Just bought a 2001 Keystone pop up camper and can't wait to bring it to the Fort!! Well, first I guess I should practice at home since we have never camped before:idea: We have stayed in the cabins and have reservations at resorts for Oct and Jan, but I'm trying to find campsite reservations and every date I try just offers me the cabins. How far out do you have to reserve a campsite? Also, what is the one piece of advice you would offer a newbie camper?

Congrats on the pop up!! Call Disney Travel and ask about reservations, sometimes the website gets a bit confused.
Have a great trip whenever you get to go!!

Welcome to the camping family. We are a friendly bunch.

As far as reservations you can book 499 days out. If it's late October it's a busy time. Don't give up keep trying.

Best piece of advice, make a good packing list.

Congrats!

I second the good packing list. Think about what you use/consume daily at home and think about how to recreate it in your popup.

Also, a good storage system is crucial. There is only so much room in there and you want to make the most of it. :)

If you are using the Disney ressie tool make sure as the resort you select you choose the FW Campgrounds which is at the very bottom of the list of resorts.

It would be a good idea to do a practice campout close to home before you come all the way to the Fort. Just sayin' :confused3

Yay! You will love camping at the Fort! It doesn't get any easier than that. Camping tips....be prepared for anything, lol! Bring all the food/drink you think you might need; bring rain gear and indoor games/movies even if the forecast is for clear sunny skies, because you just never know; have some sort of white noise going if you're a light sleeper (we run our rv fans all night long for white noise.). A couple of shake-down runs close to home are good for sorting out what you need and don't need.

For my November Fort trip, I couldn't get the online reservation system to give me anything, no matter what combinations I tried....like you, I got cabin info and nothing else. I ended up having a travel agent book for me, and she got me exactly what I wanted, so we are looking forward to 10 nights at the Fort in just a few months!

Enjoy your new home away from home!
