I'm Boycotting WCC

The last time we were there, March 2005, it was probably the best ever. Bobby was at the tables next to us, he had a group of about 25 men. It was hysterical. We kept interacting with them. For the life of me, I can't remember our server's name but she was a hoot too. She even got on the phone with my Mom back home who called while we were at dinner. We got yelled at for not inviting everyone in the restaurant to our Disney wedding the year before and made us dance for the crowd.

We have been to WCC many times and never had a fun server! They were always pretty boring to us. The good ones were always at other tables. We even asked for fun ones but never got them. We go to WCC for that skillet. I'm not a huge meat eating fan but we love that skillet! Hopefully the pony races are still going to be around but we are going again in 2 weeks whether they are or not!

We were lucky enough to get Bobby last September (without knowing enough to ask for him). I still don't know if the food was any good since I laughed so hard through the entire meal! He did embarrass my slightly sensitive DD11, but backed off and even apologized to her as soon as he realized it. It happened so quickly I didn't even know the whole story until we came home and watched the video tape. If only the servers could be trained to back off the sensitive kids - it wasn't that hard for Bobby to save this great experience for my DD. She still calls this her favorite restaurant and she had a great time. (She loved most of the antics and is mostly a good sport). My DS8 (the extrovert) loved all the antics and Bobby even had him "help" wait tables. We have an ADR there this coming Sept. but I will have to rethink it now. Our expectations may be too high!

We eat at WCC every trip. It is usually so much and DD loves the pony races. We have been looking forward to our ADR in September. Now I'm dissapointed! The food here is alright but we mostly go for the fun and antics. Bad enough they changed the food at 'Ohana. I might be changing a couple of ADR's. :sad2:

I work at WCC with Bobby and showed him this post earlier at work. He couldn't believe how much was written. I will wait and see if he replies himself before I say anything else.

Oh! :yay: Bobby, if you are reading all of this, please let us all know how you are doing and where we might be able to find you next.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Bobby is leaving. We eat at WCC every trip and love it! And we tell all our friends to make ADRs there, too.

A lot of people on this thread have said it - its easy to complain but harder to complement. Bobby, if you read this, know that you are appreciated beyond belief, and are frequently the best thing about vacation! I hope you are happy at whatever you do next. And let us know - we'll come support you!

Sammie -

I think scraptoons reference to copying threads was to copying a thread such as this & then sending the copied thread in an e-mail to WDW Guest Communications.
I'm not sure that is possible because the e-mailer might have to get permission from all the posters & also from The DIS to send a thread on to WDW. But I could be wrong :confused3

Individual e-mails or letters from guests would probably be best and get the most notice from management.

Yes that was my point.

Do they still have the Diamond Horseshoe Revue? Maybe they could move the WCC show there and make everyone happy. They could provide the antics there and turn WCC into a restaurant that would please more guests at the actual resort.

We were just there last week for our first time, and I have to say that we really enjoyed it. They did the pony races, and we waved our napkins in the air and yelled. Our server, Candi, was awesome. She was alot of fun. They also had a birthday gentleman ride around on a pony singing Happy Birthday to himself, it was pretty funny. There were also alot of the Big Mason jars full of drinks. They even announced when one lady finished one. We had a great time, so I wouldn't cancel any reservations yet. I would try it for myself. I thought about cancelling ours too, but I am so glad I didn't. Each person has their own opinion. So go and try to enjoy.

We just returned from a wonderful WL vacation. We ate at WCC twice -- once at breakfast and once at dinner. It should make everyone happy to hear that the antics, loudness and wild behavior still continues! We had straws thrown at us, there was a wooden stick horse race around the restaurant, one table had ordered a large drink and the waitress went on and on loudly about how we all better look out for her at the restroom line! We had our waiter at dinner tell the whole restaurant that I didn't want any other meats on my skillet besides chicken. He went on loudly announcing how I didn't want my chicken touched by other low class meats! (all I said was that I wouldn't be eating the others, so why waste it by bringing it to me?)

