Il Pochi il Fiero y Blabbermouths...Magical Reunion FINALLY!!!

Diana...I'm sorry you had to go through it too. We have incredible husbands, don't we? Stacey.....You need to schedule your mammogram!!!! Git R Done!!!!

I will. I had my annual with the GYN scheduled but I got MRSA, so I need to reschedule it. I would have by now if I hadn't been so sick since we got back from Mexico.

We're booked on the 9/22 Disney Magic cruise out of Galveston, great guarantee rates....Hint...Hint..Hint...John needs a dive buddy...hint...hint...

Monica, as in NEXT MONTH? Don't think that's happening, lol. Though I can safely say Kevin would love to go and have a dive buddy. But enjoy, you deserve it!

I'm glad I'll be with my grandsons on that day, but REALLY wish I'd been able to sail with you.
Did your itinerary change? If I'd planned a Western and they changed mine to Key West, PC/WDW and Castaway Cay, I'd be furious!

No, neither this itinerary nor our Christmas cruise changed. Both are westerns but each a bit different.

September is Grand Cayman, Coz & Costa Maya a 7 day. John is planning to dive Cayman for himself & Coz as a test run to dive with the kids in December. Maggie decided to do her check out dives a few weeks ago and is looking forward to diving at Christmas. Me, I'll probably curl up with a good book somewhere. Dr. Says I have to limit sun, swim and sweat for another 6 weeks.I'm still trying to figure out if he realizes WE LIVE IN TEXAS!!!! That made radiation more frustrating than chemo. Chemo I didn't have restrictions, if I felt like doing something I could. I'm trying to be good until we leave.

Christmas is the first 8 day but with Christmas holidays on day 4&5, we guessed our itinerary would stay the same. We'll stop at Key West, Coz & Costa Maya. There will be an extra sea day because of Christmas.

I've been really surprised at the people who are HAPPY their itinerary changed to the Key West, Castaway Cay, WDW cruise. :confused3
If they wanted to do that, they could have just done a Land & Sea trip in Florida.
We book our cruises for the ports, taking the cost into consideration. I guess we must be in the minority.

Good Morning All.....And I do hope that all are fine, all are well, all are having fun cruising, traveling, chatting, enjoying school and being parents and grandparents.

Sam and I are both fine, more than fine, we are wonderful. We just returned from celebrating our Anniversary at Food and Wine, which itself was yummy.

As for our summer break (as I think it has been an entire season since I have posted), ....

We took up art, painted the Vatican, climbed Mount Everest, designed the new iPad, wandered through Epping Forest and appeared on the Master Chef show, did not win.

OK, in real life we painted the bath, climbed the steps to work each day, looked at the new iPad, wandered through the grocery store and watched the Master Chef show.

In other words, life is pretty much the same. Our diving has taken a "dive" itself due to Sam's work schedule. He took vacation so we could dive with the groupers, alas someone named Isaac decided to come to call and park himself over Florida. We live fight near the neighborhoods that were flooded and featured on the national news. We were fine, and our water drained off in less than one day, but we did lose our huge key lime tree to the winds. sigh...it was stressed by Wilma in 2005. The rest of the jungle is fine, growing despite my efforts....which now need to double as "winter" will soon be here.

Mother is doing fine (there is that word again). She celebrated another birthday, no party this year, just a trip to her favorite restaurant.

As for trips, other than Food and Wine, we have been home bodies since Hawaii. I promised trip reports but have not completed (make that started) the photo editing. No clue why? I did manage a few things for Christmas, but that appears all. I do need to get my act together for Alaska, other than booking the cruise passage, I have done nothing.

I hope everyone had a great summer. I am glad to see you are still chatting and will be catching up slowly.....It is glad to be back.

Enjoy the Day!

I actually had to log into DIS today which shows how long it's been since I've been on.

Thanks for everyone's updates. it was great catching up.

Sharon and I are still adjusting to not having any kids at home, even though Lisa does not officially leave until 8/24. She is working and living at the gym during the week and comes home on Sunday for the day. It's tough having Matt in Korea which eliminates all opportunity to go and play. FaceTime makes it easier, but it sure would be more fun to just do a bike ride with him.

Sharon has become a cyclist. This morning she did 60 miles. The amazing part is that she woke up at 4:30 am and we were on the road by 5:15. She did not complain about it.

Remember, life is short so skip often!!

Gee - see what I miss by not dissing....Hurray for Sharon. Send some of that energy down our way please......

Hey there Irene!!! I was actually just thinking about you the other day. I was at Target, and they have the cutest hedgehog candles!! I wanted to buy them and send them to you, but I was afraid they'd get broken during shipment.

It was a busy summer, and fall so far. We were basically gone all summer. Two cruises, a stay at an all-inclusive south of Playa del Carmen (loved it!) and then Nebraska to visit my boys and family.
Then....a few days at a resort in Phoenix for our 25th wedding anniversary, it was a touching surprise from Jay.

