I'm Boycotting WCC

It was open in May.

That's interesting as when we were there in May it was closed. It was Mother's Day evening and they were very busy (as were all restaurants) so I wonder why on this evening it was closed? Very odd. I've heard people complain about being away from the action so I thought that was the reason.

I've also heard resort guests complaining about the noise from the WCC. We stayed in a 6th floor room which opened up to the area above the WCC and we could hear the antics from our room. It really didn't bother us but I bet it would bother those that had small children who were trying to sleep early.

It really is in a poor location at the WL since it is open to the lobby with the antics that occur.

We love the WL and since the AP is not to our tastes whatsoever the WCC is the only option within the resort for a sit down meal.

Now what do I do? We have an ADR for one night on our vacation. This is our first trip to WDW and I loved the reviews on WCC. If the antics and all the fun is gone, I don't really want to go. Can anyone suggest another place that is a lot of fun, and with pretty good food? Is there any other restaurants that are themed this way? I was really looking forward to dining here, I guess I will cancel my ADR now.

Actually VERY strange it was closed....we went on 5/6, only a week before Mom's Day. I would think they would have had it open on a night that was certainly busy, although perhaps the weekend we were there people complained and they decided to not try to open it again the following w/e??

disneygirl-I have heard great things about the 50's prime time, but have never been there myself.

Are you serious? Don't cancel - especially if you've never been there. Now what do you do? You go, and see for yourself! I love these boards too, but you have to remember to take everything with a grain of salt -- you haven't met the people who post here, have you? You're going to let a thread on a message board determine whether or not you keep your ADR?

Try it for yourself -- there are a lot of opinions on this thread - some people had great experiences at WCC, some didn't; you can have your own experience and tell about it later!

Just my humble opinion - reading your post made me sad that someone would be so quick to completely change their plans based on strangers' opinions, especially if you really wanted to go.

I do really want to go, but if eveything has changed and it is just not fun I do not want to ruin my families night. Especially since it is our first visit to WDW and WCC. Can you tell I am an obsessive planner? I get to do all the planning and make all the decisions so I try to do my best. I will keep my ADR for now, and keep reading. I would like to read posts on people who have been in the past few weeks or are going in the next couple of weeks before we go. Oh and thanks for the tip on the Cafe. I am going to check that out too.

My family ate there a few nights ago. I found it to be OKAY, not great. A lot of meat and more meat. Server was pleasant not hilarious as I hoped. Probably won't go back. We ate at Ohanas too and I'd say the same for that review. Same restaurants, similiar menus, just different themes.

I agree - I find that I'm starting to look at the restaurant thread less and less because every review seems to be negative. It makes me not want to eat at any of the restaurants - I was planning on Le Cellier in December, but there have been so many bad reviews lately that I might take that off the list. Now I have my DH all excited about WCC, and then I start reading bad reviews about that. It seems like every time I get excited to try something new, all I hear are bad reviews.

Well, to underscore your point, our last visit in October '05 was right after the 'Ohana menu change, which of course had this board in a complete uproar. But, we kept our ADR and tried it anyway, and LOVED it. It's now one of our favorite restaurants (ate there again in March and loved it again), so it just goes to show that you have to see for yourself and form your own opinion.

That said, still not sure about LeCellier and WCC for December... :badpc:

I'm not incouraging anyone to change there plans. I specifically said if you have never been before you probably won't realize things have changed.

Per the mangager I spoke with on friday night, they are still having pony races. Though on this past friday night from 5pm to 7pm per Delswife they did no pony races.

I'm not sure where Bobby is headed but I hope it is on disney property. The manager promised to let me know. I think I'll write Bobby myself and see if I can find out.

okay I am officially on these boards too much!! Last night I DREAMED that I went into a mall and found Bobby the cowboy at a shoe store selling CROCS!!! :rotfl: I told him how much everyone missed him and asked if he would please go back to WCC...he got all teary eyed and said that he really DID miss Florida...it was so weird to dream about a guy I've never met who works at a restaurant I wouldn't ever want to go to...I'm here too much... I need help!!

Well, we'll be there next weekend -- staying at the WL, so I'll be sure to keep my eyes and ears open!

