Il Pochi il Fiero y Blabbermouths...Magical Reunion FINALLY!!!

The info I've seen said paid events can be booked August 16. No idea if they'll give us a couple weeks to peruse the events or 2 days like they did several years ago!! :confused3

Swan/Dolphin has their information up. Oct 7th and 8th is their 2nd Annual Food & Wine Classic. I already purchased a ticket for a wine seminar on the 7th. I plan to stroll along the causeway too ($65+tax) - just need to decide whether to do that Fri or Sat night!

I have my flights and my rooms (Dolphin & BCV). Will arrive 9/29 and fly home 10/9. I can do a lot of eating and drinking in 10 days!!! :rotfl:

We did the Food and Wine Classic last year - We enjoyed the wine seminar very VERY much. We had a package - a room with tickets to a seminar and the causeway. The package was a very good deal economically and that weekend we normally go to WDW as it is our Anniversary weekend. We are skipping this year because the wedding cruise is the weekend before.

Back to the subject - the causeway - If it is like last year, I would not pay the $65 for it. The area between the Swan and Dolphin was roped off and booths are set up with offerings mostly from the onsite chefs. The steakhouse was a big draw and a huge line, not eating meat, I skipped that. Perhaps the steak would make the price worthwhile ? I will see if I have any info from the past year. Still if you were to wander around the World and pay for each tidbit and wine - it might be the same....HUM? I am no help am I?
:rotfl:

Stacey, don't think so. That's just a thing that people of a certain age and coloring get, I think. Sort of a heat rash. Another reason not to go for about 7-8 months of the year.

No F&W info yet. Just the bands that are playing and a couple of new booths. Hawaii and the Caribbean, I think.
:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:
I sense a theme - Hawaii and the Caribeean - think Disney CRUISE......

ok - somehow, I lost my post in cyberspace. Must be because I'm not posting much.

Thanks for the trip report!

Jim, not helping with the reminder of heat and crowds. We found cheap airfare and are now leaving mid week after our July cruise. The kids haven't been to WDW since 1999 - we're overdue. I prefer to think of it as heat training for the start of marching band practice the day after we get home...

Eventful few weeks - my baby girl is no longer in jr. high - the first day of vacation, she proudly joined her brother at marching band practice on the trombone line. Teased the director if he really knew what he was getting into with same-instrument siblings. He assured me he's following his mentor's practice of making siblings "kiss and make up" if they argue in band. He's prepared for Mike and Maggie....:rotfl2:

Mike's driving - after the insurance sticker shock, I do admit it does make my life much easier and I have much more free time! He's now working as a 2nd generation YMCA lifeguard and having a great time.

I think it more as heat training for running the Badwater Ultramarathon. 132 miles in the desert at 120 + degrees.

Normally people training by running on a treadmill in a sauna. I think the same thing could be done at the parks.

Have fun. I'll be at the beach. Umbrella drink!!

Sharon, sounds like y'all had a nice time on the Dream even though it was crowded. I'll have to come back before our Fantasy cruise to ask for pointers/reminders about the ship ... like how to dim the lights, Mouse Detective game, etc.

I sort of goofed on booking our cruise for next year. I don't know if the school calendar wasn't out yet or if just didn't pay close enough attention to the date. The girls get out a whole week earlier than I thought. We could have been cruising mid-May rather than first of June. I'm sure I could have save myself at least $500 by cruising mid-May. Oh well. Can't switch now as prices have gone up so much. I hate when I spend money unnecessarily. OOPS! :headache:

This will be the first summer in YEARS that we aren't doing a Disney vacation. :sad1: We do have water park tickets left so we may hit a water park when we go down to visit my sister this summer.

Ang

Had to go back and re-read the post...at first I thought you would have missed the cruise....ie they got out later...At least you can still cruise.

A disney vacation can be water parks only - why not...wanna know a secret?

We have Never done the water parks...after River County Closed, we have not made it to one of the others......

We met some friends from MI on Monday night in Orlando for dinner. They were at WDW for a few days.

It was 97 degrees and humid and that was at 6 PM.

I can't even think about being in the parks during the summer. Standing in long lines next to sweaty people and screaming kids is not my idea of a good time.

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:which is why I don't mind black out days.....:sunny:

Brings to mind a certain video I saw.....sounds like "Jim - you are an....":flower3:

but wait, you will be at the beach so not applicable to you.

No running in the sun for me....no biking in the sun for me...gee and I was born in the sun.

Thanks for Jay's birthday wishes, I'll pass them on. He's probably not too excited, though. *61* this year. :faint:

Yesterday as a good Day to Dive.

Flat seas, more than 20 turtle sightings some close up and personal.

Both dives were what I call aquarium dives.

So, thank you Jim for all the patience, lessons, and hints. I realized as soon as I jumped off a perfectly good and refurbished dive boat, that I had not lost any of my skills after being out of the water for 6 months :scared1:. Turned over and went down.....As I was floating, (not flaying - remember those days) that I had Jim to thank for the wonderful world of water.

We had to go south as we had air divers and the depth was only 60 - perhaps a good thing as on my second dive I had a hose leak. But I still did great - surfaced first dive with 1500 - stay down longer would have been a good idea except my dive partner needed to surface. We were still the last ones out of the water and went in with the first drop . The first dive was so long that I was showing an O2 indicator - that hardly ever happens unless I go below 100 when only dong 2 dives. My Nitrox blend was off (only 30) for the second tank. Sam was not happy but as we had two reef dives it was not an issue. Dive shop has been alerted, apologies all around and tank will be bled.

OK enough techy stuff.

First dive - Waters were calm, water was warm (ish) and turtles were everywhere. The ladies are either getting ready to lay or recovering. Some were huge - I mean larger than rays. And surprisingly, I saw 2 juveniles. I am not as observant as some as to which are male and which are female turtles but our dive mates said all but one of the 23 he saw where females. Still he did not see the teenages.

First dive near the end there is a little underwater cove - the type of shot that does not record with the average underwater camera - it was alive with fish.......I just floated and watched. So amazing. Thanks again Ji, :cloud9:

We saw a large lady sitting on the bottom, the flash scared her and after she swam, there was a romora on the bottom "squashed" - not dead squashed, just frightened squashed. At first I had no clue what this was, a baby shark? Very strange as it was in the sand. Then it started to recover and we swam away.

Sighted a large green moray, a free swimming purple spotted moray, no stingrays although they are in the area.

All the reef fish. Sam may have a photo of the smallest top hat ever.

Second dive Breakers 2nd window. not the best Breakers dive in my opinion. Water was cooler - and I was reviewing the gauge due to the hose leak and tank mixture.....But a good dive with lots more turtles. Vis not the best. No lobster, lots of baby fry in pockets. Current was so so - more slow not a zip line dive.

What a great day - and yes it was HOT topside.

What is good after a dive - you got it. A cold beer, lunch and a NAP.

Thanks again Jim.

OK - enough of the mushie stuff -- I now return you to your normal thread opportunities to pick on your cruise mates.

Irene, thanks for the dive post. It just makes me want to head south and go diving. We had one planned for mid week 2 weeks ago, but the seas kicked up.

Lisa knows that when she is finished painting her room we will be coming down. Must get that job done before we can have fun.