I finally had my annual and my mammo, and I've got the all clear. That's always a relief, but I feel bad for my friends who haven't been so lucky, and am eternally grateful that they "beat the breast beast". :worship::worship:

So for the first time in years, we have NO travel plans scheduled. At all.
Well, unless you count going to Georgia in April for Jared's boot camp graduation. We hope to at least see some historical sites while we're there. I've been checking out hotels.....not much to choose from. None of them have balconies! :scared::rotfl::rotfl:

We've tossed around the idea of a stay in Roatan next summer, for some snorkeling, but not anywhere close to making reservations, so it may have to wait until 2014. Guess I'll spend more time with my growing boys this coming summer.

Prayers for everyone dealing with Sandy.

Hey all - I haven't been on the boards in forever, so I hope everyone is doing well. So glad that Diana and Monica are doing better. I had a little scare earlier in the year, but thank goodness after several tests, everything was okay. I did fall earlier in the year at a swim meet and it looks like I tore three discs in my back. That has not been comfortable, but I don't want surgery either.

Charley and I are empty nesters and I don't like it so far. :confused3 Ashley started college in August near Dallas. She is doing good in school and training hard in swimming. We just got back from going for the weekend. Dale drove up from College Station, so we got to spend the weekend with both of the kiddos. Dale is graduating in December from A&M. We are really proud of him. He is graduating Magna Cum Laude?? and looks like he has accepted a job offer at Boeing in Seattle. He did internship there for the summer, but now he will be there permanently and it seems so far. Good thing, looks like I will go up there to vacation and finally get into Canada.

With two kids in College, our cruising has definitely been put on hold. We have thought about trying to do something in 2014, but we will have to see how finances area. We did a lot of remodeling to our house during 2012 and that was pretty much the vacation money :)

Charley and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary in November and it looks like I have to be out of town on business. He can't take the time off of work because we are having to take time off in December for Dale's graduation and for Ashley's first college invitational swim meet in December that will be in San Antonio. She has been swimming in the College duals so far.

Take care everyone and I hope all are doing well.

Pam

Pam....wow...congrats to Dale!!! That's awesome! Glad he has a job lined up, too. :thumbsup2 Or in his case, career.

Back pain is no fun. I don't blame you for not wanting any surgery. I have four broken and displaced vertebra, and the last time I felt like I could handle surgery, the odds were still not in my favor for having a good enough result. That was probably a good 12 years ago. They may have some better techniques by now, but I'm past the point of willingly going in for surgery as long as I can still get around.

Jay & I just celebrated our 25th. We went a less expensive route and stayed at a resort in Phoenix for two nights. It's a nice place, tucked in the hills, so it felt like we'd gone out of town, for a fraction of the cost.

Funny how we think we're going to do so much traveling, so many things, when the kids are gone....but it seems like we have less money and are busier than before! Go figure.:confused3

Hey Stacey,

How is Jared doing in his role in the Guard? That is what he went into right? Hard to believe that everyone's kids are so grown up now.

Agree that there is really no time/money for travel. We will make it to Seattle in the summer and hopefully into Canada. An Alaskan cruise sounds fun, but I always love the Carribbean.:)

He starts boot camp in Georgia in the middle of January, but so far, he's been doing the weekend Guard duty thing. They do drills, and a lot of the things that they'll be doing in boot camp. He really seems to like it, and I'm finally coming to terms with it. He'll get a good education after boot camp, in communications, and then if he decides to, he'll get help with college.

I admit, the first time I saw him in his fatigues was tough, though. :sad1:

We are done with vacations for the year, too. Got a little carried away but was in "if not now, when?" mode. Would say it's great to be home, but the dryness and altitude always hit me hard.

Irene, are you cruising with Disney? We are booked with Celebrity in May for Alaska for our 25th. Kevin is very excited about the photo opportunities.

Pam, what great news about your kids! I see many trips to the northwest in your future, not a bad place to visit. We are actually considering a move to that area if we can get things squared away here.

Stacey, good news on the check up. Was thinking about you last week. We sat near a couple at a wine dinner that looked familiar. Can't remember her name, but her Dis name is Windermere.

So we seem to have an empty nesters club here now. Alicia moved out, but she is in town, so we see her when she needs clean laundry or to be fed. Hope everyone is coping well!

That was Winderemere Judy....I can't remember her last name, just Judy. She left a few of us with a distaste in our mouths before the PC cruise.

I'm just itching, without having a trip planned...but at least we'll tour around Georgia a little bit, see some historic sites.....we've never been that way, so it should be interesting.

I've been "ordered" to attend Food & Wine next October. I'll try to start saving my pennies so that I can go. :thumbsup2

Very sad this morning, a friend of Kevin's was killed in an accident in FL. You all may have heard about it, the rogue wave that capsized the dive boat? The lady was a Dive con at the dive shop Kevin teaches at and they worked together often.

I hadn't seen it. That's awful!!! I wonder if Irene has heard about it?
Prayers for her family. How devastating.

Oh, no - that's so sad Diana. Prayers for her family. Hugs to you & Kevin.
