Hi everyone.
I could not be any happier!!!!!
I am purchasing 150 points at SSR and put down the deposit yesterday. Now I need to get the papers that need to be signed and I should be all set. YEAH>>>Life is good.

Thank you to everyone who writes on these boards. Your years of wisdom help so many people become owners. I was telling my guide Ken Bradshaw about how much info I have learned and I knew that buying was the right decision for me.

FYI..I was assigned to building 2 which has an opening date of June 7. I will not pay any dues until June and the financing payments will also start either June 15 or July1.
If I have any questions I will be sure to ask and in the mean time as I sit and make plans for the next few years about when we are going to visit our "HOME" I will have a huge smile knowing I'm a DVC member....

Thanks for all you help.
Lori

Lori, I wrote a very similar message thanking these board members for all their help when I purchased over two years ago. One of the promises I made to myself was to try to help others with questions the way that I was helped.

It's always great to see the enthusiasm and anticipation of new buyers....excited but even then not realizing what a great vacation investment they've made!

When you walk into your room at SSR for the first time....that's when it all makes perfect sense!

Congrats, and we look forward to welcoming you home!:)

This board was the reason why I knew buying was the right thing for my family. It also helped me to know how many points to buy, what month to get, and wether or not to buy SSR or resale. I wonder how many of us bought after finding this board?

I'm so happy for you. I found these boards while in the final stages of buying.

Welcome Home!

Bobbi:D

A big THANK YOU to...tjkraz for the FAQ thread on SSR.
It was very helpful. I have seen various post from you helping newer people out...

I can't wait to stay at SSR and hopefully I will in Sept. Anybody want to guess on the availablity of a studio for 9 nights in Sept? I won;t be able to book until I'm offical and I'm hoping about two-three weeks.
Can any recent purchasers give me a time line?
How long from sending in paperwork until you knew it was approved? How long until you could to start to book?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Lori

Congratulations and Welcome Home!!!! I, too, found these boards and fell in love with the whole DVC concept. Thanks for such great help you guys. You make it easy for all us newbies!! Can't wait to hear that first in person 'welcome home' too!!

I'm almost/or probably am a DVC member. Our closing was supposed to have been on the 10th. How long does it usually take to get the packet from Disney - NOT that I'm anxious or anything!;)

Hi Lori!

I'm not sure how long it takes it takes by mail but I filled out all the paperwork and pd my deposit while I was on vacation last year @ WDW. That was on December 14th and I received my official approval letter (I was financing) on December 23. A great Christmas present to me!

Hope that helps somewhat. :D

You are quite welcome. Only too happy to help.

Are you sure about that? You might want to call your guide and double-check. I was under the assumption that as soon as one placed a down-payment on the purchase, a member number was assigned and you could effectively begin to make reservations.

The ability to stay is obviously contingent upon the completion of the purchase. But I always thought that one of the benefits of buying direct from DVC was the "instant gratification" of being able to book almost immediately.

You still have a few weeks until a September stay would fall in the 7 month booking window for those who have another Home resort. But I would definitely try to get your ressie in before that 7 months hits. I suspect a lot of DVCers will be wanting to try SSR simply because it's the new kid on the block.

With regard to your question on how long it will take to be "official", you will probably receive a letter from DVC 3-4 weeks after you returned your signed forms. Membership cards will follow in a couple more months.

I was told by my guide when I signed the paperwork for SSR and paid my deposit that I could start making reservations the next day. I couldn't stay at any of the resorts until my building was open in June, but I was allowed to make a ressie right away.

Thanks for the info. I will call my guide today and ask him if I can make reservations for Sept now. I would be much more relaxed knowing I'm going home without any waiting on the waitlist.

I have tentative dates for 2005 and have figured out the 11 month window so I have huge red letters on the calender to call and make reservations. I have read alot of people who call day by day durning busy times or wanting a certain room type my questions is does MS add the day by day to your first day or do you end up with 7 different confirmation numbers? It would make sense to add them together but you never know with Disney.

And MS opens at 9 am does this include weekends?
I'm thinking its 9-5 Mon-Fri (did I read that somewhere? Or did I dream that?)
Everyone on this board is awesome. So many of you will take time to post a Welcome Home to new DVC members and its nice to be welcomed.

One more questions... Some of you have the Saratoga Springs Resort logo with the horse on it..how can I add that to my post?

Thanks and have a great day...mine will be snow filled AGAIN... sitting in the snow band area and schools are delayed 2 hours and will probably close before to long but of course I have to go to work anyway....(gotta pay for DVC)...and loving it.

Bye,
Lori

Hi Lori-n-NY!

You did not dream it, MS is open M-F. Closed on WE. Congratulations and Welcome Home! Have many happy years of DVC vacations!:sunny:

And I can sympathize with the cold/snowy weather you are having! Can't wait till May!!:)

In all likelihood, the only time you need to book day-by-day at 11 months is in the following situations:

1. OKW owner wanting Grand Villa
2. BWV owner wanting Standard View room.
3. Holiday periods (all resorts).
4. The period between Thanksgiving and Christmas (all resorts)

Numbers 1 and 2 are definites. 3 and 4 are probably wise. I made a ressie for next December, and ended up calling twice--first time to book two days and the second time to book the rest. No problems. MS does seem to be patient with the day-by-day bookings, so at least you don't have to deal with a grumpy CM.

When you place the first call, let them know you will be adding on additional days. They will leave the reservation open, and simply add the days on as you continue to call.

The SSR logo can be found on the member web site. The address and logon info should be in your member handbook. Visit the Technical Support board for info on adding logos, images and counters to your signature.

I got a huge box in the mail today and it is full of DVC info....now I have something to read all weekend. I also received the SSR litho and the vacation member bag.
Alot of papers to sign and things to read but the best part is I have a member number..... Yeah a member number so I will call Monday and book my Sept trip. Nothing can stop me now. I have read about people being excited when their membership cards arrive and I'm sure I will be doing that same dance too but for now I'll just be giddy about receiving the papers.

One quick question....The DVC is in my name only so I will get a card but can you get a card for your child? The reason I ask is there is a new pin (yes a pin freak too) that is for DVC members and she wants one too and its says limit of one. (maybe its one a day...maybe????)Would there be anything she needs a card for? Right now she is almost 11 so she won't be without me but down the road when shes older and shopping with her friend or something and wants to use the discount then what?
I know the room keys say DVC member but will places give you the discount with that?
I know go read by membership book but you guys are more fun to talk to.

I can't wait until Monday....

Thanks for everything...Lori
