Yesterday as a good Day to Dive.
Flat seas, more than 20 turtle sightings some close up and personal.
Both dives were what I call aquarium dives.
So, thank you Jim for all the patience, lessons, and hints. I realized as soon as I jumped off a perfectly good and refurbished dive boat, that I had not lost any of my skills after being out of the water for 6 months

. Turned over and went down.....As I was floating, (not flaying - remember those days) that I had Jim to thank for the wonderful world of water.
We had to go south as we had air divers and the depth was only 60 - perhaps a good thing as on my second dive I had a hose leak. But I still did great - surfaced first dive with 1500 - stay down longer would have been a good idea except my dive partner needed to surface. We were still the last ones out of the water and went in with the first drop . The first dive was so long that I was showing an O2 indicator - that hardly ever happens unless I go below 100 when only dong 2 dives. My Nitrox blend was off (only 30) for the second tank. Sam was not happy but as we had two reef dives it was not an issue. Dive shop has been alerted, apologies all around and tank will be bled.
OK enough techy stuff.
First dive - Waters were calm, water was warm (ish) and turtles were everywhere. The ladies are either getting ready to lay or recovering. Some were huge - I mean larger than rays. And surprisingly, I saw 2 juveniles. I am not as observant as some as to which are male and which are female turtles but our dive mates said all but one of the 23 he saw where females. Still he did not see the teenages.
First dive near the end there is a little underwater cove - the type of shot that does not record with the average underwater camera - it was alive with fish.......I just floated and watched. So amazing. Thanks again Ji,
We saw a large lady sitting on the bottom, the flash scared her and after she swam, there was a romora on the bottom "squashed" - not dead squashed, just frightened squashed. At first I had no clue what this was, a baby shark? Very strange as it was in the sand. Then it started to recover and we swam away.
Sighted a large green moray, a free swimming purple spotted moray, no stingrays although they are in the area.
All the reef fish. Sam may have a photo of the smallest top hat ever.
Second dive Breakers 2nd window. not the best Breakers dive in my opinion. Water was cooler - and I was reviewing the gauge due to the hose leak and tank mixture.....But a good dive with lots more turtles. Vis not the best. No lobster, lots of baby fry in pockets. Current was so so - more slow not a zip line dive.
What a great day - and yes it was HOT topside.
What is good after a dive - you got it. A cold beer, lunch and a NAP.
Thanks again Jim.
OK - enough of the mushie stuff -- I now return you to your normal thread opportunities to pick on your cruise mates.