Hi there,
My family ate there quite a few times last year during our stay at WL. My children adored the antics. Maybe if they enclosed WCC in to help with the noise level all would be ok. I do, however, think great fun can be had without picking on little shy ones. Just pick on the parents, that would work ;) A customer was talking on her cell phone and the waitress screamed out, "You all be quiet... this person is talking on the phone" in my opinion that person deserved to be picked on.

I'm really hoping that the antics at WCC don't stay changed for good. We not only love the food there but totally have enjoyed all the antics. That's another big part of the reason we go there. The same thing happened to us the last time we went to Restaurantosaurus for their character breakfast. We have always had so much fun there too with all the CM interacting with the guests, but the last time we went, there was none of that going on at all like that. We were very disappointed. I'm really hoping that it's a temporary thing and not perminent.

The newer servers just don't have the personaity of the old servers because they are not allowed to act as crazy as they did before...it is so sad to see it change....

That I totally agree with. Last June we went and it was the dinner from .... well, you know. It was the BIGGEST disappointment. Our waitress must have been new, didn't know anything, didn't have a smile, a joke, nothing! She took forever serving us, getting our ticket and bringing it back to us. We won't go back. Very sad. We've been going since '99...

Count me as one who chose to dine at at WCC (in Feb) and specifically requested Bobby based you Zurg's review at Badshoe. Bobby asked why we requested him and I told him it was because I was a big fan of his friend Zurg! Bobby was very flattered and also very complementary of you all, he kept mentioning how much he enjoyed your family throughout the night--and he told me to tell you he said "Hi" if I had the chance--haven't had the chance until now!

We did enjoy our meal, but it was very subdued compared to what I had read. We did end up in an alcove near the fireplace so we missed a lot of the main floor antics, but did enjoy the pony races and certificate ceremony. Bobby was fairly mild, but I chalked it up to being busy and also having several "fuddy duddy" tables around us. I think that by requesting him, and letting him know I was a Zurg fan allowed him to know we were up for fun, but there just wasn't much he could do.

He did throw napkins at us after the drink orders and threw lots of straws at us all night long. Our girls decided to get "even" and quietly gathered up as many straws as they could and when he came over to bring drink refills they threw them in his face! He seemed very surprised and it was quite funny (none of the adults knew they were planning this!)--he then acted mad and brought them a broom and dustpan and told them to sweep them up. We were seated next to the enclosed "busing station"? and kitchen entrance and awhile later what must have been an entire box of straws came raining down on us from the other side of the wall! I am sure our screams and laughter woke everyone above us. The kids thought this was the best night at Disney ever! Later we were taking pictures around the table and he came by and posed us and asked someone else to take the photo and he got in it with us, then he also had us act silly and took the photo.

But I did ask for several drink refills and no "funny stuff". DD really dropped her fork and asked for another one (she had no idea something "might" happen) but all she got was another fork. Throwing straws was about as wild as it got. I was a bit disappointed, but all the kids and the friends we were with thought it was great because they didn't know any better.

I hope you can get ahold of Bobby and let him know to come here and read this so he will know how much many of us loved and enjoyed him, and that he will be missed. Server is often a thankless job, and he needs to know that he brightened the lives of many that he served. I also really applaud him for having the character to stay true to himself and quit, rather than just become a mediocre, run of the mill server when he deserves to be allowed to do what he does best.

Please let us know where he will be next!

I hate to admit we noticed a change during our May vacation. On our previous trips the place has been rowdy! However, this time our server threw some straws at us and left it at that. I'm hoping we were just there on an off night. It will take more than one poor outing to remove this fav from my boys list. (They love the food, too!!)

Thanks I will be looking for your review, before I make my final decision of dining here or not.

I work at WCC with Bobby and showed him this post earlier at work. He couldn't believe how much was written. I will wait and see if he replies himself before I say anything else.

We have always been big fans and have made multiple trips there because of Jeffro Bo Dean. But on our most recent trip there he was very subdued. We had two other families with us who were so looking forward to his humor and we got very little. If they are toning it down we won't be back. We have always went more for the entertainment value than the food! I hope this is not permanant.

Wow, small world! At least he knows people appreciate his effort over the years. :wizard:

When we went in 2004 we were sooo disapointed. Our server was not in character what so ever and, we spent most of our time there waiting for drinks and a skillet refill. I only wish Bobby had been our server! Any idea if he is staying with Disney and/or where he will be working?
