I'm here in Hawaii! with daughter!!! *updated photos #116

Thanks for the tip on Dave and Buster's. It sounds like the perfect place for an evening with my family when we need a vacation from our vacation (the kids will be 11 and 13). I'm still really enjoying your pictures and trip report. We'll be in Oahu for 9 nights in July/August (plus another week in Kona visiting my brother). I'll save it for a day when the kids think we've been boring them.

Waimea Falls is beautiful. They used to have professional divers there a while back, but I think they stopped doing that. :confused3

Hermosa11- you haven't dined local style until you've been to Zippys and tried their famous chili. :rotfl: :rotfl: Have you been to Zippys?

Great pictures and I'm glad you are having a fun time!

NWDISGAL - I have dined at Zippy's, but not the 'local' side., we ate at the dinning area..... I HAVE had a loco moco....but not at Zippy's, at the Sheraton Express counter. My dd does not like the local 'side' of Zippy's (such a picky person).....I loved the loco moco. I plan on buying some more of Leonard's Masaladas and try to bring some home! they are sooooo good.

Waimea Falls divers. the time we were there there were no professional divers. :confused3 oh well......
ohhhh, a thought  , dd and dsil are planning on going to some little carnival with rides at Hickam AFB Sun. night with another couple and I COULD ask dd to drop by a Zippy's for me to buy a loco moco and also try some chili, and bring it home to have later for dinner.......hummmmm :scratchin I like that thought.

We are getting ready to head off to Bellows beach....Bellows beach

Has anyone tried to look at this website:
virtual views

I am telling you, this is the best website if you are into views!!!!!

Sunday, dsil wants to climb Diamond Head, but I am worried about my knees.
I just know dd cannot leave until after 10:30 and by the time we get there , etc. the climb up will be during such a hot time. I would prefer to leave the house at 6:30 , etc., when it is cooler! I am worried......not sure If I can do it. I could always turn around! (how embarrasing would that be).... :worried:

Zippys has a retail bakery side as part of their restaurants. As I recall, there are several Zippys on Oahu. The last time I was there, they were having a peanut butter promo at the bakery - which was just fine with me. :thumbsup2

Malasadas... Yum!

Loco Moco's the best.

Peanut Butter!!!!! YESSSSSS
Ha ha ha ha :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yes, we went to the zippy's right across the street from Hilo Hatties.
We bought some donuts from their Napoleon's......

Saturday we went to Bellows Beach. I thought it was a great place. The sand was so fine and the beach was so wide and just plain beautiful. I am sure a great example of a lovely beach here in Hawaii. You could park your car like right at the edge of the beach area.....many tents.

After dd and dsil were through with their fun and games, dsil asked if he could play with the boys.....(how cute!!!)

We left the house around 7:20....got there??? ummmm 7:50 ish???
Well, when we were finished with being on top....it was time to head on down. I must say there was alot of foot traffic! very busy for people going up.....Lots of huffing and puffing. I did not feel so bad for ME and my huffing and puffing going up. My knees were fine! I was kind of surprised. I guess my dd's stairs to her 3rd floor apt. are deeper than I think.
Well, the funniest thing....as we were ALL done and right next to the restroom...there were tons!!! I mean TONS!!!! of tourists heading on up!
there were FOUR!!! bus loads  :crowded: .....even if HALF the crowd made it to the top together , the top would not fit them all! I am so glad we got there when we did.

Afterwards, it was abou 9:12 when we were in car and heading out of area.
We were hungry! But we made a pit stop at Kapiolani Park right next to zoo. There were several vendors ....we roamed some. I did not have much cash at all, but did buy a few cards with such colorful prints on them for only a buck each!!!!

Then, we headed to Waikiki and found parking for $4 only and walked over to Perry's Smorgy Restaraunt on Kuhio very close to the Hyatt.
I feel this restaraunt has done a terrific job! to create a lovely atmosphere with a tropical setting amongst the tall jungle of hotels and condos!

On our way home, we saw the Pride of Aloha in port

That was my adventure for today. Went to NEX for some last minute boxes of macadamia chocolates.....dd had to take a long nap .....they are now
going to spend time at a local carnival set up at Hickham AFB for the community. I will relax, and watch Desperate Housewives!!! :thumbsup2

My visit is coming to a close....not sure what we will do tomorrow.
I will need to get to airport around noon on Tuesday... :( sad to go, but I have spent quite a bit of time here and I guess it is time to head back to my boring town and work. :crazy2: (town is boring, work is not -I actually enjoy my work, crazy as that sounds)

Cool! We have reservations at the Hale Koa, but are hoping to get reservations 60 days out at Bellows if possible for a couple of the days. It'd be so cool to be right on the beach!

I've enjoyed your post and pictures. You haven't missed much in your neck of the woods. We were warm 70-76 for abour 4 days and then we went back down to 29-40, so sad. I hope you soaked in as much sun as possible.

It is great that you've been getting out and doing lots of the local things to. Did you have a chance to go to Kapiolani's farmer's market? It is on Saturdays and is supposed to be very nice with lots of local produce and concession stands?
