is there anyway you can get a good view of illuminations outside of the park and still hear it? im thinking the worldshowcase entrance? never used that entrance so dont know. any suggestion would be great!

If you go to the Boardwalk resort and go onto the Boardwalk and stand on the bridge, you can hear the music and see the fireworks, but you can't see any of the fire or the globe. It's still a nice place to watch it, because not a lot of people watch it there.

Or if you walk around to the bridge that connects the 3 Epcot resorts and the Swan & Dolphin resorts, you can see more of the countries that light up during certain parts of the show.

I've never tried at the back entrance to Epcot, but I'm sure it'll be the same deal. You can't see out onto the lake, there are buildings in the way. But you'll probably be able to see the fireworks and hear the music.

Let me make a comparison.

Can you see Wishes outside MK?
Yes.
Except for a few castle projection-effects (and sometimes Tinkerbell) the "entire show" is FIREWORKS and most are launched high enough to see very well across the lake.

Can you see a few of the higher-launched fireworks FROM IllumiNations?
Yes.
BUT, IllumiNations is only "partially" a fireworks presenation, and many of the exposions and sparkle effects are very LOW to the water (some ON the water).
Much more of the show is seen in the water fountains, lasers, lighting effects ON the buildings around the lagoon, the "inferno barge" and the "Video Globe."
So little of the show is "high in the air" that its almost meaningless to see just those effects.

So, can you see ILLUMINATIONS (the "show") outside Epcot?
Nope.

And the same goes DOUBLE at the Studios for Fantasmic!

As I mentioned before...
You CAN see Wishes outside MK.
Go to the Poly or the Contemporary.

Poly: On the BEACH. Talk along until you can see the Castle unobstructed (mostly). Find a couple of beach chairs and ENJOY!

Contemp: There is an outside observation deck. You can enjoy the show from there.

THEN (here's a REAL secret) take the resort monorail over to the Grand Floridian.
Every day between 3pm and 9:30pm, you can be entertained by the great dance-band and/or a pianist seated at a concert grand piano.
Its FREE and its in that SPECTACULAR romantic atrium lobby.

The band and the pianist alternate performing every 45 minutes to an hour, all evening.
