tea recently called Breathe Easy that seems to help a lot. It cleans the mucous (eww!) out of your system. Plus hot tea just makes you feel better!

I'll second the Cold-Eze, or other brands of zinc lozenges. Although it works best if you start taking them when you get the first cold symptoms, it ought to start helping now, too.

I also have luck with drinking tons and tons of orange juice (but you're not supposed to drink it within a half hour or so of taking a Cold-Eze lozenge).

Good luck, hope you feel better soon!

Aww...I'm so sorry to hear that! Just think positivie, and I am sure you will get better soon!

I'm sorry to hear that you're sick. Hopefully you'll be better in time for your Disney vacation. :teeth:

Go to any drugstore and buy Emergen-C. It is a powder with 1000mg of vitamin C that you put in water. Works great. Comes in many flavors.

I swear by Zicam!! It is the ONLY anti viral available without a prescription!!!
Use the cold remedy not the allergy one. It is best used the first 24 hours but I would still try it. Have fun!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

I dont know if your flying or driving, so if you are driving and you dont feel better the day proir to leaving on the trip I think I would go to the DR if possible. You dont want to fly with a sinus infection. I flew back from DW with one last summer and all I can say is OUCH what a headache I had for the entire trip. I was actually hoping my head would explode to stop the pain. :rotfl: I was nauseaus for the first time flying and any noise including the plane noise itself felt like someone was hitting my over the head with a hammer.

I would hate for anyone to go through this. Make the time and go to DR if still sick before getting on plane. PLEASE

I have prayed that you get better. :)

Have a wonderful trip. I know you will be well by then.
