so forgive for such a dumb question- the dye is completely edibile right? I've just peeled the blue eggs & of course the egg underneath is a bit blue - it's ok to eat right???? We're making egg salad with them....just making sure it's safe......

What did you use to dye them? I know food coloring is fine to eat, we eat stuff with food coloring every day. Now if you used some sort of special dye, I would check the box. But you don't eat the shell so i'm figuring it will be just fine.

My grandfather to this day still loves eating the eggs that I used to dye and now my children dye...

I would think most of the store bought kits are food coloring dye. Mine have always had color underneath.
My kids love dying them. It's amazing how many people have never dyed eggs. It's always been a tradition of ours growing up. My mother used to even bake braided bread with some of teh eggs tucked in it.