There was also the hokey pokey song, and the one table I saw that didn't get up and participate in it was surrounded by wait staff trying to coax them up.

You can ask for "quiet table" and they'll sit you with a quieter server. I think the level of wild behavior varies widely from day to day, hour to hour, but I think every meal experiences some.

My first visit to WCC, will be in Aug. I just had to change my ressie, and settled for a 8:20pm. I hope the servers aren't worn out by then! :goodvibes

We have only been for the evening meal. What is the atmosphere for breakfast and lunch.

This is BEYOND disappointing to hear. We love this restaurant, the food is awesome but the servers (esp Bobby) make it worth while. I have wonderful memories from 2 awesome trips there - I hope it does not change.

We'll be at WCC a week from today - Yay!!! It is one of my favorites, and I am looking forward to some fun! I'll let everyone know how it was when we get back. We will be there for dinner.

I was at WCC a few days ago for lunch and there were lots of antics, such as napkin twirling, pony races, some sort of animal game, and LOTS of yelling. They had the whole restaurant sing a song, we all had to "yee haw!" about various things, etc. I thought it was great and lots of fun. It probably varies greatly on a day to day basis. :)

Can you tell me what the lunch menu is like there? Thanks.

I'm wishing we'd dined at WCC last July instead of waiting til our next trip. We will likely still dine there, but I'm glad I am the only one in my family who knows of the antics - they can't be disappointed if they don't know what they're missing!

Disney is about the Show. Hence calling the staff Cast Members.

WCC isn't about the food. It is about the show and Bobby is (was) the best show on Disney property.

Bar none.

I have never seen a child humiliated at WCC. I am sure there are issues but there are very strong incentives to clear them up instantly. The wait staff works for tips and pissing off parents isn't going to earn them anything.

I am sure there are issues I haven't seen humiliation.

I have seen the wait staff back off and apologize and go out of their way to sooth kids that were shy. Sometimes I have seen those kids join in the later and other times not.

I have seen the staff step back and wait while a kid does a blood test for diabetes and wait for an all is OK from mom or dad before carrying on like the kid didn't do anything unusual. Those of you who don't puncture your children for a drop of blood every time they eat ANYTHING may not realize how magic it is for that to happen. Trust me it is.

About complains and praise.
It is a lot easier to complain at WDW than complement as a part of the Disney culture. WDW is set up to respond to complaints and pretty much ignores complements.

I make a point of complementing good CMs. I used to write letters complementing CMs after every trip. Way more often than not a letter of complement to executive management about a great CM was not communicated to the CM.

In Bobby's case a 20 fool long thank you letter, FedEx-ed to the food and beverage manager at Wilderness Lodge by name and tracked as delivered by FedEx was "lost" by this manager who later claimed she hand delivers complement letters but in this case it was passed to someone else who lost it.

Right. She just misplaced a 3x20 scroll because she cares so much about the Cast.

How do I know this? Because I asked if Bobby if he got it. He didn't.

Only by complaining that he didn't get it back up the chain of command did they even tell him that someone had sent praise. Management didn't care about the complement. I guarantee she would have hauled him on the carpet if she got a FedEx complaint.

I gave up sending complements to management. Now I praise the CM’s right then and there for making magic. I always carry a means to do this as I expect great service and more often than not get it. I hand out BadShoe pins with a card saying they made magic. (see: http://badshoe.com/badshoe_thankyou.htm)

We once tipped Bobby 100%. It was a small price to pay for a great show - Best in Disney - bar none.

The food isn't that great there to begin with so if you take away all the fun there's pretty much nothing left IMHO.

This is disappointing to hear. We haven't eaten at WCC yet, but have ADRs for our Nov trip. I booked this for all the "antics" that I heard they have... right up my kids & DH's alley. We'll still go...since I don't know what I missed...but after reading alot of reviews I'm sure I'll figure it out.
