I'm a little sad that the planning is almost over!

Has anybody felt like this? We decided to go to WDW in the middle of January. We are leaving this Friday morning. I have had the most enjoyable, best time planning this trip! Probably more than any other. I bought the unofficial guide, found this board and allearsnet. It has been a blast.

About a month ago, I started feeling overwhelmed and took a week break because I felt that I wasn't "memorizing" enough, but got a grip and relaxed. I know which parks we're going to, planned 50% of our meals with PS and have our touring plans. I feel like I know alot, but am going to go with the flow if need be.

Anyway, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the tips, trip reports and excitement. However, I am a little apprehensive that the trip won't live up to what I have created in my mind and all the planning. I'm hoping someone will alleviate that worry!

Anyway...4 more days! I guess what I'll have to do is come back to this board and let everyone know my perception of WDW and any tips I can share.

Yep. We decided out of the blue to go to WDW about a month ago. I did lots of research, bought 2 guidebooks, spent hours reading these boards and the Allears and Mousesavers websites figuring out a plan and looking for deals on flights, hotels, rental cars, tickets, etc. Now I've pretty much got everything set and I'm going through planning withdrawals. We've got 30 days to go until we leave.

If this is your first trip, then I can understand your worry. But you shouldn't worry, somethings will go exactly as planned and some things might not. Let me assure you though that whatever happens you will have a good time. We had to take one of my DD's to the hospital on our last trip, but we still had a great time. If this is not your first trip, then you should know you have nothing to worry about. Whenever some doubt comes into your mind( what if I don't remeber to...) just make sure you answer your own question. What if you don't remember? Nothing's going to happen. They call thi a vacation for a reason. I think it is best to plan, but these are all soft plans. Anything can change(weather, kids, dining, shows). As long as you are not stuck b/c something changes you'll be fine. I hop you have a great time.I wish I only had 4 days til my vacation!!!

I am with you. It's almost like vacation is over before it begins, but rest assured it will be as wonderful, and probably even better than your expectations. Disney has a way of doing that. The good news is you get to start planning on your next trip, more than likely before this one even begins. I have learned from the past that having two trips in the planning stages are always a good thing. Get tired of planning one, switche to the other. :cool1:

Thanks everyone! Here I thought I was done....but excitedly got to plan another PS today!

DH and oldest DS informed me that Monday night is the championship game of the NCAA! ARRRGGGG! I already had us at MK to watch the Wished fireworks!

Okay, backtrack and plan again. I have us going Tuesday night and even better...made a PS at Liberty Tree Tavern. So I guess it worked out!

I could have written your post exactly. We too decided to go in January and I have been planning ever since and we leave Sat 5 AM. Half the fun is the planning! I just hope the trip goes really slow - vacations always go too fast! Enjoy your trip and when you return, you can start planning for your next trip! Kim, who knows exactly how you feel!

We went on our first trip in Nov. & I went through similar thoughts too. Had to take a short break from planning because I started getting overwhelmed. My best advice would be to pick the top 3-4 things you really want to do each day & the rest can just fall into place. I was also afraid of the actual trip not living up to my plans but it worked out ok. The first day or two we had to adjust to "vacation" mode but ended up having a really great time.

I had general plans & a few PS. Once we got past the overwhelming urge to see & do it all, it was easy to focus on the few must sees & fit in other activities as we could. Have a great trip!! Be careful though, we hadn't planned to go back for several years but I'm already itching to go again! :teeth:

I am going to join you with your feelings - We are leaving tomorrow and I am already disappointed that once I return I won't have anything Disney to look forward to.

DH sais we'll go back in two years- I think he thought he was comforting me in saying that and all I replied was What I have to wait that long????!!!

I am sure I will be secretly planning another mother/daughter only trip in between the family ones.

We have been back three weeks, and I am still on these boards!

I discovered these boards about three months before our trip, and I think I spent all three months at the computer!

What started out as a vacation staying off site, became an amazing adventure that included waking up to giraffs, and zebras every morning.

Without all the tips and advice on these boards, we would not have had the wonderful experience we did.

In fact, we no sooner took off from Orlando, that DH said "I'm not against coming back next year....."

WOW, this from the man who said "this is our one and only trip!"

I am already planning for next year, and I know I am officially addicted to Disney now!

I plan all of our trips and I LOVE every minute of it !! I have spread sheets and everything. Right now I am planning out May trip and starting to search for airfare/hotels for a possible trip in December of this year as well. We have decided to make the jump and buy AP's this year. So the possibilities are endless - even for a spur of the minute weekend trip :cool1:

Just know that no matter how hard you plan not everything will go how you want it. BUT you will have a great time and want to go back again and again :wizard:
