I loved the pictures. I want to go so bad. I have friends that just came back after a cruise over in Hawaii - the pictures are just amazing. I want to go, I want to go, I want to go!!!!!
Thanks for sharing you wonderful vacation with DIS. I actually went to High School for a brief period at Radford HS in Hawaii and I loved Hawaii. We are currently awaiting Dh's next assignment and I am really hoping that it is Hawaii.
My Brother went to Radford High ! Graduated in '76. Bette Midler who was an alumnus visited the school a few times while he was there. I was hanging out at Anihinihi Intermediate (and learning to be a very tough houle girl) I still actually have a very love hate relationship with Hawaii, due to the intense racial disrimination directed at me.
But ....enough about that ! I am enjoying you pictures and hope you have a great time. have your kids take you body surfing at Bellows Beach!
Just got back from USS Arizona and USS Missouri. Great day of historical education!
cannot post photos...Because my SIL is like my son and plays World of Warcraft on the computer all the time. (ha).....so I gotta sit and wait. drat it anyway. I think I got some great shots!
The weather today was BEAUTIFUL!!! perfect, breezy and not hot and sticky at all.
Well, like I mentioned today is Saturday and visited Arizona Memorial. OMG!
I normally wake up early (5:30) and that is ALWAYS!!! This morning, I woke up at 5:30 and visited restroom and tried to go back to sleep and I DID!!! I woke up then at 8:30! I NEVER sleep in like that! That was so awesome!
Okay, we drove just couple of miles to the Arizona Memorialarea. We got the audios and roamed around learning much to be learned.
Then it was time for our "ticket" (12:30 time slot). They have a nice movie to see (did not have that back in 1982/1983). NICE theatre. Then boarded the boat and visited the Memorial.
We then returned and had some food. Boarded the Trolley to visit the USS Missouri. It was nice and quiet (not a slew of visitors). I had never been on this ship and it was such an honor to see the history!
Pretty much returned home, daughter made chili in crock pot and then around 6pm ish she and I went to the brand new Wal Mart in Pearl Ridge area. It so happens that it was opening weekend! It was quite crowded but also not that terrible. People were friendly in the aisles. I am one to vote for Wal Mart anyway .
Thoughts: I love , just LOVE , listening to Hawaiian music on the radio. I realize my daughter has better cutting knives than I do! I love being here and seeing so much more than I normally would. I love to see how my daughter lives, her hangouts, and stuff[/B]
Just wanted to say, sorry for the LARGE photos, I have them at Photobucket and just do not want to reduce them ....sorry..
I have to throw in photo of DD's two kitty cats....
I was really surprised when I saw this. wow.....
This is a Missile Defense Radar that is being built, will be painted and then taken to Alaska. Don't say I did not learn anything today..
This is the historical spot where the signing of the end of WWII.....
That's it for Saturday. Don't have big plans for Sunday....Maybe I might tag along dd and dsil when he goes to TRipler Hospital for appt. on Monday. re his leg.
OH, one thing that was neet at Walmart.....they have several announcements or checks over the microphone (cannot think of the word) and at the end they would sa Mahalo... That was cool!
I love the pictures! I had a thought that I would get back to Hawaii for my 25th anniversary in 4 years. Now after seeing your pictures I am definitely going to figure out how to do it. Thanks!
I love the pics. I lived in Moanalua when I was in 6th grade (and my dad is still living on the island) so I really loved the pics of Tripler Hospital, which I used to live down the street from! Is there a golf course on the military property you are on? I think my dad used to drag my sister and I there when we all lived there! They had the best french fries there
Don't forget to go to Waimea Falls, it is so beautiful. The Polynesian Cultural Center is a MUST SEE! It is fantastic!
OMG, I almost forgot. You have to try and get to Matsumoto Shave Ice on the North Shore. They have the best shave ice in the world (it is NOT a snow cone, those things are yuck!). Try it with beans and ice cream on the bottom. It sounds totally weird, but it is SO YUMMY!
Just love your pictures!! We were stationed at Pearl when DH was in the Navy right after we were married in '73. We ended up only being there one year because I needed open heart surgery (at age 20) and they wouldn't attempt it at Tripler. Please keep your wonderful shots coming!
