I have never seen a child humiliated at WCC. I am sure there are issues but there are very strong incentives to clear them up instantly. The wait staff works for tips and pissing off parents isn't going to earn them anything.
I am sure there are issues I haven't seen humiliation.
I have seen the wait staff back off and apologize and go out of their way to sooth kids that were shy. Sometimes I have seen those kids join in the later and other times not.
I have seen the staff step back and wait while a kid does a blood test for diabetes and wait for an all is OK from mom or dad before carrying on like the kid didn't do anything unusual. Those of you who don't puncture your children for a drop of blood every time they eat ANYTHING may not realize how magic it is for that to happen. Trust me it is.
About complains and praise.
It is a lot easier to complain at WDW than complement as a part of the Disney culture. WDW is set up to respond to complaints and pretty much ignores complements.
I make a point of complementing good CMs. I used to write letters complementing CMs after every trip. Way more often than not a letter of complement to executive management about a great CM was not communicated to the CM.
In Bobby's case a 20 fool long thank you letter, FedEx-ed to the food and beverage manager at Wilderness Lodge by name and tracked as delivered by FedEx was "lost" by this manager who later claimed she hand delivers complement letters but in this case it was passed to someone else who lost it.
Right. She just misplaced a 3x20 scroll because she cares so much about the Cast.
How do I know this? Because I asked if Bobby if he got it. He didn't.
Only by complaining that he didn't get it back up the chain of command did they even tell him that someone had sent praise. Management didn't care about the complement. I guarantee she would have hauled him on the carpet if she got a FedEx complaint.
I gave up sending complements to management. Now I praise the CMs right then and there for making magic. I always carry a means to do this as I expect great service and more often than not get it. I hand out BadShoe pins with a card saying they made magic. (see:

We once tipped Bobby 100%. It was a small price to pay for a great show - Best in Disney - bar none.
